Waching daily Feb 18 2019

(upbeat music)

- Hi I'm Dan Bova and here are three things

entrepreneurs should know today, February 18, 2019.

Today is President's Day, and a good time

to reflect on our first president George Washington's

wise words as we strive for excellence.

He said, in part, "Human happiness and moral duty

are inseparably connected."

In a 108-page study of Facebook's

privacy and advertising practices,

British lawmakers declared that the social media behemoth

behaves like quote, a "digital gangster."

Let's end on a classy note: It's still early,

but I think we may have a winner

of the salesman of the year award.

Mark Wilkinson, a specialist at Sworders auction house,

sold a stuffed whale penis for $6,000.

I hope the whale get's a piece of that action.

Have a great day!

Why 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric is the automaker's newest all electric car - Duration: 1:24.

The 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric is the automaker's newest all-electric car.

With a 64-kilowatt-hour battery pack, the Kona Electric offers a 258-mile driving range.

The Kona Electric is also quite punchy, with its motor rated for 201 horsepower and 290

pound-feet of torque.

Acceleration to 60 miles per hour takes just 7.6 seconds and the car's top speed is limited

to 104 mph.

The Kona Electric gets bodywork tweaks to help improve aerodynamics, cutting its drag

coefficient to just 0.29.

Cargo room is the same as the non-electric model, at 19.2 cubic feet with the seats up

and 45.8 with them down.

A full charge on a Level 2 charger will take less than 10 hours, Hyundai says.

High-speed charging capability is included as standard.

The Kona Electric will be offered in three trim levels, with features including a host

of active-safety tech, wireless phone charging, a head-up display and LED headlights.

Hyundai plans to launch the Kona Electric in California first, as EV sales are strongest

in that state, before rolling it out nationwide.

[Eng Sub] About Is Love 大约是爱 Episode 24 - Duration: 42:36.

Episode 24 Translated by jasminechaitea.blogspot.com

Fine, whether as his friend or his girlfriend,

I want to thank you for Wei Qing.

Do you know how many years I've wished

that Wei Qing can find someone he truly trust

and help him get rid of the curse on his body?

I can only say I'll do my best.

After all, I don't understand anything.

Oh right, I've heard Wei Qing said

that you think his illness is a mental illness?

Based off my diagnosis and analysis,

I think his body reaction

is related to post-traumatic stress disorder.

He lost memory of his 18-years old adolescence.

You know about this, right?

Yes, this is also a form of self-protection.

Is it because his father passed away?

Accurately speaking, his father was murdered.

Moreover, Wei Qing was the first one to discover his father's corpse.

So I believe during this period,

something happened that made his body

develop such a reaction.

Of course, in the past years, I've been,

I've been trying to convince him to try hynoptic treatment.

This way we can at least recover these lost memories.

But he is still avoiding it.

Can't you stop minding my business?

Do your diagnosis and I'll take my medicine.

As long as you cure me and I pay you, isn't that all that matters?

Do you know severe allergy

can lead to disseminated intravascular coagulation?

And you're going to a party with a body like this?

It's because of this body that I must attend the party.

Perhaps there might be a woman in this world who I'm not allergic to.

Listen, don't interfere my personal life.

Just cure my illness and everything is good.

Okay?

But since it's this severe,

I shouldn't be able to do much, right?

Not necessarily, you have to know

to cure mental disorder, there is an essential element

and that is to attain one's complete trust.

Even though I've known him for 10 years,

I think compared to you,

he trusts you more.

How is that possible?

How is it impossible? A person's body is the most honest.

Look,

Wei Qing's body is like a fortress.

With the mere rustle of leaves in the wind,

this fortress will become alerted.

But this fortress has no response towards you.

At least, from the perspective of his body,

you are not his enemy.

Why do these words sound so weird?

Zhou Shi.

I have to thank you.

Thank you for letting us see hope.

Also thank you for letting me believe

Wei Qing can be cured.

So I also ask that you

to be confident in yourself.

I do have confidence

but what exactly should I do?

First,

I'll ask that you let him into your life.

Wei Qing, wake up!

Wei Qing!

Do you know that

bothering someone in the morning can lead to your execution?

Mayday, mayday, something's going on.

She's inside!

What inside? Inside where?

There's a woman who crawled into someone's home. Perhaps a thief.

How great!

I've almost awaken everyone up in this village. How are you still asleep?

You're really something! You're even wearing headphones!

Are you crazy? It's not even 7 yet.

Do you know I fell asleep around 5 am last night?

I'm being nice to help cure you. Who knows you sleep this late?

You're really ---

Hey there, person inside!

You've already been surrounded.

I urge you to come out and surrender

or else we'll barge inside!

You must have seen too much Hong Kong dramas!

Mr. Wei, we are the security guards of this village.

We've discovered a thief has climbed into your home from the window.

I suggest you to stay in your room.

We've already notified the police.

A thief has entered your home? I'll go lock the doors.

How did you get in here just now? Climbed through the windows.

What should we do now?

Go explain it to them yourself.

What gibberish are you writing?

What gibberish? I've taken great troubles to sort this out.

It's related to your treatment.

You've read all of these books? Of course.

Touched? Are you touched to the point with no words?

Writing is very ugly.

It's sufficient that I can read it.

Do you know all these books were recommended by Dr. Chen?

I've spent a few days and nights reading them.

I wasn't even this serious for the college exam.

Allergy is a form of bodily self-protection.

Some people's immune system

have problems identifying foreign objects.

Don't understand.

For example,

you're allergic to peanuts. Once you consume peanuts,

your body will be alerted and will enter into a form of self-protection.

It's an allergic reaction for alerting you

to not touch it. If you continue, there is danger.

I understand.

Besides food, is it possible to be allergic to human?

For example, I touch you

and then you become allergic.

There is a possibility. After all, the human body is very complex.

Skin, scent, hair, and bodily fluid

can all be an allergen.

But this is not always the case.

For example, there are people who are not allergic to eating mangoes

but is allergic to drinking mango juice.

And they're not allergic to drinking artificial mango juice.

In conclusion, it is very complex.

Oh heavens, just kill me!

Oh heavens!

Alright, alright. I'll get to the subject.

There are different levels of distance between people.

There is an American psychologist who defined four levels of distance.

According to the level of intimacy, from bottom to top, the levels are

public space, 3.7 to 7.6 meters.

personal space, 46 to 122 cm.

intimate space, 15 to 44 cm.

close space, less than 15 cm.

Even though I don't know how you've become severely allergic to others,

but now that you can't come into contact with others,

then we should remember these four distances.

If you don't want others to find out your secret,

you just have to maintain a 1 meter personal space

and exclude others to the outside of the green circle.

Only the most trusted person can enter here.

Or a person who has come into contact with you

and didn't cause an allergic reaction.

Wei Qing!

Have you been listening?

I've heard it. So long as someone enters the green circle

and I don't develop a reaction towards them,

this means this person is safe to me.

Then which circle are you in? I'm,

I'm probably in this circle.

That can't be right.

Why do I think you're

in this circle?

Besides, if you want to cure me,

we should be at that level.

About that ---

Enough. Tell me what you've planned to cure me.

I'm preparing to use systematic desensitization.

I'll take advantage of the allergen

and one by one eliminate

your allergic reaction and behavior.

What are you going to do?

Write out all the people and things

you hate, ranked.

We'll attack each one individually

and then eliminate your antagonism towards them.

Things or people I hate.

You!

Cat.

Extraterrestrial cats are so cute.

Can't believe there are people who hate cats.

People like you

should be banished to a ghost town until death.

Why is it that me hating cats seems like I've stepped on your tail?

Anyways, I've written it out.

Tell me what you plan to do.

He Wei. Zhang Shuai.

How did Zhang Shuai offend you?

Do I need a reason to hate someone?

Then what about me? Why did you write me down?

What do you mean?

Fine, I'll head over now.

Let's go, come with me.

I still haven't eaten yet.

Then I'll change my clothes first. In the time being, quickly eat something.

Once I'm done changing, we'll leave.

Did Xue Zi say why she wants to see me?

She only said she has something to discuss.

But since she asked to meet at Xun Art Gallery,

it should be related to Yun Ma's Art.

Xue Zi took the initiative to invite me.

Are there any new movements from He Wei and Director He?

Director He transferred all of her stocks

to He Wei.

He Wei is currently the largest shareholder of Yun Ma's Art.

She really trusts her beloved brother.

But this is also good.

I can wholeheartedly

make unbridled attacks on He Wei.

Oh right.

What is the treatment plan you were talking about?

First step, start from everyday interaction.

You'll slowly get used to interacting with others.

Come here.

What are you doing?

I have to become familiar with interaction.

I don't have much feelings holding your hand.

That's better. Let's go. Let's go to the Xun Art Gallery.

When you see Wei Qing, remember to come into contact with him.

Whether it's holding his hand or embracing him,

remember you must touch him.

Why? This doesn't seem to be part of my job duties.

I just want to verify something. Anyways, you both know each other.

It's nothing to greet him.

Remember, be a little natural.

Can you do it?

Okay, I understand.

Wei An and I will go inside. You can stay in the car.

It's boring in the car. Can't you let me

go inside and look at Xun Ran's paintings and wait for you?

Go wait in the car.

Why are they both here?

Oh I forgot

that Director Wei doesn't really like Xun Ran's paintings.

Sorry for looking at it without consideration.

Each person's liking is different. If Miss Xue likes it,

you can continue.

No need.

There will always be time to look at the paintings.

After all, I am a shareholder of this art gallery.

I've invited Director Wei today

to discuss the operations of the art gallery.

I wonder what ideas Miss Xue have.

Take it easy, I'm still waiting for someone.

Apologies, Director Xue. I'm late.

Long time no see, Director Wei.

Director Wei,

a beauty wants to shake your hand.

Your response is a bit cold.

Miss Xue.

What a coincident? We meet again. Yes, really coincidental.

Chairman?

Assistant An. Director He.

Why are all of you here?

Fei Fei, you're here too!

You know each other?

Yes, we're flatmates.

Zhou Shi, why are you here?

I'm off today so I've come here to look at the paintings.

Don't you see me discussing here? Leave first.

Sorry! Sorry! I'll leave now. This ---

Fei Fei, you have something?

I ---

Director He,

I think this Miss, Fei Fei, should also take a break.

We still have other things to discuss.

Fine. Thanks Miss Xue. We'll leave right now.

Let's find a place to sit and discuss.

Wait, why are you both here? Why are you here?

I've come with Wei Qing. Tell me why you want to shake his hand?

He Wei told me to do it. He said he wants to verify something.

He certainly knows something. Do you know you've been used as his gun?

What do you mean?

Anyhow, this He Wei doesn't have any good intentions.

Why did Xue Zi call you all over?

Want to know?

Yes. Let's go!

What is Miss Xue's intention for calling us over?

Ever since I've become Yun Ma's shareholder,

I haven't done much.

After the exhibition was held, Yun Ma's stocks have continued to drop.

I want to take this opportunity to

discuss development plans for Yun Ma's Arts.

Yun Ma's Arts has been managed by

my sister, Director He.

So we won't trouble Miss Xue.

I've heard Director He has transferred all her shares to you.

Yes, so I'm currently Yun Ma's Arts' largest shareholder.

Used to be.

What do you mean?

In the past few days, I've bought shares from other shareholders.

With the rise of Yun Ma's Arts' stock,

I've spent quite a fortune for the acquisition.

But this is worth it. I currently own 35% of Yun Ma's shares.

Compared to Director He's 33% and

Director Wei's 32%,

it's a little higher.

Therefore,

I am Yun Ma's Arts' largest shareholder.

What exactly do you want?

Yun Ma's Arts is currently losing money.

Of course, we should consider its future development.

The best way

is for me to control it personally.

This also helps you out, Director Wei.

Because of Director He, you allow Yun Ma's Art to continue losing money

and have endured lots of stress.

So,

the first thing I would do once I take control

is to excuse Director He from her duties. What?!

Xue Zi,

you're making a sneak attack.

When you told us to sell our shares,

this wasn't what you said.

In the business area, circumstances change.

Director He, you're also a businessman.

Don't tell me you don't understand this rationale.

This Xue Zi is very formidable.

Even Wei Qing and He Wei, these two scoundrels, were played by Xue Zi.

Seems like she has been playing dumb from that start.

If Director He really gets dismissed, what do you think would happen?

Yun Ma has been her lifetime work.

She will surely become insane.

Wei Qing probably won't let her do this.

Miss Xue,

good tricks.

But please don't forget the two words in front of Yun Ma Arts.

As long as these two words are still there,

you can't do whatever you want.

Director Wei, stop deceiving yourself.

Yun Ma Arts only nominally belongs to Yun Ma.

In actuality, it is operating on its own.

Since I am the largest shareholder,

I can absolutely change its name.

I'll call it

Si Nuo Arts, what do you think?

But Director Wei, rest assured.

I won't do this.

After all,

I want to continue working with Director Wei.

Regarding the next step in the operations plan,

besides stripping Director He's responsibilities,

I've decided to cut down the number of artworks

and release a jewelry designed by Xun Ran in cooperation with Si Nuo Corporation.

I will arrange someone to send you both the details.

I'll go now

and wait for your response.

Can't believe we were played by a woman.

Didn't you say she's easy to deceive?

Didn't you say everything is under your control? Then what is this now?

Why are you venting on me? You're so formidable

that you've been working with her but haven't you also been played by her?

Wei An, let's go.

Oh no, they're leaving, let's go.

Sit, sit.

Let me tell you

it's really hilarious.

Stop pretending.

I saw you both eavesdropping.

Oh right, we're considered neighbors.

Don't blame me for not advising you.

Don't go too close to He Wei.

Don't worry,

I know what stuff he's made of.

What stuff am I made of.

The same stuff that I am.

Translated by jasminechaitea.blogspot.com

You were quite clever just now.

Of course, I can't

let you be humiliated in front of others or else it would be neglect of duty.

Oh right, does He Wei

know about your disorder?

The ex-girlfriends were arranged by him last time.

He's my relative. It's inevitable that he would know something after all these years.

I've tried using a cover-up to confuse him

but recently he has been continously testing the water. Perhaps he does know something.

He's very despicable.

He also made use of Fei Fei.

I don't care about him. I'm worried about Xue Zi.

Oh right, don't tell me she's really firing Director He?

You have to think of something.

If you really wanted to do this,

she wouldn't tell us. She would act first and then tell us afterwards.

Since she told us first, she has other plans.

It's just that

I currently don't know what she wants exactly.

Listening to you now, it seems like you have a way to resolve this.

There is a way. I can think of it,

He Wei will also think of it soon.

We'll have to see who speaks first.

What is the plan?

You don't have to worry about the plan.

And it's not your business to think about this. What you should do

is think about how to cure my disorder.

Start the next step of your plan.

I know.

Why did you bring me here? There's so many people.

It's because there's lots of people that it's better to treat you here. Let's go.

I'm not going.

Don't worry, I'll protect you.

Let me go, you bear woman!

Why is your arm red?

Perhaps you're allergic to me now?

No, it's because there's a lot of people here.

Oh, I know,

it's a psychological disorder.

How about this? Close your eyes.

How can I walk with my eyes closed?

Don't worry, I'll hold you. Don't be afraid.

Do you feel much better now?

A bit better.

Then let's stop right here.

We'll stop walking forward.

Don't worry, I'll be by your side, don't be afraid.

Deep breathe in.

Just imagine I'm the only one around you.

How is that possible?

Everyone is speaking around me, how can I imagine you as the only one?

We'll continue to walk forward, don't be afraid.

I'll protect you.

Where is your sunglasses?

In my pocket.

Translated by jasminechaitea.blogspot.com

You should be alright now.

Let's sit down and rest here.

Sit? Sit where? Is it clean?

Don't worry, I've placed something on top. Sit.

Now, slowly take off your sunglasses and take a look.

We've already walked this far?

See? It's not as hard as you think of it.

Thanks to you.

Egg waffles!

I want one!

Okay.

Try it.

No way!

It's really delicious, try it. No.

Just one bite, I beg you.

Acting peevishly doesn't work on me.

Fine, if you don't eat it, I'll leave now. Stay here alone.

You ---

Ay, you can't just swallow it. You have to chew it

No, no, here's another bite.

How is it? It's okay, right?

See? You were just scaring yourself.

It's like interacting with people. As long as you relax,

you'll be able to do it.

Yes,

Miss Zhou is right.

Stinky tofu!

I also want one! Okay.

It can't be.

Come, taste it!

Impossible!

Just one bite, it's very tasty!

I rather eat egg waffles than eat this!

If you don't try it, how do you know if it's tasty?

No, I don't want to eat. Take a bite.

Sorry! Sorry!

So stinky!

It was an accident! Don't!

I've pinched this, right?

It's nothing. You were anxious before.

It's normal that you applied pressure.

I'm sorry.

I already said it's nothing.

Well, didn't I spill it on your body?

We'll consider it a truce.

No.

That was a trivial matter.

If it wasn't for you, perhaps I would never

be able to linger in crowds.

If it wasn't for you,

I wouldn't have tried egg waffles at the mall.

But,

thanks to you,

I slowly begin to feel I am a normal person.

Thank you.

No need to thank me.

From today on,

I will completely hand myself over to you to treat.

Don't worry, let me handle it.

I promise I'll let you be like a normal person.

You can touch whoever you want.

Oh wait, this came out wrong.

Then how about you can be touched by whomever.

Please be quiet.

Oh right,

there's something I need you to do.

What is it?

You're moving to his place again?

I can't tell you the details but I can only tell you

that Wei Qing is encountering something serious.

And I am the only one that can help him resolve it.

All of his previous actions were caused by this.

So last time when he moved here, it was also for you to help him?

Yes, he has helped me many times

so this time I'm just repaying his kindness.

Alright, as long as he doesn't bully, then it's fine.

Don't worry, even if he wants to bully me, he's incapable.

Fine, go. If he does bully you, call me immediately.

Qiu Jing and I will come over immediately to save you.

I want a hug.

Alright, go.

Bye. Bye. Get there safe.

You don't have to remember these right away.

I'll leave the board here. Just remember to read it.

I'd rather move out from here.

Eat it in the dining room.

I'm just eating an apple.

There's juice.

There's so many rules.

A good habit can change your disposition.

This is beneficial to your future.

Where is the guest room?

Is it prepared?

You're not sleeping in the guest room. You're sleeping with me.

Sleep --- sleep with you?

Why?

You know I often have nightmares.

But I realized when I'm with you,

I'm able to sleep well.

So I was thinking

since we need to come into contact, why don't we become more intimate?

But don't worry, I'll only be resting on you.

I won't do anything else.

It's fine that you want me to move here.

But you want me to sleep with you.

I really can't accept that.

Even if there's nothing between us,

if others find out, they will misunderstand us.

Therefore, I'm sorry.

My apologies, I didn't think it through thoroughly.

I'll go to the guest room now.

What is it?

Finishing it in the dining room.

Forget it, just eat it.

I'll eat it above the napkins.

I promise I won't drip anything on the floor.

What is this?

Sister, don't be angry.

If you get sick --- Shut up.

Didn't you say you've handled everything? Nothing can go wrong?

Then what is this?

When we negotiated with Xue Zi,

you were also present.

You've heard what she promised. Who would have known

she would go back on her words afterwards.

If Xue Zi was able to buy our shares,

that means she can also buy shares from others.

Sister, don't fret yet. To save Yun Ma's Arts,

there is a way.

What way?

We can say Yun Ma's Arts is currently owned by three shareholders.

The first is Xue Zi. The second is me.

The third is Wei Qing.

If Wei Qing is able to give me a portion of his shares,

With 3% more,

I will hold 36% of the shares,

which makes me the largest shareholder.

Then we'll tell him to transfer it.

How could it be this easy? How is it possible for Wei Qing

to easily sell his shares to us? Moreover, I think

this was set up by him.

He has an unclear relationship with Xue Zi.

It must be him who told Xue Zi to buy out other shareholders.

That way, Yun Ma's Arts will fall into both their hands

and they can kick us out for sure.

Then what should we do?

We can't just watch them steal Yun Ma's Arts away from us.

How about this? Why don't we ascertain his intentions?

And then think of a plan afterwards.

Translated by jasminechaitea.blogspot.com

This phone number currently can't be reached.

What is it? He's not answering.

Call again.

Hello. What's going on? Why are you picking up now?

Say whatever you need to say.

What are you planning to do with Xue Zi?

What can I do now?

Stop pretending! So long as we work together,

that's the only way to suppress Xue Zi. Yun Ma's Arts

was left behind by your father. Are you this cruel

to allow it fall into the hands of an outsider?

Then transfer your shares to me.

You know that's impossible.

Then there's nothing for us to discuss.

Wei Qing, I have my limit.

I'm not begging you, I'm helping you.

Frankly speaking, whomever Yun Ma's Arts falls to

has nothing to do with me. I would still receive my share of dividends.

But it's different for you. If Yun Ma's Arts

were to really fall into the hands of Si Nuo Corporation,

do you think your Yun Ma Corporation wouldn't be affected?

Once the foundation breaks, the entire building can't stay standing.

Moreover, you've been calling yourself a filial son.

Now it's time for you to show your filial piety.

If you transfer your shares, perhaps my sister will forgive you.

It's possible for me to transfer my shares.

Tell her to discuss with me.

What did he say?

He wants to speak with you in person.

Why are you not sleeping at this hour? What are you doing?

What is this?

It's Contra, haven't you played this before?

Sorry brother. We're from different generations.

I've never even seen this antique before.

Play with me for a bit.

No, I want to sleep.

Just for a bit.

How do you play this?

Wait a second.

Let's change it to multiplayer first.

Hold this.

This is up, down, left, right. This is shooting and this is to jump.

This is to defend and this is to retreat.

Let's start.

Does this mean I've died?

You're stupid. Why aren't you hiding when someone is beating you?

It's my first time playing.

Let's play again.

How did I die again?

I don't want to play anymore.

You can't leave.

Why?

You have to stay with me. I can't fall asleep.

It's not my fault that you can't fall asleep.

Of course it's your fault. You're not sleeping with me.

What kind of logic is this?

I don't care. I'm going to sleep.

No.

Either you sleep with me or none of us can sleep.

You!

How about this?

If you feel shy for sleeping on the same bed,

we can sleep on the couch since we've done that before.

That should be fine, right?

Great, all set. Go get the blankets.

Or else none of us can go to sleep.

Rascal!

Don't think about locking up the guest room.

This is my home.

I can open whichever room I want.

You're back! That was quite quick.

Did you shower already?

Of course I've showered already. Here, smell me!

No need!

Good night.

Good night.

The lights aren't turned off yet.

No need.

Turn off the lights.

How advanced!

Hello everybody Ryan Bateman here from Deque Systems and the marketing team here

I'm here with our esteemed guest Shadi who I'll ask to introduce himself

in a moment but we're here today just to record a brief conversation talking

about EN 301 549 and I'd like to get from Shadi a little bit of advice and

insight into what it is, and specifically how we can help US businesses prepare

and and get involved. And of course bottom-line be more accessible, and more

so in Europe. So Shadi, if you would please tell us a little bit about

yourself. Hi everyone so yeah my name is Shadi Abu Zahra I work for the World

Wide Web Consortium w3c, which is the international standards body that

develops web standards and part of that is the web accessibility initiative WAI,

that focuses on making the web accessible to people with different

kinds of disabilities. Awesome, thanks Shadi so much for for joining us

really. Could you.. let's start general, could you let our audience know

what digital accessibility is if they don't already know? Yeah good question, so

digital accessibility is basically making all the electronic products

accessible and it's I compared very similar to the physical accessibility,

it's the electronic version of a curb cut or a ramp, so basically how do you

make software and web content documents but also hardware in a way that people

different kinds of disabilities can use it. So let me give you an example, for

example providing text alternatives for images so that these can be read out

loud by people using screen readers who cannot see the screen, or captions to

provide the audio alternative for people who cannot hear the content and as we

continue having more digital content and digital products, digital accessibility

is becoming immensely important to include people disabilities

but it also provides benefits for many other people.

Fantastic, thanks Shadi. So let's let's drill down a little bit more

specifically, I think if you could explain maybe first your role in EN 301

549 and then tell us in general; What is it? Do I have to say that whole thing

every time is there is there a nice nickname or shorthand

like like we have for wuh-cag, WCAG? So what is EN 301 549?

Great question yeah, so unfortunately there is no nickname, the actual title of

the document is even longer. I think it's accessibility requirements for

digital for information and communication technologies or something

like this I I don't even remember the title, I'm a bit ashamed

because it's it's actually quite long. So in a nutshell, this is a standard that

covers all ICT, so all digital products really, from a cell phone all the way to

a printer, ATMs and also electronic documents and software and

web. So this is where our role as w3c came in. Our interest is really to

make sure that there is common so called harmonized standards for accessibility.

It really doesn't make sense to have a set of standards in Europe and a set of

standards in the US and the set of standards in other countries you know

the the Internet is global the Internet knows no boundaries and so we need a

common set of accessibility requirements makes the market stronger, it makes it

easier for accessibility. And the w3c web content accessibility guidelines WCAG

has really become the international standard and so part of this EN 301

549, which is the technical requirements for digital

accessibility. The part that covers web is actually WCAG 2.1.

So the requirements in there, will refer you to the web content accessibility

guidelines 2.1. At the same time also the sections in that european standard

for electronic documents, so a document that is not available on the web that

you have a USB Drive or on your computer and for software also

non web software, these also follow WCAG using a w3c working group note called

WCAG to ICT. So basically an interpretation of WCAG for these

context. For example, I'll give you a very simple example if you have requirement

for color contrast, color luminosity ratio to make sure that there is sufficient

contrast between foreground and background between the text and the

background. It really makes sense to apply that not just on websites but also

on say software and electronic documents. it doesn't make sense to have a set of

requirements when you publish your document online but then if you have it

on your hard disk or if you share it you know with your colleagues via the

internet that you then have a separate set of accessibility requirements. So

here we we have as the boundaries between these areas is diminishing,

between software and web and content and so on, we we have now more Universal

standards or more new universal requirements that apply to all these

different types of content. Awesome thank you so much super valuable insight. I

think one thing our audience is going to be concerned about and I think the

reference you made to WCAG is a good one in comparison for local

understanding. Well you know, a lot of us in the US are are used to understanding

what WCAG is. Does that same comparison work when it comes to legal

requirements and compliance how does EN 301 549 affect legal

requirements? Right yeah, it's it's very similar in

different parts of the world. So for example, in the US the Section 508 law,

which is a procurement law, as many of you may know has a technical standards

along with it the technical requirements which by the way also use WCAG refer

to WCAG, also for software and for document so we have the same

requirements now in Europe and in the US and in many other parts of the world.

So it's it's you can imagine the EN 301 549 as this technical standards part

of the u.s. section 508 without the policy aspects, without the legal aspects.

This is separated different member states and also the European Commission

has certain policies that then enforce this technical standard in different

contexts. That's fantastic, what next steps I think would you

recommend that US businesses take? Right so, on the one side there is a lot of

policy progress and developments happening in Europe right now.

For example the EN 201 549 is being used right now by the

so called Web Accessibility Directive. This is a European legislation so it

applies across all European Member States. On public bodies public agencies

being required to adhere to that technical standard and so each of the

Member States so each of the European countries that are part of the European

Union have to, the technical name is transposed, so actually adopt that

European policy into their national legislative framework. And so I think

this is a major change right now a major push that

there is a common set of requirements some European countries already had such

laws in place, others had different kinds of laws, so now there's a more common

definition of the accessibility requirements for different kinds of

public bodies. At the same time right now in the European Parliament there's

progress on the so-called European Accessibility act, the EAA, and you can

imagine that somehow a little bit similar to the ADA.

So it's an anti-discrimination law that would make it also that would apply to

public services and and products you know from private businesses but that

are public in nature. For example banks and Airlines and retail shops.

These kinds of businesses would potentially be addressed by this new

policy. So there's really a lot of progress right now. So accessibility is

becoming more-so important in Europe just like it is in the US. But really one

of the important things to remember is to move away from just the you know the

legal requirement, it's of course important as a driver and to recognize

that access for people with disabilities is is a right under the UN Convention on

the Rights of persons with disabilities. But at the same time really recognize

the business benefits and we have resources, a business case for example,

that explains additional benefits of accessibility.

Again very compared to the curb cut, so as we say you know when you have a curb

cut when you do that so often the the the cost of implementation becomes much

smaller in some cases maybe even negligible, but at the same time it

benefits people using a bicycle, people pushing trollies and so on. It's

the same with with digital accessibility, when I am able to use something let's

say by voice because I have a physical disability and

can only interact with a computer using voice,

it also supports hands-free browsing for example being able to use digital

products you know at home to automate your home to make your lights go on and

off or to turn on after the television. Things like this they're becoming part

of everyday are actually very often start off as assistive technologies. So

what I'm trying to say in a nutshell is that accessibility is innovation, it

provides benefits it improves usability and appeal basically for many more

audiences. So there are many benefits in addition to it being a legal

requirement in many parts around the world. Those those business benefits are

so often overlooked that's fantastic that pointed that out. I want to thank

you very much for your contributions, for for spending time here with me today, and

helping explain this. So thanks again very much. Thank you for having me it's

been a pleasure.

Why Denmark Is .07 Seconds Behind The World - Duration: 6:30.

- I'm just outside the town of Gudhjem

on the northeast coast of Bornholm in Denmark.

It's a little out of the way.

To get to this point from Copenhagen

I had to drive across the Oresund bridge and through Sweden...

GPS: "Take the second exit and stay on 'Dag-hammer-schultz-vag'."

...then take a 90 minute ferry ride, and then drive across the island.

But this island, or more specifically, a north-south line across this island

starting right here, is the only bit of Denmark that is exactly

15 degrees east of Greenwich in London, exactly 1/24th of the way around the Earth.

which means that the sun is highest in the sky here

exactly one hour before Greenwich.

This lines defines Central European Time for Denmark.

To explain why there's a problem with that,

we need to talk to someone back where I started.

- The observatory we are seeing here

used to be the official timekeeping of Denmark,

so it actually provided what time the national time in Denmark was.

In 1893 a law was put in effect in Denmark,

at which point the time of Denmark was synchronised with international time zones.

So at that point in time, communications, transportation across borders

had become so fast, so international that it was becoming a problem

that every country had its own national timescale.

- Back before railways and modern telecommunications,

every town and village in the world ran on its own time.

12 o'clock was when the sun was highest in the sky, on average, wherever you were.

That's called mean solar noon.

Once the world started to move fast enough, though,

every town and village having its own time became a problem.

And steadily over decades, governments agreed that the official legal time

would be the same in each region, in each time zone.

And that each time zone would be offset by a round number

compared to the time at Greenwich in London.

The closest round number to Copenhagen was one hour, 15 degrees east,

and so Denmark chose that.

The clocks everywhere in the country were changed to agree with mean solar noon

at this line.

But then along came the Information Age,

and it turned out that wasn't quite good enough

because the Earth wobbles.

- Earth wobbles a bit in its rotation

and that means that it's not exactly the same all year round,

and more than that, Earth rotation also slows a bit over time

because of tidal forces from the Moon.

If we were actually, in Denmark to follow our own time,

like our mean solar time,

we would be off with some hundredths of a second,

and this would actually make it difficult

for Danish financial companies, for instance,

to actually trade on stock markets.

- Once humanity had got the ability to track the Earth's rotation precisely

we found out that noon drifts a little,

by a tiny and different fraction of a second each day.

And when computers, and clocks, and scientists around the world

need to be accurate to within that tiny fraction of a second,

that's a problem.

So the scientific community agreed to ignore the wobble

and created Coordinated Universal Time, UTC,

which doesn't care about the Earth's movement.

To your phone, your computer and to your bank,

to basically everyone apart from astronomers,

a day is precisely 86,400 seconds.

As measured by the average of a network of atomic clocks around the world.

If you want to be really detailed, then on screen is the full formal definition of a day.

And every time the Earth's wobble threatens to drift out of sync

with our standard, we add a leap second to UTC,

either skipping a second or counting a second twice

to get UTC back in line with the annoyingly real Earth and stars.

The catch is, [sighs] Denmark never updated its laws.

- The official law in Denmark is defined by a law from 1893

which states that Denmark follows mean solar time.

In reality Denmark follows the Universal Coordinated Time,

the atomic clock time which is used all around the world.

So I made a petition to Parliament in Denmark

to try to change this law.

Some Danish media took up this story

and following that, a member of the Danish Parliament

actually made a question to the minister,

and the minister then said that he

was actually interested in looking into this

and maybe make changes to the law.

- As I record this, the error is tiny,

it's only about .04 seconds,

but that's just based on when I happen to be filming here.

By the time this video goes live,

the error is predicted to be at about .06 seconds.

By the end of the year, it'll be about a quarter of a second.

I've written some code that will keep checking the clocks and automatically

update the title of this video as we go.

At least until the code breaks and I can't be bothered to fix it anymore.

The error could get all the way to .9 seconds

before a leap second arrives to correct it.

But it's not like phones, and computers and stock exchanges here in Denmark

follow Danish law. They don't pay attention to the stars.

They all just use UTC instead, and ignore the outdated legislation.

So does it matter?

- I think that laws should in general

be in accordance with reality [laughs]

and if not you should at least

decide that we want to keep it this way actively.

Denmark does not have any official time laboratory,

so we rely on the time services from neighbouring countries.

This may put us at a disadvantage compared to other countries.

- If everyone agrees to ignore a law,

and the government doesn't care to enforce it, that's fine.

As long as the government keeps deciding not to enforce that law

and also to ignore the hypocrisy

that government is ignoring its own laws.

Fixing that shouldn't be the highest thing on the priority list,

but it'd be nice to do it at some point.

After all the United States moved to UTC in 2007 with the America COMPETES Act.

And the UK...

Ah. Er. [clears throat]

Y'know, it's probably not a good time

to bother the British government right now.

It can wait.

We've got time.

Meghan Markle news: Is Meghan Markle's accent changing to be more BRITISH? - Duration: 2:58.

Meghan Markle, 37, has been living in the UK permanently since her engagement to Prince Harry was announced on November 27, 2017

The royal couple married on May 19, 2018, with Meghan officially taking on the title of The Duchess of Sussex

Despite being resident in the UK for only 15 months, the California native appears to have adopted British intonations into her speech as revealed in shared online videos

Plenty of people have weighed in on Twitter to say they believe Meghan's inflection is sounding more British

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton tweeted: "Meghan Markle's got a case of the Madonna! She's now speaking with a British accent! It happens! have you heard Lindsay Lohan talk lately?"But what do the experts say? Marisa Brook, assistant professor in linguistics at the University of Toronto, believes the Duchess has purposely adapted how she speaks to fit in with the Royals

Speaking to the BBC, the language expert cited Meghan's walkabout in Birkenhead in January as an example, when she told a well-wisher "I do appreciate that"

Ms Brook said: "The vowel in 'that' is further back in the mouth than you would expect for American English

" She added Meghan has "developed a style that sounds very English-aristocratic for interacting with the public"

Ms Brook added: "I think a lot of it is deliberate on her part. She's developed a style to be used when directly talking with the British public

"These are the situations where people might be judging her in public instantly, where it really benefits her to sound British and aristocratic

" Phonetics and pronunciation specialist Dr Geoff Lindsey also noted some key changes in Meghan's speech since landing in the UK

He told the BBC: "There does seem to be something in the idea that Meghan Markle's speech has changed a bit, at least in some settings"

He added: "There are occasional vowels which sound a bit more British", referring to Meghan's pronunciation of the word "all" which he says has seen some "subtle" changes

University of Reading phonetics professor Jane Setter also agreed there were some changes to the Duchess's vowel pronunciation when in public but said "it's not huge"

She put this down to a common behavioural practice known as accommodation, which is adopted by people when speaking to different individuals

Professor Setter said: "We all do this to some extent - speak differently with different people

"In a social role like the one Meghan is now in, where she has to meet lots of people and basically make a good impression on them in a short space of time, the ability to do this is very useful

"But it would be weird to take this too far. I don't think British people would accept her if she suddenly started sounding like she was in the cast of EastEnders - or spoke like the Queen

" But Professor Paul Kerswill, a sociolinguist from the University of York, was unconvinced, saying "there really isn't much to go on"

He added: "Meghan is pretty consistent in her accent. whether acting a 'FedEx girl' in 2011, or a lawyer in Suits the same year

"

Star Wars Lightsaber Academy Is Jedi Boot Camp - Duration: 1:09.

Star Wars Lightsaber Academy Is Jedi Boot Camp

Join the Jedi or the Sith with Hasbros new Star Wars Lightsaber Academy launching in 2019.

NEW YORK Ive played with a few gadgets that have promised to make me a , but the latest toy from Hasbro might soon become my favorite. Launching in Fall 2019 priced at dollar 49.99 , Star Wars Lightsaber Academy will let you train with up to five Masters in the force either Sith or Jedi via an app connected lightsaber.

At a glance, the lightsaber looks like any other toy replica. It"s made of a fairly weighty plastic, lights up different colors and offers a few sound effects when you"re play fighting. But what sets this saber apart is its Smart Hilt. Outfitted with Bluetooth and a motion sensor, the toy can connect to the free app Android, iOS and begin the path from Padawan to Master.

A close look at a Star Wars lightsaber from Hasbros Star Wars Lightsaber Academy.

From what I could see at my Toy Fair 2019 demo, connecting the lightsaber to the app is fairly easy, after launching the app, it will enter pairing mode. From there, you press the corresponding button on the saber and you"re ready to go. Once paired, you twist the hilt upward to reveal its kyber crystal. Using a simple press, you can choose your preferred master.

For the demo, Rey, Darth Vader and Yoda were available, but I wouldn"t be surprised if Luke Skywalker or Darth Sidious rounded out the five Masters. After you select your Master, the crystal and saber will glow the character"s corresponding color so blue for Rey, red for Vader and green for Yoda. From there, you"ll go through a series of exercises teaching you how to correctly wield the weapon, earning more points for correct posture.

Hasbros Star Wars Lightsaber Academy lets you train as a Jedi or Sith with a linked app.

While I"m sure this app puts the "fun" in fundamentals, there"s only one reason anyone should train to be a Jedi or Sith in first place I mean besides the pursuit of peace or power it"s to fight your friends in epic lightsaber battles. And you can absolutely do that, provided your friend also has an Academy lightsaber. In two player mode, you"ll engage in duels, scoring points for successful hits while whittling down your opponent"s health. Score the K.O. and you can perform a Force Finisher and win the round.

The Academy lightsaber will run on several AA batteries, but Mattel declined to give estimated battery line. Guess we"ll have to wait until to wait until we get them in the office and test them with hours of heavy hitting duels to find out.

What Is A Wormhole And Are They Actually Real? - Duration: 6:26.

all right what's up everybody welcome back to another video and in this video

I'm going to be talking about wormholes and specifically the science behind

wormholes and if they exist and some things like that and also real quickly

I'd like to say I'm going to be doing blender tutorials soon and I will be

covering some more things about blender soon but I am currently trying to get

the foundation started for some of my other types of videos so this includes

that foundation I don't know what I'm gonna like name this series or anything

like that maybe I'll call it science commentary I guess science maybe I'll

call science videos and have that as a playlist um but so wormholes let's let's

get into the topic of wormholes okay so wormholes are a very complicated

subject so let's start with I guess one of the things that people don't

necessarily get about wormholes so they can exist we have not found one so from

what I can tell many people have misinterpreted things that Stephen

Hawking has said about wormholes existing - that they actually exist

which there's no evidence to prove that they exist although they can exist

within the current equations that describe how we know about the universe

and how it works I can't fit in those equations and those equations sort of

describe a wormhole another thing is that a wormhole as far as we know would

be a one-way ticket it would not you would not be able to come back through a

wormhole it would just be a one-way ticket because um so there's nothing

that actually in the equations that actually talks about a specific wormhole

being its own thing the only way that wormhole could

according to the equations that we have is that a black hole onto the black hole

on one side and then a light white hole on the other side now a white hole

basically it just gets rid of everything that's in a black hole this puts out

into another area and space and this really means that it's a one-way ticket

now this is not necessarily fact because it's technically all theory but that's

how we know it would work so far and that's how it fits into equations of how

the universe works so yeah so that sort of works now many people seem to think

that wormholes are not scientific and have no scientific basis now there's

sort of two groups of people people that think wormholes are all scientific they

definitely exist and they couldn't possibly not exist and then there's a

group that things sell wormholes are total science fiction and there's no

science backing up the possibility of wormholes now there is science backing

it up now the general theory of wormholes is that space bins and people

usually describe this as a 2d paper bending and like something just going

through it to the other side and this is possibly a way to traverse long

distances in space now that that is actually the scientifically approved I

would say version of it the one that perfectly fits in with everything oh

yeah they they can't possibly exist like I said but to those people who think

that there is no scientific basis on this you're wrong there absolutely is

and it is there's a pretty strong site pretty strong scientific evidence that

they could exist and that they can exist although we haven't seen one and we

don't know how to make one if there aren't any so yeah there's that too all

right so now a couple of reasons why you probably will and never go through a

wormhole so the first reason is we haven't found one yet and we don't even

know if they actually exist they could exist we could possibly make one but

that is also really far off everybody alive will almost certainly be dead by

the time we end up making one if we end up making one and also by the time we

find one if we end up finding one and it could be possible that wormholes don't

exist and that the equations are wrong and also another reason why you most

likely will never go into a wormhole is that they do not last long according to

equations that are out there the universe will try to unbend as fast as

possible and it doesn't like being bent it does not want to be a wormhole

obviously um and you know I I don't think anyone will ever be able to go

into a hole ever because of this it from what I can tell it lasts a very short

period of time I couldn't find any thing that says exactly how long or

approximately how long it would be but there's also some theories out there on

how we could make it so it lasts longer which I which is interesting considering

we've don't we don't even know if one actually exists but yeah that's um

that's a pretty interesting thing about wormholes as well all right everybody I

think that's all for this video and if you liked the video hit that like button

if you disliked it you know what to do you can hit that dislike button if you

want but yeah that's all for this video and I'll see you all in the next video

Why is so difficult to predict the future? - Duration: 4:53.

Hello everyone, I am Riccardo Osti and on a daily basis I help the worlds best brands

become more profitable by investing in the consumer experience

In this video, I will tell you why today's predictive technologies are not as precise

as we may expect.

When talking to my clients I often get asked: "does your software have predictive capabilities?".

Then I go online and I see all kinds of tools selling "prediction" as you would sell

ham or cheese.

Imagine the data scientist asking you "I have cut two hundred extra grams of predictions….should

I leave it or I take it away?"

Mmm….no, I would say that this is for sure an interesting HOT topic, but there is still

a lot to do from an education standpoint...that's why I decided to put this short video together.

Please let me know if you like it in the comments, and I can make some more recordings on this

topic!

There are two basic kinds of predictions that people make: intuitive predictions, which

rely on experience and intuition, and statistical predictions, which instead rely on data and

algorithms.

Today we are talking about the second ones, which are obviously more interesting from

a business perspective.

The goal is to gain enough evidence, both from a qualitative and quantitative perspective,

in order to make decisions and drive investments in the near future.

What I am saying is that predictive technologies usually read and interpret past events trying

to understand how things will develop in the future.

There are three main factors that we need to consider to evaluate the reliability of

any prediction:

Number one, the quantity of historical data Number two, quality of historical data and

Number three, the influence of external events

Quantity is key.

Most of the predictive technologies are based on statistics and are nothing more than advanced

regression analysis.

This implies that if you have more data you have a more solid backbone to start with.

In some categories, it is easier to collect a large amount of data: you can think of weather

forecasts for example.

In some other categories, such as text analysis, the availability of the data is much more

limited

Quality is also key.

The reliability and the accuracy of the dataset that we use to start the prediction is just

too important.

Let me give you an example.

Let's say that you are a product owner at Samsung and your goal is to improve your products

to make sure customers like them better and sell more.

You may use text analysis to understand what customers dislike and identify the problems

of these products.

You could then try to predict how much the satisfaction would increase if you could solve

one of those problems.

In this case, in order to make a realistic prediction, you should be able to start with

a dataset that has been correctly analyzed.

External events are the deal breaker.

The biggest barrier to generate an accurate prediction comes from the outside.

In fact, all the events that are not directly influenced or controlled by us are much more

difficult to predict.

We have made the example of the product owner, who tries to predict how much he could increase

customer satisfaction by improving one element of its product.

What would happen if a competitor launches a product with better perfomances at a lower

price point?

Well, most probably the prediction would be completely invalidated.

And the problem is that predicting these type of external events is extremely difficult,

but common at the same time.

So… what's the secret recipe for good prediction?

Use a lot of historical data, make sure the quality of the analyzed data is high, and

most importantly….keep in mind that external events are hard to predict but extremely dangerous

I hope you liked this video.

James Bond 25 to get re-write after news release date is pushed back two months - Duration: 2:30.

It's only been a day since the news Bond 25 has been pushed back two months was announced

The film was set for a Valentine's Day release in 2020, but now it's set for Easter, April 8, 2020

Now there's another upset - a new screenwriter has been reportedly hired to work on the script for Daniel Craig 's final Bond outing

According to The Playlist , Eon Productions has got Scott Z. Burns on board to rewrite the script originally penned by Bond stalwarts Neal Purvis and Robert Wade

The report says Burns won't be just tinkering with the script, but instead a big script overhaul has begun

The Playlist dubs Burns "one of the top emergency rescue script doctors in Hollywood"

" If your script is hemorrhaging, he's one of the first people you call," it reports

He worked on Ocean's 12, The Bourne Supremacy and Widows as well as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Burns had been working on The Report, and apparently had already been asked to work on Bond 25, but was kept busy with the other film

Now The Report is done Burns is free to help out. The news is yet another hiccup for the next Bond movie, with director Danny Boyle leaving earlier in the process

He was replaced by Cary Fukunaga. Bond may be on rocky ground at the moment, but the new Easter box office opening may work in its favour

The franchise also always manages to draw in audiences, and with it being Craig's last Bond film there's the extra interest

Skyfall became the top grossing film in the franchise taking in $1.1 bullion worldwide

Spectre in 2015 earned $880 million. Bond 25 is due for release in cinemas on April 8, 2019
