In our local area we know what inequality looks like.
Blaxland's only about 20 kilometres from Wentworth - Malcolm Turnbull's seat.
But the unemployment rate in our local area is almost 3 times as high as it is in Wentworth.
Average incomes are about a third of what they are in Malcolm Turnbull's seat.
Fewer kids finish high school and go on to TAFE and university, and at our local emergency
department for our local hospital fewer people get treated on time than they do at St Vincent's
in Malcolm Turnbull's area.
So I know what inequality looks like.
We know what it looks like.
There's no-one in the Australian Labor Party that's fighting harder against inequality
than Wayne Swan.
That's why we need Wayne as the top of our Party - as the next President of the Australian
Labor Party.
We all know the challenge here - because the tories in this building think inequality is
good for us.
And the 'Prince of Point Piper' is the leading advocate of that.
So we've got a big battle of ideas to win in this forthcoming election to make Bill
Prime Minister and put a Cabinet in place that's dedicated to fighting inequality.
I think I can play a role in that.
I reckon I've got the time, I've got the energy and I've got an ability to help the campaign.
Also to work with Party members on the ground to generate the activity that we need and
the new members that we need to win this battle.
Well, you've got me and I'm urging all Party members to join with me and vote for Wayne
Swan when ballots open on Friday the 4th of May.
So we can make Wayne Swan the next Labor Party National President.
