WATCH: Cory Booker Is Withholding Judgement on Smollett | Heavy.com

Cory Booker says he is not ready to pass judgement on the Jussie Smollett case until more information comes out from "on the record sources." Booker, the New Jersey senator and presidential hopeful, was asked about the case by reporters after a campaign event in Rochester, New Hampshire.

You can see Booker's response below:.

Booker first made it clear that he's not ready to weigh in on the complex case yet.

Then he shifted gear to talk about the problem of hate crimes and bias crimes in the United States; Booker said that bias crimes are on the rise in America, and said that since 911, there has been an uptick in white supremacist attacks on US soil.

Here is his response, as told to the AP:.

"Well, the information is still coming out.

I'm going to withhold it until all of the information actually comes out from on the record sources.

We know in America that bigoted and biased attacks are on the rise, in a serious way.

We actually even know in this country, that since 911 the majority of attacks on our soil have been right wing terrorist attacks, the majority of them white supremacist attacks — from the horrific shootings in Pittsburgh, or in South Carolina church, what we're seeing is attacks on people because they're different.

And we all need to join together and condemn those attacks, and the hatred and the bigotry that sources them.".

Jussie Smollett, the star of TV's Empire, told police that he was attacked by two unknown men in Chicago, on January 29.

Smollett said his attackers yelled out homophobic and racial slurs, put a rope around his neck, and poured a chemical on him.

There was a national outcry after Smollett reported the attack.

Cory Booker called the event a "modern day lynching" at the time.

But more recently, police in Chicago say that they have new information which has "shifted" the way they're investigating the case.

CBS has reported that — according to off-the-record sources — Booker paid two brothers to "stage" the attack against him.

CNN also cites unnamed sources who say that the actor arranged to have the attack on him staged.

In a statement issued by his attorneys, Smollett denied having anything to do with his attack.

Queen Royal - Doctor to the Queen dies while cycling after he is hit by a lorry - Duration: 6:50.

A cyclist who died after being hit by a lorry during his morning commute was a doctor to the Queen, it has been revealed

Bystanders battled in vain to save Dr Peter Fisher following the collision on Wednesday morning, seconds from where he worked as a director of research at the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine

Eyewitnesses revealed how medics desperately gave the 67-year-old CPR both before and after he was pulled from underneath the front wheel of the lorry

The physician served the Queen for almost 15 years as a member of the royal medical household, and Her Majesty was informed of his death this afternoon

He has become the eighth cyclist to be killed in London this year and the fifth to die during a collision with a lorry

Angie Bozianu, 29, manager of the Princess Louise pub, said: 'I was sleeping and I heard screaming - a lady was screaming and it wasn't good

'The second I looked out of my window I saw a man under the wheel. He wasn't moving

The wheel was over his side.'People were gathering around him, they tried to give him first aid and CPR and between five and 10 minutes later the ambulance came

'They tried to CPR and managed to pull him out and again gave him CPR for half an hour or maybe more'I looked away, but when I looked back he was on the side, covered

I've never seen him before, I assumed he was on his day off - he was in a t-shirt and shorts

Floral tributes, a wellwisher's letter and candles have also been placed at the scene in Holborn, central London

The envelope to a handwritten letter laid on top of flowers attached to a crossing near where he died read: 'To: Someone I do not know but I am sure was a unique person

'Ms Bozianu, originally from Romania, said: 'I couldn't see his bike - only afterwards a police officer told me he was a cyclist

I hadn't seen the bike, so it was probably underneath the lorry.'It's not a thing you want to see when you wake up in the morning, you are looking at him and people are trying to help him and the next few minutes you see him on the side covered - I'm going to have that image for a while now

'There are many cyclists here but it's London and there are many everywhere. It's a very busy road and lots of lorries come down this way

'It was a big, green lorry, an HGV. It had something like plumbing or glass on it

'I put down some flowers today. I did it because it was the least I could do and I saw people started to put some flowers, I just felt like it

'I do feel sorry for him and for the family and also for the driver and his family

I would do it for anyone.'CCF, whose lorry was involved in the incident, said it was 'deeply saddened' by the death and said it was 'working closely with police' to determine what happened

Greg White, chief executive of the Faculty of Homeopathy, said: 'The Faculty of Homeopathy has to announce with great sadness, news of the death of the Faculty President, Dr Peter Fisher in a road accident

'Dr Fisher was Director of Research at the hospital, Europe's largest centre for integrative medicine

He was previously Honorary Consultant Rheumatologist at King's College Hospital.'He was also one of the world leaders in homeopathic research, and will be sorely missed not only by his family and UK friends and colleagues but around the whole world

'It's no exaggeration to say Peter is an irreplaceable talent. He truly was a giant in all his fields of endeavour, which included clinician, researcher and academic

'Dr Gill Gaskin, medical director at UCLH specialist hospitals board, said Dr Fisher will be missed by patients and colleagues

She said: 'We are all deeply shocked and saddened to lose Dr Peter Fisher in such tragic circumstances

'Peter was Director of Research at UCLH's Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine (RLHIM), and physician to Her Majesty The Queen

'Peter was a highly regarded colleague and friend of many at the RLHIM, where he worked for more than 35 years

'He was an international figure in homeopathy who was committed to holistic and compassionate care for his patients

'He will be greatly missed by his colleagues and patients alike.'Our deepest sympathies go out to Peter's family, friends and loved ones at this difficult time

'A graduate of Cambridge University and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and the Faculty of Homeopathy, Dr Fisher was a widely published expert in rheumatology and forms of complementary and alternative medicine

Dr Fisher chaired the World Health Organisation's working group on homeopathy and was a member of WHO's Expert Advisory Panel on Traditional and Complementary Medicine and was awarded the Albert Schweitzer Gold Medal of the Polish Academy of Medicine in 2007

The Grapevine is closed as cars spin out in falling snow in Tejon Pass - Duration: 2:06.

WIth snow falling in the Tejon Pass, the Grapevine was closed Sunday evening after several cars spun out on the 5 Freeway, the California Highway Patrol said

Snowfall elevations were expected to drop to 2,500 feet, and authorities warned that highway closures could make holiday travel in the mountains dicey

Advertisement >  "That's really the main concern — slick conditions on the major passes," said Kathy Hoxsie, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service

For a few hours Sunday morning, Southern California looked like its summer self: clear, blue skies with the mountains ringing the Los Angeles basin visible and beautiful in the distance

But yet another Pacific storm — though significantly lighter than previous systems — brought scattered showers in the afternoon before tapering off Sunday night

Southern California skies should clear by Monday morning, but the chilly, overcast conditions that have prevailed this soggy winter aren't behind us quite yet

Another mild storm could descend on the Los Angeles area later in the week.  The National Weather Service is predicting a 40% chance of rain — "very light and widely scattered" — on Thursday, Hoxsie said

Carolyn Hax Your spouses behavior is not stubbornness . its emotional abuse oregonlive.com

By CAROLYN HAX Adapted from a recent online discussion.

Dear Carolyn: What makes a person unyielding? Im trying to find compassion for my wifes stubbornness, so I can save our marriage. For example: If we go to brunch with a couple and I say something to embarrass her, shell never go to brunch with that couple again. No matter how much I apologize, she believes Ill do it again so removes that activity from things shell do with me.

After eight years, the "never again" list is ... growing. She refuses couples therapy says Im the one screwing up so Im seeing my own therapist.

How can I see this from her perspective? All I can guess is 18 years of violence from her parents, bullies and Catholic school made her highly adept at avoiding missteps whereas my own abusive childhood seemed to leave me hesitant and more prone to error.

Hax: The level of control your wife insists on having in your marriage isnt stubbornness, its emotional abuse at least as youve described it here. Please discuss this possibility with your therapist. No one is immune to deception and control, but your history of childhood abuse suggests youre especially vulnerable.

As for your general question, yes, someone with your wifes history can feel vulnerable and out of control, and that person can both gravitate to rigid ideologies and extreme control to find security thereby "avoiding missteps" to a fault.

Your staying with her despite her punitive behaviors could similarly be a response to abuse, making her your "rigid ideology" of sorts.

Compassion is admirable, since apparently she herself is a victim, but saving yourself and saving your marriage might be mutually exclusive. Take good care, and proceed with wide open eyes.

Re: Trying:

In defense of "never again" ... Yeah, sure, you embarrassed her once. Thats on you. But if you do it again, its her fault because you already demonstrated what you were capable of. I have so much egg on my face from giving people second chances that I could make a frittata to feed a small village. She is the one who looks stupid and naive for giving someone a second chance. Whats rigid to you is her self respect and self preservation.

Hax: Oh dear. No.

When someone embarrasses you: You find out if you heard correctly and/or drew the intended conclusion; whether it was accidental or intentional or accidentally intentional; whether you acted appropriately or reacted out of old sensitivities; whether you are able to get past it. You find out whether this is a one off or a sign of your companions poor character.

If its the former, then you work on tempering your reactions, stay close, and write the incident off as human frailty.

If its the latter, then you tackle the character question to see whether to maintain the relationship.

There is not one healthy response that involves cutting off people you dined with because they witnessed something embarrassing.

As for "so much egg on my face," I just feel sad. Whether people think youre "stupid" is the least of the problem, and irrelevant anyway. What matters is that you learn from experience or professional counseling how to spot untrustworthy people. Try "Lifeskills for Adult Children" Woititz/Garner if youd prefer self help.
