061 My Kingdom for an Ice Cream. Heading south from Leicester on our Narrowboat. - Duration: 14:34.We've had a couple of nights here at Friars Mill visitor moorings.
Pretty good! They've got electric hook up, not that we've used it. And water points.
But now we're going to hop down to the Castle Gardens moorings, hopefully, it there is still a space.
we're on a floating platform. It wobbles a bit. George keeps dropping his ball.
It tries to go into the water. George goes into water. Bad!
So, we've just moved up, one mooring, to Castle Gardens visitor moorings.
Liecester. Walking that way! We're gonna explore! Yes!
Yesterday we moved down from Friars Mill to Castle Gardens
And then we went off exploring in Leicester and we visited...
Urm... The Cathedral. The Market. And the Jain Temple
Yep,and then we walked up, quite a long ways to the Golden Mile which is a
Indian community. Yeah, lots of jewellery shops and sari shops and food shops.
Got some delicious, amazing food. Really, really good food.
A Mysore dosa and a malai kofta. Yeah that was delicious. And then we met up with a friend.
And had a bit of a drive around. went up to see the Hindu temple.
Basically just a little bit of touristing, yesterday.
And how do we feel about Leicester? Because I really like it. Yeah. I like Leicester a lot. I had low expectations,
but... I'm pleasantly surprised. It's another place where people said... don't bother going there, your boat wont be safe there.
But there's two separate secure moorings. And honestly, even the
less secure moorings would be fine, like we, you know... It was Saturday night last night,
and there was a bit of noise but not really anything to worry about. Just a small about of noise.
The parks near by are quite nice for George...
And then this morning Michael went see the Richard III exhibition. How was that?
It was really cool. There was this whole section on the bottom that was all about the War of the Roses the Battle of Bosworth Field.
And it was very somber and dark and interesting, and lots to read and everything
and then, it was straight upstairs to, kind of a, modern telling of... trying to realign the public understanding of Richard III away
from Shakespeare, and the idea of him being a complete coward and jerk.
The had the site of where they found the body in the car park.
Yeah, that was kind of interesting, that the building actually extends over where the old car park was,
Which was originally the old Grey Friars Abbey.
And so you actually see... there's a little um... It's kind of a strange little room,
very somber, but it's got this glass floor that leads down into the actual chamber where the body was found
So do you think it was worth the nine pounds entrance fee?
Not exactly... Urm... It's a lot of money.
Yeah, I mean, there was a lot of stuff, that was arguably interesting,
but also, almost all of it is things that I've read somewhere else
I found that the, by donation entirely, Leicester Cathedral,
where his actual remains have been reinterred
and where he's got the modern grave, was in a lot of ways, more and poignant and over interesting.
So now we've been umming and ahhing all morning , trying to decide
whether we should stay here for the day, and just chill out, and get stuff done.
Should we say or should we go now! Or, should we cruise down, because we need to
be in Market Harborough on Thursday. So we've got three days to go... to do... 16 hours of cruising.
So yeah, quite a large number of locks.
So we eventually came to the conclusion, that we would see how far we got today.
And its like 1:30 or 1 o'clock now.
And usually by this time we're, thinking about ending our cruise,
whereas we haven't even started the engine yet. We're just getting going
And, we found a bundle of tiny little spiders, which we now need to carefully relocate off the boat.
I call evict, you call relocate.
Yeah, I shall now relocate a very large number of very small spiders.
Oh, and I'm off to Lidl, which is a couple of bridges that way, and
Michael's going to pick me up hopefully, if there is somewhere to stop. And get the dog inside first.
Although, the fact I'll have baked goods, will mean you'll definitely find somewhere to stop.
I'll find somewhere to stop. Its just a matter of whether or not there's room for you to get on.
I'll just be chucking them at you! Alright, lets go.
So I did the quick Lidl shop, and now we're at the first lock. I have no idea what its called actually.
Just waiting for it to empty, and Michael is just waiting to come in.
It's just a perfect day for cruising. And theres so many people about.
And they're all helping us on the locks and stuff. It's really nice.
Just got to Kings Lock and I'm just emptying it fo Michael.
And theres a little tea room in the lock keepers cottage
with a sign outside that says 'ice cream', so I think it's got to be done.
Finally arrived at Kings Lock, and one of the ground paddles was locked shut
and painted over. So it's not one we can actually open.
The other one doesn't seem to be attached, so when Jo opened it up all the way, it didn't move any water.
So we've gone to the door paddles, which means we're moving up very, very slowley
In fact I'm not sure we're moving up. But we might be,
That's what it looks like.
How's your ice cream? Tasty!
It's tiny and tasty! It's them salted caramel and vanilla. They didn't have enough salted caramel.
They didn't have enough ice cream, period!
So when we came out of the last lock, somebody was coming up right behind us.
So we just waited at Blue Bank Lock now they're coming up with us.
Half a mile to go to the next one.
It's always nice to go up with two boats. They're going up at least two more locks
So I figure, we may as well, at least do the two with them and then we'll
find a place to moor, or we'll keep going up to a place called Kilby Bridge,
which we've heard is pretty good, there's a nice pub there, and it sounds nice today.
So the other boat turned up really quickly, and they've got four crew.
So they're finishing off that lock with Michael, and I walked ahead to this lock
which is lock 36, and I'm just going to get it ready for everyone.
Just waiting for Jo open the last lock into, I think its called Glen Parva ,
it's like a small suburb of Leicester. And it's the last lock but our friends
at met us, coming up, are going to keep going through, they're going up to the
turning point and spinning around, so time to head on in.
And then we're on our own for the next ones.
So the other boat has stopped for the night and we're back on our own.
Just past a whole area where there is houses backing onto the canal
And a swear, every other house is having a barbecue in the garden.
It's about... I think its about 5:00 p.m. and it's still so hot
so...I think we're just going to keep going even though we're exhausted and hungry.
Do you know what time it is? No. Its seven. Oh, okay.
It's seven o'clock! This is the longest we've cruised since I can't remember when.
I don't know if we've ever cruised this long before. No, we have. Mainly, its just a hot day. Yeah.
Thats what's been causing me the problems, cuz I'm like, I still can't quite get rid of
this lurgy, yeah me too! And it's hot, like it's it's actually hot.
And you know what, coming out of Leicester was really nice, like I thought it was gonna be really urban for ages and ages.
No, it was quite nice. Yeah.
The book calls it one of the better city approaches in England.
And you know what else? What's that?
So it's bank holiday Sunday today, and there's lots of people on the towpath,
like so many people watching us go through, every lock. Yeah, gongoozlers.
There was no other boaters, apart from that one we met to do the three locks. Yeah. What's that all about?
It's a big public holiday, so it's a long weekend, and typically on long weekends,
lots of hire boaters are out, and lots of people go out and jump on
their boats. It seems like what everybody's done has jumped on their
boats and started a barbecue. I just think it's not in Leicester.
It is actually nice today it's just surprisingly hot, for May. Well it's going be this hot tomorrow.
Yeah. If not hotter. And tomorrow we'll be moving on!
Okay. Alright, we're done? Do we need to say anything else? I don't know... where are we?
We're just above bridge 33 but we've no idea where that is.
Not bridge, lock 33. Yeah.
We're, well we're near something called, I believe Wigston. Okay.
Yeah, so, we're sort of... basically we've got fields and horses and suburbs of Leicester.
We could have stopped earlier, and we should have stopped earlier, but I didn't really
want to stop opposite people's houses or outside their back gardens on this side.
So I kept making us carry on. And I was kind of pushing for a pub and some
possible chips, Yeah today would be a good day to find a mooring by a pub.
But unfortunately it's another three locks that way and we're done.
Alright. In? Yeah! Okay. Dog! On boat.
Biggest cruise of all time. Hand in way of camera. There we go.
What have we done? Wait. George is biting my foot. Ouch. George is painfully biting my foot.
Okay George, your allowed, there you go. He's going to drop it. Yes, I know he's going to drop it.
Quick! Okay!
I feel little spiders creeping all over me.
And urm... we... what else did we do? We... also... oh, I won't bother talking about that.
So now we've been like.... umming and ahhing.
Yeah. It's another place where people said... sorry, I keep talking over you.
Yeah, yeah, thats alright, Ive got no opinions.
So we've just got to Blue Banks, we've just got to Blue Banks.. I think its called Blue Blanks... Blue Banks Lock.
It's been a really hot day. Which... I feel like I've been lied to... like, I came to England for...
you know, mud and rain and the occasional sleet and snow.
But... you know..
I was told summer was two days long and its already been three. And its May.
what's going on here people? I don't know.
So just waiting for Jo to open the last lock into
I think it's called Glen Parva. Urm... It's a...
like a... what do you call it?
Its a ball. What do you do with a ball George? What do you do?
You try and catch it George. There. Now pick it up. No, You've given up... You're not even going to try and pick it up.
Is that frustrating George. You almost got it.
You totally almost got it George.
During the summer... Hit that wall.
Do you know what time it is? Hammer time?
I mean... on the Thames a couple of times... I know we... You're going out of shot, into shot... I mean I know we only started
It's a thing... apparently its a thing in England.
The sun comes out and everybody throws their shirt off. Well not everybody throws their shirt off.
All the men throw their shirt off and light barbecues.

3 Daily Habits to Reprogram Your Mind for Success - Duration: 5:11.Sunny Lenarduzzi: Hey boss, I know you're built to succeed, but do you?
I know in my own experience of running and growing a business that I have challenges
all the time, where I run into imposter syndrome or these little negative thoughts seep in
or I think that my business is going to die tomorrow and all of these things that are
not really logical thoughts but they naturally come up.
There is this little narrative or voice in the back of your head going, "Do you really
deserve this," a lot of the times and it's been something that have been actively trying
to figure out and overcome for myself and so I thought I would share a video you of
the three daily habits that I have to make sure that I'm always programmed for success,
for positivity and for really growing in that growth mindset that you need to have as an
entrepreneur.
These are things that have worked for me and they might just work for you.
Before we dive in, if you haven't subscribed yet, make sure you do for new videos on how
to be your own boss and build your own life.
Okay, so step number one is the 90 day letter.
It's basically like affirmations on steroids and it's one of the best things I've ever
done.
It came from a mentor of mine and it's such a brilliant idea for making your vision a
reality.
What you do is say, today I sit down and I write a letter, this letter is going to be
to myself as a version of myself that's 90 days from now.
Basically, it would be, "Dear Sunny, in your business, you're now doing "x" amount of revenue
per month," whatever my goal is for what I want to be at in three months.
You can talk about your relationships, exactly how you want them to look.
You can talk about opportunities that you want to achieve in the next three months and
you speak about them as if they're already true and as if they've already happened.
It's such a powerful exercise because it makes your vision and your thoughts and your goals
and your dreams a reality for you on a daily basis.
That's one of the first things that I read to myself every morning when I get out of
bed, so that I stay grounded in that vision and it keeps me motivated and on path for
what it is that I want to be achieving.
If you like that idea, let me know in the comments below.
Tip number two or the second daily habit that I have, that I practice every single day of
my life, is the abundance practice.
When you're an entrepreneur, it's a funny thing that happens because you're going to
say to yourself.
"When I hit six figures, everything's going to be perfect," or, "When I hit $1 million,
everything's going to be perfect."
But the reality is that with every new level that you hit, new level, new devil.
There's going to be things that come up for you, there's going to be mental hurdles for
you.
One of the biggest things that's most prevalent and that definitely had come up for me is
that you get into a bit of a scarcity mindset and you think, "Oh my gosh, I could lose this
all tomorrow."
I daily try to remind myself and stay in a place of abundance, meaning that there's always
more and that there's always more room for growth.
The next thing I do is I'm grateful.
Every single night, I write a gratitude journal.
Morning is what I'm proud of and at night time, I do a gratitude journal.
What a gratitude journal is, is basically it's just saying, "Today, I'm grateful for,"
and you start off with one or two things and I started doing this in one of the hardest
periods of my life.
It changed my whole mindset on what was going on because at the end of the day, to be able
to sit down and go, "I'm grateful for this, this, this and this," and it grows into this
list of 20 things, you realize that there's so much that you're grateful for in your life
and there's so much good and abundance in your life that all the other stuff that you're
focusing on really doesn't matter and it's really not a real thing.
Even if there is really hard stuff going on in your life, I've been there but you can
always end the day by realizing the there's a lot to be grateful for as well.
What I want you to do right now is comment below this video with one thing that you're
either proud of yourself for or you're grateful for today and see how it shifts you and shifts
your feeling about yourself and about your business.
I want you to tell me more about that if you feel a little shift.
The third thing is the solution strategy.
I would say that the biggest thing that differentiates successful people from people who are stuck
in their lives is figure out solutions versus problems.
I really do feel like entrepreneurs are professional problem solvers.
You have to be at this head space of how can I make this better.
Because I've been through this where there's something that comes up and if you watched
my last video, you know that shit hits the fan all the time as an entrepreneur.
But when I feel like something's coming up, the only thing that makes it worse is when
I dwell on that problem.
The thing that makes it better is when I take a step back and I go, "Okay, how is this actually
an opportunity for me?
How is there a solution to this that I can execute right now or that I can have someone
else execute for me?"
Really getting into the mindset of when a problem arises and not being paralyzed by
it, but instead looking for the solution and starting to move forward as opposed to moving
backwards or just getting stuck in the same spot.
When there are challenges, I just reframe it in my brain to find a solution.
These are three daily habits that I use to make sure that my brain space and my mental
clarity is in a place of abundance and a place of success and a place of positivity because
the reality is, when you're running a business and you have a lot on your plate, if you're
not in good head space, it's really hard to feel like you're going anywhere.
I hope this was helpful for you.
If there's one of these tactics or all three that you're going to use, let me know in the
comments section below.

Corporate Mercenaries In DAPL Case Look For Free Pass - Duration: 4:20.The private security company, TigerSwan, is seeking a settlement in North Dakota for violating
the rights of protesters, remember this story, at the Dakota Access Pipeline.
There were months of protesters by thousands.
The North Dakota Private Investigative Security Board has invited the company to offer a settlement
before discussing the issue with attorneys.
The board accuses the company of operating without a license.
TigerSwan denies the allegations and says its investigative work took place outside
of the state, and its headquarters are in North Carolina.
For more on this, we're joined tonight by the host of America's Lawyer, Mike Papantonio.
Mike, good to have you with us tonight.
What do you make of this story?
It seems like there's always a back story to fake protests as to who's trying to influence
crowds, and who, of course, is really not getting the spotlight, but very much in the
thick of things.
Legally, take this apart for us tonight.
Well, TigerSwan, first of all, their settlement offer here is very common.
They want to pay for some fines without having to admit that they did anything wrong.
Truth of the matter is, if you have the Department of Justice take a closer look at this, you'd
see they did a lot wrong.
Understand, this is a corporate mercenary operation, a corporate mercenary group, that
was hired by the government to engage in counter-terrorism with organizations like Hamas and ISIS.
Now, all of a sudden, they show up in something on American soil where there's a protest.
If they think they can settle it, that makes their problem go away, but it gives the company
the ability to say that they were never convicted, and that they never admitted to committing
any illegal activity.
That's the real issue here.
The push is to say, "Gee, we haven't done anything wrong.
We'll settle with you, but we don't want to admit we've done anything wrong."
The reason they're doing that is because they're worried about the fact that all of this information
that they gathered becomes useless in subsequent lawsuits that are going to flow from this.
Swan isn't a company that need to build consumer trust.
That's not why they're worried about disclosure.
They're a private investigation mercenary firm that does their work through government
contracts, so they don't have to worry about losing confidence in the consumers.
What the company's likely trying to do here is just protect information that they illegally
gathered, illegally gathered, because lawsuits are coming at them different ways.
Sure.
This company that hired them, they're on the hook too here.
It's not just TigerSwan.
The company that hired this Blackwater type organization, they're on the hook for a lot
of things that TigerSwan engaged in.
Well, what about the protesters?
What legal ramification or options do they have, because some of them were injured.
I mean, the videotape was pretty ominous.
The actions against the protesters, they were threatened, they were shoved, they were beaten.
I mean, doesn't this open up a door of liability?
That's the point.
That is exactly the point.
This is the equivalent of somebody who has no certification, no right, no special standing,
to show up at this protest and engage in battery, assault, in a whole variety of issues that
can make them criminally responsible, if we had a government that had any guts to do something
about this.
But the real issue that TigerSwan better worry about, and the real issue that the company
that hired them, that they need to worry about, is if this is taken away from them.
If they have to say, "Look, we didn't have the standing to do this.
We didn't have the kind of license we needed to do this," all of a sudden all of these
lawsuits become very significant because of the surveillance footage that they've taken
engaging in all types of assaults on these protesters.
Sure.
This could turn into a very big case, and truth is, the interesting thing about this,
take a look at the media's coverage on this.
It's almost non-existent.
Energy transfer partners have gotten a free ride on this, even though it's very clear
that they've gone out and they've hired this Blackwater type of government mercenary group
to engage in conduct where they had no license to do it there in front of these protesters.
Host of America's Lawyer here on RT America, Mike Papantonio.
Mike, thanks for your time tonight.
Appreciate it so much.

Yoon Shi Yoon is someone who kindly explains a lot to juniors.
But since I have some experience, he was very considerate of my acting.
He said, How do you want to express it? I did it this way, what do you think? He treated me as a co-worker and not as someone whos eight years younger..
The actress also spoke about the many kiss scenes in Grand Prince.
In a previous interview, Yoon Shi Yoon had conveyed his apologies to Jin Se Yeon for his poor kissing skills.
She commented, Usually in dramas, there are many instances where the male actor leads [the scene], so I thought that Id just follow along.
Our first kiss scene was when we werent close yet, so it was awkward.
It was awkward and embarrassing, and I remember that we made fun of each other while filming later because of that.
But Yoon Shi Yoon said hes usually like that and that he matches well with family dramas. She laughed as she added, I hope he doesnt feel sorry about it..

What Size Double Bass for Playing in Thumb Position? - Duration: 8:51.hi everybody welcome to another episode of ask Geoff and Lauren where we answer
your questions about playing the double bass now Lauren and myself both teach
lessons and courses over at discoverdoublebass.com so if you'd like
to learn more about this instrument please go there and check out all of the
videos and resources that we have for you but let's get straight into today's
question is from Sasha so she's asking Lauren ah I'm looking to play or to
buy my first bass somewhere in the future and I was wondering what
qualities to look for when shopping I'll play more solo music and I'm wondering
if a different body shape or string size will help me play higher up and more
comfortably in thumb position and does shoulder width contribute to being able
to get around better in the higher position so what do you think Lauren
that's well yeah I mean I definitely think um if you're gonna be playing in
the upper registers as opposed to you know an orchestral playing I think we
are rarely asked to get up into thumb position you know above the octave
harmonic and so it's still a little bit unwieldy to play you know a massive
Prescott or something if you're a smaller person but it's not as
unmanageable as when you're playing solo music which often has us playing way in
the higher registers so you know there's two different aspects that you can sort
of play with the size these the overall size of the instrument and also the
slope of the shoulders so if you can see my instrument back here it's got the
classic violin shape you know violin corner shape it's got the little violin
corners and then also at the top it's got the rounded shoulders and usually
that is a little bit more unwieldy in the upper registers but my bass is
really small it's actually the size of a half-size but you know that's why the
slope of the shoulders isn't too big of an issue it never gets in my way and
then the other aspect is the slope of the shoulder so your bass is not gamba
shoulders like completely really it's it's just sort of slightly
yes yes come it's that it looks more like the this loop looks a lot more
prominent from the front yeah from your videos but anyway you know so you can
find a lot of different examples you know where you can see the difference
it's really obvious the gamba shoulders are more sloped and in that way that
makes it a lot easier to get around you know because that's just the trick is
like just getting around this massive instrument and so when I was shopping
for instruments my bass that I had my first instrument was a gamba shoulder
instrument um and I still have it actually but it just was a little bit
too big I wanted something that sounded a little bit different and then also it
was a little bit more manageable and so you know I could make do with it but I
just I don't know it's kind of personal I guess is what I'm trying to get at you
know it it really just takes you trying a bunch of different instruments playing
the hardest thing you know playing like your bread and butter kind of stuff just
playing everything you can think of and sometimes you know like with this
instrument I never thought that um you know the non sloped shoulders would be
something that I would be able to get around or want for solo playing and then
it worked you know so my advice would just to be to try everything you know
and don't be closed-minded you know a lot of people are really averse to the
idea of using a smaller instrument but my bass projects incredibly well you
know upper and lower register and so you might be surprised just try everything
you possibly can think of I think that's absolutely the right thing because the
one kind of constant is that they're all different and the set up and sometimes
you'll just play an instrument that's completely you know the opposite of what
you would have thought absolutely great you know I'm always really interested in
likes shorter string lengths I mean my bass is pretty standard actually it's forty two
and a half inches but I played a bass recently had a move those forty three or
something was really big but it was so comfortable so well setup and it just I
thought much I wouldn't mind at all you playing this bass
is fantastic and right but yeah generally I prefer kind of you know
standard or slightly shorter you've got a shorter string length haven't you Lauren
on your bass yeah yeah do my bass is my string length is 38 and a half so
nice it's great it's so good and I mean everything is just right there like it's
it's great but you know the other thing to think about too is that um you know
if you're a smaller person you should just think about getting a bass that's
relative to your size or don't you know you whatever you want like you can you
can do whatever you want whatever feels most comfortable I've known people that
are smaller that have played an enormous instruments and they somehow make it
work and then you know there are some players like Max Dimoff is the teacher
at Cleveland and he's not a small person he plays a really small bass you know
and it just kind of depends on the person you know but for a smaller person
like me it was just sort of like well I'm just trying to get a bass that's
relative to my size and the number one comment I get from people that meet me
in person after seeing me online is oh you're a lot smaller than I thought
you know and that's I think because I'm just sitting next to my bass and it
looks normal you know so that's another thing to consider
people say the opposite to me because they say they say that they think that I
look really small on camera because my because of the perspective of the base
being so large I did actually think that you were a hobbit but I don't yeah I
know I know it was pretty well with that actually yeah it was do you remember
what you said to me actually when we met in person I have a horrible feeling in
my opinion I don't know but I thought you told me I see I see you across we
were meeting at a bar in Houston and I see like across the bar and we're like
you know like super excited to see each other and you start like yelling like
you're real you're real first yeah I get a bit I get a bit excited in bars you
know you should never marry yeah
yo anyway web-based basically a couple of things really quickly I like in terms
of the slope of the shoulders I agree that it doesn't always follow the cursor
way ones are more easy but sometimes they are sometimes they're not but the
thing that I I find it's useful is the over stand the distance from the
fingerboard away from the body and if you a lot of older basis particular like
German trade bases hundred your old instruments that kind of thing that tend
to be quite flat on the so which makes it uncomfortable to get your arm round
and you'll end up getting your forearm catching on the side of it so I like to
be able to just practice you know just hold onto the onto the string and just
play a longer or weapon down and see if you can it your arm keeps catching with
mine the over stands quite comfortable I think it's like yours long and it isn't
particularly cut away but it's actually well set up and the angles are all quite
nice mhm definitely string length I consider but you know my in practice I
haven't found it as much of an issue as I thought and I think this whole thing
about size is so fascinating because it doesn't seem to follow this or the set
rules but you know if you want to play smallness from it go for it you know you
can get big sounds out of smaller double basses it's nothing not that anyone's
allowed at all no absolutely and I was just gonna say that some of the big ones
you think you know when you play it you're just gonna hear this like the
floor shake and sometimes you know you can't get it they're actually kind
of quiet you know which is really weird but I don't I don't know enough about I
think the thickness no words sometimes you get really heavily built larger
instruments I'm thinking of a few five stings that I've played and they are so
heavy in the construction that they don't resonate well enough that's been
my experience with some instruments so you know definitely some of the loudest
basses a larger instruments sure but not all of them that's the key thing and
it's the yeah I'm really into kind of smaller instruments so let us know what
your mind but you know below joining in the comments and tell us what's worked
for you where'd you play solo playing or not I'm
particular what your experience of playing in some position is like they'll
be really interesting to hear more about it so yeah so I hope you've enjoyed that
everybody if you have a question leave it below we'll see you in the comments
and yeah catch you next time

Elise Guide for BEGINNERS (League of Legends) - Duration: 14:34.ALRIGHT CLASS
I'M GONNA BE OVERCOMING MY FEAR OF SPIDERS
TO TEACH YOU ABOUT ELISE
SO STAN PUT THAT PHONE AWAY AND PAY ATTENTION!
BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO REPEAT MYSELF!
ELISE IS A MAGE ASSASSIN JUNGLER THAT HAS
A RANGED HUMAN FORM AND A MELEE SPIDER FORM!
THAT'S RIGHT!
ELISE IS A TWO-IN-ONE BABY!
ELISE IS ACTUALLY REALLY STRONG AND REALLY FUN TO PLAY!
SHE HAS A RIDICULOUSLY STRONG EARLY GAME
AND SHE CAN DELETE PEOPLE SUPER FAST WITH VERY HIGH SINGLE TARGET DAMAGE!
BUT BEFORE WE GET TOO EXCITED
I MUST WARN YOU
ELISE IS REALLY HARD TO LEARN
YOU'RE GONNA HAVE A LOT OF BAD GAMES WITH HER BEFORE YOU START HAVING GOOD ONES
YOU NEED TO DEVELOP SPIDER-LIKE REFLEXES
IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO KEEP UP WITH EVERYTHING SHE'S GOT GOING ON!
SO IF YOU'RE SITTING IN CHAMPION SELECT RIGHT NOW
LOOKING UP AN ELISE GUIDE
HOPING TO LEARN HER BEFORE THE GAME STARTS
PREPARE TO BE FLAMED BY YOUR TEAM
BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT GONNA DO WELL!
BUT OF COURSE YOU ONLY HAVE TO DEAL WITH FLAMING TEAMMATES
UNTIL YOU GET GOOD WITH ELISE
BECAUSE ONCE YOU FINALLY GET GOOD
YOU'RE STILL GONNA GET FLAMED BY YOUR TEAM!
WELCOME TO LEAGUE OF LEGENDS!
SO WHAT MAKES ELISE SO HARD TO LEARN?
ELISE'S GREATEST ASSET
BESIDES HER LEGS
IS HER OVER-POWERED EARLY GAME
BUT HER STRENGTH IS ALSO HER WEAKNESS
BECAUSE SHE BECOMES WEAKER DURING THE LATE GAME
SO YOU REALLY GOTTA KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING TO SECURE THE LEAD FOR YOUR TEAM
IN THAT SMALL WINDOW OF TIME WHERE YOU'RE STRONGER THAN EVERYONE ELSE!
AND THAT'S NOT ALL!
ELISE HAS SIX DIFFERENT ABILITIES ACROSS TWO DIFFERENT FORMS!
AND SWITCHING BETWEEN HER FORMS SEAMLESSLY IS GOING TO REQUIRE A LOT OF PRACTICE!
GOD DAMMIT STAN!
I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY!
NOW WHERE WAS I?!
OH, RIGHT!
ELISE'S HUMAN FORM!
HUMAN ELISE IS A RANGED MAGE THAT DEALS RANGED DAMAGE
THIS FORM IS GREAT FOR HARASSING ENEMIES AND POKING THEM DOWN FROM A DISTANCE
ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S TOO DANGEROUS FOR YOU TO GET UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL!
YOU SHOULD START EVERY FIGHT IN HUMAN FORM TO MAXIMISE YOUR DAMAGE
YOUR MAIN GOAL AS HUMAN ELISE IS TO USE ALL OF YOUR ABILITIES
BEFORE SWITCHING TO SPIDER FORM!
THE FIRST ABILITY THAT HUMAN ELISE HAS AT HER DISPOSAL IS HER Q
ELISE SHOOTS POISON AT A TARGET
DEALING MORE DAMAGE THE MORE HEALTH THEY HAVE
MORE HEALTH EQUALS MORE DAMAGE!
YOU SHOULD
START EVERY FIGHT WITH THIS ABILITY
BECAUSE THAT'S WHEN YOUR TARGET WILL HAVE THE MOST HEALTH AND YOU'LL DEAL THE MOST DAMAGE
YOU ALSO DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MISSING THIS ABILITY
NEUROTOXIN IS 100% FOOL-PROOF!
IT'S NOT A SKILL-SHOT
SO YOU CAN'T MISS IT
YOU JUST HAVE TO BE IN RANGE AND YOU'RE GUARANTEED TO LAND THIS ABILITY
AND ONCE YOU GET THE Q OUT THE WAY
IT'S TIME FOR YOUR W
ELISE SENDS AN EXPLODING SPIDER TO A TARGET LOCATION
THAT BLOWS UP AFTER A BRIEF DURATION
THAT'S RIGHT!
ELISE SOLVES HER PROBLEMS WITH EXPLODING SPIDERS!
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH EASIER MY LIFE WOULD BE
IF I HAD EXPLODING SPIDERS TO DEAL WITH MY PROBLEMS?!
VIDEO TAKING FOREVER TO LOAD?!
EXPLODING SPIDER!
SOFTWARE UPDATE REQUIRE RESTARTING YOUR COMPUTER?!
EXPLODING SPIDER!
IPHONE KEEPS AUTO-CORRECTING THE WORD TO DUCKING?!
EXPLODING SPIDER!
ACTUALLY.....NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT IT
I REALLY DON'T SEE HOW EXPLODING SPIDERS WOULD SOLVE ANY OF THOSE PROBLEMS
BUT THEY ARE GREAT FOR POKING DOWN AND HARASSING ENEMIES FROM A DISTANCE
WHEN IT'S TOO DANGEROUS TO GET ANY CLOSER
THEY'RE ALSO GREAT FOR FACE-CHECKING BUSHES FOR YOU WHEN YOU HAVE NO VISION
AND YOUR SPIDEY SENSE IS TINGLING!
SERIOUSLY.....
LET THE EXPLODING SPIDERS FACE-CHECK THE BUSHES FOR YOU
DON'T BE THIS GUY!!!
WHAT A DUCKING IDIOT!
AM I RIGHT??
NOW IT'S TIME TO MOVE ON TO ELISE'S FINAL AND MOST DIFFICULT SKILL
YOU SHOOT A WEB IN THE TARGET DIRECTION
STUNNING THE FIRST ENEMY YOU HIT
PRETTY EASY, RIGHT?
WRONG!!!
IT'S A SKILL SHOT
AND THAT MEANS THAT YOU CAN SCREW IT UP
AND BELIEVE ME WHEN I TELL YOU
YOU ARE GONNA SCREW IT UP SOOO MANY TIMES!
THIS SKILL WILL BREAK YOUR HEART AND SHATTER YOUR SELF-ESTEEM OVER AND OVER AGAIN
YOU JUST SUCK!
ALRIGHT, THAT'S IT!
YOU JUST EARNED YOURSELF SOME DETENTION!
MINIONS ARE GONNA BE THE BANE OF YOUR EXISTENCE!
THEY'RE GONNA RUIN SOOO MANY GANKS FOR YOU!
SO MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO MINIONS BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR TARGET WHEN SHOOTING YOUR SPIDER WEB!
COCOON IS ALSO VERY EASILY DODGED!
PEOPLE TURN INTO ACROBATS WHEN THEY KNOW YOU'RE TRYING TO STUN THEM
TRY GETTING A LITTLE BIT CLOSER TO YOUR TARGET BEFORE USING THIS SKILL
TO GIVE THEM A SMALLER WINDOW TO DODGE!
IT'S A TRICKY SKILL
BUT YOUR SUCCESS WITH ELISE REALLY DEPENDS ON HOW RELIABLY YOU CAN LAND IT!
JUST KEEP PRACTISING AND YOU'LL EVENTUALLY GET THE
HANG OF IT!!!!!!
HEH, GET IT?!
HANG OF IT?!
*AWKWARD SILENCE*
*CLEARS THROAT* LET'S MOVE ON
ELISE'S ULTIMATE IS THE SKILL SHE USES TO SWITCH FORMS
USING IT AS A HUMAN TURNS YOU INTO A SPIDER
AND USING IT AS A SPIDER TURNS YOU INTO A HUMAN!
UGH!
NOW I GOTTA TALK ABOUT SPIDERS
LETS GET THIS OVER WITH!
TIME TO GO OVER ELISE'S SPIDER FORM
OR AS IT'S MORE POPULARLY KNOWN...
SPIDERLISE IS A MELEE ASSASSIN THAT GETS ALL UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL
DEALING BIG DAMAGE TO HER TARGETS!
YOU START THE FIGHTS IN HUMAN FORM
BUT YA FINISH EM IN SPIDER FORM, BABY!
SPIDERLISE IS DEFINITELY THE FORM YOU'RE GOING TO BE SPENDING MOST OF YOUR TIME IN!
BECAUSE OF ALL THE BONUSES THAT BEING IS SPIDER FORM GIVES YOU!
SPIDERLISE'S AUTO-ATTACKS DEAL BONUS DAMAGE AND THEY HEAL HER!
SPIDERLISE ALSO MOVES FASTER!
ALTHOUGH IT MAY NOT SEEM LIKE A BIG DEAL
IT'S GONNA SAVE YOUR HINEY IN SOO MANY STICKY SITUATIONS!
GREAT QUESTION!
ALTHOUGH SPIDERLISE IS GREAT
SHE DOESN'T REALLY DEAL THAT MUCH DAMAGE ONCE HER ABILITIES ARE ON COOL DOWN
SO YOU NEED HUMAN FORM TO BURST PEOPLE DOWN TO LOW HEALTH
USING YOUR HUMAN FORM ABILITIES ALSO MAKES YOUR SPIDER FORM STRONGER
ANY TIME YOU HIT A HUMAN ABILITY
YOU GAIN A SPIDERLING CHARGE
WHICH IS UNLEASHED WHEN YOU TURN INTO A SPIDER!
GREAT QUESTION
SPIDERLINGS ARE MINI-SPIDER HOMIES THAT FOLLOW YOU AROUND
AND DEAL BONUS DAMAGE!
THEY'RE ALSO EXTREMELY HELPFUL WHEN JUNGLING
BUT BEFORE WE GET INTO THAT...
YOUR FIRST SPIDER SKILL IS...
ELISE LEAPS AT HER TARGET
DEALING MORE DAMAGE THE LESS HEALTH THE ENEMY HAS
LESS HEALTH EQUALS MORE DAMAGE!
VENOMOUS BITE IS THE PERFECT SKILL FOR FINISHING OFF LOW-HEALTH ENEMIES!
AND SINCE LOW-HEALTH ENEMIES TEND TO BE RUNNING FOR THEIR LIVES
THE GAP CLOSER FROM THIS SKILL
AND THE BONUS MOVEMENT SPEED IN SPIDER FORM HELP YOU
SEAL THE DEAL!
YOUR SECOND SPIDER SKILL IS
BOTH ELISE AND HER SPIDERLINGS GAIN BONUS ATTACK SPEED!
REMEMBER THAT YOUR AUTO ATTACKS DEAL BONUS DAMAGE
AND HEAL YOU WHENEVER YOU'RE IN SPIDER FORM
SO MORE AUTO-ATTACKS EQUALS MORE DAMAGE AND MORE HEALING
AND NOW THAT WE'VE GOTTEN THE EASY STUFF OUT OF THE WAY...
IT'S TIME TO MOVE ONTO ELISE'S TOUGHEST SKILL!
ELISE GOES UP!
AND THEN COMES DOWN AFTER A COUPLE OF SECONDS
IF YOU SELECT A TARGET WHEN YOU USE RAPPEL
ELISE ASCENDS INTO THE AIR
AND THEN DESCENDS ONTO THE TARGET ALMOST IMMEDIATELY!
IF YOU DON'T SELECT A TARGET
ELISE GOES UP!
AND THEN COMES DOWN IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT
AFTER A FEW SECAROOS
YOU CAN USE THIS SKILL TO ESCAPE
YOU CAN USE THIS SKILL TO STOP PEOPLE FROM ESCAPING!
YOU CAN EVEN GET RID OF TURRET AGGRO WITH THIS SKILL
MAKING ELISE A GREAT TURRET DIVER!
AND YOU CAN EVEN DODGE ABILITIES WITH THIS SKILL
WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID
IT'S GONNA REQUIRE TIME AND PRACTICE FOR YOU TO
READ EACH SITUATION PROPERLY
AND USE RAPPEL IN THE MOST APPROPRIATE WAY!
ELISE'S HUMAN E AND HER SPIDER E ARE HER TOUGHEST SKILLS
BUT THEY'RE ALSO HER MOST IMPORTANT SKILLS
SINCE THEY GIVE HER AMAZING CROWD CONTROL AND MOBILITY!
LET'S STOP THE VIDEO FOR A SECOND
TO GO A LITTLE BIT DEEPER ON ELISE'S FORMS
I GUESS YOU COULD CALL THIS SECTION THE....
SPIN OFF!
TO MASTER ELISE YOU HAVE TO USE BOTH OF HER FORMS
AS EFFICIENTLY AS POSSIBLE!
YOU CAN'T SPEND MORE TIME IN ONE FORM OVER THE OTHER!
YOU'VE GOTTA USE BOTH!
THINK ABOUT IT LIKE THIS!
EACH FORM IS BASICALLY HALF A CHAMPION
AND YOU NEED BOTH FORMS TO MAKE A FULL CHAMPION
IF YOU SPEND ALL YOUR TIME IN ONE FORM
YOU'RE ONLY GETTING 50% OUT OF ELISE
HUMAN FORM IS PERFECT FOR BURSTING DOWN ENEMIES FROM A DISTANCE
WHILE YOU CLOSE THE GAP AND SWITCH TO SPIDER FORM TO FINISH THE JOB
YOU SHOULD NEVER START A FIGHT IN SPIDER FORM
SPIDER FORM IS MUCH STRONGER AGAINST ENEMIES WITH LOW HEALTH
SO UNLESS YOU'RE MOVING IN FOR THE KILL....
ALWAYS ENGAGE IN HUMAN FORM!
IT'S NOT POSSIBLE FOR YOU TO BURST AN ENEMY DOWN TO ZERO
WITH ONLY ONE FORM
YOU NEED BOTH FORMS FOR THAT!
LUCKILY FOR YOU
YOUR ULTIMATE HAS AN EXTREMELY SHORT COOL DOWN
SO YOU CAN BASICALLY SWAP FORMS ON THE FLY
USE THAT YOUR ADVANTAGE!
ALRIGHT!
BACK TO SCHOOL!
NOW THAT WE'VE PAINTED THE PICTURE THAT'S ELISE
IT'S TIME TO GO...
INTO THE JUNGLE!
YOUR MAIN GOAL AS ELISE IS TO HAVE AS HIGH OF AN IMPACT
ON THE EARLY GAME AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN
AND THEN SNOW-BALLING THOSE SMALL ADVANTAGES INTO LARGER LEADS
THAT WILL WIN YOU THE GAME!
THAT MAKES THE EARLY GAME JUNGLING PHASE THE MOST CRUCIAL TO YOUR SUCCESS!
THIS IS WHERE ELISE TRULY SHINES!
YOUR GOAL IS TO GANK AND TO GANK A LOT!
ELISE'S HUMAN AND SPIDER E'S MAKE HER ONE OF THE BEST GANKERS IN THE BIZ!
YOU CAN EFFECTIVELY AS SOON AS YOU HIT LEVEL THREE!
SO YOUR GOAL WHEN JUNGLING IS TO GET TO LEVEL THREE AS FAST AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN!
AND THEN IMMEDIATELY HITTING A LANE WITH
ONE OF DEM.....
THE QUICKEST JUNGLE ROUTES TO GET YOU TO LEVEL THREE ARE...
BLUE BUFF
WOLVES
RED BUFF
RED BUFF
WOLVES
BLUE BUFF
IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO LET YOUR SPIDERLINGS TANK THE JUNGLE MONSTERS FOR YOU
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TAKE ONE STEP BACK
FOR THE JUNGLE MONSTERS TO START ATTACKING THE SPIDERLINGS INSTEAD OF YOU
LETTING YOUR SPIDERLINGS TANK FOR YOU IS VERY IMPORTANT
BECAUSE YOU'LL HAVE MORE HEALTH
AND BE IN BETTER SHAPE TO GANK WITHOUT HAVING TO RECALL TO BASE!
WHICH SAVES A LOT OF TIME!
AS SOON AS YOU HIT LEVEL THREE...
YOU'RE IMMEDIATELY CHECKING TO SEE WHICH LANES ARE OVER-EXTENDED TO GANK!
IF YOU'RE NEW TO JUNGLING
IT'S BETTER TO ONLY FOCUS ON GANKING THE LANES WHERE THE ENEMY IS OVER-EXTENDED!
THEY'RE A LOT EASIER TO GANK SINCE THE ENEMY IS ALREADY PUSHED!
LET ME BREAK DOWN WHAT A TYPICAL OVER-EXTENDED GANK IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE...
YOU WALK UP IN HUMAN FORM AND STUN WITH COCOON
USE YOUR HUMAN Q AND W
AND THEN SWITCH TO SPIDER FORM FOR ANOTHER Q AND W!
IF THEY'RE STILL ALIVE AND GETTING AWAY
USE RAPPEL TO CLOSE THE GAP AND FINISH THEM OFF!
IF NO LANES ARE OVER-EXTENDED
THEN JUST CONTINUE FARMING AND JUNGLING UNTIL A LANE OVER-EXTENDS!
ONCE YOU'RE MORE EXPERIENCED
YOU CAN START GANKING LANES THAT AREN'T OVER-EXTENDED
HOWEVER, DON'T TRY TO FORCE GANKS THAT CAN'T BE DONE!
IT WILL BACKFIRE AND YOU WILL WASTE TIME!
AND THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE OF THE JUNGLE
BESIDES SUBSCRIBING TO EVUL GAMES
IS TO NEVER WASTE TIME!
IF YOU DON'T SEE AN OPPORTUNITY OPEN UP
KEEP FARMING THE JUNGLE!
YOU MUST BE AS EFFICIENT AS POSSIBLE
ESPECIALLY DURING THAT BRIEF WINDOW OF TIME WHERE ELISE IS OVER-POWERED!
YOU'RE EITHER FARMING OR GANKING
ALRIGHT, TIME TO TALK ABOUT THE LATE GAME!
ALTHOUGH ELISE DOES GET WEAKER DURING THE LATE GAME
THAT'S STILL NOT AN EXCUSE FOR YOU TO BE DOING POORLY!
SHE MIGHT NOT BE AS OVER-POWERED AS SHE WAS DURING THE EARLY GAME
BUT SHE CAN STILL DEAL...
AND BE A SERIOUS THREAT TO THE ENEMY!
THE BEST ADVICE THAT I CAN GIVE YOU DURING THIS PHASE OF THE GAME
IS TO STICK WITH YOUR TEAM
AND TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYONE IS GROUPED!
DON'T SOLO FARM A LANE WHILE YOUR TEAM IS IN A DIFFERENT PART OF THE MAP
THAT NEVER ENDS WELL!
TRY NOT TO DIE
SERIOUSLY, IF YOU'RE ALWAYS THE FIRST PERSON THAT DIES IN TEAM FIGHTS
THEN IT MIGHT BE WORTH IT TO JUST STAY IN HUMAN FORM AND DEAL DAMAGE FROM A DISTANCE!
IT'S NOT THE MOST IDEAL SCENARIO
BUT IT'S A LOT BETTER THAN DYING!
YOU CAN BURST SQUISHIES DOWN SUPER QUICK
IF YOU'RE ABLE TO GET A FULL COMBO OFF!
FOCUS ON TAKING THE SQUISHIES DOWN INSTEAD OF THE TANKS
AND WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T FACE-CHECK!
LET YOUR EXPLODING SPIDERS CHECK BUSHES FOR YOU
TIME TO WRAP THIS BABY UP!
ELISE GAMES ARE USUALLY DECIDED BY WHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH EARLY ON
SO IF YOU'RE HAVING A HARD TIME WINNING GAMES
FOCUS YOUR EFFORTS ON IMPROVING THE EARLY GAME
BECAUSE IT'S MUCH EASIER TO WIN A GAME THAT'S SNOW-BALLED FROM AN EARLY LEAD
THAN IT IS TO MAKE A COMEBACK ON A CHAMPION THAT DOESN'T SCALE WELL!
YOU WILL SUCK AT FIRST
BUT IT'S TOTALLY WORTH THE EFFORT
BECAUSE ELISE IS AN EXTREMELY FUN
EXTREMELY STRONG, AND VERY UNIQUE JUNGLER THAT CAN BURST DOWN FOOLS RIDICULOUSLY FAST
AND HEAVILY INFLUENCE THE FLOW OF EVERY GAME!
AND THAT RIGHT THERE IS HOW YOU PLAY ELISE!
SO GLAD WE GOT THAT OVER WITH!
SPIDERS SERIOUSLY FREAK ME OUT
I'M SOO HAPPY THAT I WON'T EVER HAVE TO
TALK ABOUT SPIDERS EVER AGAI--
ACTUALLY, NO ONE PAID ANY ATTENTION
BECAUSE NONE OF THIS IS GOING TO BE ON THE TEST!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
GONE!

Sue Gant - Planning for the Closure of Muscatatuck State Developmental Center - Duration: 6:09.[Instrumental music]
I was considered to be an expert with the US Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division,
Special Litigation.
It's called the CRIPA, which was the authority that the US Department of Justice had to ensure
that people-- persons who were institutionalized were adequately protected and that their constitutional
rights were not being violated.
And so, I worked with the Department of Justice in various capacities and various states.
And we first came into Indiana, we, myself with a team of attorneys, to New Castle
within 24 hours after the news story broke.
And then shortly after the New Castle story, then we went to Muscatatuck.
Randy Krieble who was really our contact person who helped to coordinate the visits and we would
come in for generally a week at a time, come in on Sunday and leave on-- late on Friday.
And during those times, we'd also coordinate where we would have state office meetings,
so we'd come to Indianapolis and meet with various representatives from FSSA. At Muscatatuck,
early on, it was obvious that they did not have the professional staff available to meet
the needs of the individuals at Muscatatuck nor the leadership.
The community was so dependent upon Muscatatuck and so by just even-- you know, we would be
there for a week at a time and staying locally and having comments made to us that we were
changing the economy of the area.
Did we realize what we were doing to the economy, you know, I mean, trying to-- almost passively
aggressively, maybe not so passively [laughs].
Let us know that we were having a negative influence on the locale and the kind of state
of affairs.
And the people, the employees of Muscatatuck of course were quite concerned about their future.
And I think it took a lot of hopefulness that there would be employment opportunities for
them because community development-- community programs were just starting to develop.
And it was, you know, a lot of futuristic kind of plans that were being put into place.
Of course New Castle was also similar to Muscatatuck but that was a smaller environment and less
dependent maybe on the locale.
And the horrific situation of the abuse that happened at New Castle it was really a community
outcry, a state outcry, but primarily the governor's office, you know, that announced
its closure quite quickly.
So it was a different set of circumstances.
And with the employment dependency and I think in South Indiana I think was really a big
catalyst why we got that kind of pushback.
The settlement agreement with the US Department of Justice that we entered, I was very involved
in crafting that and making sure that all the elements of a good service system were
in place including risk management and quality assurance systems and case management.
And that providers had adequate funds, the community providers to provide services in
meaningful less segregated ways and helping develop standards to ensure that there was
education for providers to understand the need for inclusion and integration and that
people wouldn't just sit at home all day but have opportunities in the community.
And community connectedness, you know, was a big part of not just being present in the
community but also be a participant in your community.
And the reunification of families and extended family members, you know, is always something
that -- I've always felt very strongly about that the point of in the early days in the
field of, you know, it was recommended by family physicians to remove your child, send
them to a place where they could get "specialized services" and be with their own kind.
It's best to stay away, let them adjust.
And it was really a promotion of separation from family versus trying to, you know, reunify
and reconnect and support and reinforce those extended family member connections.
Many times, you know, the parents were deceased or aging or in nursing homes and weren't capable
of being active guardians and so we had to seek other family members that may have not
had any association with their sibling because they left home at a very early age, or they
were older and the younger sibling had no family connection with them until we asked
them to come back into their lives.

Carroll Shelby's Own 1980s Dodges Up for Auction - Duration: 5:28.To anyone who lived through the 1980s, the notion
that the lowly Dodge Omni or Lancer hatchback might someday become a collectible classic
would be like predicting that Fruit Roll-Ups will be a culinary chef d'oeuvre in 2045.
But the surprisingly prolific partnership struck in the 1980s between Chrysler Corporation
and Carroll Shelby may have given a number of otherwise craptastic Dodges a fighting
chance to see their values actually rise.
Regardless of how many intact and well-preserved Dodge Shelby Chargers or Shelby Lancers or
Shadow-based Shelby CSX coupes might be out there in heated, moisture-controlled garages
waiting for their moment to re-arise, it seems likely that none may ever be worth as much
as the ones going to auction—with no reserve—at the Greenwich Concours d'Elegance on June
3.
Two Chargers, two CSX coupes, and a Lancer are among 23 vehicles (including two prototype
Dodge pickups) being sold directly from Carroll Shelby's estate.
Any car good enough for Ol' Shel's personal collection is collectible.
While these are arguably the very best examples of the very best versions of some of the very
most marginal cars America has ever made, we kinda think that the Bonhams auction house's
estimates of $5K to $15K seem a little low.
A K-car will always be a K-car, but how many have such complete documentation, so few miles,
commemorative plaques inside indicating they're the first of their kind, and Carroll Shelby's
signature?
So go dig around between the couch cushions, bring what you find to Connecticut, and take
home a very thin slice of automotive history.
The first offspring of the Dodge/Shelby partnership was this 1982 Dodge Shelby Charger prototype,
modified by Shelby, which was the running prototype for the 1983 production models.
Its suspension was lowered nearly an inch and a quicker steering rack was fitted, while
its naturally aspirated 2.2-liter inline-four was pumped up to 107 horsepower from 94, helping
it hit 60 mph in less than 10 seconds.
Odometer: 13,500 miles.
Bonhams lists the Shelby CSX as a Dodge, but you won't find the Dodge name or even a
Pentastar logo anywhere on it, as Shelby modified and marketed his Shadow-based CSX (which stood
for Carroll Shelby eXperimental) under his own brand.
The K-car–based CSX used the outgoing Omni GLHS's 175-hp turbocharged 2.2-liter four
and five-speed manual transmission and added an upgraded turbo.
It rides on a suspension lowered by three-quarters of an inch and has brushed aluminum wheels.
All 750 Shelby CSX coupes built for 1987 wore black over gray paint and a blue stripe, with
directional wheels.
The numbered plaque on this one's dashboard says CSX 1.
Odometer: 15,000 miles.
The Shelby Lancer is the luxury car of the group, the only one with more doors than gears.
It uses the same 175-hp turbo 2.2-liter four as the Shelby Charger and CSX, paired in this
case to a three-speed automatic, as were half of the 800 Shelby Lancers built for 1987.
Each wore bright Graphic Red paint, and as Lancer #1, this car came with the optional
sport seats and thoroughly modified touring suspension, plus stylish black wheels.
Odometer: less than 50,000 miles.
Carroll Shelby is said to have loved these mid-'80s Chargers, and the '87 GLHS was
its last year in production.
Fittingly, each of the 1000 cars built that year wore black and featured the 175-hp turbocharged
2.2-liter four-cylinder from the '86 Omni GLHS that also powered the CSX and Lancer
in '87, along with a five-speed manual transmission, Koni shocks, vented front brake discs, and
stiffer anti-roll bars.
They got gray interiors, air conditioning, and a sunroof, too.
Odometer: less than 25,000 miles.
The Exotic Red 1989 Shelby CSX VNT not only wore refreshed styling but also featured lightweight
Fiberide reinforced-plastic wheels rendered in gold.
Subtle.
Also new that year was an innovative variable-nozzle turbocharger that helped Shelby eke another
30 lb-ft of torque from the 2.2-liter engine, bringing the total to 205 lb-ft.
It rode an inch lower on Monroe coil-overs.
Only 500 were built.
Odometer: less than 7200 miles.

Increasing Capacity for Care - Duration: 3:08.So what is the alternative? What is the way forward? The way forward starts with
careful care. In careful care, you start with creating opportunities for
unhurried conversations. In these unhurried conversations, you have to give
people a chance. You give these humans a chance to see the patient situation in
high definition, so that you can understand what aspect of that situation
requires action. And then, figure out - with the patient, working together in that
conversation - what action does the situation demand? A process that
sometimes is called "shared decision-making" and whose outcome is not
to convince people to do what we want them to do, but whose outcome is to
figure out what makes sense, intellectually. What is the right answer
to this dilemma? Emotionally, what feels like the right way forward? And
practically, what could patients actually do in their lives, particularly in chronic
disease, to weave the treatment with their routines, with their lives, with their
loves. That's care, and notice that I don't say
"Providers will deliver this care." I'll say "Clinicians will care." And patients
will feel cared. Care is already a verb. You only deliver it if it's in a box.
Now for things to make sense for Maria Luisa, we saw how overwhelmed she was.
We need to understand that if we're going to shift to work to Maria Luisa, that we need
to understand what capacity she has to deal with that work. And if you start
looking at the kinds of things that give people capacity to do that work, you'll see
some connection with what has been talked being talked about as the "social
determinants of health." Social determinants of health is a population
phenomenon; it's a societal phenomenon. When we're taking care of individual
people, we don't care what the social determinants of health are in this
person's neighborhood or in their family. We have to understand how these elements
contribute to the problem or the situation of the patient, and how can
they contribute to the solution, to a resolution to getting out of that. It's
a care approach, not documentation and checks and ... it's care.
So in the case of Maria Luisa, we wouldn't be calling her "non-compliant."
We would be describing her situation as one in which what we've been asking her to
do has exceeded her capacity to do it. As an imbalance of workload and capacity.
And we can immediately begin to understand how we might get resolution
out of this. We either improve her capacity or reduce the workload, if possible. and that's what Shannon was mentioning before is the core idea
behind minimally disruptive medicine. So that's careful care and kind care.
Because in kind care, we recognize that the patient's most precious resource is
their time, their energy, and their attention and we don't waste that. And we
try to boost that possibility of capacity so not only do they have more
capacity to do more health care, but they have more capacity to do more life
