Family Budget: Budgeting For Self Care and Budgeting For Fun - Duration: 8:50.
today we are talking the family budget and why budgeting for self-care and fun
is so important and why you should be doing it too. I am even gonna talk about
the splurges in our budget or what we consider to be splurges and if you have
followed us for a hot second ya know we have splurges... a lot of them. But not
really. Or a lot of people think we have a lot of them. We are all about
maintaining the happy positive outlook that we always have here in the Valencia
household to get through this debt free journey.
Okay, Mauricio will probably tell you I don't always have a positive happy
outlook... but I do on the inside... deep deep deep down
hey guys it's Wendy Valencia. Amy over a GoWithLess invited me to participate in
this collab and I am super excited to talk about all of the things we splurge on
and why fun and self-care are so important to have in your budget while
you're going through a debt free process. So if you want to check out amy's
channel and all the other participants down in the description box I'll link
them down below go click tell them I said hey and tell
them I sent you. So here's my take in fun and self-care while you're going through
the debt free cross us it is 100 percent okay as long as it's a reasonable amount
and as long as it's budgeted every time I am totally okay with having these
things in the budget if you plan for them especially if your journey is a
long one because you know what it's okay not to color your hair for like six
months if you're one of those people that need your hair colored or getting
your nails done or whatever your little thing is for six months nine months even
a year but when you're debt-free process is three years four years five years
taking absolutely everything out of the budget is too long too hard so as long
as you're planning for them and they aren't sucking a huge amount of money
away from your debt payoff there is nothing wrong with doing and if
you're one of those people that likes to do spontaneous fun I am totally cool
with like a fun budget line item that just says fun and a hundred dollars or
fifty dollars and it's just there so when you decide to do something
spontaneous you just go do it you don't have to worry about where the money's
coming from again it's totally okay as long as they're in your budget and
you're planning for them because a budget is meant to free you it is meant
to help you achieve your goals so set your priorities now if getting your hair
done under your nails done or having an audible subscription is not a priority
for you by all means take it out but if that
something that matters to you it's okay to keep it in I mean in our household we
always have $200 of what we call blow money which is money that's 100 and I
get a hundred and we can do anything we want with it during the month and then
we also have $100 a family fund money and I don't consider a blow money or
family fund money actually splurges I consider them necessities because we're
gonna spend the money so we might as well plan for it but our splurges are
splurges so let me go ahead and talk about some of those Christmas Christmas
is a splurge and Christmas is a splurge that freaks a lot of y'all out because
our Christmas budget is high and we know it's high but we like it that way and we
want it that way that's that's who makes us who we are so we plan for it we plan
for a whole year for Christmas we are putting away $300 every month so we can
have our amazing Christmas like we do every year and we're excited about it
and Christmas just is one of those things that we are always gonna splurge
on we like to give big gifts and we like the ability to give their gifts and the
years that we restricted ourselves it was not good for Mauricio and I in
morale I guess is the only way to say it it just it didn't do great things for us
so we have decided to keep that and if you want to see our Christmas budget I
did a whole video where I go over line by line every little thing we have in
our Christmas budget and I will link that down in the description box and up
in the eye in the sky and you can check that out
another splurge that I personally have in the budget is audible yes I know I
can rent books from the library and I have rented books from the library and I
do rent books from the library however I am a participant in a book club and we
always read like current books that have just come out and it is too hard for me
to get those books out of the library in time for book club and so I every single
time have bought the book on audible so I just went ahead
got an audible subscription for that another splurge I have is good makeup I
tried at the beginning of this whole debt free process to use drugstore
makeup it isn't good someday I swear I'm going to do a comparison video of like
drugstore makeup to regular makeup and I'll do like a half a face y'all can see
the difference especially over time because in 15 minutes drugstore makeup
is gone I have had no luck and I tried several brands so I just went back to my
regular makeup that I love that lasts for hours and I'm good with it
another big splurge we have in our budget is home chef so I pay like 119
dollars a week for home chef's to have meals delivered to my house for the
family of five and we love it it has made our lives so much easier
my dad can actually cook the meals because they're so easy to follow or I
can come home and cook them Molina has helped me even cooking them they're just
really easy to follow and they're good so that is a huge splurge for us and I
absolutely love it I as soon as we are back to our normal
budget home chef will be coming back because it just takes all of the stress
out of meal prepping it just makes my life so much easier and it is so worth
it to me there splurge we have in our budget is Spanish classes for our
daughter now you guys I know a lot of you think this isn't over the top
splurge I actually consider this almost a necessity because again as I've
explained a million times Melina refused to speak Spanish from ages four to six
no matter what we did she refused to speak to us we have finally found a
teacher that she will work with and will speak Spanish and she's speaking in full
sentences and we are never going back because Melina has to legitimately be
able to speak to her grandparents their Colombian they don't speak English and I
don't expect them to learn to speak English I am a fluent Spanish speaker
Marie she is a fluent Spanish speaker we do try and speak Spanish to Lina she's
getting better about responding and she's gay
more and more proud of speaking Spanish but it's it's taken a long time to get
her there so this Spanish teacher although very expensive is worth every
cent and if you saw our budget recap from January Mauricio's fantasy football
is an annual luxury I don't begrudge him that he doesn't really spend that much
on himself most of the time sometimes but not most that time so he loves
fantasy football and even though he sucks mammoths Lee at it yes Mauricio I
know you're watching and you suck at fantasy football you lose every year
it's okay I'm okay with paying it and then probably what I would consider the
biggest actual splurge is every once in a while I go out to dinner with my
girlfriends and it is so rare like every like four or five months I'll do this
but I really enjoy going it's a lot of fun so we do have some surges in the
budget but to me they are totally worth it and if you add up the percentages of
our splurges it's like less than 1% maybe 2 percent of our annual budget so
I'm totally cool with it so I'll see you in the next one
see ya route

FlavourArt Yogurt – Review & Recipe Base (A nice accent for creams) - Duration: 4:38.
Welcome back to a new flavor review.
I'm John and Today we are going back to cream and milky flavors and what's better than
a nice yogurt to review.
So this is Flavourart yogurt – the new formula.
I say new because this flavor used to be different and after the reformulation, they had new
and regular yogurt flavors available but I believe now you can only find the new version
so they possibly stopped calling it new since there is only one yogurt now.
If you tried the old one, this yogurt flavor is much milder, less tangy or sour and slightly
more sweet.
That is when it is compared at the same ratios with the old flavourart yogurt.
Compared to something more familiar like tfas greek yogurt I would say the flavourart one
tastes slightly thinner as a flavor, it is a bit sweeter and also just slightly creamier.
But where the tfa Greek yogurt is better is that it could stand on its own as a yogurt
flavor, it wouldn't be perfect or the most authentic but it would work ok.
The flavourart yogurt on the other hand tastes much thinner similar to something you would
expect from a milk flavor.
So it is basically a slightly sour cream concentrate.
And where it shines it is when it is used as a booster or a pair to other creams and
yogurts.
This role would be the perfect place to use this concentrate and what I would mainly recommend
doing, even just pairing it with a vanilla custard would introduce a nice side flavor.
Now I will move next to the ratios of use.
If you want to try it solo I would recommend trying the mild version first since it can
get a little too strong at 5%.
But if you want to make eliquids with it here are those ratios.
If you want to use yogurt as a primary flavor it works great at 2 to 3%.
If you want to use it as an accent together with another cream then a lower 0.5 to 1%
ratio will work better and only introduce a faint yogurt aftertaste.
Now next instead of a full recipe this time I made a suggestion recipe of a nice yogurt
base with some optional fruits on the side but again this is mainly the yogurt base of
an eliquid rather than a finalized recipe.
So here it is, there is other than the yogurt, meringue also from flavourart just at 1% mainly
for its light vanilla taste.
And then only 1% of tfa Greek yogurt.
At such a low ratio this flavor will mainly provide an additional richer yogurt taste
and complete the whole flavor filling in anywhere the flavourart yogurt is lacking.
So now this is the main base, but I wouldn't recommend adding more than maybe 2 or max
3 more flavors.
A fruit concentrate similar to the one I used here is a good idea, also if you want to add
some Bavarian cream or Vienna cream that will work well too.
But in any case start low and if anything make the changes one at a time.
And after that, here these are the steeping times for a recipe using this one or a similar
yogurt as its base.
The quick steep at 3 days is pretty much the minimum of this recipe with possibly 5 to
7 days being a good period to let it steep.
And of course if you add even more creams then 10 days should be unfortunately the least
you should wait.
Finishing Ill say that flavourarts yogurt is a good flavor if you know what to expect
from a yogurt concentrate.
It has a light amount of cream and milky aftertaste just enough to make it more authentic, and
if its used as an accent it works even better.
Now if you have this concentrate as always leave us your thoughts about it too.
Glad to see you here again this Sunday and Ill be back with something for you new next
week.

Dad Chops Off Daughter'S Hair As Punishment For Birthday Gift She Got From Mom - Duration: 3:13.
We all know that beauty comes from the inside.
But despite that, we all care about how we look.
After all, it is a great feeling to go all out and make an effort with our appearance
now and then.
One thing that most of us care a little extra about is our hair.
Which isn't so strange, considering that it's one of our most visible features.
That's why a bad haircut can cause even the most confident among us to hide away until
it gets fixed.
But does a bad or forced hair cut count as assault?
Probably.
In January, happy-go-lucky Kelsey turned 13.
The new teenager decided that she wanted to try a different look.
She decided that she wanted to get highlights, a request that her mom Christine Johnson agreed
to.
The mom took her daughter to the hairdressers as a birthday treat.
Afterwards, Christine took a photo of her smiling daughter, who was clearly very happy
with how her new style turned out.
But her happiness was short-lived.
Just days later, Kelsey went to stay with her father and stepmother – and the visit
would traumatize the young girl.
The photos her mom took after the visit are shocking and heartbreaking.
In the photos, Kelsey is too ashamed to even show her face.
But you don't need to see her face to understand what has happened.
Her long, beautiful, newly highlighted hair is gone, replaced by an extremely short and
uneven cut.
According to a Facebook post written by Kelsey's aunt, the girl's father and stepmother cut
Kelsey's long hair when they saw the new highlights.
Their reason?
"Actions have consequences."
For some inexplicable reason, they were very upset over the girl's new highlights, and
decided to give her a forced, extreme haircut.
But now the father and stepmother could face consequences of their own.
They both work as firefighters, but have been suspended without pay.
According to a Facebook post that Christine wrote, the reason for the extreme new hair
cut was to humiliate Kelsey.
The post has received many comments from people who are devastated on behalf of the young
girl.
Since the post has gone viral, social services in Wood County have even stepped in and are
conducting an investigation.
Hopefully Kelsey will receive justice and her father and stepmother will be punished
for their horrible actions.
I can't imagine how devastating this must be for Kelsey, who will be reminded of the
terrible assault every time she looks in the mirror.
Here's what Kelsey's mom wrote on Facebook:
This is what my daughter looked like Sunday when I took her home and the other two pics
is what happened today before she was brought to me... all over me having highlights put
in her hair for her birthday!
Share if you think these parents should be punished for the assault they committed against
Kelsey!

Slavoj Zizek —Jordan Peterson & 12 Rules for Life (Subtitled) - Duration: 2:47.
First, just to clarify this Jordan Peterson problem.
I am less and less interested in debating him.
Why?
Because when I wrote that text for the Independent, I knew only two parts of him: His conflicting
stance, especially in Canada in the beginning, towards all of this LGBT+ naming and so on.
And his attitude towards what he calls "cultural Marxism".
And my stance towards him as far as I knew that was not just fanatically against but
it was that when he criticises LGBT+, political correctness and so on he, nonetheless, identifies
some problems correctly but of course gives them the wrong terms and so on and so on.
Point two, just to conclude with Jordan Peterson.
So, he is part of this myth: cultural Marxism...
My position is here, as if LGBT+ and #MeToo are the ultimate Marxist conspiracy to ruin
the West!
My critique of #MeToo, I am very much on their side, just some of their problematic aspects
is again that, no, if anything, they are the last attempt of liberals to prevent a more
authentic radicalisation, political ones.
They are the last defence against the left.
But with Jordan Peterson, you know what's my problem?
I like to debate with neo-fascists, terrify them.
But sorry, [Carl] Jung is too much for me.
When I just opened — I cannot buy it for moral reasons — but in a book store I opened
for a little bit this "12 Rules for Life".
Fascism is okay, racism is okay, but, my God, all those wise advises, like "When you see
a dog, caress him" or whatever, all of that.
That's too much for me.
My point is, nonetheless, think about his exploding popularity.
You know.
Avoid this liberal smugness and satisfaction "Oh, that idiot" and so on.
Why did he explode so much?
Where did we all of our political correctness and so on and so on, where did we fail?
Where did we fail?

Paul Mariner Claims Roberto Firmino Would Be the Perfect Replacement for Luis Suarez at Barcelona - Duration: 2:34.
ESPN FC pundit Paul Mariner believes that Liverpool's Roberto Firmino would be the ideal replacement for Luis Suarez at Barcelona
Firmino has become a crucial element to Klopp's side and lays the carpet perfectly for players like Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah to shine
The Liverpool striker is not afraid of paving the way for others to be in the spotlight rather than himself which is perhaps what makes him so admirable
Suarez, who joined the Catalan giants from the Reds in 2014, has been hugely successful in Spain scoring an impressive 168 goals from 230 appearances for La Blaugrana in all competitions
This season he's managed to rack up 15 goals in 22 appearances, despite many people believing his ability is decreasing with age
With Suarez turning 32 this January, there have been countless reports stating Barcelona are on the lookout for a potential replacement for the Uruguay international
Mariner believes the La Liga front-runners need look no further than Firmino. The Daily Star quoted the pundit, saying: "I know that I will upset all of the Liverpool fans, but just look at what he does
Just look at some of his link up play and I think that would be perfect for Barcelona
Roberto Firmino at Barcelona would be a great fit, says this man #LFC #FCBhttps://t
co/piqx0gsgSQ— Daily Star Sport (@DailyStar_Sport) February 17, 2019 "I know Coutinho hasn't done it at Barca but Firmino is a different player
Firmino does it all for me. He is tremendous." Barcelona were rumoured to have been interested in the Brazilian last October as they too thought he would complement Lionel Messi perfectly
However, Liverpool's number nine recently signed a long-term contract with the club so any transfer would likely cost the Spanish champions a massive transfer figure

Update | Hes made crosses for more than 25,000 victims since Columbine. The five he just made were t
He knew something was wrong when dozens of law enforcement vehicles, sirens screaming, rocketed by his Aurora, Illinois, house on Friday afternoon. About 15 minutes later, Zanis daughter called saying there was an active shooter.
Police say , opened fire at Henry Pratt Co., killing .
"I guess I never thought it could possibly happen here," Zanis says solemnly.
Most Americans probably dont know his name, but many have has seen Greg Zanis work — painted crosses with victims name enscribed on them — erected after a national tragedy.
Each one takes about an hour to make.
"My simple message is just that heart on the cross," he says. "Love your brother, love your neighbor. Dont judge them. Life isnt that complicated. Hate and revenge is."
Hes made crosses for nearly every national tragedy since Columbine
One year and one day before the shooting in Aurora, Zanis quietly constructed and installed 17 crosses at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
When there is tragedy Zanis slips in, often unnoticed to many, to help Americans make sense of the whats happened.
He cant do that here. Everyone in Aurora knows him and his work.
The Boston Bombing. The Church of Life shooting. The Sikh temple shooting. Thousand Oaks shooting. Las Vegas shooting. Southerland Springs, Texas, shooting.
In the aftermath, Zanis is there.
Last year, he also drove crosses to Paradise, California, for the wildfire victims and met with 50 families. On the drive back, after his work was done, he had two days to unwind and calm down.
"There is no peace to have that drive," he says of the Aurora shooting. "I can walk over there."
The toughest crosses hes made yet
Friday night, hours after the shooting, he was already meeting with families who were asking him to make crosses for their loved ones.
They just sat there and stared at each other.
"They wanted me to go and put the memorials up," he says. And Zanis did, installing the crosses, their names not yet written on them.
Zanis was at the press conference on Saturday when the victims names were announced:
Clayton Parks of Elgin, Illinois, a human resources manager; Trevor Wehner of Sheridan, Illinois, a human resources intern and a student at Northern Illinois University; Russell Beyer of Yorkville, Illinois, a mold operator; Vicente Juarez of Oswego, Illinois, a stock room attendant and fork lift operator; and Josh Pinkard of Oswego, Illinois, a plant manager.
As soon as Zanis got the names he left the press conference, crafting the hearts, enscribing the names onto them and placing them on the crosses already at the vigil site.
"Theyre the toughest that Ive ever made," he says.
Working through the night on the crosses, Zanis says he still hasnt slept and doesnt think he will for another 24 hours. The crosses are up but his work isnt done.
More work needs to be done, and hes busy organizing vigils for the families and organizing a march to thank the police officers wounded in the shooting.
