West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini rates Declan Rice as England's best defensive midfielder and believes he is ready to play a key part in Gareth Southgate's side.
Rice pledged his allegiance to England over the Republic of Ireland last week, ending months of speculation over his international future.
The 20-year-old has been a consistent performer for the Hammers this season, playing 27 times and impressing just ahead of the defence where he will start at home against Fulham on Friday.

Tottenham's Eric Dier has occupied a deep-lying role for England in recent times, but Pellegrini believes there is no other English midfielder as good as Rice, even if he is still in the early stages of his career.
Asked if Rice was ready to feature for England in the upcoming games in March against Czech Republic and Montenegro, Pellegrini replied: 'Yes. I think so.
'I think he is ready to play for England and I think that we are just starting the development of him as a player but at this moment his performances are better than every holding midfielder (that England has).'
The West Ham boss believes there is currently no better English holding midfielder than Rice
Only Manchester's City Fernandinho, according to Pellegrini, is on par with Rice at breaking up play before sparking attacks.
For Pellegrini, Rice's most impressive trait is his ability to read what is going on around him and react quickest.
Javier Mascherano, the former West Ham, Liverpool and Barcelona midfielder, was renowned for similar aspects of his game.
Rice reminds Pellegrini of Mascherano, who the Chilean coached when he was manager of River Plate in Argentina.

'I worked with so many young players,' he said. 'I started with Javier Mascherano when he was 17 years old and he was similar to Declan Rice in his mentality.
'When you have 17, 18, 19 years old players arrive in the first team, playing in the first-team changes a bit your mind and you think that you are ready, but in the case of Declan he knows that he is (just) starting and that is important.'
Pellegrini wants Rice to become a player known for his vision and passing ability from deeper positions as well as stopping opponents creating chances.
He added: 'He is improving in a lot of different things in that position. Maybe he must improve more and have a better view of the pitch but he has such good technique that he never misses a pass and he is always keeping his position in the correct moment. He will always be learning.'
