Ojukwu Visited Me Last Night To Weep For Ndigbo By Fredrick Nwabufo

In the time of the pharaohs of Egypt, when African civilisation was at its apogee, dreams were considered an elemental means of communication from the divine. The story of Joseph and an Egyptian king in the Bible accents this.

In Igbo cosmology, dreams, "nlo", are often not weighed with levity. They are studied through priestly oneirology and interpreted. And even in Pentecostalism dreams have a place.

Lately, I have been thinking pensively about the political future of the Igbo in Nigeria.   And as it is, there appears to be no forecast of sunshine, but of dark clouds.

The late Emeka Ojukwu envisioned APGA to be a melting-pot for all Igbo interests and a political bargaining-asset for the south-east. But today, the party is sequestered to an insignificant corner in the region.

Since 2017, APGA has galloped from one scandal to another. The primary elections conducted by the party in 2018 soaked up lots of acrimony, accusations of fraud, extortion, intimidation, imposition and other dirt. And it keeps floundering.

Recently, the party endorsed the candidature of President Buhari.

Inasmuch as I think the party is well within its rights do so, but I wonder, to what end? Is there a guarantee that there will be support for Igbo presidency in 2023? And is there a pledge to restructuring Nigeria, which the Igbo earnestly demand, by the endorsed candidate? Or is the endorsement a "personal arrangee"?.

I would really like to know what informed the party's decision, though I am not a member of the party or any political party. But Ojukwu came to me in my dream last night.

He looked mournful, with tears like Kaduna railway tracks lining his face and soiling his heavy beard. And with a belaboured cadence, he uttered, "APGA!".

I am not a dream interpreter. But I think the message is clear. Or could it be a function of my mind; worries?.

In all, I would advise young and progressive Igbo sons and daughters to identify with a political party; a fledgling party, not the APC and the PDP, which have been tainted.

They should make the desired party their own and forge it into a strong force by reaching out to their siblings in the south-west, south-south, north, and middle-belt. The elders have failed us. But we cannot fail ourselves.

These elders fan the flames of ethnicity and religion when they want to extract political profit. But the real ethnicity of the political class is power and their true religion is money.

We cannot have a forecast of political sunshine, if we work in isolation of other stakeholders in this entity. The elders know this, but they only enter into negotiations for themselves, their families and side chicks. We cannot fail ourselves.

The talented Belgium international has long been rated as one of the brightest prospects in Europe, known for his superb box-to-box abilities in midfield

In a surprise development, it could be that Arsenal manage to get him on loan from this struggling Monaco side, with West Ham and Newcastle also enquiring about him, according to Sky Sports

Despite the 21-year-old's stock seemingly falling due to being part of this dysfunctional Monaco team, it would no doubt be exciting to see him in the Premier League

Why Liverpool got Barca star Luis Suarez for so cheap during Dalglish spell? ● LFC News transfer - Duration: 2:30.

LIVERPOOL managed to sign Barcelona star Luis Suarez on the cheap during Kenny Dalglish's

spell.

Liverpool signed Suarez from Ajax back in January 2011 after losing Fernando Torres

to Chelsea.

Torres had chosen to swap Anfield for Stamford Bridge in a huge £50million transfer - making

him the UK's most-expensive footballer at the time.

Liverpool landed Andy Carroll from Newcastle but also followed that up by signing Suarez

on the cheap.

The Uruguay international touched down on Merseyside for £22.7m from Ajax and went

on to be money well spent.

The 32-year-old spent three-and-a-half years at Anfield.

And, during that time, he came close to delivering the Premier League title that Liverpool supporters

crave.

In today's climate, Suarez would cost a staggering amount.

But ESPN say the Reds were able to sign the striker for so cheap because of his discipline

problems.

At the time of the transfer, Suarez was banned from Dutch football for biting an opponent.

But Ajax were wary of the player's price dropping given his on-field conduct issues.

As a result, Liverpool were able to land him on the cheap and the rest is now history.

Meanwhile, Suarez recently praised Liverpool for their stunning season under Jurgen Klopp.

But he stopped short of saying if whether or not he would seal a stunning return.

"Currently we work for two different clubs so that's not an issue for me at the moment,"

he said.

"But sure every player would like to train under Jurgen Klopp.

"Anyone who has ever played in Liverpool remains connected to the club for a lifetime.

"The team plays terrific football and I am very interested in how they will do this

year.

"I think we can still be prepared for a lot."

Gwyneth Paltrow is sued for $3.1MILLION after leaving a Utah doctor, 72, with a brain injury - Duration: 11:57.

Gwyneth Paltrow is sued for $3.1MILLION after leaving a Utah doctor, 72, with a brain injury

A Utah doctor has filed a lawsuit accusing Gwyneth Paltrow of seriously injuring him in a 'hit-and-run' crash at a swank Park City ski resort in 2016, and is demanding damages in excess of $3.

Optometrist Terry Sanderson, 72, says in a complaint that was filed on Tuesday that Paltrow was skiing with an instructor at Deer Valley when she lost control and slammed into him from behind.

'I heard this hysterical scream and instantaneous I got hit in the back,' said Sanderson at a press conference on Tuesday.

Paltrow then proceeded to get up and ski away according to the legal filing, without checking on Sanderson or offering any assistance to the injured man.

Soon after the GOOP guru fled the scene, Sanderson claims that her instructor came over and informed the injured man that the incident was his fault and then also skied off.

Sanderson says in the complaint that neither Paltrow or the instructor alerted ski patrol after abandoning him, and he was left stranded and alone with brain damage and four broken ribs on the side of the mountain.

Reps for Paltrow dismissed the filing as being 'without merit' and said their client expects to be 'vindicated' in the case.

Her lawyers meanwhile have stated that Paltrow was downhill at the time of the crash, meaning that she had the right of way.

It is not just Paltrow who is named in the suit, with Sanderson also seeing damages from the resort and three employees who were with Paltrow.

'This case involves a hit-and-run ski crash at Deer Valley, Utah, where Defendant Gwyneth Paltrow skied out of control and hit the back of Terry Sanderson, another skier, who was downhill, knocking him down hard, knocking him out, and causing a brain injury, four broken ribs and other serious injuries,' states the legal filing.

Paltrow got up, turned and skied away, leaving Sanderson stunned, lying in the snow, seriously injured. That is when a ski instructor came over and derided Sanderson claims the filing, despite the fact that he did not see the crash.

'He also failed to send help, as he was obligated to do, and later filed a false report to protect his client, Ms. Paltrow,' states the filing.

Paltrow nor Deer Valley lodge personnel notified emergency responders about the injured Dr. Sanderson. They left him at the scene with serious brain injuries caused by Ms. Paltrow.'. The instructor has been identified in the court filing as Eric Christiansen.

Paltrow was also with friends and family as well as two additional Deer Valley employees according to the lawsuit. She was allegedly rushing down the mountain to grab lunch at the Montage Lodge at Deer Valley according to the complaint.

There is a witness in the case, who was seen on a video presented during a press conference on Tuesday. 'I saw Gwyneth Paltrow hit him in the back. Terry wasn't moving his skies were facing down the hill,' stated the man.

That man also stated that Paltrow did not say a single word throughout the entire incident. Sanderson is being represented in the case by Robert Sykes, a civil rights attorney.

He is also working with. Paltrow had posted a photo one year prior while at Deer Valley bragging about what a natural athlete she was, writing: '20 years later and I still got it #justlikeridingabike #ididntbreakanything!'.

She also gave the resort the ultimate endorsement when she did a Park City & Deer Valley Guide on GOOP.

'Skiing in Utah certainly has its draws: wide-open terrain, more bluebird days than we can count, and some seriously good, consistent powder,' wrote Paltrow.

And she said of Deer Valley: 'What's nice about Deer Valley is there's a little something for everyone, making it a great mountain for families—there are easy cruisers like Bluebell and Lucky Jack, plus some solid steeps like Daly Bowl and Lady Morgan.

Sanderson meanwhile states in his filing: 'Gwyneth Paltrow knew it was wrong to slam into Dr.

Sanderson's back, knocking him down, landing on top of him, knocking him out and then leave the scene of the ski crash she caused, but she did it anyway.'.
