Waching daily Feb 21 2019

hello everyone welcome back to Coral joy travel I'm so glad you're here in

today's video we're going to be talking about magic bands stay tuned so as you

can see I have some of my magic bands here like a little garland yeah

magic bands what are magic bands how do you use magic bands are they safe to use

these are questions I get asked frequently and I'm going to use this

video as a vessel to tell you everything you could ever want to know about

Disney's Magic fans in Walt Disney World if this is your first time finding my

channel hello my name is coral I own a travel agency coral joy travel and we do

specialize in all Disney destinations we love selling Disney vacations so if

you're interested in one I do have a link in my description box below that

you can fill out a form and one of the team members on our coral joy travel

team will help your family out so magic bands are pretty magical they do

basically everything but tell time and let me say I wish I do wish they told

time that would make it easier because often when I am down in Walt Disney

World wearing my magic band on my wrist I also have on my other wrist my watch

this is one of my most recent magic bands I am an annual pass holder and I

actually have a sticker on this band

it's like a sticker decal that goes all the way around it kind of looks like

spaceship earth so magic bands are powered by magic no they're not no magic

bands are powered by something called RFID technologies so that's Radio

Frequency Identification basically they use radio waves to send and receive

information and that's how they work so if you are staying

at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel you will be getting a Magic Band in the mail

and typically I tell my clients they arrive two to three weeks before your

vacation they're usually sent out about a month before your check-in date so

depending on where you live it'll take between you know two and three weeks

before your trip to actually receive it it'll come in a very plain rectangular

cardboard box not too big and it'll have all of the magic bands that you need for

everyone in your party guests staying at Walt Disney World property can customize

their magic bands to a different color and I believe they can have up to 10

characters as you know a name on the back of the magic band I'll show you

mine I will cover cover up my ID I don't know if you can see that it does say

coral joy hopefully you can see it you can customize the color and they're all

solid colors and you can customize the name on the back this is again on your

my Disney experience website on your very own account that you create that

you will have major fast passes on and you will have made your dining

reservations on because you know to do that and if you have a travel agent they

will do that for you and make sure you're all ready for that so you don't

have a travel agent please please make sure that all that set up in advance

every time you plan a trip to Walt Disney World that you are staying at a

Disney Resort Hotel you will get a new Magic Band so you can either get a new

Magic Band like you can tell I have many magic bands here right I usually get a

new Magic Band because I like it it makes me happy but you can also decline

the Magic Band and use one that you have used from past trips honestly I have

used this Magic Band a lot like I think this is the only one there's another one

that I used to but like it's the only one that I really have been using for

the past year so it's it's getting a lot of you

if you are flying down to MCO the Orlando International Airport make sure

you do not put your magic bands in your checked luggage it needs to be with you

on your carry-on so you can get to the magical express desk and pull out your

magic band or better yet even just wear it with you on the plane put it on your

wrist because that's where these guys go they go on your wrist so I want to keep

it on my wrist so yeah make sure you know keep it on your wrist with you when

you're flying or keep it in your you know your carry-on luggage so when you

get down to the magical express desk you can just scan in and the cast member

there will pull up your information and guide you to the correct line to wait

for your magical Express bus that is complimentary this is a huge perk to

guests staying on Disney Resort Hotel property huge perk they Disney will

drive you from the airport to your Disney Resort Hotel and then upon

departure pick you up at your Disney Resort Hotel and bring you back to MCO

Airport it's not fun going back we call that the tragical Express but on the way

to we call that the magical Express when you arrive at your Disney Resort Hotel

when you've been dropped off from magical Express you'll usually go to the

check-in I like to always confirm that everything is hooked up and ready to go

on my Magic Band I highly suggest that you make sure everything is on your

Magic Man that you need to find if you've pre-purchased memory maker make

sure it's attached if you pre purchased a Dining Plan make sure that pulls up

you know that sort of thing just make sure everything is on your magic band

that you have already paid for I like to also keep a like the confirmation that

Disney sends you in an email kind of handy just in case the cast member says

oh I don't see memory maker pre-purchased and you say yes I did

here's my confirmation and just make sure that everything is

the way it needs to be there have been some technical difficulties in the past

two six six months so I just tell you that to know in advance that everything

is where it needs to be when you check-in and and not have a surprise in

the middle of a trip when you realize something is not attached that should

have been attached before so when you arrive this is going to be your room key

there will not be a room key that you have to keep this isn't that great no

cards to hold on to it's just this if you want to use your magic band to

charge items when you are in the parks or you are at a resort hotel at a

restaurant that sort of thing just inform the cast member when you're

checking in that you want to add a credit card to your magic band that way

you can to do some charges now I want to say a lot of people are worried about

that safety god forbid you drop your magic band you

lose it someone else picks it up can they start going to retail shops and

charging away on your credit card no they can't because not only is a credit

card associated you know on your Magic Band for you there's also a four digit

PIN code that is unique to you so I would say don't make your PIN code

one-two-three-four don't make your PIN code 0 0 0 0 or 1 1

1 1 make it a little more difficult in case you do lose it someone might be

able to guess 1 2 3 4 do your anniversary do your birthday that sort

of thing the day your dog was born I don't know make it unique so you know we

can't figure it out it's important so the good thing to know is that magic

bands and having a credit card on it should you want to do that you don't

have to do that should you choose to put a credit card on your Magic Band it is

safe ok it is safe for you and you can create this pin code at check-in and you

will use this every single time that pin code every single time you make any

purchases whether it's like I said tail shop or if you are paying for

dinner or you are using the Dining Plan credits you will have to still put in

that pin code so choose one that you will remember but make sure it's unique

when you are ready to hit the theme parks this is also your ticket to get

into the theme parks this Magic Band you will scan the Mickey head on the top

here to a Mickey head at a kiosk when you walk into the parks and you will

also need to use a fingerprint so choose a finger that you will remember you use

every time whether it's your thumb or it's your first finger on your right or

left side just remember because you will scan the Mickey head and then scan a

finger or a thumb every single time you go into the theme parks if you're

working with a travel agent you will definitely have already done this before

your trip but make sure you have fast passes for your trip and so you know the

fast passes are going to be found using your magic ban so if you make advanced

Fastpass reservations 60 days before your check-in date if all of that

information is going to be held in this Magic Band again there will be a Mickey

head that you can and I'll leave a picture here but that you can zap I

always say is that zap it's not really a zap but you'll touch the Mickey heads

together and then walk into the Fastpass queue so this holds your Fastpass

information this is your room key this is your magical express ticket to get on

this is your theme park tickets it's like I said it does everything but

tell the time right it just needs to tell the time that's all we need dis

ting another thing that these magic bands will do for you is link all of

your photo pass pictures that you either get taken at one of the attractions some

of the some of the rides have either photos or videos that automatically

happen with the magic bands and it will be on this or if you go to one of the

photo paths photographers in any of the theme parks

and ask for pictures to be taken they will scan your

to pee on so all of those PhotoPass pictures will be found on your magic

band and then obviously linked to your my Disney experience account so you can

view them there after a fun day at the theme parks you're hot you're tired you

want to take a break so you decide to go to the pool take a dip in the pool at

your Disney hotel nothing better guess what you don't have to take off your

magic bands because they are waterproof now mine with the sticker decal maybe I

shouldn't wear in the water I don't think my stickers waterproof but the

magic bands that look just like a solid color like this they are waterproof so

you really don't have to take them off which is a good thing because again

don't forget this is your room key you know so you need to have you can't like

go to your hotel change into your swimsuit and leave your

magic band in your room that doesn't make any sense right because you need

you need your magic van to get back into the room so the nice thing is that these

can go on the pool you don't have to kind of hide them under a towel when you

are swimming that sort of thing I'm sure they can even go into the hot tubs

although I wouldn't really submerge it into the heat that's just me but it's

definitely fine in a pool so whether you have the water parks all day or you are

just swimming at the hotel pool you don't need to remove your magic bands

they are waterproof so the magic bands that come with a Disney Resort Hotel

package are plain colors these may not be all of the colors I think I'm missing

pink and I don't see a blue I see a yellow I think these are all the colors

except oh there's a blue right in front of my face I don't see the pink one this

one actually used to be pink but these are the colors they're you know they're

solid colors if you wanted to buy a magic band that has a character on it

because there's some really cool magic bands out there they do you know have an

extra cost in the theme parks or at some of the resort hotels and you can you can

or you can even buy them actually online before your trip on shop Disney's

website you can just link them up to your my Disney experience

count and use that special magic band as well so you don't have to use the one

that they give you for free but you know you can use one that you've already

purchased in advance all you have to do is link on the back of the fancy magic

band let's call them just link up the numbers and it will go to your my Disney

experience account and then it'll connect to your ticketed package so

that's that's good to know like I mentioned you can also get

sticker decals to go on your Magic Band this is the one that I I don't know I

love F Codd I love spaceship earth so this one is kind of my favorite one that

I have I purchased I think two from an Etsy shop called my fantasy bands and I

will if I remember I will leave a link to their their shop below but you know

there and I know there's plenty of other sticker decal accounts out there but you

know this is the one that I got and I know they have a lot more than when I

first started purchasing from them and they're very affordable I want to say

they were under five dollars per sticker I hope this Magic Band video was helpful

for you if it was please give it a thumbs up share it with your friends who

are taking a Walt Disney World trip especially if it's their first time and

they really don't know what the magic bands are or how to use them please feel

free to share this information with them and comment below if you have gone to

Walt Disney World and you have magic bands maybe even magic bands like I have

what do you do with them when you return home do you reuse them on your next

trips do you make a garland like apparently I do and put them on my

Disney Christmas tree that's what I do or do you just display them somewhere or

do you just keep them in a drawer I'm just curious what everybody else does

with them I'm sure there's something more useful that I can do besides making

a garland out of my magic bands or could be a boa let's just make it about what

that works alright guys have a great day if you are not yet subscribed to my

channel I do hope you consider subscribing today I will see you in my

next Disney world video, Coral Joy Travel a touch of magic sharing joy bye guys

Elastic is a Search Company - Duration: 5:27.

We will always be searching for something why we search remains constant.

We're looking for insight information and answers but how and what we search

changes over time from the Dewey Decimal System for libraries... to Google for the

World Wide Web... to conversations with virtual systems for everyday inquiries.

Today what we search has grown to include a rapidly increasing amount of

structured and unstructured data from a multitude of sources such as databases,

websites, applications, and mobile and connected devices.

It's natural to think of search as just a box where you type in some text and

results appear — but search is more than that. It's about dragging your finger

across the map on your smartphone and watching it redraw itself as it shows

new locations... It's about selecting filters to group

what you might have for lunch into specific categories... or visualizing

billions of log messages in a histogram to analyze errors...

It's about forecasting data center storage capacity two weeks into the

future with machine learning jobs... Or monitoring application performance as

the customer goes from "Add to Cart" to "Order Confirmed" on a retail website... Or

even analyzing user sentiment with natural language processing. All of this

is search. Elastic is a search company that makes it easy to build search

experiences that power the use cases and applications of today and tomorrow. You

may not realize it but you probably use Elastic every day. When you hail a ride

home with Uber, Elastic is what pairs you with a nearby driver. When you search for

groceries on Instacart, Elastic is what provides relevant results and

recommendations. When you swipe left or right on Tinder, Elastic is what matches

you with people you might like — and who might like you back. At Cisco it's

Elastic aggregating pricing quote and configuration data to complete every

order on their commerce platform. At Sprint, Elastic is what processes

billions of log events a day the monitor website performance and network outages.

And at Indiana University, Elastic is powering cyber security operations to

protect thousands of devices in critical data. We developed the Elastic Stack

which consists of four core products that serve as building blocks for

developers to engineer search powered solutions. Elasticsearch is the heart of

the stack it's what stores searches and analyzes the data and is what everything

gets built around. Logstash and Beats are ways to rapidly ingest data into

Elasticsearch from a multitude of sources simultaneously.

Once data is in Elasticsearch, users can visualize it in Kibana to create and

share, charts, graphs, and dashboards of anything from network security logs to

spacecraft telemetry metrics or feed that data into a custom UI or

application. Today, we offer the following solutions which are all vertically

integrated into the Stack: App search, site search, enterprise search, logging,

metrics, application performance monitoring, business analytics, and

security analytics. Five years ago if you wanted to search

box on your website to developers had to roll up their sleeves and start building.

Today, it takes you five minutes to achieve the same thing with our site

search solution. Give us a URL, will crawl your site, and embed snippet of code, and

voila, you have site search. As we continue to expand we are focused on

being wherever our users are whether that's on a public cloud, private cloud,

bare metal, or in hybrid environments. Historically our users have downloaded

and managed our software and deployed it on their premises increasingly customers

have wanted to consume our products through a SAS offering. To address this

demand we have developed Elastic Cloud our family of SAS offerings available on

multiple public cloud providers. Today, Elastic Cloud includes Elasticsearch

Service, Elastic App Search Service, and Elastic Site Search Service.

And we will continue investing in offering existing and new products on Elastic Cloud. Some

of our customers have more sophisticated deployments and need help with

centralized provisioning, management, and monitoring our software so we provide

Elastic Cloud Enterprise a paid for proprietary product. There are a few more

things well a lot more than that actually that makes a special. Building a

great company means hiring and retaining great people like how our products are

distributed by design, our company is distributed by intention. Being a

distributed company is about harnessing the inherent

strength of diversity. This allows us to build better products. Build a better

community and rapidly grow our business around the world. We have hubs in

multiple cities. Remote offices around the world and many Elasticians who call

their office home. Thank you for your time to hear our story. We hope that you

have learned how search is foundational to solving not just today's problems but

the more complex challenges organizations will be faced with in the

future.

¿La ENERGÍA OSCURA se está haciendo MÁS FUERTE? - Duration: 9:29.

Hello JJ am curious and inquisitive, welcome to Science Science, that little place,

where we see that the known finite and infinite is unknown.

In the early 1990s, one thing was pretty sure, about, expansion

of the universe.

You may have enough energy density to stop its expansion and collapse again,

could have so little energy density that would never stop expanding, but the

gravity surely slow the expansion, as time went on.

Of course, the slowdown had not been observed, but in theory, the universe,

He had to decelerate.

The universe is full of matter, and the attractive force of gravity, unites all

The matter.

But then he came 1998, and observations, the Hubble Space Telescope, supernovas,

Pues vamos a curiosear.

INTRO

Bitcoin Q&A: What is rendezvous routing? - Duration: 9:54.

"What is rendezvous routing in Lightning? How does it work and what are the benefits?"

Rendezvous is a new routing proposal for the Lightning Network.

It is a slight twist on the way source routing works, so let me first quickly explain source routing.

You have a Lightning node and want to pay another Lightning node on the network.

How do you [send] your payment there?

One of the advantages for privacy and confidentiality of your Lightning payments...

is that the originator / source of the payment decides on the route, which is called source routing.

This is different from how the internet works today, although it did work like that in the beginning.

Source routing means that if your node knows wants to pay some other [Lightning] node out there,

it will use all the information it knows about the public channels broadcast on the Lightning Network.

[Then it will figure out] the best way to get [your payment] there for the minimum fee.

[It will construct a route from] Node A, to node B, to node C, etc. to node F.

It won't just construct one route, but several routes, and then see which one can get a payment through.

If / when node F receives the route, then node F will close the loop and the payment will go through.

Here is a problem with this model: in the Lightning Network, you have public and private channels.

You can set up Lightning channels that are [only] broadcast to [the participants in the channel].

If the source of a payment doesn't know about [these private channels], they can't use them in a route.

Private channels are very useful for maintaining privacy, but they will fail with a source routing mechanism.

[Source routing] also makes it difficult to maintain a level of privacy for the payer or the payee.

Though nobody else knows where the payment is coming from or where the payment is going.

Let's use the example with [nodes] A through F again. If you have the perspective of node D in the route,

they are receiving the payment from node C, and sending an outgoing payment to node E.

Node D doesn't know about node A, node B, or node F.

Node D only knows the previous hop (node C) and the next hop (node E).

Node D [does not see] where it is coming from (node A) or where it is going (node F).

Node D is passing this encrypted blob of routing information to the next node in line.

Node D says to node E, 'Here is a payment and encrypted blob which will tell you where to send it next.'

Node E may even be the recipient. They may open this encrypted blob and see, 'Oh, the payment is for me.'

'It doesn't need to go anywhere else.' Or they may find [instructions] for [routing] it to more nodes.

They will only see one of [the next nodes], [who will be able to decrypt the next layer], and so they keep routing.

That is how onion routing works. It is beautiful. If you are in the middle of that route,

you have no idea where the payment is coming from and no idea where it will go.

All you will see are the two adjacent nodes. You don't know what position you have in that route.

You don't know how long the route is. All routes look like they are the same length.

It will appear as if you are always the second hop, you can't tell anything else from routing [information].

So what if we could do that with private channels? Node A would obviously know they are paying node F,

because they must construct a route to it, but what if node F wanted to be paid anonymously?

This is how rendezvous routing works.

Node F tells node A, the [sender], that they will pay node E and then provide an encrypted route...

to node E about how to get that payment to node F.

When node A [sends a payment], they will construct a route to node E.

Then part of that [routing information] is sent to node F, without node A knowing where it went.

Node E acts as a rendezvous node, a meeting place, between two routes.

One route is constructed by the originator node A, and one is constructed by the destination node F.

Node A doesn't know who node F is. Most importantly, that means node F can use a private channel to node E.

That really makes things interesting in terms of privacy.

Rendezvous has some other interesting implications for improving routing conditions.

You can generalize this concept and create routing mechanisms that are hybrids.

Hybrid [in terms of] the originator [node] deciding how the payment will reach the destination,

the [recipient] of the payment deciding how it will reach its destination, and intermediary nodes deciding...

how to route the packet.

Or some combination where the rendezvous point is closer to the origin or to the destination,

with different parts of the route providing privacy guarantees.

This will be an exciting new development in Lightning that solves privacy problems with routing.

Private channels will be much more usable.

Quick follow-up question which is asked a lot, especially because there is active propaganda on this topic...

by people who have a political agenda against the Lightning Network, rather than technical arguments.

"Has routing on the Lightning Network been figured out yet? If not, [how far along are we],

in terms of getting there, and when will that happen?"

There is a lot of discussion online about [how] 'Lightning Network routing can't work'

even though, of course, it does work in practice.

[They say] 'it can never work because it is an NP-hard problem,' 'it is a travelling salesman problem,'

there is no way to do optimization, or the chosen routing algorithm is the wrong one.

The truth is, you can have different opt-in routing algorithms on the Lightning Network,

both the ones that exist today as well as the ones that are proposed, or may be developed, in the future.

Routing just needs to be optimized appropriately for Lightning as it is now, not what it will be in the future.

Routing is done differently depending on the scale, complexity, and connectivity of the [current] network.

A network that is not hierarchical but very flat will route differently than the hierarchical network.

[A small network] will route differently than a large network, where nodes are connected...

to many other nodes or only a few nodes; this all changes the routing characteristics.

Routing algorithms will apply at different stages in the maturity of the Lightning Network.

Right now, source routing is effective and has strong privacy protections.

It doesn't work perfectly, but perfection is not the goal here.

The goal is to be able to route payments most of the time, in a way that reduces fees.

You [need] a good enough route, not the perfect route.

Not always successful, but 'almost' always a successful and efficient route.

That is what routing does. It is an optimization strategy.

The current strategy works very well for the size and connectivity characteristics of Lightning today.

We don't "solve" routing, just as we don't "solve" scaling. As the network changes in size, the problem changes.

We should "solve" routing for today's Lightning Network, just like we solve scaling for today's Bitcoin network.

Later, the problem will change and arise again. You "solve" it again and again. There is no final solution.

What percentage [of the way] are we [to solve routing]? We are at 100% for Lightning's current scale.

We are close to 0% for the [rest] of its [lifetime], because the future is infinite and routing problems will change.

Is There A Bushcraft Gender Inbalance? | Thursday's Thought - Duration: 4:46.

hi folks I'm Craig Taylor and as always a huge thanks for joining me here on my

youtube channel the bushcraft Padawan and thank you for

joining me in this week's Thursday's thoughts I find it quite interesting to

look at the the back-end data of the back end analytics in my youtube channel

some of the data changes on an almost hour by hour if not video by video basis

it's all over the place there are some pieces of data that barely change and

there's one particular statistic one particular piece of data that has barely

changed since day one of me launching my youtube channel and that data relates to

the gender breakdown of males versus females watching my channel I took a

look at that just before I came up to record this video and it showed me that

ninety-nine point eight percent of people who watch my channel are male

leaving for the mathematicians amongst you points two percent of people that

watch my youtube channel being female and that got me thinking the obvious

first thought was why the hell is there such a disparity between the massive the

significant majority of male viewers versus female why could that be and then

actually I realized quite quickly that's the wrong question because the answer is

quite obvious the reason that there are far more male viewers compared to female

is nothing to do with my channel at least I don't think it is it's to do

with with this bushcrafting generally I think whatever you want to call it if I

look at the other YouTube channels that are out there both the channels

themselves and the people that comment if I look at broadly the the breakdown

the demographic of genders in the Facebook groups that I'm a member of I'm

a member of or the various online communities I'm a member of this

significant majority are they and the minority our female so clearly

the view was on my youtube-channel there just a cross-section of that demographic

so I think the bigger question isn't about why are they more male viewers on

my youtube channel than female I think the bigger question the more important

question is why does this seem to be a far greater male involvement in this

this pastime this pursuit this hobby this interest whatever you want to call

it compared to female and you know what I don't know I can guess

is it because bushcrafting is seen as more manly than is it seen as a manly

pursuit I'm not saying it is I'm guessing I'm literally thinking on my

feet is there a perception that in order to bushcraft whatever that means that

there is a certain physicality involved that there is a certain strength of a

physical aptitude required again I'm not saying that there is don't get on my

case okay I'm guessing I'm thinking on my feet here I just don't know why it's

the first Thursday thought video I've recorded where I haven't had kind of my

own idea I haven't made my mind up I haven't already kind of come to a

conclusion I don't really generally don't know why

it's the case why are there why does there appear to be far more male or

greater male involvement in this this pastime

than female and that's what I'm hoping you the hive mind can chip in and

perhaps offer some suggestions or some ideas I certainly know that there were

ladies out there doing this kind of thing and some incredibly skilled and

talented and proficient people doing it of the female gender but they seem to be

in the minority is that the case I don't know it's certainly what it appears to

be let me know in the comments below why you think it might be that this pastime

has a greater a significantly greater in my opinion male participation than

female thank you as always for watching thank you for allowing me to ramble on

for a few minutes and take up a little bit of time of your date but I am really

stuck on this one I'm really stuck on this week's Thursday's thought so I hope

your weigh in and give me your thoughts like share subscribe all the normal

clutch up at the end of a video and I'll see you very shortly in the next video

Cheers

Is Ashes of Creation Pay to Win? P2W - Duration: 1:34.

Hi friends today, we'll be answering the question, is

Ashes of Creation pay to win?

First let's define pay to win

Pay to win games are games where someone who pays with real money has such a huge advantage that it is literally impossible

for a free-to-play player to keep up. In a pay to win scenario

Gamers are encouraged to spend real-world money on powerful weapons

experience points and even gold. This is great for the company since it creates tons of revenue

but it's terrible for the player.

it creates a huge advantage for players willing to spend lots of money on the game while creating a

disadvantage for other players who are less fortunate.

Fortunately for us, Stephan Sharif the owner and CEO of the game is on record as saying

"Ashes of creation will not repay to win that is our pledge to the community one of the core principles

We set forth with ashes of creation is a very strong desire to maintain the games even playing field."

So the answer to the question, is Ashes of Creation pay to win?

Is no. If you liked this video, please remember to subscribe and share.

Social critic Camille Paglia calls Bradley Cooper's 'A Star is Born' a 'misogynistic disgrace' - Duration: 7:03.

Asocial critic, author and academic has candidly criticized Bradley Cooper's 2018 rendition of 'A Star is Born,' the third remake of a 1937 original film that chronicled both the rise and fall of two Hollywood performers who had fallen in love

Camille Paglia, 71, tears Cooper's directorial debut apart, calling it reductive of Lady Gaga's 'Ally,' while touting the 1976 version with Barbara Streisand as the female lead in an op-ed piece for The Hollywood Reporter

Describing the scene where Cooper's 'Jackson Maine' stumbles and urinates all over himself during 'Ally's' big moment, Paglia said the reduction of 'a triumphant career woman to a gal pal awkwardly hiding a urine spill with a flap of her gown is a misogynous disgrace

' Striking the completely opposite tone in her review of 40-year-old version, Paglia said, 'In retrospect, we can now fully recognize Streisand's "A Star is Born" as a feminist landmark

' In comparing the four versions of "A Star is Born" now available for viewing, Paglia dismissing Cooper's effort as pandering to 'camera-hogging male vanity

' She discusses how the male leads, played in 1937 by Fredric March, 1954 by James Mason (both called 'Norman Maine') and in 1976 by Kris Kristofferson ('John Norman Howard'), were utterly hated until their final moment of redemption

'In contrast, Cooper upgrades himself to lovable stumbling klutz, merely drawing a few hard glances from fellow musicians,' Paglia said

'He thus defeats the entire redemptive pattern of the three earlier films.' She also notes that the story of 'Ally's' meteoric rise is completely missed in the 2018 version, whereas it was celebrated in the stories with the lead female characters played by Janet Gaynor (1937), Judy Garland (1954) and Streisand

Cooper's story, however, is focused instead on 'Jackson's' struggles with intimacy, while a much deeper treatment was given to the same role when played by Gaynor in 1937

'From its opening panorama of the glittering lights of Los Angeles, the 1937 film exhilaratingly documents the sights, rituals and churning mechanism of the movie industry, from clapper boards, screen tests and Central Casting to premieres, awards shows and mobs of ruthless fans (who tear off Vicki's veil at her husband's funeral), Paglia wrote, as part of a greater critique on what she called Cooper's failure to properly set the scene throughout the film

'Clinically inspected and processed by the brusquely efficient makeup and publicity departments, [Gaynor's] Vicki emerges with a new name and life story

She has become that supreme artifact, the movie star.'All this sweeping expansiveness — the wilderness through which the fairy-tale heroine apprehensively makes her way — is missing from the disjointed Cooper film, which claustrophobically contracts to Jackson Maine's stalled relationships with other men

The ravenous industry in which Ally (Gaga) rises is hardly glimpsed.' Seemingly bemused at the fact that Cooper's 'A Star is Born' has been nominated for eight Oscars at this year's Academy Awards, Paglia was especially shocked at the nod for Gaga in the Best Actress category

'[Cooper's film curtails] the magnificent classic role of the ascending woman star who painfully eclipses her self-destructive, alcoholic husband,' Paglia said

'What the script has stingily left to Gaga to play is not leading lady material. Her performance has never belonged in the best actress category because Cooper demoted her to supporting actress from the start

' Paglia notes the differences between 2018 and 1976 from the first scene, where the drunk leading man falls in love with Streisand's character as she tells him, 'You're blowing my act,' in contrast with Gaga's portrayal of a wounded woman who is unsure of her own beauty

Notably, at the end of the '76 film when the credits role,Streisand's name appeared not only as a member of the cast, but also as a producer, under music and costume and wardrobe

In 2018, Cooper's name showed up under director, writer, producer and under the music department

Gaga's name was notably absent in the latter category. In stark contrast to her clear disdain for the 2018 Cooper story, Paglia praises the Streisand remake as 'setting the terms for the new frontier: women in Hollywood seizing control of their own creative universe

' Paglia holds a PhD from Yale University and has been a professor of humanities and media studies at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, since 1984

She is the author of 'Free Women, Free Men,' and 'Break, blow, burn.' Her most recent book is titled, 'Provocations: Collected Essays on Art, Feminism, Politics, Sex, and Education

U.S. Says Alabama Woman Who Regrets Joining ISIS Is Not a Citizen and Cannot Return - Duration: 5:58.

U.S. Says Alabama Woman Who Regrets Joining ISIS Is Not a Citizen and Cannot Return

WASHINGTON An Alabama woman who joined the Islamic State group in Syria wont be allowed to return to the United States with her toddler son because she is not an American citizen, the U.S. said on Wednesday. Her lawyer is challenging that claim.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Hoda Muthana, who is now in a refugee camp in Syria along with others who fled the remnants of the Islamic State, has no legal claim to citizenship and will not be permitted to enter the country.

But her lawyer, Hassan Shibly, insisted she was born in the United States and had a valid passport before she joined the Islamic State in 2014. He says she has renounced the terrorist group and to protect her son regardless of the legal consequences.

Shes an American. Americans break the law, said Shibly, a lawyer with the Florida chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations. When people break the law, we have a legal system to handle those kinds of situations to hold people accountable, and thats all shes asking for.

I hope America doesnt think Im a threat to them and I hope they can accept me.

24 year old American Hoda Muthana describes to her decision to join ISIS in Syria and whether she expects punishment if she is able to return to the U.S.

ABC News @ABC

In a brief statement, Pompeo gave no details as to how the administration determined that Muthana, 24, is not a citizen.

She does not have any legal basis, no valid U.S. passport, no right to a passport nor any visa to travel to the United States, he said.

Shibly said that the administration argues that she didnt qualify for citizenship because her father was a Yemeni diplomat. But the lawyer said her father had not had diplomatic status for months before her birth in Hackensack, New Jersey.

President Donald Trump said later Wednesday on Twitter that he was behind the decision, tweeting that I have instructed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and he fully agrees, not to allow Hoda Muthana back into the Country!

The announcement came a day after Britain said that it was stripping the citizenship of Shamima Begum, a 19 year old who left the country in 2015 with two friends to join the Islamic State and recently gave birth in a refugee camp.

It also comes as the U.S. has urged allies to back citizens who joined IS but are now in the custody of the American backed forces fighting the remnants of the brutally extremist group that once controlled a vast area spanning parts of Syria and Iraq.

Muthanas lawyer said she was just a stupid, naive, young dumb woman, when she became enamored of Islamic State, believing it was an organization that protected Muslims.

Shibly said she fled her family in Alabama and made her way to Syria, where she was brainwashed by IS and compelled to marry one of the groups soldiers. After he was killed, she married another, the father her son who is now 18 months old.

After her second husband was also killed she married a third IS fighter but she became disenchanted with the marriage, and decided to escape, the lawyer said.

Shibly, based in Tampa, Florida, said he intends to file a legal challenge to the governments decision to deny her entry to the country.

Muthanas status had been considered by lawyers from the departments of State and Justice since her case arose, according to one U.S. official who was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity. The official would not elaborate but said Pompeos statement was based on the lawyers conclusions.

The State Department declined to disclose details about her father or Muthanas case, citing privacy law.

Most people born in the United States are accorded so called birthright citizenship, but there are exceptions. Under the Immigration and Nationality Act, a person born in the U.S. to an accredited foreign diplomatic officer is not subject to U.S. law and is not automatically considered a U.S. citizen at birth.

However, Muthanas case is unusual, if not unprecedented in that she once held a U.S. passport. Passports are only issued to citizens by birth or naturalization, according to Seamus Hughes, the deputy director of the Program on Extremism at George Washington University, who has studied the phenomenon of foreign Islamic State fighters and families.

Hughes said the decision is also unusual because it comes just days after the Trump administration urged European nations to repatriate extremists from Syria as the Islamic State nears collapse.

If you are trying to make the case that others should take back their people, it stands to reason that you would do that, too, he said.

Muthana, who dodged sniper fire and roadside bombs to escape, is ready to pay the penalty for her actions but wants freedom and safety for the son, her lawyer said.

In a handwritten letter released by Shibly, Muthana wrote that she made a big mistake by rejecting her family and friends in the United States to join the Islamic State.

During my years in Syria I would see and experience a way of life and the terrible effects of war which changed me, she wrote.

To say that I regret my past words, any pain that I caused my family and any concerns I would cause my country would be hard for me to really express properly.

Shibly said Muthana was brainwashed online before she left Alabama and now could have valuable intelligence for U.S. forces, but he said the FBI didnt seem interested in retrieving her from the refugee camp where she is living with her son.

Muthanas father would welcome the woman back, Shibly said, but she is not on speaking terms with her mother.

Ashfaq Taufique, who knows Muthanas family and is president of the Birmingham Islamic Society, said the woman could be a valuable resource for teaching young people about the dangers of online radicalization were she allowed to return to the United States.

Her coming back could be a very positive thing for our community and our country, Taufique said.

Lenovo's Motorola acquisition is paying off after almost five years of struggles - Duration: 2:00.

While Samsung and Apple may want to quickly forget about the sub-par performance of their smartphone portfolios during the final calendar quarter of 2018, it looks like Huawei is not the only company that can be proud of its mobile device shipments in a time of general industry stagnation

Lenovo's Mobile Business Group (MBG) managed to somehow generate a quarterly profit for the first time in nearly five years, although it's unclear exactly how much money the company's smartphones made between October and December

We're probably not talking about massive gains, as Lenovo recorded an overall net profit of $233 million during this timeframe

Both the MBG and the PC and Smart Devices (PCSD) business contributed to that result, which marks a solid improvement for Lenovo's financial position after the Chinese tech giant lost $289 million in the same quarter of 2017

Lenovo is obviously proud of its PC market-leading status and how its computers have managed to outperform the industry, but that unspecified worldwide profit generated by the mobile division is actually a more significant achievement if you ask us

That's because Lenovo acquired Motorola back in 2014, struggling to combine the two brands and integrate Moto's business in a seamless and lucrative way ever since

At long last, the company executed a strategy to "reduce expenses, streamline the Group's product portfolio, and focus on core markets" in "masterful" fashion

As a result, it seems Moto-branded handsets sold like hotcakes during the holidays in North America, while a "range of new products under the Lenovo brand" quadrupled the company's revenue in China

Unfortunately, we don't have actual sales numbers to share, but Counterpoint Research ranked Lenovo in eight place in global smartphone shipments for the entire year, behind LG

That means you don't need to sell that many phones to make a profit. But you do need a coherent strategy and a "masterful execution" of said strategy

Miranda Lambert's Husband Is A 'Country Music Fanatic' Who Was 'Dying' To Meet Her For Years - Break - Duration: 2:50.

Miranda Lambert's wedding with Brendan McLoughlin was a major surprise. But, here's an even bigger shocker

— The NYC cop is reportedly one of her biggest fans who's had his sights set on her for years!    It's interesting how things come full circle, isn't it? — Like, when you end up marrying your celebrity crush

While that scenario is highly unlikely, that wasn't the case for Brendan McLoughlin, a New York City cop and country music superstar, Miranda Lambert

It turns out that McLoughlin, 27, was a huge fan of Miranda's long before they got hitched, TMZ reports

He reportedly let his friends know that he's had his sights set on the country singer, 35, for years, and that he's just been waiting for his chance with her

And, McLoughlin — who TMZ claims told his friends meeting Miranda was a goal of his — is no stranger to rubbing elbows with Nashville's elite

His past employers include MTV, as well as the artist's entrance at Good Morning America, according to the site

McLoughlin was reportedly well liked at his past jobs, and has a great reputation when it comes to celebrities

So far, McLoughlin's been said to have met Miranda's ex-husband, Blake Shelton, Florida Georgia Line, and more stars

The internet nearly broke when Miranda confirmed on February 16, that she tied the knot in a secret wedding

"In honor of Valentine's Day I wanted to share some news. I met the love of my life

And we got hitched! My heart is full. Thank you Brendan McLoughlin for loving me for…

me," Miranda wrote in a post on Instagram, alongside photos from their wedding day

The couple stood in a sun-kissed, grassy field as she wore a white gown with lace long-sleeves

McLoughlin, who was dressed in a black tux, held her close, as she clutched a bouquet in one photo and his arm in another

Miranda and McLoughlin reportedly tied the knot in Nashville, Tennessee on January 26

It's unclear when the pair got together, as just in August, she admitted that she was "happily single

" — That was after her short-lived romance and split with The Turnpike Troubadours lead singer, Evan Felker

Miranda previously dated musician Anderson East before they split in April. She married to Blake Shelton in 2011, and they divorced in 2015

What is Lactose Free milk? | Ask Organic Valley - Duration: 1:38.

Ever wonder what makes Lactose free milk different from regular milk?

You're not alone.

"Dear Organic Valley, how do you get the lactose out of your lactose free milk?

Glad you asked, here's one of our food scientists with an easy explanation!

I'm a product development food technologist and I've been with Organic Valley for five years.

Organic Valley's Lactose free milk is identical to our organic milk - just without the lactose,

so more people can enjoy it.

Lactose is a complex sugar found only in dairy.

And, in order to digest lactose, you need the enzyme lactase, to split the lactose into

glucose and galactose, two simple sugars.

Organic Valley Lactose Free milk begins as our premium, organic certified, pasture-raised milk.

Then, we introduce a plant-derived lactase enzyme.

It's slowly mixed for 24 hours giving the complex sugars enough time to break down into simple sugars.

Finally, the samples of our Lactose Free milk are tested for quality and to ensure that

the lactose levels are undetectable.

Fun Fact: This process of turning one complex sugar into two simple sugars makes the milk

taste a little bit sweeter, even though no additional sugar is added.

One last thing!

Organic Valley Lactose Free milk is made for people who are lactose intolerant, not those

with a milk protein allergy as our lactose free milk contains both whey and casein milk proteins.

To find Organic Valley Lactose Free milk near you, try our product locator.

Until next time…
