Starbucks Hours Near Me Today: What Time Is it Open or Closed?

The sign for a Starbucks Coffee shop is seen in Washington, DC, April 17, 2018, following the companys announcement that they will close more than 8,000 US stores on May 29 to conduct racial-bias education following the arrest of two black men in one of its cafes.

Starbucks is open every day of the year, though it may sometimes alter its hours at varying locations for certain holidays.

Today, on May 29, 2018, however, every single Starbucks will close its doors to customers at 2:30 p.m.

local time for anti-bias training.

The occasion will be referred to as "racial bias education day", as reported by TIME.

Stores will resume their normal hours tomorrow, on May 30, 2018.

So, what prompted the early closing? In April 2018, two black men, named Donte Robinson and Rashon Nelson, were sitting in a Starbucks store for several minutes in the Philadelphia area.

The two 23-year-old entrepreneurs were at the Starbucks at 18th and Spruce Streets, waiting for a business associate of theirs, when the store manager called police.

As a result, the two men were both arrested.

There did not seem to be any reasoning for the arrests, as the men sat without ordering anything.

Fellow customers tried to defend the two men as they were being confronted by police, but they were still handcuffed and removed from the establishment, according to Philly.com.

Starbucks faced backlash when a video of the incident went viral.

A woman named Melissa DePino posted the above video with this as a caption:.

@Starbucks The police were called because these men hadn't ordered anything.

They were waiting for a friend to show up, who did as they were taken out in handcuffs for doing nothing.

All the other white ppl are wondering why it's never happened to us when we do the same thing.

Prior to the manager calling the police, Robinson was denied usage of the bathroom at the Starbucks because he was not a paying customer.

The NY Times has reported that Starbucks has now changed its bathroom policies and is open for all.

TIME has reported that both men settled with the city for just $1 each, but with an agreement that officials would launch a $200,000 entrepreneurship program for students.

Kevin Johnson, the CEO of Starbucks, released a statement upon settling the incident with the two victims.

Johnson stated, "I want to thank Donte and Rashon for their willingness to reconcile.

I welcome the opportunity to begin a relationship with them to share learnings and experiences.

And Starbucks will continue to take actions that stem from this incident to repair and reaffirm our values and vision for the kind of company we want to be.".

Mayor Jim Kenney also gave a statement in regards to the settlement, saying that, "Rather than spending time, money, and resources to engage in a potentially adversarial process, Rashon Nelson and Donte Robinson approached the city and invited us to partner with them in an attempt to make something positive come of this.

This agreement is the result of those conversations, and I look forward to seeing the fruits of this effort in the coming months and years." Kenney said that what happen to Robinson and Nelson "appears to exemplify what racial discrimination looks like in 2018.".

Nelson and Robinson's attorney, Stewart Cohen, said his clients were illegally profiled in the incident, as reported by CBS News.

Hello this is Jonathan from Melbourne aquaponics I'm just making this video as

an introduction to my channel this channel is a channel about aquaponics

so fo the ones who don't know what is aquaponics here behind me I got one

aquaponic setup so basically we use a whole ecosystem to produce some food and

this ecosystem is composed of three main parts we got first some fish so here you

see a bench so if I lift the bench underneath I got some some fish I got a

fish tank with some fish and on top of this bench

I got a grow bed and in this grow bed we got some media, some rocks on the

surface of those rocks we got some bacteria so the bacteria are the second

component of this ecosystem and then we got some vegetables here. the three parts

of the ecosystem are going to live together I'm going to feed the fish when

we feed the fish they poo into the water which produces some nitrogen. This

nitrogen is going to be transformed into a form of nitrogen that is available

usable by the plants by the vegetables that are here and the vegetables are going

to grow, they are going to consume the nitrogen and the water goes back into

the fish tank and it's purified so the fish are able to live or as in very

clean conditions and we are able to produce an amazing fish and collect some

amazing vegetables you know here I got nice chilli we got some Tomatoes a lot

of leafy vegetables so that's a principle of aquaponics and if you're

interested in becoming a bit more self efficient if you're interested into

quality food into health into tasty food and into local production I believe this

channel is for you so my values are: protecting the environment and producing

our own food because I think the current food system is not working at all I

think we are doing some crazy bad things for us we are eating a lot of pesticide

eating lot of bad food eat some food that is a very low in terms of nutrients

and I also believe that we are creating generating a lot of pollution in this

planet to produce of food while we can all produce a bit of

food at home and for some of us we can produce a large quantity of food we can

even share it with our friends and our neighbors so if everyone is doing a

little bit we can really change the world but also having an aquaponics at

home it's not only a question of producing food and the food consumption

it's also a question of having fun because here you're going to work with a

whole ecosystem and we talked about three parts of the ecosystem that are the

fish, the bacteria and the vegetables and the plants but you also got a lot of

insects around and lot of birds and a lot of life that is around lizards and

it's it's a full ecosystem that is going to bring a lot of Life a lot of animals

around your house so it's a feature by itself it can look

amazing it brings a lot of life around it's a very good topic of conversation

when you got friends coming around they don't know what it is or you can explain

them it's it's really fun it's a super tool if you want to teach your kids

anything about biology mathematics physics and a lot of other topics so I

am completely passionate about aquaponics I think it's a fantastic

solution to produce your own food so if you like it if you want to learn about
