So here's your daily tip from your friendly local dermatologist.

Shaving: how and when are you supposed to shave? Doesn't matter

if you're shaving your beard, your armpits, or your legs.

There are some basic concepts to follow. Concept #1: Shave at the end of your shower.

That way your hair is swollen a little bit from the moisture,

and you're able to get a better shave without causing as much damage to your skin.

Tip #2: Always go with the direction of the hair grows. Do not shave against your beard.

That's just gonna cause more local irritation and problems.

Tip #3: Use a good gentle shaving cream.

I personally use a

Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Wash. The one I use is Oxy but there's lots of them out there.

And the reason I do that is it helps cut down on

the little red bumps that you get after shaving.

It also helps prevent some acne. Now please, remember to rinse it off completely before you get out of the shower,

otherwise you're going to bleach your towels and your clothes, and you're not going to be happy.
