Safa president Danny Jordaan steps up bid for seat at Fifa's head table

Safa president Danny Jordaan steps up bid for seat at Fifa's head table.

South African Football Association president Danny Jordaan faces final days of canvassing as he seeks election to football's most powerful body – the FIFA Council.

Jordaan has been endorsed as the candidate of Cosafa – the regional body of southern African football associations – for the post vacated by former Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Nyantakyi has been banned from football after being caught in a bribery sting.

The spot on the council is reserved for an African official from an Anglophone country and Jordaan is up against Elvis Chetty (Seychelles)‚ Moses Hassim Magogo (Uganda)‚ Walter Nyamilandu (Malawi) and Leodgar Tenga‚ who is a former Tanzania Football Association president and CAF executive committee member and played for his country in their only African Nations Cup finals appearance in 1980.

Jordaan has been traveling through west Africa in the last week seeking support and was in London on Monday night for the FIFA awards – where he would have met more officials from other African countries in a search for support.

Even though the post is only for an Anglophone‚ the entire membership of the Confederation of African Football vote in the ballot on Sunday when CAF hold a special congress in Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt.

It has been called specially for the vote to fill the FIFA seat.

Jordaan arrives in Egypt on Tuesday for CAF meetings which precede the vote.

He is a member of the executive committee of African football's governing body.

It is the third time Jordaan is seeking a place on the FIFA council‚ which has 37 members and is the all-powerful cabinet that runs the affairs of world football's governing body.

He was handed a embarrassing setback in first bid in 2011‚ when the SAFA boss stood for both the CAF and FIFA executive committee elections but withdrew from the CAF election against Kalusha Bwalya of Zambia in a tactical move he thought would help his bid for the FIFA post.

But it backfired as Jordaan received 10 votes from the 53 national members who make up CAF and was handsomely beaten.

Two years ago he also announced his intention to stand but withdrew from the race ahead of FIFA integrity checks.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery hints at first team role for Reiss Nelson | AFC News - Duration: 1:41.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has hinted Reiss Nelson can be part of his first-team plans

next season.

Nelson would have been a shoo-in to start Wednesday night's Carabao Cup clash against

Brentford but joined Hoffenheim on loan earlier this summer.

Nelson is highly rated at the Emirates Stadium, indeed England manager Gareth Southgate is

understood to be particularly keen to see how 18-year-old performs in Germany given

the dearth of English talent playing regularly in the Premier League.

And Emery, who will ring the changes for Wednesday's clash, says Nelson has a future at the club,

despite allowing him leave on loan.

'Players like Emile Smith Rowe, like Joe Willock, like Eddie Nketiah and also Reiss Nelson are

interesting to me,' said Emery.

'But we decided it's better for Reiss to go on and take this responsibility and get experience

of games with a good level in Germany.

I think that's good.'

On his team selection for Wednesday, Emery added: 'We can give players chances to play,

chances to take confidence and minutes in the game.

'The possibility is to give the players who are playing less in one competition to take

minutes and these responsibilities going forward.'

The balance required for leading sales teams. - Duration: 2:09.

Hello there. I've been on the Gold Coast this week and the key theme of a lot

of discussions we having this week is really about sales and more importantly

leading sales teams. And I find that so many people get caught up in the

minutiae of all the little bits and things they've got to get right about

sales, and about sales teams. Trying to "manage people" is what a lot of sales

leaders focus on. But the key thing around sales and leading sales teams is

actually to try and get things in balance. So, I learned this quite a few

years ago when I came out of being in sales leadership roles myself and I

eventually started teaching at QUT. One of the things I had to do is find

research and actually go to the whole academic process of what worked in sales.

One of the key things about leading sales teams is getting things in balance;

and what I mean is getting things in balance, it's all the different

components of it. The centre part of what I call the hub or the wheel of leading

sales teams is really the Customer Strategy. So what's in balance then is

your sales tactics are in line with that your recruitment approach is in line

with that the way you organise the team aligns up with your customer strategy

and all of these things have to come together. How you motivate the team how

you work together with the team how you collaborate and how you build the skills

and how you build the motivation for the group to stay focused and it's a

balancing act. I call it the Wheel of Leading Sales Teams because when you put

the Customer Strategy at the center and you put all these functions around the

outside of it. It's then about how we get them in balance. That's how we optimise

the outcomes and results for leading sales teams. So if you'd like to know

more about this I can drop you a paper on it, just say "yes please" in the

comments. I'm also offering your coaching package, which I have been doing

informally recently, but I'm now making it more as a starter package, if you like.

If you're a sales person who wants to step up and take on a sales

leadership role, I've got a coaching package to get you started on that. Or

even if you're experienced sales person and just want to learn more about

getting things in these things and balance just let me know. Drop me a

message and we'll go from there. I hope this has been a value and thanks

for watching.

Leicester City winger Demarai Gray set for scan on ankle injury - Duration: 1:54.

Demarai Gray will undergo a scan on Wednesday to discover the extent of a concerning ankle injury sustained during Leicester's Carabao Cup victory at Wolves

The winger turned his left ankle in the turf while challenging Ryan Bennett for the ball in added time and initially believed he had suffered a break

Claude Puel said Gray saw his shinpad jutting out at an angle and thought it was bone

The 22-year-old was in agony on the grass, and received oxygen before being taken off on a stretcher with his leg in a brace

Puel said: 'He will have a scan tomorrow morning.I hope of course it will not be serious

He is positive.'In the beginning he was afraid on the pitch, because he believed, with his shinpad sticking outside his sock, that it may have been broken

' Gray was seen leaving Molineux using crutches and wearing a protective boot on the damaged foot

Cash-strapped Bloemfontein Celtic boss asks the PSL for money to help pay his players - Duration: 4:26.

Cash-strapped Bloemfontein Celtic boss asks the PSL for money to help pay his players

Cash-strapped Bloemfontein Celtic boss asks the PSL for money to help pay his players.

Bloemfontein Celtic's beleaguered and broke owner Max Tshabalala has asked the Premier Soccer League (PSL) for money to help pay his players and avoid a meltdown of the club in the latest twist to an increasingly tardy saga.

TimesLIVE has learnt that Tshabalala asked the PSL executive committee for a significant loan to tide over his club as he now awaits new offers for the franchise.

Tshabalala is back in control again after the proposed sale of the club to business people Sinki Leshababane and Moeketsi Mosola fell through a fortnight ago.

It has meant another month without pay for players‚ who last week refused to train in protest but did eventually play on Sunday.

They lost their first game of the season in going down 1-0 at home to Maritzburg United.

Tshabalala is heavily in debt after the collapse of his tender empire‚ with money owed both to banks and to the South African Revenue Services (SARS).

An array of Tshabalala's vehicles were auctioned earlier this month and six houses are be repossessed by the bank‚ according to insiders.

This is on top of a large tax bill which Tshabalala and Celtic owe to SARS.

The debt pile at Celtic is the reason for the collapse of the proposed sale to Leshababane and Mosola.

Insiders say their lawyers advised them against going ahead after due diligence of Celtic's books‚ which reveal unpaid transfer fees‚ signing-on fees‚ salaries and tax.

The proposed new owners had already fronted R3m to keep the club ticking over and pay wages and had been in effective control of Celtic since the start of the season.

They now want their money back‚ claiming Tshabalala was negotiating in bad faith … but will have to get in a long queue of debtors.

Tshabalala‚ who has denied negotiating in bad faith‚ is said to owe between R60-70m.

He received millions in tenders from the Free State province but then fell foul of political leaders and has seen his empire come crashing down as the money well runs dry.

Celtic is for sale at R40m but any prospective owners will also be taking on significant debt.

Influential PSL figures have advised Tshabalala would be best served to give away the club and let any new owner take over the debt‚ otherwise he is going to sink into an even deeper hole.

But Tshabalala is obviously keen to make some money out of the deal to alleviate his situation.

It is understood there has been interest from Jimmy Augousti‚ who was the previous owner and a former player.

He is likely the only chance to keep the club in the Free State‚ which Tshabalala said was his preference.

Now he is happy to sell anywhere‚ he said at the weekend.
