- [Taren] Morning trainiacs, it is a very big exciting day.
And you're falling hang on.
Today is the first day of my favorite thing ever.
Morning group ride.
Road bikes with four sprint sections,
hammering the entire time.
Followed by, I'm gunna do a brick work out,
cuz I'm a triathlete
and super annoying to all the road riders.
And then, we'll go for coffee.
But, there's a bigger thing about today.
Hold onto your butts.
(♪Upbeat techno music♪)
(door opens)
(clatter)
Oh, hell yes.
Oh man.
If you've been around for a while,
like more than six or eight months,
go forward to this point in the video
for a super big announcement.
But if you haven't, here's a little story about why
that Tuesday/Thursday group ride
is my favorite part of triathlon.
So get use to seeing that morning group ride.
It happens every Tuesday and Thursday morning.
(jacket zipping)
And we get up to thirty road riders.
There are four sprint sections in it,
and I might not be the fastest but I do okay.
And three years ago, when I really wasn't
fulfilled with my job and I was trying to figure out
like what I was gunna do.
I started thinking. You know what?
I should create a YouTube channel, hi Pete,
just to learn how to do something
other than being a financial advisor.
And I was thinking...
What was I gunna make a YouTube channel about?
And I thought. When am I happiest in life?
And it was in these morning group rides.
When I was out with friends, having coffee after,
pushing myself to the absolute limit on those sprints.
And because of that I created
the channel that is now Triathlon Taren.
And I never woulda thought that I woulda become anything
more than just me, prancing around in a Speedo, on YouTube.
Which is basically exactly what I do.
But, starting today, we're launching a bunch of things
for a coaching platform so right after breakfast
I'm gunna tell you about that. This is big.
This is... this is exciting.
Very serendipitous that it happens
on the first group ride of the year.
(rubs hands together) Let's do it.
Okay trainiacs, so here's the big announcement of today.
I've been talking lately about announcing
a couching platform. A Triathlon Taren Trainiac
coaching platform and today I am so pumped to announce
the first aspect, now this isn't everything,
but this is just one part of that coaching platform.
And I've mentioned it a couple of times
to a few people in comments here and there while I was at
the Purple Patch Training Camp when people said
"Hey, you know, when are we going to see a
Triathlon Taren Training Camp?"
Well, here it is. I'm very pumped to announce
that we are holding two Triathlon Taren Training Camps
from May 24th to 27th and June 7th to June 10th.
And I'll give you the general flavor
of this overall coaching platform
and the context of what we're doing in these camps.
Camps, coaching platforms, one on one training,
books out there, in my opinion they are
so heavily based on the elite triathlete.
People that are already into triathlon,
knowing exactly what they want out of the sport,
and kinda how to do it and just need a little bit
of fine tuning. What is lacking,
and that I try to help out with is the beginner triathletes.
The triathletes in their first few years of triathlon,
maybe their fifth, sixth, seventh year
but still not sure how to piece this all together.
That's why we've designed these training camps
specifically for those new triathletes.
And as opposed to just going and taking you out on the roads
and smashing you day after day in beautiful warm weather.
Let's be honest here I'm bringing you to Winnipeg.
That is certainly not the case.
This is going to be much more a learning by doing.
Now of course there is gunna be training.
We're gunna have about three runs
over the course of those four days.
We're gunna have two swims.
One in the pool where I do a video analysis of you,
and one out in open water.
We're gunna have bike sessions
talking about how to do transition.
We're gunna have a long bike
talking about bike strategy and pacing.
We're gunna talk about nutrition.
I'm bringing in Olympic coaches,
people who have coached triathlon Olympians,
to do a bunch of testing to get you your zones.
We're gunna talk about strength training,
and you of course, are gunna get to hang out
for a few days in the pain cave here
going through all of this with me, and Mel,
and Gracie, and Pete, and of course NTK.
I have included in the camp fee all of your accommodations
and all of your travel once you get here to Winnipeg
and all of the testing that we're gunna do.
All of the time with the bikes, some nutrition products.
We've even worked out a deal to get you your own
personal kit while you're here.
So while on the surface you might look
and be like "Ooo that coaching camp is kind of expensive.
There are $500 coaching camps out there."
The amount of things that we have included
is what I think a new triathlete,
needing to piece everything together, needs out of a camp.
You're gunna leave this camp knowing exactly how to go home
and structure your year, structure your races,
structure your nutrition. Before a workout, before a race,
during a workout or a race, the recovery aspect of it.
If you're looking to loose a little bit of weight,
we're going to cover all of that.
I am going to be spending a total of four full days.
The night before, getting you settled in the camp house.
The day after, you can even stay there if you need
to pick up a flight the next day.
Accommodations are still covered for you that last night,
the Sunday night of the camp. And here's the best thing.
We're only opening up each camp to just four trainiacs.
This isn't the type of camp that you go to and there's like
40 or 50 people and there's one coach
and really all you're given is a workout
and just told to do the workout.
No this is like one on four,
and beyond that I'm also bringing in three other coaches
to help with certain aspects of the sport.
So when I say immersive this is like four days,
top to bottom of let's get together, have some fun.
Do a little bit of training. Learn a ton, get you set up
with your training program, your race strategy.
Everything that you need so you can go home
and be a better triathlete.
Because what I learned, at the Purple Patch Camp,
while I was there. Let's be honest I got a lot of
good ideas there. Is that one camp,
and just a bunch of training at that camp,
is not going to turn you into a good athlete.
The training has little to nothing to do with it.
But what does have a lot to do with it,
is making sure that at that camp you learn a lot.
And you become a better triathlete
by being able to go home and apply those techniques
to your training on your own.
So if you're a new triathlete,
or you're looking to take triathlon more seriously
and learn how to dial all of this stuff in.
Piece it together. This is the camp for you.
Like I say, there's only four spots in each.
We're going to close off registrations,
literally just about a week to ten days from now,
because we need to get in the order
for all of the kits in your sizes.
But to get a little bit more information,
or register go to Triathlontaren.com/camps
and you can see all of the information from the two camps.
And if you need any more information
email me at Taren@triathlontaren.com.
So there you go trainiacs that is just one announcement
of the overall coaching platform
that we are going to be rolling out
over the next little while. (Chains rattling)
Like I say Triathlontaren.com/camps
or if you've got any questions
email me at Taren@triathlontaren.com.
Just four spots. Get em while they're hot.
