Waching daily May 29 2018

Okay guys I have promised to keep it real with y'all

through this hike and last night was my worst night on the trail. It's raining

out it's chilly and the goal today is 16 miles.

Just, lesson learned.

[MUSIC]

I thought oh I've braved the sub-zero temperatures and wind chill factor's

in January and I can handle anything so I decided to go to ultralight here.

Went with a 50 degree quilt...um...did not pack my rain gear I thought well if it rains

you know, my zpack covering here would be enough yeah I just packed stupid light

and paid for during the night I was freezing on my lawn I didn't is herbal

night's sleep I needed the duplex for the space

I needed my sleeping bag it's keeping warm and I needed my clothes

lesson learned guys never sacrifice weight for comfort as you'll pay all

night long unlikely the next day - first night on the trail just because of me

and my attempts that woodling got my week too far I'm Gus back up here and

yeah I could soon after this is Dan with intrepid and I ran into these two folks

you'll find it the next morning or accused me of losing it and I'm through

great because it takes all the greed I got to do this okay how many times is

y'all been hiking in back backpacker before this we've never backed back

before we started a McCulloch falls through this 30 pound pack on her backs

and her pack is as heavy as mine and I'm proud of her she can just get off the

couch and get out here guys another couple Rascals born of the same blood

never hike never camped and started it out cold inside to say let's see what

happens so there they go okay guys we made it to the top of this

climb and buddy just pointed out hurts left I

don't know if you can see it through the trees there but we're actually above a

fog in the clouds right now you can see the peaks kind of poking their head up

through the clouds there if you look real close I don't know what our

elevation is right now but we're up here okay guys it looks like we have reached

a gap yep we are at sequoia gap so far we've come 3.1 miles for the day we are

rocking along

and this in case you're wondering those sirens are not for me I did not do

anything wrong okay guys so we're here it's the KOA gap we were gonna keep

pressing onto Fontana damn our mileage was off and there's no way on earth we

can make it there today frankly you know my mistakes which I should not be making

at this point by bringing the wrong gear and with the weather that you guys see

out here I'm trying to be smart would rather arrive alive we're going to call

it quits for the day we've got a shuttle coming in to get a spec to be in a seat

we'll get back out here in a day or two made lots of little rookie mistakes here

that's alright you got a shuttle coming gonna regroup

and we'll head back out tomorrow or the next actually not smart but they after

okay guys this is Dan with a Shepherd head as you can tell my voice is gone

they've been a little bit sick this last row for one day I'm sorry I sound like a

mouse y'all never learn anything my name is Sequoia gap where we got off

of the trail today is gonna be a long day

we're shooting for 16 miles which will be the longest day yet is officially 742

a.m. I just gotta figure what's the worth that much myself this is a good

thing I thought I came out over there I did I came out there that's that's where

I came out at least I'm not gonna be going the wrong way now they have these

handy-dandy signs for confused people like me name is that way and Georgia is

that way and I am ready to rock and roll oh my god I sound like a mouse okay here

we go

all right Apple I said throat North that's what we want were heading that

way yeah guys this has got to be Jacob's Ladder if you can see behind me it's

just going straight up so I'm almost 100% sure this is Jacob's

Ladder I'm climbing right now

unless there's something on the other side this hill that's gonna surprise me

when I get to the top which would be out of the question at all because there are

a lot of false tops

guys if my calculations are correct we are at the top of Jacob's Ladder it

looks like there's a gentle downslope right in front of me so there hopefully

will be a chance to getting breath or two here this is the ant fermenter up at

the end and I'm on top of Jacob's Ladder whoever the hell Jacob is but I think he

needs to build a new ladder here we go

he also may know this section is a different pack now I had started with

the Osprey hey Godsey packs Ark zip and now I'm using a pelant a pack you know

it's a balancing act between weights and comfort and price and all of those

things but we'll get into that later but just was like you know for now I am

using the pelant a pack and if I can make that work I'm gonna do it the rest

of the trip but I'm not gonna sacrifice safety and I'm not gonna sacrifice too

much comfort okay so I just came up this very very very narrow path and I am at

the absolute peak of this mountain check out that view right there

so guys right now I am it's two minutes in full ten o'clock and I have a

conference call up here the middle of nowhere a lot of you to have for my on

the trail office I'm getting real hop on this call and head on back down the

trail towards Fontana today them but taking a quick timeout for some business

here

Linda Sarsour is a Muslim American on a mission - Duration: 3:42.

I am a Palestinian Muslim American activist, born and raised in Brooklyn,

and every Islamophobe's worst nightmare.

I think when a lot of people see me, and I'm a Muslim woman, and I'm super progressive,

and they think that I'm some sort of anomaly.

They think that there's only one of me in the world.

But in fact, there are many millions of Muslim women who are just like me.

With respect to your your identity as a Palestinian, and your identity as a Muslim,

you face extreme criticism and hate.

It's really interesting in this country that we connect choice with clothing.

So you can choose to wear a miniskirt or a bathing suit at the beach, and then be seen as empowered,

but for some reason, when I choose to not wear a bathing suit, and wear a hijab, for some reason I'm not empowered.

We are not shattering stereotypes per se.

We are just being us, and being ourselves, and just existing in this world as Muslim women.

Malcolm X is a big inspiration in the way that I decide to speak truth to power, no matter the consequences.

And I always know that there's going to be consequences and backlash to the things that I say and do.

I reread The Autobiography of Malcolm X

and it brought me much more closer to my own religion.

My coming into the movement came after the tragic events of 9/11.

It was the first time that I, as a Palestinian Muslim American,

felt any type of specific direct oppression against myself or my communities,

and when I started realizing that it wasn't safe to be Muslim in America.

I wear these bracelets every single day.

And these bracelets are made out of shavings of olive trees in Palestine.

Olive trees are trees that live for thousands of years.

They remind me that I'm connected to an oppressed people

that have lived under the longest military occupation in human history.

"Social justice movements are not convenient."

"If your feminism doesn't include all women,

if it doesn't include the hijab that I wear on my head,

we don't need your feminism."

As someone who was part of the organizing of the largest single-day demonstration in US history, the Women's March,

that stage was full of people who are from marginalized communities.

And we wanted to set a precedent for the rest of the movement,

that you cannot have a movement that is not led, or centering, the voices of the most marginalized.

Because they have the most at stake.

And they know what needs to happen, because they will benefit from the change.

What your kids mean to you, I know that you had kids at a really early age,

and you're raising them now around the same neighborhood you grew up.

They are my everything.

They are brown Muslim children who are trying to figure out how to grow up in a country that doesn't love them,

that doesn't think they belong here, that doesn't believe the faith they follow belongs here.

They understand what I'm doing.

They support what I do.

And then I see them, and say to myself,

"Every day I work to make my country a country that loves you the way that I love you."

And I'm not here to see the fruits of my labor.

I'm here to do what I can, and give it on to another generation.

For younger women, or young people of any type that are watching,

what is your advice to them to help them achieve what they're setting out to do?

The most important thing for me is just, be unapologetically you every single day.

Don't ever let anyone make you feel less than you are.

And when you feel whole and you feel proud of every piece of your identity, whether you think it's complex or not,

doors just open for you.

So love yourself. And just be unapologetic.

Man United fans think Memphis Depay is proving Jose Mourinho wrong | Transfer News Now #mufc - Duration: 2:18.

Manchester United fans think Memphis Depay has proved Jose Mourinho wrong with his impressive

performances this season.

Depay stole the show for Lyon as he netted an impressive hat-trick to secure Champions

League qualification with a 3-2 win over Nice.

The 24-year-old finished the Ligue 1 season with 19 goals and 13 assists which saw him

become Lyon's top scorer, and assist provider in the league this year.

His recent form is quite the contrast with his time in England, having ended his Old

Trafford spell with just two Premier League goals.

Depay, signed by Louis van Gaal in 2015, made just one start under Mourinho before he joined

Lyon last January in a move which has rejuvenated his stagnant career.

And while some supporters are happy to see him proving the Portuguese wrong, others are

wondering if he should be given another opportunity to impress at

Old Trafford.

Who is Dani Dyer? Love Island 2018 contestant and EastEnders Danny Dyer's daughter - Duration: 4:30.

Who is Dani Dyer? Love Island 2018 contestant and EastEnders Danny Dyer's daughter

Dani Dyer will enter the Love Island 2018 villa when the show returns next month.

EastEnders' Danny Dyer's daughter is no stranger to reality TV, who already appeared in Survival of the Fittest.

However, she was forced to withdraw after only one day because she dislocated her shoulder falling down a waterslide.

Dani, 22, is one of the three daughters of the EastEnders actor.

The girl from Newham, born on August 8, 1996, has previously worked at The Owl pub in Loughton, Essex.

"Personality wise I'm not a person who looks out for drama, I just want to have fun" Dani Dyer She has also appeared in eight movies, including Age of Kill, opposite Martin Kemp, Doghouse and We Still Kill the Old Way.

When asked what her best attributes were, she said: "I'd say my long hair, and my eyes.

"Personality wise I'm not a person who looks out for drama, I just want to have fun.

I'd rather bring out the best in someone than the worst." Dani hasn't got many exes to speak of.

She said: "I've had two serious relationships.

"My last boyfriend would say I was loyal, as we were loving to each other.

I want my boyfriend to be my best friend as well.

"I've been single for two years.

I've never used a dating app, it's usually been with people I've met through friends." Dani's biggest worry about going into the villa is "the whole dating thing".

She elaborated: "Dating has never been great for me.

It's such a personal thing but you're doing it on national television.

Despite having a dad who plays Mick Carter in EastEnders, her biggest claim to fame was being babysat by Keira Knightly.

She explained: "Her partner at the time was in a film with my dad.

I had no idea who she was.

We went swimming together.

"It was only when I watched Bend It Like Beckham that I realised who she was.".

Danny is reportedly not pleased about his daughter going on Britain's much-loved reality show.

A source told The Sun: "Danny wasn't happy about her signing up to do Love Island because he doesn't want her to have sex on-screen.

"He thinks it could damage her reputation in years to come.

No father wants to see their daughter romping on national TV." Love Island returns on Monday, June 4 at 9pm on ITV2.
