Romance Novelist Who Wrote The Wrong Husband, Then Allegedly Killed Spouse, Is Sued by Stepson - New - Duration: 5:28.

 An Oregon romance novelist who allegedly murdered her husband last June is being sued for $1

7 million by the slain man's son.  The wrongful death lawsuit against Nancy Crampton-Brophy filed by her stepson Nathaniel Stillwater claims the novelist "murdered and/or conspired with others" in the death of his father, well-known chef Dan Brophy

 "He doesn't have any doubts she is responsible," Christine S. Mascal, the attorney for Stillwater, tells PEOPLE

 According to the lawsuit, which was filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court Tuesday, Stillwater, as a personal representative of his father's estate, is asking for $200,000 for his father's pain and suffering; $500,000 for losses; and $1 million for Stillwater's loss of his father

 On the morning of June 2, Dan, an instructor at the Oregon Culinary Institute, was found fatally wounded by his students at the institute

According to the lawsuit, he died from multiple gunshot wounds.  The day after his death, Nancy, a self-published romance novelist of such books as "The Wrong Husband" who sold Medicare and life insurance policies, took to Facebook to express her grief

 "For those of you who are close to me and feel this deserved a phone call, you are right, but I'm struggling to make sense of everything right now," she wrote

 The couple seemed to have the perfect life. They lived near Portland, where they raised chickens and tended to a large vegetable garden

Dan's fondness for his wife was evident in his classroom where he'd affectionately refer to her as "management

"  "She was the love of his life," Dan's former student Travis Richartz told PEOPLE

 The affection appeared mutual. On her website, Nancy described her marriage as having "ups and downs" but "more good times than bad

"  "I can't tell you when I fell in love with my husband, but I [can] relate the moment I decided to marry him

I was in the bath. It was a big tub. I expected him to join me and when he was delayed, I called out, 'Are you coming?' " she wrote

 "His answer convinced me he was Mr. Right. 'Yes, but I'm making hors d'oeuvres

' Can you imagine spending the rest of your life without a man like that?"  Those who knew Dan — who was also a mushroom expert — wondered how anyone could harbor animosity against him

 "I was in complete shock," Dan's student Madison Amburgy told PEOPLE.  Not only was Dan known for his kitchen prowess and generosity with the local homeless community, he also possessed a dry wit and was known for his "Brophyisms" and other quirks — like making students wear oven mitts when they neglected to wash their hands, or making them wear a sombrero or clown hat if they forgot their chef's hats

 "He had a closet full of different hats and jackets, and wacky cow outfits that you would velcro the parts of the cow onto," Richartz said

"He was just that guy that you showed up to his class, kinda never knowing what to expect

He was always a guy to keep you on your toes."  But, in September, in a twist befitting her own romantic mystery novels, Nancy was charged with murder in Dan's death

Authorities allege she used a 9mm handgun to commit the crime.  However, authorities have not revealed a motive or evidence in the case and they have not disclosed details on how they believe the crime occurred

 Nancy has pleaded not guilty and remains held without bail at the Multnomah County jail

Her attorney could not be reached for comment.  It was not clear if she has retained counsel for the civil case against her

"To be available for us training, when you can train with quality and consistency, it can help us with the best performance after in the games.

Gwyneth Paltrow says she is the victim in ski crash and that mansuing her for dollar 3.1MILLION hit

Gwyneth Paltrow has filed her response to the dollar 3.1 million lawsuit accusing her of toppling a 72 year old optometrist on the slopes at a swank Park Valley resort.

The Goop guru claims that she is the actual victim in the case, and that it was optometrist Terry Sanderson who smashedinto herfrom behind and ruined her day of skiing on February 26, 2016.

She also states in her counterclaim that an employee at Deer Valley witnessed the crash, checked to make sure Sanderson was not hurt and then filed a report.  

Paltrow on the other hand was angry with Plaintiff and said so, resulting in an apology from Sanderson according to the countersuit.

Paltrow then skied away to join her children down the slope, with her lawyer stating that she was shaken and upset, and quit skiing for the day even though it was morning.

The Oscar winner, 46, is now accusing Sanderson of exploiting her celebrity and wealth by threatening her with negative publicity if she does not settle the case, and seeking an unspecified amount in damages.

She also promises that she will donate any damages she is awarded in the case to charity.

The good night: Paltrow was snapped one day after the accident having dinner in Park City above , with the person who posted noting that Mitt Romney walked over to say hello to the Oscar winner

Plaintiff admits he does not remember what happened. Ms. Paltrow remembers what happened very clearly. She was enjoying skiing with her family on vacation in Utah, when Plaintiff who was uphill from Ms. Paltrow plowed into her back, states the counterclaim. 

She sustained a full "body blow". Ms. Paltrow was angry with Plaintiff, and said so. Plaintiff apologized. She was shaken and upset, and quit skiing for the day even though it was still morning.

It is then revealed that there was an eyewitness. 

A Deer Valley employee was present on the scene. The Deer Valley employee asked Plaintiff, whose friend had now caught up to Plaintiff, whether Plaintiff was okay, reads the court filing.

Plaintiff said he was. The Deer Valley employee prepared a report that determined Plaintiff had taken [Paltrow] out from behind and that Plaintiff was the uphill skier, and thus responsible for the collision.

The validity of Sandersons aliments are then questioned in court papers. 

Plaintiff, age 69, had told his doctor about one year earlier that he was blind in his right eye, and that his vision in his left eye was decreasing, states the filing. 

Just three weeks before the incident, Plaintiff told his doctor that Plaintiff had gotten old all of a sudden. Other than his vision problems, he had 15 other chronic medical issues.

Sanderson said in his complaint that Paltrow was skiing with an instructor at Deer Valley when she lost control and slammed into him from behind.

I heard this hysterical scream and instantaneous I got hit in the back, said Sanderson at a press conference. 

Paltrow then proceeded to get up and ski away according to the legal filing, without checking on Sanderson or offering any assistance to the injured man.

Soon after the GOOP guru fled the scene, Sanderson claims that her instructor came over and informed the injured man that the incident was his fault and then also skied off. 

Sanderson said in the complaint that neither Paltrow or the instructor alerted ski patrol after abandoning him, and he was left stranded and alone with brain damage and four broken ribs on the side of the mountain. 

Reps for Paltrow dismissed the filing as being without merit and said their client expects to be vindicated in the case. 

Her lawyers meanwhile have stated that Paltrow was downhill at the time of the crash, meaning that she had the right of way. 

It is not just Paltrow who is named in the suit, with Sanderson also seeing damages from the resort and three employees who were with Paltrow.  

This case involves a hit and run ski crash at Deer Valley, Utah, where Defendant Gwyneth Paltrow skied out of control and hit the back of Terry Sanderson, another skier, who was downhill, knocking him down hard, knocking him out, and causing a brain injury, four broken ribs and other serious injuries, stated the initial legal filing. 

Paltrow got up, turned and skied away, leaving Sanderson stunned, lying in the snow, seriously injured.

That is when a ski instructor came over and derided Sanderson claims the filing, despite the fact that he did not see the crash. 

He also failed to send help, as he was obligated to do, and later filed a false report to protect his client, Ms. Paltrow, stated the filing.

Neither Ms. Paltrow nor Deer Valley lodge personnel notified emergency responders about the injured Dr. Sanderson. They left him at the scene with serious brain injuries caused by Ms. Paltrow.

The instructor has been identified in the court filing as Eric Christiansen.

Paltrow was also with friends and family as well as two additional Deer Valley employees according to the lawsuit. 

She was allegedly rushing down the mountain to grab lunch at the Montage Lodge at Deer Valley according to the complaint.

There is a witness in the case, who was seen on a video presented during a press conference on Tuesday.  

I saw Gwyneth Paltrow hit him in the back. Terry wasnt moving his skies were facing down the hill, stated the man.

That man also stated that Paltrow did not say a single word throughout the entire incident. 

Sanderson is being represented in the case by Robert Sykes, a civil rights attorney. 

Paltrow had posted a photo one year prior while at Deer Valley bragging about what a natural athlete she was, writing:  20 years later and I still got it justlikeridingabike ididntbreakanything!  

She also gave the resort the ultimate endorsement when she did a Park City Deer Valley Guide on GOOP. 

Skiing in Utah certainly has its draws: wide open terrain, more bluebird days than we can count, and some seriously good, consistent powder, wrote Paltrow.

And she said of Deer Valley: Whats nice about Deer Valley is theres a little something for everyone, making it a great mountain for families—there are easy cruisers like Bluebell and Lucky Jack, plus some solid steeps like Daly Bowl and Lady Morgan.

Sanderson meanwhile states in his filing: Gwyneth Paltrow knew it was wrong to slam into Dr. Sandersons back, knocking him down, landing on top of him, knocking him out and then leave the scene of the ski crash she caused, but she did it anyway.

instead of blaming God we must look at crime corruption lawlessness oppression

all kinds of things which people worry about in the same way that God looks at

it let us look at it as sin God gave us his laws knowing the transgressing

against his laws will lead to pain and anger for ourselves how many wives are

brokenhearted over cheating husbands and vice versa

how many lives in a way and human left as orphans evil

in the world is the works of mankind who refuse what mythic God is good and he's

lost a blessing so suffering of man card is self-inflicted by people themselves

because they hate card in his laws now when I say that people when I say that

people watched it about to show me this part or that part to prove that God is

not good then if that is the case show me what you as a person makes you better

than God what is that you do in the world that would end the misery or

people and put the transgressors to justice because when one says someone is

bad that means that they have a standard that is better which is up half which if

upheld goodness will reign evil in the world is because of mankind's rebellion

against God but this only leads to more pain for follow human beings those who

say that God must do something to not realize that it is love it is still love

the godless people leave even when they rebel against him he is giving sinners

every sinner a chance to see the error of their ways and repent and believe for

when God put his judgement to the world there will be no second chance the guilt

will be sent to hell and no one will cry and say that they never had the

opportunity to Japan but people spend their precious time on things not trying

to find truth righteousness love and justice which are in Jesus Christ but

yes do you not saying that God is not doing

anything for every day people die and either fall to hell or heaven because we

do not see this we think God is not doing anything the coming judgement

would be the total overthrow of the entire world system but in the meantime

those who died I've been judged so God is working what each individual has to

do is to make it did to make it their life's goal to seek the Lord and find

salvation and teach others to do the same when the judgment comes call will

not listen to anyone who wants a last minute entry into the glory of Jesus

but God shut them up yes it was not know who shut the door of the ark it was gone

so basically there is my answer to why there's so much evil going on in the

world and in summer I'm just saying that is because we reject garden and we

reject the law of God the teachings of Christ who reject the heart of Christ

the Spirit of God brought through Christ for answer that we could change and love

one another the suffering of one man is the sin of another person if you have

lost something through theft what the still of God says thou shalt not steal

God has said we must do and I think that he said we must not do he was saying

them understanding that if we do them we're gonna harm one another even the

in terms of what God want us to do for each other

to love one another to be current one another to be forgiving one another it

would be impossible for any human being to be loving if he does not know God or

does not love God because it is only through knowledge of God that we can

love him and when we love them we love in person who he is we love because he

is love and we love with love were most likely to love so it is only through

loving and knowing God that we can do all the things that are beneficial to

our human beings that I've you know when I'm a blessing to other human beings it

has been possible to do anything beneficial to do anything that is

pleasant human beings if we do not love God so the the first commandment of love

encourage all our hearts and strengthens us it's the ultimate commandment because

it enables you when you love God to be first to

two deceased that he wants you to do that means not to take your neighbor's

wife you see another commits adultery

remaining that marriages now are gonna be sacred and they're gonna be respected

and there won't be any heartbroken s from from from you know failed marriages

on being bitterness from failed marriages so it is because of us in

rejecting God that the world has become to whether it is but it does not mean

that God is unloving and unkind or just in a neglectful elevenses way that they

are it is bad which must even make us you know rejoice and worship in God why

because if God is leading people to evil it means he's giving them the same

opportunity that he has given us to repent but he is told that there will be

one time where he's just gonna say enough and we know that people are dying

those people who died I've been judged so don't thing that God is not doing

anything God is doing work God is winning you know people to himself but

the preaching of men of God the Word of God by the spirit that he puts in

people's hearts who believe so God is doing work the world of course will

continue to be evil what we see now is nothing what is coming it's gonna be

even worse but even then God will still be in control God was to be taking our
