"A Star Is Born" song - "Remember Us This Way" by Lady Gaga (cover) - Duration: 1:46.

When I'm all choked up, but I can't find the words

Every time we say goodbye, baby, it hurts

When the sun goes down,

And the band won't play,

I'll always remember us this way

Oh yeah,

I don't want to be "just another one", baby

No, no, no

When I'm all choked up, I can't find the words

Every time we say goodbye, baby, it hurts

When the sun goes down,

And the band won't play,

I'll always remember us ...

this way

Life is Like Dark Souls (Video Game) - Duration: 1:59.

Ah... hello there.

Life is like

Dark Souls

You pick your gear.

What hairstyle do I pick?

You decide what looks best on you.

Axe or bow?

And then you go out and fight,

I'm ready.

and fail.

Why is there a hole here...

And fail again.

Another hole?

But you don't give up.

You just need a bit of Jolly Cooperation.

You look at how you failed and correct your mistakes.

If you miss it, you must be blind.

But when you're stuck, you learn from others.

A blood stain. Let's see how this guy died.

They left notes for you to succeed.

He just tripped over a rock.

You can see your mistakes and adjust your path.

Ok, I just don't have to step on a...

Who put this arrow here?

It's written right there for you.

You just have to look.

So that means if I just go over here and just... Whaaaaaa

Even when times feel dark.

I can't do it.

You find people who keep you in a good spirit.

Praise the sun.

And so you go out and fail again.

- Let me help you. - Thank you.

Because without failure, you can't have persistence.

Ha!

Without failure, you can't improve.

Help me!

So rise again.

I am in awe, really...

And come back stronger and better than ever before.

Got it!

That was just the first boss.

So this helmet is so small

that I was doing it like this

for half of the video.

So I had to record again.

Err... I look like an idiot.

And for those who actually know the costume,

good on you.

For those who watch my "Life is like a video game" video,

I had a lot of requests saying life is like Dark Souls.

And I get you.

Because it's a game where you lose and die over and over and over again.

In that game,

you know, there are ways for you to succeed.

And that's kind of where I draw it all from.

So when you're stuck on something,

someone has done this before.

Someone has told you how to succeed.

So go out, find those notes.

In autobiographies, people tell you how to do it.

We just don't want to listen.

We somehow think that we're better than them.

Learn from people, learn from your mistakes,

go out and fail.

Because without failure, you can't succeed.

So hey, life is like Dark Souls.

You eventually will win.

If you enjoyed the video, hit the like button,

subscribe and I'll see you guys soon.

Jim Cummins on what language is. - Duration: 2:03.

Language has been a characteristic of human society since the very beginning.

and it's in many ways what makes humans 'human'.

And as communication evolved in human history

our brains grew to accommodate the

complexities of communication that language made possible.

and so it's clearly very much part of our identities,

both individually and collectively.

The complexity can be seen from the fact that

multiple disciplines look at language. It's not just linguistics that looks at language.

Psychology looks at language in terms of the way we

process information in our brains and

how language affects

the way in which our brains operate.

There's one whole half of our brains that is devoted to processing language.

Sociology looks at language in terms of the role it plays in society.

There are all kinds of issues that we

see on a daily basis in terms of

language tensions in particular countries between

groups that speak different languages in Canada, for example,

over the last 20 or 30 years there have been

movements towards separation within Quebec

tied in with language.

In Ireland, which is where I grew up, there were

multiple debates going on about the revival of the Irish language and

the amount of time they would spend on it in schools, etcetera.

So language is a sociological phenomenon.

It's a neurological phenomenon also.

We can now, through imaging, look at how language is

processed neurologically within our brains.

And so the complexity of language is reflected in the

multiple disciplines that look at language.
