how to pick a flight school it can be one of the most stressful part of how to

become a pilot in this video I'm gonna cover 5 points you should consider

when you're choosing your flight school coming up hey 74 crew welcome

back if you don't know me my name is Kelsey I'm a 747 pilot my channel 74

gear is all about aviation so whether you're a pilot or an aviation enthusiast

consider subscribe in this video I'm gonna cover the five main things you

should consider when you're choosing your flight school let's get into it if

you haven't seen the video that led up to this where I talked about the two

different types of flight schools and I'll put that in the link up here it's

important that you watch that first if you've already watched that I just want

you to know I spoke to several of my friends at different stages in their

careers that were flying charters and that at the airlines to help put this

list together because it's a very complex subject every pilot has

different situations as far as what school is the best fit for them kind of

like a college your friend may say hey this college is the best fit for me and

you might think well that doesn't work for me this is a better deal for me

so in this video I'm going to cover the five main topics to consider so that way

you can choose what's best for you first is location and this is really important

if speed is a factor if you're planning to get do flights go as quickly as

possible I mean you're not going through a

aviation university and doing a 141 program then speed may be a factor of

how quickly you can finish flight school so location becomes important because if

you can't fly you can't learn how to fly you're smart so then the location of

where you're doing your flight training is really important some examples of

really good areas to do flight training where the weather is gonna be good most of

the year gonna be Southern California Arizona Texas Florida has a lot of flight

schools has some thunderstorms in the summer time but for the most part of the

year it's clear so though there's some great locations of where you can

generally find good weather and that's why you find a lot of flight schools

along the southern part of the u.s. some areas that wouldn't be great would be

places like upstate New York or maybe Seattle or Portland where there's a lot

more clouds and rainy weather that will be fine as you get later on through

flight school but especially for your initial stages when you're learning

maneuvers and things like that you're not gonna be able to go out and fly in that

weather again if the speed is important than location is important if speed is

not a factor then it doesn't really matter

second is budget obviously if you're gonna go to flight school it's gonna

cost you some money anyway you could lend me some money maybe it's a million

dollars budget is a factor the things you want to look at and consider are

what types of planes do they have and how much do they rent for what is the

cost of a CFI which is your certified flight instructor who's gonna be helping

you to fly what is the cost of ground school do they charge for ground school

and reason that's important for example when I did my private pilot license they

didn't charge for ground school which was a happy surprise I didn't even know

that I should be asking about that I did my private pilot license at a part 61

school my instructor Sean didn't charge me for ground school maybe it was

because we were such good friends I don't know but he didn't charge anything

for that and the school didn't charge anything for that it's important to find

out what do they charge for ground school because that may or may not be a

factor when you're weighing everything out another point to consider when

you're looking at budget is are you military are you planning to use your GI

Bill towards your flight school at this time I believe only 141 schools allow

you to use your GI Bill so if you're planning to use your GI Bill towards

paying for your flight school I believe right now it's only 141 that's taking

that money so that's definitely something you need to consider and if

you're leaving where you're living right now to go out of state or out of city to

do your flight school housing is housing cheap or is it expensive are you gonna

need a car to get to and from flight school so those are all things to factor

in when you're looking at your budget the third thing to consider is your

ability to fly you're gonna want to look at what is the ratio between the flight

instructors and the students a bad example would be if you had a flight

school with one instructor and for every one instructor you had 30 to 40

full-time students it's gonna be really hard everyone's gonna be fighting for

the attention of the flight instructor to have him or her take you up and work

on your flight training so that is one thing to consider the other thing to

consider is how many planes do they have if that flight school only has two

planes and they have 30 students so one plane gets broken or goes into

maintenance then everybody's gonna be fighting to get on that other plane to

learn how to fly you need to fly you sat down on Friday it's just important to

weigh out what is your ability to fly at that flight school when you're weighing

out flight schools so the fourth step is go and kick the tires and what I mean

by that is go out and check out some of these flight schools like when you pick

a college it's good to go there and see for yourself

what is it like talk to the flight instructors talk to the students just

walk around and take a tour and see what it looks like look at the aircraft do

the aircraft look like they're completely beat up or they look like

they're okay to fly I'll tell you my very first plane that I flew was a

Cessna 172 and it was older than me it was okay it was in ok shape but the guy

who was running the flights who was the mechanics so I knew that the plane

itself was in great shape it was just the wear and tear of it it looked a

little bit old unless you want to pay a lot of money and that's what it's gonna

be your planes are gonna be older look at the plane but don't just look at the

aesthetics of it look to see what the maintenance of it looks like talk to the

maintenance guys it they'll let you just get an idea of how are they being taken

care of if you can do a demo flight go do a demo flight a demo flight is

usually an introductory flight and they'll take you around and either show

you some sights of the city or maybe give you a couple traffic patterns and

give you a taste of what it's like to fly and if you do a demo flight it's

important that you log that time meaning you get the flight instructors name you

get the tail number you get the total flight times because if you do decide to

pursue aviation as a career or you just want to go get your private pilot

license that flight time that you log during that introductory flight that is

countable towards your license so it's important to write all that set down

even if you don't have a logbook make a note of it somewhere so that way you can

log that time now keep in mind that you are the customer so if the flight

instructor you go up with on your demo fight you don't like him or your flight

instructor that while you're at that school you don't like them you are the

customer so you are able to change your flight instructor I had a lot of

different directors I really only had one that I didn't get along with and I

ended up using another guy at a different school for the vast majority

of that training whenever possible both of them were busy so I just used the guy

didn't like that much the least amount that I could but it's important to

remember you are the customer so keep that in mind if you don't like your

instructor you can get another one don't feel obligated if you don't feel that

you're learning from them go to another instructor and look up the reviews

online keep in mind that in some cases the reviews are gonna be from grumpy

people because they didn't get what it was that they wanted realize that pilots

are whiners we are big cry-baby so if you see 10 good reviews

and one bad review of guys saying I couldn't get the flight time that I want

to just realize and take it with a grain of salt it is good to do your research

on the flight schools and see what people are saying and see what the

people there when you're out doing your tour see what the pilots that are there

that are in flight school talk with them or go have lunch with them whatever get

a taste of what that school is like before you get into their program the

fifth thing to consider is payment options every flight schools got

different payment options of how they want you to pay in some places if you

pay for a bunch of flight training at one time you might get a discount other

places they'll have financing options to help you pay for everything that's the

last thing to consider when you're weighing out options and that's gonna be

dependent upon you and your family as far as what you can afford and what you

really need if that's a factor and that's definitely something to consider

I get a lot of comments from people and a lot of messages on DMS people sending

me on Instagram what's the best flight school first let me tell you this if you

send me a DM asking me about what your best flight school is I'm gonna tell you

to leave a comment here in the YouTube video save your time leave me a comment

if you have a question about anything that you want to know it's so much

easier for me to reply to a comment on here but if you're looking for the best

flight school in Dallas use these points that I talked about here make a list of

the questions that you have and then make a list of the schools you'd be

interested in call them up or send them an email and start talking to them ask

them hey I got a couple questions you have a minute and then just start asking

all the questions that you have make a list and do your research because every

flight school is different there's gonna be a flight tool that I could say hey

this is the best flight school in Dallas because I really had a great experience

there and you might say hell no I don't want to go that bye tool because X Y & Z

do your own research that's what Google is for you have a

cellphone I'm sure do your research and do your homework and figure out what is

the best one for you and another question that I get from people is how

much does flight school cost well it's different every flight school is

different and what flight tool cost two years ago and what it costs a day is

different you're gonna have to do some of your own legwork make a list call

them find out what it is that they're charging and then ask them hey what's

the average amount of time that guys need at this school to get your private

or to get your commercial if you know what it costs per hour for flight

instruction and you know how many hours you need because you've watched that

other video that I talked about you're gonna know how many

hours you're gonna need to complete you can do the math of how much it's gonna

cost to go to flight school so you're gonna have to do some legwork but then

you'll be able to sit down and do some math and weigh out everything and pick

the best option for you all right that's everything that I have on flight

school and pilot training share this video with any of your friends that are

looking or have questions about going to flight schools if you like this video

give it a thumbs up and hit the subscribe button in the comment section

below let me know where you're planning to do your flight training I look

forward to hearing from you until then keep the blue side up

you

Flutter for the Impatient - 9 - Track App Lifecycle (Check Permission on Resume) - Duration: 2:49.

We have the Flutter application asks for location permission at runtime.

If the user allows the permission.

But later the user switches to the system settings.

Click on our application.

And decides to turn off the location permission.

What happens when we switch back to our application?

It still shows the permission is granted.

This is because we only check the permission in initState, or at the permission is requested.

How can we check the permission when the application becomes active?

This can be done by observing the application lifecycle events.

To do that extends from WidgetsBindingObserver.

What we want to do is in addition to check the permission in the initState, we also want

to check the permission whenever the application lifecycle state is changed.

Specifically when the application is resumed.

Let's run the application again.

Now it shows the correct permission status, which is denied.

This is because we check the permission status in the initState.

Let's change the permission outside the application.

Switch to granted.

Let's see what would happen.

OK, the status is refreshed.

Six men arrested for Ki11ing woman, four children for suspected witchcraft in Indian village - Duration: 1:57.

Six men arrested for Ki11ing woman, four children for suspected witchcraft in Indian village

Five men all from the same family along with a witch doctor broke into Mandri Mundas home in the state of Odisha on January 24 and used a crowbar to kill her and her children, aged 4, 7, 12 and 10 months, said Sushant Das, inspector at the Koida police station.

They alleged the woman had been practicing black magic and had cast a spell on their own family, which caused a 12 year old girl to fall ill and die in December.

"The family had gone to a witch doctor, Budhram Munda. He said there is a witch in the village and that is why she the daughter had died," said Das.

Witch doctors are seen by believers as having powers to protect others against witchcraft.

The family had confronted the victim earlier and decided to take action after another family member fell ill.

The victims husband called the police after arriving home the next day to find his family missing and signs of violence inside the home.

A blood trail led police to a well where the accused had dumped the bodies. They arrested the five men and the witch doctor who made the initial claims against the victim.

The persecution of women accused of witchcraft is especially common in rural areas in the eastern Indian states of Odisha and Jharkhand. According to the National Crime Records Bureau, a total of 134 people were killed in 2016 on suspicion of witchcraft.

In 2013 the Odisha state government passed a law which made accusations of witchcraft and harassment a criminal offense punishable by up to three years in prison.

Police are holding the six men on suspicion of murder, criminal conspiracy and witch hunting. Formal charges have yet to be made.

Digitizing Financial Data Can Unlock Capital for the Next Billion | SDG #1 - Duration: 1:34.

I'm Nicole Van Der Tuin. I'm the co-founder and CEO of First Access.

Access to capital is really critical for all sorts of opportunities in life. It's

helpful for buying a vehicle, owning a home, financing a small business,

financing an education, and it's quite scarce and quite expensive in so many

places. First Access is a software platform that helps financial

institutions and developing countries reach their customers faster. We have a

software platform that can be used by all sorts of lenders, anybody who's

offering credit. They can essentially digitize their operations, and help reach

customers faster. There are a lot of things that can be automated once you

start to collect a lot of your customer data and your operational data in one

place. There are tons of patterns among your customer base, and among your staff,

and your operations that once you see them, are very easy to recognize and say,

"You know, these customers are reliably very low-risk, let's just automate their

approvals when they apply for a loan so that they don't have to wait days, or

even weeks, to get approved." Most of our operations are in Tanzania, Nigeria,

Rwanda, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Mozambique, and we've actually helped save borrowers

over 332 years of wait time.

Michael Bloomberg says 2020 presidential rival Kamala Harris Medicare for all would bankrupt US Da - Duration: 7:44.

Michael Bloomberg says 2020 presidential rival Kamala Harris Medicare for all would bankrupt US Da

Michael Bloomberg has claimed  Sen. Kamala Harris plan to abolish private health insurance in favor of Medicare for all would bankrupt the country.

The former mayor who is considering running for the Democratic presidential nomination rejected the idea endorsed by his 2020 rival, which is gaining traction in the party.

I think you could never afford that. Youre talking about trillions of dollars, Mr Bloomberg said during a political swing in New Hampshire, where the nations first primary will be held next year.

Michael Bloomberg pictured at a political swing in New Hampshire yesterday has claimed abolishing private health insurance in favor of Medicare for all would bankrupt the country

The former New York City mayor whos considering running for the 2020 presidential election said the move would cost trillions of dollars. He proposed providing it only to those currently uninsured

I think you can have "Medicare for all" for people that are uncovered, but to replace the entire private system where companies provide health care for their employees would bankrupt us for a very long time.

While Bloomberg is considering running on a centrist position, Harris carved out a liberal platform on Monday night, telling an audience of Iowa Democrats that the United States should eliminate all private plans and move everyone to a single payer system.

We need to have Medicare for all. Thats just the bottom line, Harris said during a CNN town hall event, declaring that she feels very strongly about it.

The idea is that everyone gets access to medical care, and you dont have to go through the process of going through an insurance company, having them give you approval, going through the paperwork, all of the delay that may require, she explained, concluding that private insurers should not be part of the system.

Senator Kamala Harris of California made her first town hall appearance as a Democratic presidential candidate on Monday, saying she wants to abolish private health insurance

Harris spoke with reporters at Drake University on Monday night after the town hall event, hosted by CNNs Jake Tapper

Lets eliminate all of that. Lets move on, said Harris.

Republicans were quick to mock what they typically call socialized medicine, something that has become more mainstream in the Democratic party since the early part of the 2016 presidential campaign cycle.

GOP spokesman Michael Ahrens tweeted a dig at Harris that also doubled as a jab at former president Barack Obamas frequent promises about his namesake health law.

Dems in 2009: If you like your plan, you can keep it, Ahrens mocked. Dems in 2019: If you like your plan, were eliminating it.

Harris is advocating a Medicare for all platform that would put government agencies in charge of health coverage; thats an approach that goes further than the Obamacare system, and had Bernie Sanders as its main advocate in 2016

Harris also defended other positions she took as Californias attorney general that are unpopular with some Democrats, saying at the Drake University event in Des Moines that they reflected her duty as the states top law enforcement officer.

CNN anchor Jake Tapper asked her about prosecuting death penalty cases, and about legislation requiring her office to investigate all fatal police related shootings.

Harris, who was attorney general from 2011 until she became a U.S. senator in 2017, said she enforced the death penalty despite opposing it.

WHO PAYS AND HOW

Each of the 13 provincial or territorial governments provides insurance called Medicare which can be used universally, with doctors or other providers billing the government insurance scheme for treatment. Almost all hospitals are public bodies paid for out of taxation, with almost all care delivered in them paid for from general taxation. Medicare does not cover prescription drugs, dentistry, ambulance costs and long term care and private health insurance is generally used to pay for them.

BY NUMBERS  2017

Health care spending per capita: dollar 4,826

Percentage of GDP spent on healthcare: 10.5 percent

Percentage of healthcare spending by government: 70.5 percent

Life expectancy: 81.9

Infant mortality deaths per thousands before age of one : 4.5

WHAT SUPPORTERS SAY

Income is not a factor in the quality of treatment; prescription drugs costs are far lower than in the U.S.; user fees are minimal

WHAT CRITICS SAY

Wait times are used to ration care; mental health care is badly underfunded; innovation is not rewarded; other countries have more cost effective systems

UNITED KINGDOM

WHO PAYS AND HOW: National Health Service NHS is free at the point of access throughout the UK for primary, hospital and outpatient care. It is funded from general taxation and regulated by the UK government. Prescription drugs are covered with a copay of dollar 11.50 in England and are free in the rest of the UK; other co pays are rare. Subsidized dental care is available but supply is less than demand. Private health insurance or paying out of pocket can be used to pay for non emergency care and elective procedures. Long term care is broadly not covered by the NHS.

BY NUMBERS 2017

Health care spending per capita: dollar 4,246

Percentage of GDP spent on healthcare: 9.7 percent

Percentage of healthcare spending by government: 79.4 percent

Life expectancy: 80.8

Infant mortality deaths per thousands before age of one : 4.3

WHAT SUPPORTERS SAY

UK: Income is not a factor in the quality of treatment; healthcare is not a cost factor for businesses; the NHS has huge popular support

WHAT CRITICS SAY

UK: Care is rationed by waiting time and shortages; health outcomes vary radically from area to area; innovation in treatment is not incentived; some patients abuse the system because they are financially engaged in it; political rather than rational decisions affect the quality and availability of care; the current system is going to be unable to cope with growing demand due to an aging population

WHO PAYS AND HOW

Hospitals, doctors and other healthcare providers bill insurance companies or providers for care of those with insurance. Private insurance by employers covers almost 50 per cent of Americans. Those over 65 are insured additionally through Medicare which is a combination of federal and state spending. Medicaid provides insurance for some on low incomes or with limited resources, 76 million in 2016. Most healthcare comes with co payments or deductibles regardless of insurance provision. Provision varies from state to state. Long term care is covered for some by Medicaid. Military and veterans, and their dependents, have their own free at point of access healthcare funded from general federal taxation.

BY THE NUMBERS 2017

Health care spending per capita: dollar 10,224

Percentage of GDP spent on healthcare: 17.3 percent

Percentage of all healthcare spending by government: 64.7 percent

Life expectancy: 80.0

Infant mortality:   deaths per 1,000 before age one: 5.8

WHAT SUPPORTERS SAY

More effective treatments are incentived by letting people choose where they are treated; innovation is financially rewarded for individuals and institutions; U.S. hospitals pull in the best talent from around the world and draw in foreign cash for treatment

WHAT CRITICS SAY

Millions live without insurance; millions more cannot afford co pays for treatment or drugs; healthcare costs are a leading cause of personal bankruptcy; health outcomes are closely linked to income; healthcare is a high cost for private companies; government is already spending more than other advanced countries per capita with less to show for it

Free Tax Prep for NYCHA residents and Section 8 voucher holders. Take advantage of it today! - Duration: 1:43.

I first heard about the Virtual Vita in 2017 where I first took advantage of it.

Well, the process to me was very easy.

They tell you to bring in your documents, like, the basics: your W-2s, your State IDs, and

whoever you're claiming.

Those type of documents.

And once that part is done, they call you in, you sign off and everything is fine.

I did it last year and it was so good I did it AGAIN this year!

This year is even better.

It's even easier than last year because everything was there in place already.

You know, so it was good.

When I was working a full-time job in a nursing home I was paying hundreds of dollars.

This year was great!

It was better than last year because I got my refund a little faster.

My grandson.

he got a new car seat.

My daughter, I bought a few little things for her that she needed as well.

Even myself.

Personal items.

The whole process was nice.

Easy!

And I'll recommend it.

I'll do it again.

When it comes to denying the right to vote and how these laws came into place to begin

with it goes back to the original sin of this country of slavery.

And keep in mind that.

Slavery was abolished during the first decade or 2 after slavery was abolished you side

dramatic number after Americans elected to the house of representatives to the Senate

to their local assemblies and their local city council as someone that worked as a deputy

public defender for 11 years I always try to get my clients when they got released what

was from jail for present to get back into society to contribute to get to know their

community and some of my elections having former clients volunteer and yes some of them

even though they're more informed on the issues and care more about their community by evidence

of the time and interest they put into it we're not able to vote.

And that's unacceptable.

The removal of the right to vote is not based on an interest in public safety but in a punitive

justice belief system that intentionally attempts to rob marginalized people of our political

power for the last 55 years I've been successfully on.

Crime free, employed a college graduate.

The committee organizes.

Volunteers and a tax paying citizens.

And yet I cannot vote I'm Citizen enough to tax.

but I am not a citizen enough to vote I know that we're gonna see this through I'm gonna

continue to work and until Every barrier to voting is absolutely removed and this is absolutely

essential part thank you.

US NEWS | Opinion The Medicare for All trap The New York Times - Duration: 3:21.

US NEWS | Opinion The Medicare for All trap The New York Times

Most issues will strongly favor the Democrats in 2020. Taking away peoples health insurance is an exception.

Opinion Columnist

This article is part of David Leonhardts newsletter. You can to receive it each weekday.

A couple of weeks ago, one of the countrys most respected health care pollsters — Kaiser Family Foundation — conducted a survey on Medicare for All. And looked great for advocates of the idea, like Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris.

Some 56 percent of respondents said they favored a national plan called Medicare for All in which all Americans would get their insurance through a single government plan. A large majority of Democrats backed the idea. Almost a quarter of Republicans did, too.

The polls details, however, were a lot of less positive about Medicare for All. In fact, they showed why single payer health care may turn out to be one of the few problematic issues for Democrats heading into 2020 — if the party isnt careful. Harris has this week, saying on Monday night that she supported the most aggressive version of Medicare for All before , via aides, late yesterday.

When Kaiser pollsters were putting together their survey, they understood that not all Americans thought of Medicare for All as meaning the same thing. So the poll asked people whether they believed that they would be allowed to keep their private insurance plan under such a system. Almost 60 percent of respondents said yes. In reality, , in an analysis of the poll, the whole point of Medicare for All would be to wipe away current insurance arrangements and replace them with a new public plan.

Not only that, but when the pollsters described a version of Medicare for All in which private insurance was wiped away, support plummeted. The idea flipped from being popular to unpopular: 37 percent of respondents favored it, and 58 percent opposed it.

This same hostility to change helped sink Bill and Hillary Clintons health care plan in the 1990s. It also became the mainline of Republican attack against Barack Obamas health care law — and one reason that law remained unpopular until President Trump started attacking it . Many Americans are happy with their current insurance, polls show. Even among those who arent, many worry about being forced into a new plan. Loss aversion is a hell of a drug, notes , a University of Michigan political scientist.

I understand the arguments in favor of mandatory Medicare for All. It could reduce bureaucratic waste and insurance company profit skimming. It could help the United States lower its world leading medical costs. And Im thrilled to see presidential candidates willing to offer .

But I think this particular plan is an unforced error. It comes with huge political vulnerabilities — and a less problematic, but still bold, alternative exists: that allows people to buy in voluntarily. That plan could also be called Medicare for All. And if it proved to be as popular as Democrats expect, advocating for the mandatory version would become much easier. Until then, as Nyhan says, the mandatory approach splits Ds and unites Rs.
