Waching daily Jan 31 2019

Whoa. Who made that one?

The other day I was taking my daughter to a toy store downtown and I got reminded of a job I did

towards the end of last year that I had forgotten all about. An agency here in Japan

approached me about making a song for a Pokemon commercial. I didn't know so much

about Pokemon when I was growing up. I think it came to the US when I was a

little bit older. But once I moved here to Japan I saw it everywhere. And now I

have two kids and they love it. It's on their bread that they want to

eat in the morning. They have cookies it's on their tissues that they take to

school, and the towels, and Pokemon origami. When you do this kind of commercial

projects you usually get something called a brief and basically the brief

is a set of guidelines about what they're looking for and the music for

this instance and what they really wanted this time was a sense of chaotic

playfulness they almost wanted to feel like the inside of a toy store where

there are instruments all around and kids are going crazy but to keep it

melodic and to give the story a sense of structure so the other parts of the

brief included wanting to have a break in about 24 seconds whenever it zooms in

on the main character and she shows the card that she found in the package to

get this sense of playfulness I decided to use a Suzuki and ease which is one of

my favorite and also silliest instruments I've ever heard it sounds

like this so it looks kind of like a piano or a melodica but it sounds like a

recorder and then also to really make it sound naive no not too professional

I found this would my friend has a furniture shop kind of in our

neighborhood and he gave me some scraps of different types of wood he had been

using to make sofas and chairs so they're all about the same length but

depending on the thickness and the type of wood they sound quite different

I sampled these into Ableton and then played it with a keyboard so that would

be and key with the rest of the song I also sampled some other toy

instruments like this funny little drum and the toy piano when you do this kind

of commercial project you usually have to do a few different demos in this case

I did four of them an a a B C and D if you're interested I'll play all of them

here so that you can hear what they sounded like here's eight

see sounded like this and D was an arrangement of the Pokemon card game

rules song

there are usually some kind of weird rules here about who can post the videos

on their own like accounts so I can't put the whole video right here on

account but I'm gonna put a link to it right here is that working somewhere

over here and here's a video of my daughter watching it on TV at our house

who made that once let me know if you're interested in hearing about this kind of

work stuff more in the future I know different people have different opinions

about it but it's how we pay to keep the studio and to keep our kids bellies full

of that Pokemon bread and if you want let me know if you're interested in me

sampling this tuning it up and putting it into like Ableton and contact patches

in the future too that might be something cool to think about that I

hope you have a good week later

हिंदी - 3 stocks I like for 2019 - Duration: 7:35.

Hello investors, my name is Sagar and in this video I will share 3 stocks that I like a lot

I haven't invested yet but I'm tracking them closely until I find the prices attractive

I will talk about their business model and what I like about them

many people have asked me why you don't invest in all the companies you analyze

Let me explain why. Imagine I offer you this pen for 10 Rs

Most probably you will buy it for 10 Rs but if I offer you the pen again for 50 000 Rs, will you still buy it ?

Of course you won't because that's too expensive. This pen doesn't provide so much value

Something similar happens when I analyze companies. If I can't get them for 10 Rs like the pen , it doesn't make sense to me

When I find them expensive, I just track them and I'm sure I will have an opportunity to invest in them

The first company is Piramal Enterprises. I've already analyzed this company and you will see the card above

I love their management and their chairman Mr. Ajay Piramal. He's a great investor and let me explain why I like that

Imagine a company earns 100 crore. Now what? You will have to do something with that money

Mr. Ajay Piramal is a great investor and he knows what he needs to do with the money the company earns

and this will create extra value for the shareholder.

There is one more advantage in this company . They are very diversified as they work in many sectors.

They are present in fast growing sectors. Especially the finance sector is doing really well.

They have also started a housing finance business and I'm sure they will do really well as they always focus in quality

and that's why I like this business a lot because they operate in fast growing sectors

The second company is Hatun Agro. I will analyze this company very soon.

I've read a lot about the managing director and the journey of this company.

how they survived with so much competition and how they operated in fast growing sectors

Let me share one example. When they started in 1970, they were sellling ice creams

They realized there wasn't a lot of competition in one region. Usually a brand starts in one place and then they expand to other regions

They didn't do that. They started in one region and they just kept strengthening their brand

I like how the management explains about the business model.

They have shown consistent growth and one reason might be the sector. India is one of the biggest consumer of dairy products

this sector is growing at double digits. I've also seen their future prospects

There is one more important factor. When you're selling products like ice cream, you need to build a brand. As there are many people selling ice creams

but if you have a strong brand, they can demand a higher price.

You can also keep advertising the same brand and make it stronger.

and when the brand launches another products, there is a high probability the products will do well.

and that's what they have done with Hatsun Agro. I like the management and the brands

but I love their strategy the most. They want to grow in areas where there isn't a lot of competition

because I've seen this strategy work like a charm.

I've already made a videon on the third company and that is IDFC First

I haven't invested in this company but I track it very closely

This company wants to focus on retail loans because this provides great margins

and as they have a banking license, they can raise money at cheaper rates.

If you want to know more about the company , I will put a card above

The leader of this company is Mr. Vaidyanathan and he has a lot of experience in retail

so I don't doubt their capabilities in this sector

and as you know, they provide loans to customers. So, if you want to buy a fridge, TV or some other items, they can help you

and as you know, there is a lot of customers in India, so there is huge scope for growth

but there are 2 notes to keep in mind. There are other companies which offer similar products, so there is competition

Bajaj Finance, also operates in retail sector and they already have many customers

but the management has a lot of experience but I'm tracking it because I want to see how they collect funds

as they need funds to manage their operations . So raising capital is very important

They are assuming that CASA will help them but as its their first year, I would like to track them more

If the story is good, they will be a good investment even after 2 years

It would be risky to invest at the moment as I don't know how will their numbers be in the first years

if I decide to invest now,it would be for the management

Star's son Bear, one, said 'Mama!' for the first time while watching her on The Greatest Dancer - Duration: 8:58.

Star's son Bear, one, said 'Mama!' for the first time while watching her on The Greatest Dancer

Cheryl has revealed her son Bear has said 'Mama!' for the first time - while he was watching his mother on television.

The singer, who is currently a dance captain on BBC talent series The Greatest Dancer, revealed to MailOnline that her one-year-old is a fan of the show and showing early signs of being a fantastic dancer himself - and that he recognised her on the screen.

'He's been watching,' Cheryl, 35, revealed. 'And it was the first time he said "Mama!". He said it to the TV. And he's a natural dancer!'. Cheryl shares son Bear with ex Liam Payne, 25, of One Direction.

On the series, Cheryl sits alongside Matthew Morrison and Oti Mabuse, who act as a trio of captains, taking on acts and coaching them through to the final.

The prize is a chance to dance on Strictly Come Dancing 2019, as well as a sizeable cheque.

We've been working really hard in rehearsals,' Cheryl told us of her plans for her final three acts - Frobacks, Dane Bates Collective and Harry & Eleiyah - whom she selected on last weekend's show.

'I feel so excited for them and my plan is just to make sure that they're feeling happy and confident and comfortable with what they've got to do.

'It's the first time that any of them have performed live on TV to millions of people. The 3 Words songstress admitted, however, that she wishes she could have selected more than three acts.

'To be honest if I could've had more than three there was absolutely more people I'd have loved to have taken through. But my three left a mark that I couldn't ignore,' she said.

'The deliberation lasted hours and in the edit it was cut down to minutes.'. Cheryl came to blows with Glee star Matthew over their choices.

She said: 'It was really just me and Matthew fighting most of the day and [Oti] stealing people.

What you didn't see on TV was Oti kept taking pictures from the desk and hiding them, but she's got such a way about her that you just let her away with it.'.

Cheryl's role on TGD comes after she sat behind the judging desk on The X Factor from 2008-2011, rejoining the series again from 2014-2015. And when asked about the difference between the two, she remains diplomatic.

'They're so different, I just love music which means singing and dancing so I feel really fortunate that I've been able to be involved in both, ' she said, before insisting that the BBC show doesn't have the same cut-throat vibe that The X Factor can have.

She said: 'We get on great. Sometimes I feel like there should probably be more tension but I think that we all enjoy dance equally and each other!.

'Some people have said the audience has too much power when it comes to voting as they don't understand some of the technical aspects of dance - so why aren't the experts deciding?.

'The dance captains have experience in their own respective fields, so it works both ways in my opinion.

Ultimately, it's going to be the public who decide who they want to crown as the best dancer so I think it's important they have their say from the start.'.

14 Types of Bad Bosses to Work for | Maresa Ng, Business Coach - Duration: 6:20.

Hey guys!

Welcome to the Maresa Ng Official Channel where we help businesses to grow!

So...

Today's segment is gonna be very very interesting, I hope to get many many comments from you.

You see, the thing about what we see on YouTube, what we we see on Blog, what we see on Social

Media, are "The Top Qualities for Bosses and Leaders".

And I see, that's the thing...

Those kinds of post don't really help us to grow because, if you're a boss or you're a

leader, watching this video, you probably think that you are awesome.

So, I'm gonna do the opposite, which is a video about some of the worst bosses to work

for.

And then you figure out that you are in that list or if some of you may have a quality

that's not in this video yet that I did not mention yet, pop it down in the comment below

and we will see...

Okay guys...

So here it goes, this is the list.

#1 The Last Minute Boss.

Where the team is more organized than you are.

#2 The Forgetful Boss.

The boss that tells you to do something and then two weeks later screws the hell out of

you for actually doing it.

Forgetful, right?

#3 The Sudden Micromanager Boss.

The kind of boss that empowers you to do whatever is necessary for you to get results, and then

they went home and they have a bad dream, and the next day, they decide to micromanage,

they "Hey, that one done ah?

This one done ah?"

#4 The Love The Sound Of My Own Voice Boss.

So, in meetings, this boss is talking all the time.

Nobody else is talking but this guy.

#5 The "Kiam Siap" Boss.

Sorry ya for those of you who don't speak Chinese, "Kiam Siap" means S-T-I-N-G-Y!

So the "Kiam Siap" boss "Eh!

Why are we using this expensive brand of toilet paper ah?"

#6 The Call For Meetings At 5.45pm Boss.

So of course, that speaks for itself.

The kind of boss that will call a meeting toward the end of the day and drag everybody

until 8.00pm.

#7 The Celebrity Boss.

The kind of boss that makes an appearance every now and then in the office, and you

probably get to see her more on TV, often more on TV that you would see her in the office.

#8 The Can't Make Decision Boss.

So inside meetings, "What do you think ah?

What do you think ah?

What do you think ah?

Oh, very good.

Okay, that's very good.

Very good, very good, very good.

Okay, fantastic.

All right, everybody, meeting adjourn.

Thank you very much, bye!"

Avoid making decision.

#10 The Get In The Way Boss.

So the team is actually very very capable, but the boss comes in and changes everything

last minute, and says to everybody at the end of the day "Thank goodness I'm here.

Lucky I intervene, because of me, this project went well."

So guys, any of you feel any of this is kicking in, "Ugh..."

Or if I have not mentioned yet, one of the worst qualities of bosses to work for, pop

it in the comment.

#11 The Love To WhatsApp Boss.

All right, the kind of bosses that love creating WhatsApp groups for whatever reason, yeah.

Number two, the kind of bosses, the first thing they do when they wake up, is they text,

they bark orders at 6.30 in the morning, yeah!

First thing they do before they brush their teeth.

And the kind of bosses, at about 12.00 midnight, they think of something and they are whacking

into the WhatsApp group as well.

And #12, this is a serious one...

The Company Rules Only Apply To Staff, Not Bosses Boss.

So the kinds of bosses that create rules, culture, and policies that "Opp...

Only apply to staff, don't apply to bosses.

Thank you very much."

#13 The Reminiscing Boss.

The kind of bosses that in meetings, "Aiyah...

You remember, those days ah, when I was running my business, those days ah, wah...

Those days ah, where got Google lah?

You fellows ah, don't know something only ah, straight away go to where, you know, Google.

You know, last time, those days ah, where we find out ah.

I remembered I have to call who, call who, and get my information, you know?!"

The reminiscing boss...

And #14, you'll have a bit of fun with this one.

The Better Than Everyone Else Boss.

So, this boss will easily take work from anybody.

Just because you don't do it well enough, they are going to take it away from you and

they're going to do it themselves.

All right, they get to fill themselves up with a lot of work and if you submit work

to this type of boss at 5.00pm and then you act incompetent enough "Alamak, boss.

I don't know lah...

I don't know lah..."

And then my work is shoddy enough, don't worry.

This boss is going to take it away for you.

So guys, this was a little bit of a hilarious video to make, and I'll tell you why.

Because as I'm making this video, I'm also working on some of the worst qualities that

I've got with my team, and my team is probably watching this video and laughing away "Ugh...

She's like this...

She's like that..."

And well, you know, it is...

It is really, guys, it is a really good mirror.

But if I have gone through this list and I'm not covering some of the worst bosses to work

for, pop it in the comment, and I'll probably do a second version of all the different types

of bosses there are...

So, gang!

Have a Great Business and a Great Life!

And I'll see you next week...

ON THE JET STREAM.

THE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCES IN

OUR WARMING CLIMATE BETWEEN THE

THE REST OF THE GLOBE AREN'T AS

GREAT BECAUSE THE ARCTIC IS

WARMING SO MUCH FASTER.

AND THAT'S CAUSING THE JET

STREAM TO SLOW DOWN, BECOME

WAVIER, AND MEANDER MORE.

AND THAT OPENS THE DOOR TO THESE

FACEBOOK OR TWITTER TO DO

ANYTHING.

THE GOVERNMENT PASSED

LEGISLATION LAST YEAR REQUIRING

A PUBLIC REGISTRY OF ONLINE

POLITICAL ADS.

BUT FOR NON-ADVERTISING CONTENT

THAT'S STILL A DISCUSSION.

>> I THINK THAT THERE'S AN

OPENNESS.

I THINK THAT THERE'S AN

UNDERSTANDING ON THE PART OF THE

SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS THAT THEY

NEED TO DO THINGS BETTER, THAT

THEY HAVE TO RE-EARN THE TRUST

OF

THE PEOPLE THAT USE THEIR

PLATFORMS.

>> Reporter: THAT TRUST HAS

BEEN BADLY DAMAGED.

IN THE U.K., MILLIONS OF

FACEBOOK USER HIS THEIR PRIVATE

INFORMATION MISUSED DURING THE

BREXIT CAMPAIGN.

IN THE U.S., TWITTER BOTS WENT

INTO OVERDRIVE IN THE STRETCH

RUN

OF THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.

>> THE SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS THAT

CAN WEAPONIZE A LIE ON THEIR

PLATFORM ARE NOT REQUIRED TO DO

ANYTHING SUBSTANTIVE IN THIS

CONVERSATION ABOUT SPREADING

MIS AND DISINFORMATION TO

CANADIAN VOTERS IN OUR

ELECTIONS.

>> Reporter: TWITTER AND

FACEBOOK ISSUED STATEMENTS

VOWING TO COOPERATE.

BUT IT'S AN OPEN QUESTION IF

EVEN THAT WILL BE ENOUGH BECAUSE

THE

HACKERS, TROLLS AND BOTS ARE

OFTEN A STEP AHEAD.

>> I DON'T KNOW THAT ANY

GOVERNMENT, FRANKLY, HAS THE

POWER TO FULLY REIN IN ALL OF

THAT KIND OF ACTIVITY.

THEY'RE CHANGING THEIR TACTICS

ON AN ONGOING BASIS.

SO EVEN IF YOU HAD THE FULL

COOPERATION OF THESE PRIVATE

COMPANIES, IT'S STILL HARD TO

TELL WHAT'S GOING ON SOMETIMES.

>> Reporter: THE GOAL NOW IS

TO GET THAT COOPERATION FORCED

IN PART BY OUTRAGE OVER PAST

PRACTICES.

>> The Hon. Ralph Goodale: IT

TOOK A WHILE TO GET THE

TRACTION, BUT THE RESPONSIVENESS

HAS INCREASED OVER THAT PERIOD

OF TIME.

MANY COUNTRIES ARE NOW RAISING

WITH THEM THIS SAME POINT ABOUT

FOREIGN INTERFERENCE IN

ELECTIONS.

SO THE TOPIC WILL NOT COME AS A

SURPRISE TO ANY OF THEM.

>> Reporter: NOT A SURPRISE,

BUT A BIG JOB WITHOUT MUCH TIME.

CANADIANS GO TO THE POLLS IN

OCTOBER.

DAVID COCHRANE, CBC NEWS,

OTTAWA.

>> Adrienne: LATER IN THE SHOW

I'LL SPEAK WITH MARIA RESSA, ONE

OF "TIME" MAGAZINE'S PERSONS OF

THE YEAR.

SHE HAS BEEN TRACKING HOW

ATTACKS IN

FAKE NEWS IS USED TO UNDERMINE

JOURNALISM.

SHE THINKS THAT CANADA SHOULD BE

CONCERNED TOO.

>> Ian: BIT, FIRST, IT WAS

ANOTHER

EMOTIONAL DAY IN A SASKATCHEWAN

COURTROOM.

AND THERE WAS A VERY UNUSUAL

MEETING AS WELL AS FAMILIES

AFFECTED

BY THE HUMBOLDT BUS CRASH

DESCRIBED HOW THEIR LIVES HAD

BEEN FOREVER CHANGED.

THE FIRST TO SPEAK TODAY WERE

THE PARENTS OF DAYNA BRONS, THE

TEAM'S TRAINER AND ATHLETIC

THERAPIST, AND THE ONLY WOMAN ON

THE BUS.

IT WAS HER MOTHER'S DREAM TO

HELP DAYNA TO PLAN A WEDDING.

TODAY SHE SAID, YES, WEE DID

WALK HER DOWN THE AISLE, BUT WE

WEREN'T ESCORTING A BRIDE.

WE WERE ESCORTING A CASKET.

>> WE ARE DEVASTATED, I DON'T

KNOW -- I DON'T KNOW, HOW DO YOU

DESCRIBE A LOSS OF A CHILD?

PEOPLE SAY THEY CAN'T IMAGINE

WHAT WE ARE GOING THROUGH AND I

THINK, NO, YOU CAN'T.

>> Ian: MORE THAN 90 VICTIM

IMPACT STATEMENTS HAVE BEEN READ

OR SUBMITTED.

SUSAN ORMISTON HAS BEEN IN THE

COURTROOM LISTENING TO EACH OF

THOSE HEARTWRENCHING STORIES AND

SHE ALSO SPENT TIME WITH ONE

FAMILY STILL STRUGGLING TO COPE

WITH THEIR LOSS.

>> Reporter: THE WINDSWEPT

CORNER WILL NEVER BE THE SAME.

LIVES FROZEN IN TIME ON

APRIL 6th.

AND 65 KILOMETRES DOWN THE

HIGHWAY COUNTLESS STORIES OF

PAIN AND PROMISE EXTINGUISHED.

>> I HAVE CRIED MORE THIS WEEK,

YOU KNOW, LIKE I HAVE ALL YEAR.

JUST BECAUSE ALL OF THEIR

STORIES ARE

OUR STORIES, RIGHT?

>> Reporter: RAELENE AND RUSS

HEROLD ARE THE PARENTS OF ADAM,

A FARM BOY.

WHO GREW INTO A STRAPPING YOUNG

HOCKEY PLAYER WITH A REAL CHANCE

AT THE NHL.

MAYBE AFTER THAT CAREER TO TAKE

OVER THE FAMILY FARM.

NOT NOW.

>> HE WOULD HAVE BEEN THE FOURTH

GENERATION ON OUR FARM.

YOU KNOW, SO ALL OF THE YEARS

THAT WE'VE WORKED TO MAKE OUR

FARM BETTER, WHO'S TAKING IT

OVER NOW?

>> Reporter: ADAM JOINED THE

BRONCOS JUST FOR THE PLAYOFFS.

HE WAS THE YOUNGEST TO DIE, JUST

16.

THE MEMORY IS FRESH AS

YESTERDAY.

>> I THINK BACK THAT WE JUST

CAME BACK FROM A TRIP.

WE HADN'T BURIED ADAM YET AND I

SAT DOWN IN HIS FAVOURITE CHAIR

IN THE LIVING ROOM AND I TOOK

HIS URN AND I SAT IT ON MY LAP.

I PULLED OUT MY PHONE AND I

SHOWED HIM PICTURES FROM MY

TRIP.

AND I SAID, THIS IS WHERE WE

WERE.

AND I TOLD HIM ALL OF THE PLACES

THAT WE WERE AND THERE WERE

PLACES THAT WE HAD GONE

PREVIOUSLY WITH HIM.

YOU KNOW, I'M HOLDING IN MY LAP

MY 6'2", 200-POUND ATHLETIC SON

IN AN URN, JUST LIKE I HELD HIM

WHEN HE WAS A BABY.

>> Reporter: RUSS AND RAELENE

CAME TO THE COURT TO TELL THE

TRUCK DRIVER HOW THEIR LIVES,

LIKE DOZENS OF OTHERS, WAS

RIPPED APART.

>> UP TO APRIL 6th, LIFE WAS

ROLLING ALONG HAPPY AND, YOU

KNOW, EVERYONE ALWAYS SAYS THE

MILLION DOLLAR FAMILY -- A BOY

AND A GIRL, RIGHT?

EVERYTHING IS CRUISING ALONG.

AND, BOOM, IN A SPLIT SECOND

THINGS CHANGE.

>> Reporter: ARE YOU ANGRY?

>> I'M VERY ANGRY, ABSOLUTELY.

I'M ANGRY AT THE WORLD.

>> Reporter: SO MANY PARENTS

HAVE POINTED QUESTIONS STILL FOR

JASKIRAT SINGH SIDHU, THE TRUCK

DRIVER.

>> WAS HE DAYDREAMING?

WAS HE JUST NOT PAYING

ATTENTION?

OR HE WAS IN A HURRY AND THOUGHT

THAT HE HAD TO KEEP GOING?

LIKE, WHY?

THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT TO KNOW

IS -- WHY?

>> Reporter: MORE THAN A

PODIUM FOR THEIR GRIEF, THEY

WANT CONCRETE CHANGES SO THAT

THEIR CHILDREN DID NOT DIE IN

VAIN.

>> SOMEHOW WE HAVE TO GET THOSE

DRIVERS TRAINED BETTER OR BEING

MORE RESPONSIBLE OR CAUTIOUS --

I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE RIGHT TERM

IS, BUT I THINK THAT FOR ME THAT

WOULD BE A BIG STEP IN THE RIGHT

DIRECTION.

>> SEATBELTS ARE ANOTHER THING.

IN THIS DAY AND AGE WHY DO WE

NOT WEAR A SEATBELT ON A BUS?

>> Reporter: FOR THREE DAYS

THIS COURT IN A GYM HAS HEARD

EXCRUCIATING DETAIL OF LOSS,

REGRETS AND ANGER WITH A

CRUSHING FINALITY.

>> WHAT HAS CHANGED IN MY LIFE

IS SIMPLE -- IT'S NOT THE SAME

AND IT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME.

AND THAT'S TRULY WHAT I NEEDED

HIM TO HEAR.

>> Reporter: RUSS, WHAT DO YOU

WANT FROM THIS COURT THIS WEEK?

>> JUSTICE.

I THINK --

>> Reporter: WHAT DOES THAT

LOOK LIKE TO YOU?

>> WELL, I -- I DON'T DOUBT THAT

HE'S GOT SOME REMORSE.

JUST SAYING "I'M SORRY" DOESN'T

QUITE CUT IT.

IT DOESN'T BRING PEOPLE BACK.

IT DOESN'T CHANGE ALL THE HURT

FOR ALL OF THESE FAMILIES.

SO I THINK THAT THERE HAS TO

BE -- THERE'S GOT TO BE A

CONSEQUENCE FOR YOUR ACTION AND

IT HAS TO BE FAIRLY SIGNIFICANT

IN MY OPINION.

>> Reporter: BUT THEY KNOW

THAT NO SENTENCE WILL MAKE UP

FOR WHAT ENDED HERE.

>> Ian: LET'S BRING SUSAN IN

FROM MELFORT, SASKATCHEWAN WITH

DETAILS, SUSAN, OF AN

EXTRAORDINARY MEETING THAT

HAPPENED TODAY?

>> Reporter: YEAH, REMEMBER

SCOTT THOMAS, THE FATHER OF EVAN

WHO DIED IN THAT CRASH?

WELL, HE HAD A PRIVATE MEETING

TODAY WITH THE DRIVER, JASKIRAT

SINGH SIDHU, IN A MEETING ROOM

JUST OFF THE COURT.

IT WAS 15 MINUTES, VERY

EMOTIONAL.

AND THOMAS SAID THAT HE ASKED

SIDHU DIRECT QUESTIONS BUT THEY

WILL REMAIN PRIVATE.

BUT THEY EACH TALKED.

THERE WERE

SIDHU'S RELATIVES IN THE ROOM

AND THEY CRIED.

AND HE SAID HE FELT MUCH BETTER

FOR DOING THAT.

ADDING THAT IN HIS OPINION THAT

SIDHU'S FAMILY IS ALSO

DEVASTATED.

>> Ian: SUSAN ORMISTON, THANK

YOU.

>> Adrienne: TURNING NOW TO

VENEZUELA'S DEEPENING NATIONAL

CRISIS.

THOUSANDS OF PROTESTERS HIT THE

STREETS AGAIN TODAY WHILE TWO

STARKLY DIFFERENT LEADERS BATTLE

FOR CONTROL OF THE COUNTRY.

RULING PRESIDENT NICOLÁS MADURO

ELLEN MAURO, CBC NEWS,

>> Ian: HERE'S SOME OF THE OTHER

STORIES THAT WE'RE WATCHING

TONIGHT... POLLS ARE CLOSING IN

LESS THAN AN HOUR IN A B.C.

BY-ELECTION THAT COULD TIP THE

PROVINCE'S BALANCE OF POWER.

A WIN FOR THE LIBERALS WOULD

GIVE THE PARTY 43 SEATS.

THAT WOULD BE THE SAME NUMBER AS

THE GOVERNING ALLIANCE BY THE

N.D.P. AND THE GREEN PARTIES.

IT'S WHY THIS IS SEEN AS ONE OF

THE MOST IMPORTANT PROVINCIAL

BY-ELECTIONS IN YEARS.

>>> ALSO IN BRITISH COLUMBIA,

POLICE ARE SEARCHING FOR THE

PERSON WHO SHOT A TRANSIT POLICE

OFFICER ABOUT THREE HOURS AGO IN

A SKYTRAIN STATION IN SURREY.

THE OFFICER SUFFERED SERIOUS

INJURIES BUT NOT

LIFE-THREATENING.

THE STATION HAS BEEN CLOSED.

THE PUBLIC IS BEING TOLD TO

AVOID THE AREA.

>> WE DON'T EVEN HAVE ONE CAN OF

THAT SUPPLY WAS MEANT TO LAST

OVER THE SLOWER MONTHS WHEN

DONATIONS TEND TO TRAIL OFF.

SEVERAL PEOPLE WERE IN THE

WAREHOUSE AT THE TIME BUT NO ONE

WAS HURT.

FIREFIGHTERS ARE STILL LOOKING

COMMITMENT TO PRODUCE

ORIGINAL CONTENT IN CANADA.

BUT HERE'S THE THING -- THAT

CONTENT MAY BE MADE IN CANADA

BUT THAT IS PART OF AN AGE OLD

DEBATE OF WHAT IS CANCON AND WHO

SHOULD PAY FOR IT?

>> PICTURE IT UP.

THE PRODUCER FEELS LUCKY TO HAVE

FOREIGN STREAMING SERVICES FROM

INTERESTED PARTIES, INCLUDING

ONE FROM NETFLIX THAT INSISTS

THAT "ANY NEW REGULATION SHOULD

IN AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE THERE IS

NO CANADIAN CONTENT EMERGENCY.

>> Reporter: IN OTTAWA THIS

MEDIA PROFESSOR THINKS THAT IT

WOULD BE A MISTAKE TO IMPOSE

ADDITIONAL COSTS ON FOREIGN

COMPANIES WHICH COULD BE PASSED

ON TO CONSUMERS.

>> WE KNOW RIGHT NOW THAT CANADA

HAS SOME OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE

INTERNET AND WIRELESS SERVICES

IN THE WORLD AND SO SAYING THAT

WE'RE GOING TO INCREASE FEES ON

THOSE SERVICES I THINK RUNS THE

RISK OF MAKING THOSE SERVICES

LESS AFFORDABLE.

BUT IT BALLOONED TO

$130 MILLION.

THE PRIME MINISTER SAID THAT HE

SERIOUS RCMP MISCONDUCT IN A

DECADE OLD B.C. MURDER

INVESTIGATION.

THE DETAILS ARE COMING TO LIGHT

IN THE WAKE OF GUILTY PLEAS BY

THREE FORMER OFFICERS AND THE

LIFTING OF A PUBLICATION BAN.

IT HAS TO DO WITH THE NOTORIOUS

SURREY SIX GANG MURDERS IN 2007.

THAT'S WHEN MEN WERE SHOT

EXECUTION-STYLE.

TWO OF THE VICTIMS INNOCENT

BYSTANDERS IN.

2011, CHARGES WERE FILED AGAINST

SEVERAL OFFICERS, ONE OF THEM,

THEN SERGEANT DEREK BRASSINGTON

PLED GUILTY TO BREACH OF TRUST.

HE HAD A MONTHS LONG SEXUAL

AFFAIR WITH A KEY WITNESS, THE

EX-GIRLFRIEND OF A GANG MEMBER.

THEIR IDENTITIES ARE PROTECTED

BY COURT ORDER.

WE DON'T KNOW WHAT, IF ANY,

IMPACT THE POLICE MISCONDUCT HAD

ON THE PROSECUTION OF THE

ACCUSED KILLERS, BUT WE DO KNOW

THAT CONTROVERSIALLY THAT MURDER

CHARGES WERE STAYED AGAINST ONE

OF THE ACCUSED.

BRASSINGTON SAID IN COURT

"INSTEAD OF

RESTORING PUBLIC TRUST AND FAITH

IN THE RCMP, I KILLED IT.

I AM SORRY TO EVERYONE IN THIS

COUNTRY THAT LOOKS TO POLICE TO

DO WHAT'S RIGHT."

BRASSINGTON HAS BEEN SENTENCED

TO HOUSE ARREST FOR JUST UNDER

TWO YEARS AND THE TWO OTHER

OFFICERS WILL SPEND THREE MONTHS

UNDER HOUSE ARREST.

>> Adrienne: ANY COUNTRY IN AN

ELECTION YEAR, LIKE CANADA,

NEEDS TO STAND ON GUARD AGAINST

LIES AND RUMOURS CIRCULATING

ONLINE.

YOU KNOW THE ONES -- STORIES

DESIGNED TO DRIVE A WEDGE

BETWEEN COMMUNITIES, MANUFACTURE

DANGERS AND COMING TO A

DEMOCRACY NEAR YOU.

THAT'S PART WHAT IS BEHIND THE

FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENT TODAY FROM

OTTAWA TO TRY TO PROTECT THE

ELECTION.

BUT IT TAKES MORE THAN THAT.

SO WE THOUGHT THAT WE'D CONNECT

WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS SEEN THE

WORST OF THE FAKE NEWS

PHENOMENON AND IS DOING

SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

MARIA RESSA WAS NAMED BY "TIME"

MAGAZINE AS A "GUARDIAN OF THE

TRUTH."

HERE'S WHY... THINGS AREN'T

ALWAYS AS THEY APPEAR.

A FEW WEEKS AGO THESE

JOURNALISTS WERE GIVEN THE

PRESTIGE OF RINGING IN THE NEW

YEAR IN TIMES SQUARE.

FOR FILIPINO MARIA RESSA RIGHT

THERE IT LOOKS LIKE SUCH A HAPPY

HONOUR.

SHE'D BEEN LABELLED AS ONE OF

"TIME" MAGAZINE'S "PERSONS OF

THE YEAR," A BIG DEAL, A

GUARDIAN OF THE TRUTH.

BUT SHE SAID THAT THE MOMENT SHE

FOUND OUT NEARLY MADE HER SICK

TO HER STOMACH.

BECAUSE THAT'S WHO ELSE WAS

CHOSEN, JAMAL KHASHOGGI, WHO WAS

GUNNED DOWN AND THE REUTERS

REPORTERS JAILED IN MYANMAR.

>> I'M THE ONLY ONE OF THE FOUR

THAT WAS BOTH ALIVE AND FREE.

SO I WAS THINKING IS THIS WHERE

WE'RE SUPPOSED TO GO, IS THIS

PREDICTING?

I WENT THROUGH A LOT OF EMOTIONS

AND FEELINGS.

YOU KNOW THAT SINKING FEELING IN

THE PIT OF YOUR STOMACH?

AND THEN I'M LIKE WHAT WILL THAT

MEAN, WILL IT BRING MORE ATTACKS

OR WILL IT HELP US?

NICE TO SEE YOU.

>> Adrienne: SHE MAY SEEM

LIKE A JOURNALISTIC ROCK STAR TO

LOOK AT HOW THOSE IN TORONTO

GREETED HER RECENTLY AT A TALK

ABOUT TRUTH IN THE LIBRARY, OF

COURSE.

BUT BACK HOME IN THE PHILIPPINES

SHE'S IN TROUBLE AND COULD EVEN

GO TO JAIL.

THE NEWS ORGINISATION THAT SHE

RUNS "RATTLER" IS IN THE

SIGHTS OF RODRIGUEZ DUTERTE'S

GOVERNMENT FOR ITS PERSISTENT

REPORTING OF DUTERTE'S BLOODING

DRUG WAR.

TRYING TO HOLD TO ACCOUNT THOSE

KILLED WITH IMPUNITY.

>> [SPEAKING FOREIGN LANGUAGE]

>> Adrienne: THERE'S THAT FAKE

NEWS SLOGAN.

IN THE PHILIPPINES THOSE WORDS

CARRY DANGEROUS WEIGHT.

DUTERTE TRIED TO CLOSE "RATTLER"

AND HIS SUPPORTERS EGGED ON BY

TROLL FARMS, HAVE BEEN TRYING TO

ATTACK RESSA ONLINE AND TRYING

TO

START A MOVEMENT TO JAIL HER.

>> I GET SO MANY THREATS ON

SOCIAL MEDIA, I HAVE NO IDEA

WHEN IT CROSSES INTO THE REAL

WORLD.

>> Adrienne: THE JAIL THREAT

IS REAL.

SHE'S FACING FIVE ARREST

WARRANTS AND CHARGES OF TAX

EVASION AND A POSSIBLE 15-YEAR

SENTENCE.

>> THAT TAX EVASION CHARGE, THE

FOUNDATION OF IT, IS THAT

"RATTLER" IS A DEALER IN

SECURITIES.

THAT'S A DIRECT QUOTE "A DEALER

IN SECURITIES."

>> Adrienne: BUT YOU'RE A NEWS

AGENCY?

>> EXACTLY.

DEALERS IN SECURITIES ARE LIKE

STOCKBROKER AGENCIES.

WE'RE NOT SELLING STOCKS TO

CONSUMERS BUT THEY'RE TREATING

IT THAT WAY.

AND THEY'RE SAYING

BECAUSE WE SOLD STOCKS THAT WE

NEED TO PAY THESE TAXES THAT

COME FROM BEING A DEALER IN

SECURITIES.

THE WHOLE THING IS TO TRY TO

STOP OUR POLITICAL COVERAGE BUT

I, AGAIN, I HOPE THAT THERE'S

ENOUGH MEN AND WOMEN INSIDE OF

THE PHILIPPINE GOVERNMENT IN THE

JUDICIARY SYSTEM THAT WILL STAND

ON PRINCIPLES.

BECAUSE ALLOWING THIS,

WEAPONIZING THE RULE OF LAW,

WEAPONIZING

LAW AGAINST PERCEIVED ENEMIES,

AGAINST JOURNALISTS?

THIS IS A MASSIVE CRACK IN A

PILLAR OF DEMOCRACY.

FROM NOVEMBER 2017 TO 2018 THE

NUMBER OF COUNTRIES THAT --

WHOSE DEMOCRACIES ROLLED BACK,

WENT UP MORE THAN DOUBLE.

>> Adrienne: RESSA THINKS A

LOT ABOUT RISKS TO DEMOCRACIES.

THAT'S THE ESSENCE OF OUR

SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS IN CANADA.

THIS CONVERSATION WE HAD ON

STAGE IN TORONTO PARTLY ABOUT

FACEBOOK'S ROLE IN THIS.

SHE IDENTIFIED EARLY HOW

DISINFORMATION NETWORKS USE

FACEBOOK, FINDING PARALLELS IN

OF ALL PLACES HOW TERROR

NETWORKS USE SOCIAL MEDIA.

SHE SHOWED MARK ZUCKERBERG WHAT

WAS HAPPENING AND HOW AND WHO

WAS BEHIND IT, ON HOW WHAT WAS

HAPPENING IN THE PHILIPPINES

COULD HAPPEN AROUND THE WORLD.

SHE WANTED HIM TO SHUT THEM DOWN

AND AT FIRST HE DID NOTHING.

A LOT OF PEOPLE DREAM ABOUT

WALKING UP TO MARK ZUCKERBERG D.

SHE WANTED HIM TO SHUT THEM DOWN

A LOT OF PEOPLE DREAM ABOUT

WALKING UP TO MARK ZUCKERBERG

>> I WENT TO FACEBOOK IN AUGUST

OF 2016 BECAUSE WE GOT THE DATA

I SAID, MARK, YOU HAVE TO COME

LAUGH THOUGH I'M GUESSING.

HER MESSAGE DIDN'T SINK IN AND

AS "RATTLER" KEPT REPORTING, THE

DAMAGE DONE TO SOCIETIES WHEN

THEY'RE DIVIDED BY LIES AND

SOMEHOW SHE THINKS THAT SHE NOW

UNDERSTANDS.

>> A MAN NAMED NATHANIEL WAS

HIRED BY FACEBOOK.

HE USED TO HEAD COUNTERTERRORISM

FOR THE WHITE HOUSE.

AND TO LOOK AT THESE NETWORKS

THROUGH COUNTERTERRORISM LENSES

IS THE FIRST STEP I THINK TO

TAKING THEM DOWN.

AND THEY BUILT A TEAM, THEY'RE

BUILDING TEAMS NOW TO DO THAT.

YOU KNOW, IT'S ENLIGHTENED

SELF-INTEREST.

IF THEY DON'T DO THIS PEOPLE

WILL DROP -- THEY GOT PUMMELLED

LAST YEAR AND I HOPE THEY HAVE

LEARNED THEIR LESSON.

>> Adrienne: MAYBE.

ARE THERE LESSONS FOR CANADA IN

AN

ELECTION YEAR?

THE EARLY SIGNS OF THE RUSSIAN

NETWORKS ARE INTERESTED IN THE

CONVERSATION HERE.

>> CANADA IS A VERY MUCH A

MELTING POT OF DIFFERENT

CULTURES.

WHEN THIS KIND OF EMOTION IS

UNLEASHED IT'S HARD TO LET

RATIONAL MINDS PREVAIL.

>> Adrienne: DO YOU THINK THAT

CANADA IS RIPE FOR THE TAKING BY

THESE -- THESE DISINFORMATION

NETWORKS?

>> I THINK THAT YOU SHOULDN'T BE

COMPLACENT.

THIS STUFF ON SOCIAL MEDIA

PUSHES POPULISM TO THE NTH

DEGREE BECAUSE IT FUELS YOUR

FEARS AND IT POUNDS ON FRACTURE

LINES OF SOCIETIES.

WHEN YOU SEE THAT'S HAPPENING,

WHO IS BEHIND IT, WHERE IS IT

COMING FROM?

IS IT SOCIAL MEDIA DRIVEN?

YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND A

NETWORK BEHIND THAT.

>> Adrienne: SHE'S STILL

RESEARCHING AND SHARING THE

TOOLS FOR HOW TO DO IT, BUT TIME

IS TICKING.

MARIA RESSA HAD TO GET COURT

PERMISSION TO COME HERE AND

KNOWS AFTER HER SHORT TRIP THAT

SHE'S BACK INTO THE FIRE IN THE

PHILIPPINES.

WHY NOT JUST NEVER GO BACK?

SHE HAS AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP.

>> BUT I'M ALSO A FILIPINO.

AND IT'S -- THIS IS WHY WE

BECAME JOURNALISTS IN THE FIRST

PLACE, RIGHT?

AND WHEN YOU'RE A JOURNALIST IN

GOOD TIMES IT'S EASY TO LIVE BY

THOSE PRINCIPLES, BY THE

MISSION.

THIS IS A TIME WHEN IT MATTERS.

SO I HAVE NO CHOICE.

>> Adrienne: THE TEST IN THE

COURTS IS COMING SOON.

THE TEST IN DEMOCRACIES AROUND

THE WORLD CHIPPED AWAY AT BY

GEOPOLITICAL FORCES TRYING TO

MANIPULATE US ALL IS HAPPENING

EVERY SINGLE MOMENT.

ANOTHER TEST?

INDIA.

IT IS THE WORLD'S LARGEST

DEMOCRACY, AND LIKE US, IN AN

ELECTION YEAR.

BUT IN INDIA FAKE NEWS AND

FALSEHOODS HAVE KILLED PEOPLE.

SO THE GOVERNMENT IS TAKING A

TOUGHER APPROACH, PROPOSING THE

ILLEGAL.

BUT TONIGHT WE'RE ASKING "CAN A

WAS TAKEN FROM A PUBLIC SERVICE

ANNOUNCEMENT AGAINST CHILD

KIDNAPPING.

BUT THE LIES SOARED ANYWAY AND

INNOCENT PEOPLE WERE KILLED.

OTHER RUMOURS LEFT PEOPLE BEATEN

AND FAMILIES MOURNING.

THOSE ATTACKS SCARED THE INDIAN

GOVERNMENT INTO ACTING TO DEAL

WITH THE DANGERS.

THERE'S NOW A DRAFT LAW BANNING

INFORMATION THAT, QUOTE

"DECEIVES OR MISLEADS, IS

GROSSLY OFFENSIVE OR MENACING IN

NATURE."

AND PLATFORMS LIKE WHATSAPP ARE

ORDERED TO TAKE DOWN THE LIES.

>> IT'S A KIND OF A KNEE JERK

REACTION TO A SPATE OF KILLINGS

AND VIOLENCE THAT WERE CREATED

BY RUMOURS FED ON WHATSAPP.

>> Reporter: SHE WORRIES THAT

THE DRAFT LAW VIOLATES THE

RIGHTS TO PRIVACY AND FREEDOM OF

SPEECH.

THE LAW ASKS WHATSAPP TO BREAK

ITS ENCRYPTION, THE VERY REASON

THAT SO MANY PEOPLE USE IT.

>> SO THE

>> SO THE RULES REQUIRE THAT ALL

SERVICES SELECT AND STORE

INFORMATION ABOUT WHO IS SENDING

MESSAGES TO WHOM AND IF THE

GOVERNMENT ASKS FOR IT, THEY

SURRENDER THIS INFORMATION.

>> Adrienne: THE DRAFT LAW IS

SO AGGRESSIVE THAT COMPANIES

LIKE NETFLIX WORRY ABOUT

LEGISLATION LIMITING THEIR

CONTENT TOO.

THEY'RE PREEMPTING THAT,

ANNOUNCING A PLAN TO

SELF-REGULATE.

AND EVEN THAT WORRIES THE

CRITICS.

>> IT'S GOING TO LEAD USERS TO

ONE THING, SHOULD I POST THIS

OR NOT BOTHER BECAUSE I DON'T

WANT TO GET BANNED OR HAVE MY

CONTENT REMOVED.

SO WHAT THIS MEANS EVENTUALLY IS

A CHILLING EFFECT ON THE FREEDOM

OF SPEECH OF USERS.

>> Adrienne: MAYBE THERE'S

ANOTHER WAY.

>> SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT BE

DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT?

YES, IT SHOULD BE.

>> Adrienne: AS A FAKE NEWS

DEBUNKER, HE SAYS THAT THE

GOVERNMENT SHOULD CONCENTRATE ON

SCHOOLING, NOT A LEGAL HAMMER.

>> IT SHOULD FOCUS ON EDUCATION

AWARENESS AT THE LEVEL OF LAW

ENFORCEMENT AND CITIZEN

ENGAGEMENT AND CHILDREN IN

SCHOOLS.

TO MAKE PEOPLE AWARE OF WHAT

THEY'RE LOOKING AT IS SOMETHING

THAT YOU SHOULD BE SKEPTICAL OF.

>> Adrienne: EDUCATION HELPS

BECAUSE WHEN POLICE STARTED TO

EXPLAIN TO PEOPLE THAT THOSE

KIDNAPPING RUMOURS ON WHATSAPP

WERE LIES, THOSE KILLINGS

STOPPED.

WHAT ALSO HELPED STOP THEM?

A DECISION BY WHATSAPP TO LIMIT

THE NUMBER OF TIMES

THAT A MESSAGE CAN BE FORWARDED.

THAT'S A TECHNICAL TWEAK.

BUT THIS IS THE ERA LOOKING FOR

A BALANCE BETWEEN LAW, LITERACY

AND TECHNOLOGY TO ENSURE LIES

DON'T SPREAD AND LIES DON'T

KILL.

SO HOW TO PRESERVE DEMOCRACY IN

AN AGE OF MISINFORMATION?

THAT'S JUST ONE OF THE QUESTIONS

THAT WE'LL TACKLE IN THE LEAD-UP

TO THIS FALL'S FEDERAL ELECTION.

CBC NEWS AND "THE NATIONAL" WILL

BE TAKING YOU DEEPER INTO THE

ISSUES

AS CANADA VOTES.

>> Andrew: FASCINATING AND

IMPORTANT STUFF.

>>> OKAY NEXT ON "THE

NATIONAL"... ONE OF THE MOST

MEMORABLE SCENES IN POP HISTORY.

DAVID COMMON TAKES US INSIDE A

SENIORS' HOME THAT IS EMBRACING

PATIENTS RETAIN SOME FREEDOM.

SYLVIA.

SHE'S OFF EXERCISING HER

IN SOME HOMES THEY'D JUST SAY IF

YOU'RE AT RISK OF FALLING --

>> OH, NO, WE LET OUR RESIDENTS

LIVE AT RISK.

>> Reporter: WHAT DOES THAT

MEAN "LIVE AT RISK?"

LIVE.

LIKE, WE CAN'T KEEP THEM FROM

INJURY, YOU KNOW, BUT AT LEAST

THEY'RE LIVING THEIR LIFE AND

CBC NEWS, LONDON.

>> Andrew: OKAY, NEXT ON "THE

NATIONAL"... WE'RE GOING TO TAKE

A TURN.

THE FORMER ASSISTANT COACH FOR

THE HUMBOLDT BRONCOS READ HIS

VICTIM IMPACT STATEMENT TODAY.

HE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE

ON THE SCENE OF THE CRASH AND

WE'RE GOING TO BE TURNING OUR

"MOMENT" OVER TO HIM TONIGHT.

>> YOU ARE BEARING THE

UNBEARABLE.

WE ALL ARE.

THAT IS THE ROOT OF THE DEEPEST

COMPASSION.

WE HAVE BEEN TURNED INTO

INSTRUMENTS OF COMPASSION.

THIS IS A VERY FIERCE LESSON.

(*)

>> Andrew: BUD WAS THE

HUMBOLDT BRONCOS ASSISTANT COACH

WHO DID NOT DIE IN THE

BUS CRASH.

HE WAS FOLLOWING BEHIND IN HIS

OWN CAR AND HE WAS ONE OF THE

FIRST PEOPLE ON THE SCENE.

AT FIRST HE COULDN'T COMPREHEND

THE ENORMITY OF WHAT HAPPENED

BUT IT SOON BECAME CLEAR.

AND IN THE DAYS FOLLOWING THE

CRASH BEAUDRY'S JOB WAS TO HELP

TO

IDENTIFY THE VICTIMS.

TODAY HIS VICTIM IMPACT

STATEMENT WAS ONE OF THE FINAL

ONES READ IN COURT.

HE SHARED A MEMORY ABOUT EACH

FRIEND AND PLAYER HE IDENTIFIED.

THERE ARE NO CAMERAS IN THAT

TEMPORARY COURTROOM BUT BEAUDRY

AGREED TO READ HIS STATEMENT

AGAIN FOR US.

AND THAT IS OUR "MOMENT."

>> HAVING TO DO THIS ENORMOUS

TASK DIDN'T SEEM TO AFFECT ME AT

THE TIME.

I FELT LIKE I WAS GETTING A LAST

CHANCE TO HELP OR COACH MY

PLAYERS, REMEMBERING EACH ONE,

AND HUNTS NOT UNDERSTANDING

VIDEO,

AND HELPING SCHATZI TO WORK ON

HIS HIGHLIGHT PACKAGE FOR

COLLEGE.

AND TALKING ABOUT NUTRITION WITH

WACK AT THE GROCERY STORE AND

AND SEEING TOB PRACTISE HIS

LITTER EAACY SKILLS AT THE

CREDIT OUTION.

AND SEEING ADAM SKATE WITH THE

RAIDERS FOR THE FIRST TIME.

JOEY TELLING ME ABOUT HIS

GRANDPA BEING HIS BIGGEST FAN.

AND LUKAN TRYING TO STOP ME FOR

PAYING FOR SOMETHING AFTER A

FIRST BUS TRIP.

AND SEEING BROD COMING THROUGH

THE COACH'S OFFICE DOOR ON HOME

GAMES AND TOMMY'S FACE WHEN HE

TOLD ME HOW HE JUMPED OUT OF THE

WAY OF A PUCK TO SAVE HIMSELF

INSTEAD OF OUR TEAM COMPUTER.

AND JACOB OPENING UP TO ME AND

ASKING FOR HELP ON THE MENTAL

SIDE OF THE GAME AFTER AN

INJURY.

AND GLEN ALWAYS WELCOMING US.

AND TYLER AND I BOTH NOT WANTING

TO ADMIT THAT WE WERE ENJOYING

WATCHING A PLAYER DOCUMENTARY IN

FLIN FLON.

AND SEEING MARK TEACHING AT THE

WHITEBOARD AND LOOKING BACK AT

US AFTER WITH A HUGE GRIN.

AND SEEING ALL OF THE CLASSIC

DARCYISMS.

I HAVE TO TELL YOU, MR. SIDHU, I

FORGIVE YOU.

DON'T LET YOUR LIFE TO BE

WASTED.

FROM TODAY ON DO AS MUCH GOOD AS

YOU POSSIBLY CAN GOING FORWARD,

BEING COMPASSIONATE, LOVE, AND,

MOST IMPORTANTLY, FORGIVE OTHERS

AS YOU HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN.

>> Andrew: SO THAT WAS JUST A

PART OF WHAT CHRIS SAID IN HIS

VICTIM IMPACT STATEMENT.

THERE'S MORE TO HIS STORY.

FOR ONE, THAT HE FEELS LIKE HE

MAY HAVE LOST THE DESIRE TO

COACH.

YOU KNOW, HE TRIED GETTING BACK

INTO THE GAME IN THAT COACHING

CAPACITY.

HE WAS ABLE TO DO IT FOR 13

GAMES AND THEN DECIDED THAT HE

COULDN'T DO IT ANYMORE.

SO THAT HE HAS THE CAPACITY FOR

FORGIVENESS IS REALLY SOMETHING.

>> Adrienne: HIS OPENNESS, WE

ARE ALL GRATEFUL FOR HIS

OPENNESS.

I THINK THAT WE ARE ALL LEARNING

FROM THIS.

AND ONE THING THAT CHRIS SAID IS

THAT HE IS LEARNING ABOUT TRAUMA

AND HOW TO DEAL WITH IT AND HOW

TO GET PAST IT AND EMPHASIZING

THAT IT'S A VERY LONG PATH.

>> Ian: I THINK WE'RE LEARNING A

LOT TOO, RIGHT?

SOME PEOPLE HAVE SADLY BEEN

THROUGH SOME OF THAT KIND OF

TRAUMA BUT FOR THOSE OF US THAT

HAVEN'T WE ARE SEEING THESE

APPROACHES AND SOME ARE

FORGIVING AND SOME NOT READY TO

FORGIVE BUT ALL PEOPLE HAVE BEEN

THOUGHTFUL AND NOT ANY UGLINESS

THAT WE HAVE SEEN AT ALL.

IT'S REMARKABLE.

THAT IS "THE NATIONAL" FOR

JANUARY 30th.

GOODNIGHT.

>> Andrew: GOODNIGHT.
