Waching daily May 21 2018

This is the week North Korea promised to invite reporters from five countries to watch the

dismantlement of the regime's nuclear test site in Punggye-ri.

The first batch of South Korean reporters left for Beijing this morning,... for a stopover,...

before hopefully taking the short flight to the North.

But they are traveling under a cloud of uncertainty as Pyongyang appears to be refusing to accept

their visa applications, a must for them to enter North Korea to cover the event.

For more, we connect live to our Lee Ji-won at Seoul's foreign ministry.

Jiwon, so still no word from North Korea on these visas?

Nope Ji-yoon not yet.

Seoul's Unification Ministry sent the list of reporters to the North once again this

morning for their confirmation,... but still no response.

As for the journalists who left this morning,... four South Korean reporters from news agency,

News1 arrived in Beijing about an hour ago.

The second group of broadcast reporters will leave Seoul in the afternoon.

Those already in China are expected to visit the North Korean embassy in Beijing right

away to try and get a visa for their travel to the North on Tuesday.

But whether or not they will actually be given a visa remains up in the air as the North

did not accept the list of South Korean reporters... or questions on how the event will be arranged,

which were delivered through the Panmunjom channel late last week.

The sudden rift between the two Koreas comes despite the recent reconciliatory mood.

It appears to be due to South Korea-U.S. joint military drills and a former North Korean

diplomat who defected to the South openly criticizing the regime last week at South

Korea's National Assembly.

So the South Korean reporters are still in limbo,... but there are journalists coming

in from other countries like the U.S., China, Russia and the UK.

Have they been given the greenlight?

Yes Ji-yoon, what we know so far is that reporters from ABC and CNN, were asked by the North

to gather at the North Korean embassy in Beijing on Tuesday morning.

If all goes as planned, the reporters are expected to leave for North Korea's Wonsan

Kalma airport by a chartered plane on Tuesday.

Wonsan is where the reporters will have their accommodation and there will also be a press

center there.

From Wonsan, the reporters will take a train to get to the test site which could take place

any day between Wednesday to Friday.

The reporters are expected to leave North Korea on Saturday or Sunday.

Meanwhile, U.S.-based North Korea monitoring website, 38 North reports that the dismantling

of the test site has begun.

According to satellite images, 38 North says several key operational support buildings

have been razed, and some of the rails for the mining carts that go in and out of the

tunnels have also been removed.

What's also notable is that four rows of small structures, placed on the hillside some 200

meters south of the site's West Portal, have become much more visible.

While their purpose remains unclear, it's thought they could've been constructed for

the reporters to safely watch the test site being demolished.

Back to you Ji-yoon.

Kiran Bedi, 'Crane Bedi': Learn Hindi with subtitles - Story for Children "BookBox.Com" - Duration: 4:54.

Crane Bedi

The Governor had called for me.

I did not quite know

what to expect.

He called me inside his office,

looked at me and asked,

"Kiran,

do you know why I have called you?"

I swung my head from side to side and said I did not.

Then he smiled slightly and said,

"Kiran, the Asian Games

are hardly a year away

and the Delhi traffic condition is chaotic.

I want you

to take over

as the Delhi traffic chief."

I did not know how to react.

This was a huge responsibility

and it turned out to be one of the most

rewarding experiences of my career.

And of course,

it would win me the nickname 'Crane Bedi'.

The 1982 Asian Games

that were held in Delhi

were a prestigious event for India.

I had to draw on

every bit of my energy

to regulate the traffic.

I was out on the roads every morning by 8,

in my white Ambassador,

which was fitted with a wireless set

and a loudspeaker.

I held a microphone in my hand,

to give instructions whenever needed,

while being driven around the city.

During this period I worked 19 hours each day.

I would return home exhausted

and collapse on my bed.

In the morning

I would get up fresh and full of energy,

ready to make my best effort again.

ready to make my best effort again.

It became a common sight

for the people of Delhi to see me

on the roads every day, clearing traffic jams.

People loved it and welcomed the change.

People loved it and welcomed the change.

People loved it and welcomed the change.

People loved it and welcomed the change.

People loved it and welcomed the change.

As the police department had no cranes,

I hired

all those available in the city

to watch the roads and tow away

wrongly parked vehicles.

These moves sent shivers

down the spines of all the drivers.

They hurried into parking lots,

as they were scared

that 'Crane Bedi' might come.

One day, a car belonging to a VIP was found

parked on the wrong side of the road.

The driver was waiting

for the car to be repaired.

A Sub Inspector fined the driver

and towed away the car,

not caring that it belonged to a VIP.

not caring that it belonged to a VIP.

In fact,

it happened to be

Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's car.

In spite of this,

I gave all my support

to the Sub Inspector

for performing his duty.

This incident made headlines

the next morning.

There were many protests,

but at the end,

people respected me

for being fair.

Improving quality of life for delirium patients and families - Duration: 1:03.

Professor Meera Agar, Chair, ImPaCCT:NSW - Delirium affects a number of different clinical outcomes.

So, at a patient level it is about the symptom experience, your ability to attend to things

that are around you, your conscious level and also your cognition.

At a health service level delirium costs a lot of resources because people are in hospital

for longer, the types of medical treatments that they need are much more complex, and

traditionally antipsychotics have been used to manage those symptoms.

So, all our research really tries to look at a broad range of impact and also to evaluate

whether antipsychotics offered symptom relief above and beyond some of the other things

that we know.

Really the fundamental things are about what it means to the patient and their families.

If we can improve it at that level then naturally some of the other outcomes can also be improved.

Professor Meera Agar, Chair, ImPaCCT:NSW - My focus area is looking at cognitive issues

and the impacts on the brain from advanced or chronic illness.

The types of illnesses that are covered in this area are people living with dementia,

people who have brain tumors, and also a condition called delirium.

The study we're currently doing is using a scientific framework to try and unpack the

potential benefits of medicinal cannabis, including botanical forms of medicinal cannabis,

on symptoms, especially in advanced or chronic illness.

Support for live export ban grows as shutdown bill begins voyage through Parliament - Duration: 6:00.

Support for live export ban grows as shutdown bill begins voyage through Parliament

Support for shutting down the live sheep export trade is gaining ground, with Labor set to formally endorse the proposal this week.

Liberal MP Sussan Ley will today introduce a private members bill that would ban live sheep exports to the Middle East during the northern hemisphere summer months in 2019 and entirely close the sector down in five years.

This has been a trade marked by disaster following debacle and thats gone on for 33 years, its had a very sad history, a very dismal history, she said.

Shadow Agriculture Minister Joel Fitzgibbon told AM Labor will lock in its support for what will be known as the Live Sheep Long Haul Export Prohibition Bill.

I will certainly be recommending to both the shadow cabinet and to the party room this week that we support the bill, he told AM.

I have no doubt that the bill reflects the view of the broader Labor Party and on that basis Im very confident that the party room will embrace the bill.

Labors support drastically increases Ms Leys chances of securing the numbers to debate the bill in the House of Representatives.

She already has the backing of Liberal colleagues Sarah Henderson and Jason Wood, and believes the numbers will increase.

Ive had conversations with two or three that … are very supportive.

I will leave it up to them about when they talk about their support and to what degree they might get behind this bill, she said.

But her hopes of securing Ian Goodenoughs support, who indicated an interest in the bill, have fallen through.

After considering all the factors I have decided to initially back the Government position on the McCarthy Review to implement a series of changes, he said.

Where to from here?.

History shows most private members bills do not pass Parliament, because debate has to be approved by the Government.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has made it clear he has no intention of shutting down the trade because he believes the sector can be cleaned up.

The Government last week announced it would implement all 23 recommendations made by the McCarthy Review, which include reducing the number of sheep on vessels and jail time for those breaking the new laws.

Ms Ley needs to rely on Labor, the crossbench and some of her colleagues to get the bill over the line, and Joel Fitzgibbon believes that is possible.

However it is dependent on several factors, including Labor winning the impending byelections.

If Labor can restore its numbers to 69, with Sussan Ley and Sarah Henderson we get to 71, he said.

We only need five more to get the absolute majority we need to pass the bill.

We will find at least three of those on the crossbench and a number of the Governments own ranks have approached me expressing their support privately for this bill..

Like with any private members bill it is a juggling act with numbers, but the uncertainty has not stopped Ms Ley.

I in some ways compare this to the gay marriage debate where several private members bills were tabled over the years and they didnt provide the immediate response but they were all part of building the case, making the argument and looking at it … with fresh eyes, she said.

The live sheep export trade will be under the microscope in the coming months, as politicians watch to see if the sector has implemented changes to improve conditions for the animals.

Any major incidents at sea could see more Liberal MPs supporting the bill, such as Mr Goodenough.

I believe the bill has merit and could be used as an end measure in the event that the Governments reforms do not improve the industry, he said.

Queensland Liberal MP Warren Entsch said there would have to be another rethink about the industrys future if large numbers of sheep died at sea.

I dont want to do a knee jerk reaction on this, he said.

The reality is that if these changes mean that we dont see that image again then we know we have achieved the right outcome.

If those images surface again, then I know something has to change..

For the third time in nine days, a mountain lion is on the prowl in ISU - Duration: 3:39.

Third mountain lion sighting in ifu area prompts outdoors group leader to request warning signs be posted for the third time

in nine days

A mountain lion is on the prowl in the Idaho State University

Area prompting the leader of a national outdoors group to request authorities take action

Martin Hackworth the executive director of the chuck based Shera trails org

said he visited the red kill area on sunday morning following Saturday night's mountain lion sighting there and was astonished that

Authorities had not posted any signs warning the public about the mountain lions now known to be in the area

I went down there and saw kids playing and women pushing their babies in strollers

Said hackworth who lives in Pocatello near the Red Hill area

It's totally insane that there are no signs anywhere warning people about the mountain lions

Someone could get hurt or killed

Pocatello police received a report in around 8:25 p.m

Saturday that a mountain lion was in the Red Hill area south of ISU and since then the journal has received multiple reports

From residents about another mountain lion being spotted in the income area

Also on Saturday there was a fatal mountain lion attack in nearby, Washington State in

That incident a mountain lion attacked two men who were mountain biking about thirty miles from Seattle

The mountain lion killed one of the men and seriously injured the other

Authorities used bounds to later track down and killed a mountain lion believed to be responsible for the attack

Pocatello police units and I go fish and gain

Personnel responded to Saturday night's mountain lion sighting in Pocatello and searched for the big cat until around 10:00 p.m

But could not find the animal Fish and Game said they have not received reports about the mountain lion in the income area

But we'll look into those sightings

Local authorities are encouraging residents to keep on the lookout for mountain lions

And if you see one, please report it immediately to Pocatello police at area code to zero eight

Two three four six one zero zero or the Bannock county sheriff's office at area code to zero eight, two three six

one

Saturday's incident near ifu comes on the heels of a Wednesday mountain lion sighting in the area of is use ridge crest

Apartments near Red Hill and a maze eleventh incident in which a mountain lion was tranquilized and captured by Fish and Game

personnel on Red Hill Trail located between Red Hill and

Mountain View Cemetery

The Tramp alized big cat was relocated by Fish and Game to a remote areas far from the gate city

Police and Fish and Game couldn't locate the mountain lion spotted on Wednesday

None of the mountain lion incidents in the I su area have resulted in injuries to people and Fish and Game says the big cats

Are likely hunting for marmots and rabbits and not humans

But Hepworth said it's routine for authorities to post signs at parks and campgrounds

When there's an animal issue and he's baffled why no mountain lion warning signs have been posted in the Red Hill area

I've seen trails closed for an entire month because someone saw a moose to protect the moose

Hackworth said but there's nothing being done to protect people in the Red Hill area. It's insane
