Waching daily Sep 25 2018

Henrique, are you stupid or what? I can't believe what I'm hearing!?! - I still haven't decide if I wanna go to New York.

- You're thinking about this for more than a week, now... Are you expecting to go there, by the time you need a stick, to walk?

Do you wanna be a frustrated person for the rest of your life? This world has a lot of frustrated people! It doesn't need another one! - I need to think. Things are not like that.

- You're the one making it complicated! There's no doubt! - You're forgetting about one thing! - What?

- About my aunt! Mrs. Conceição! - Henrique, give me a break!

- To go to New York, I have to study dance! But, if I do that, my aunt will send me back home! And then, I won't be a doctor nor a dancer! I'll end up selling hamburgers!

- Do it secretly! That's the risk you must take! Do you think you'll have another opportunity like this? If you don't grab this one, you won't grab any other!

- Hello, Henrique! Hey, João. - Hi, Inês. - Inês, you're here? - Yes, I came to talk to your cousin. Is he home?

- Well, I hope I've helped. - Yes, you did. It was everything I wanted to hear. - Let me get you to the door.

- Oh, no! Let it be! I still wanna say goodbye to your cousin & João. - They're in the bedroom. Feel free!

- I just came to say goodbye! - Ciao. - That Tarot was really fast. - Yes...

It was better this way. Your aunt was really annoyed when she left... Because we were occupying the living-room. - She left? To where?

- I guess she went to Mrs. Eugénia's house. She's having a meeting with her and with your grandpa. - Oh, I know it: It must be that crazy idea about the funeral home, again.

- A funeral home? - Yes... My grandpa wants to open a funeral home for pets. Can you imagine that?

- But, what do Mrs. Eugénia & Mrs. Conceição have to do with that? - As far as I know from the fights in my house, I guess they'll invest on the business.

- But, that requires a lot of money. Where did they get it from? - I don't know. I guess they got it from the bank.

- Those talks of yours about virginity, drive me crazy! - I don't know why! You know someday I won't be a virgin anymore!

I know I wasn't "brought by a stork" for a long time, now! - But, you have to think carefully about who you wanna lose your virginity with.

It can't be with the first boy that crosses your way! - That's obvious! And this is not the first time I'm in love.

- Ok, but if all your passions will be like the last one, you'll just make mistakes! - You're talking about João. - Sure! Stay away from that kind of boyfriends, please!

- Oh, mom... João doesn't count... - You were so in love with him and now he doesn't count?!? - It has nothing to do with that. It doesn't count because...

João is gay.

- João what? - That's exactly what you heard: João is gay!

- Why are you showing up so up-late, Guida? Why didn't you call? - I know it's late, my dear. But, I had to come to tell you this in person.

- Ok, what is it? - I wouldn't lose your reaction for anything in this world!

- You're not getting married, right? Tell me once and for all, because I've got no patience... - It's about your nephew João.

- What about that creature? - João is gay!

- "What's this? - It's something that will change your life! - I don't need to see further more..."

- "Henrique, we're talking about a dance scholarship in New York, with all expenses included! It's the dream of your life! Will you tell me you're not interested?"

- Aunt, I'm going out and I won't be home for lunch.

- Where are you going? - To the tutoring! Where could I be going? - But, it never takes so long that you don't have time to come to lunch at home!

- I'll have an extra class, today. I'll eat something outside. - Henrique, watch out what you're doing! - There you are: always suspicious about everything!

I've been all the time studying at home. Now, I'm going to the tutoring. Goodbye.

- Oh, at least a little kiss!...

- I could tell you weren't doing a good thing! - Stop that! I'm only doing this for your cousin's own good!

- For Henrique's own good or to satisfy your curiosity? - He's acting strange! Something's going on! I'm just trying to get some clue...

He better not even thing about coming back to dancing! - That would be the best thing he could do!

- The best for him would be to get a job, so he could sleep in peace at night, without having to worry about where to get money to eat! Got it?

He'll do that only if he becomes a doctor! Not a dancer! - Even if he didn't have to worry about his bills, he wouldn't be able to sleep. Do you know why?

He'd be totally frustrated because he wouldn't be working in what he likes!

- And how many people are also frustrated because, despite they like their work, they don't get enough money?

- Try to wake up everyday to work on something you don't like and then tell me if you don't get depressed! - When he becomes a doctor, he'll solve depression.

And don't you try to get any ideas into his mind!

I didn't find anything. - There's only two options: Either Mrs. Conceição is getting paranoid or Henrique is getting smarter!

- Henrique!? I can't believe it!

What a surprise! How are you? Look: Your aunt doesn't dream that you're here, right? - That's it: She has no idea!

- And you didn't come here just because you were missing it, right? - That's it... - So?

- I came to talk to you about the audition for the New York scholarship.

Then it's a deal: You'll help me rehearsing to get the New York scholarship! - Of course I'll help you! I'm sure you'll make it!

- Thank you. I knew I could count on you! - What about your aunt? She'll get suspicious!

- Not this time! I had a spectacular idea! My plan won't fail! - Oh, really? What is it?

- I must act fast... Pedro & Dulce can't stay together. I must stop that reconciliation... And according to my father, it'll happen soon.

- What will you do?

- I'm gonna make them fight! While they fight, they won't make peace. Ana's abortion was good while I was in San Francisco. I must find another reason, now.

- You won't use what I've told you, right? - Guida, I don't have any other weapon. It's time for my dear sister & Pedro to find out that their son is... Gay!

- Don't you think I'll go there to tell them that! You're not going to do that yourself either, right? - I still don't know how I'll make the bomb explode, but I have to find a way.

Pedro & Dulce can't be in peace! - They're so provincial that I can imagine their reaction...

- Poor Dulce: She'll find out that she ain't gonna have grandchildren from her beloved son. And that she won't have a daughter-in-law. But a son-in-law, instead!

- You still haven't told me your plan. How will you manage to rehearse in secret? - I'll tell my aunt that I'm here doing Jiu-Jitsu with you.

She'll think I'm here, but I'll be with Elisa rehearsing my routine for the audition. - That's a great idea. But, don't you think she'll get suspicious?

- She won't have any reason for that. I'll keep on studying and going to the tutoring. - What if you win the scholarship.

- If I manage to go to New York... Nobody will be able to stop me! - I'm sure you'll make it, man!

- Don't you have anything else to do? Don't you have to give some support to your sister Dulce? - Dulce has been very strong! She's facing all of this very well!

- Sure, but you know how to deal with children... Sons... Perhaps you could give her some help...

- What are you trying to say, Luísa?

- Don't you know it, yet? - Tell me what it is, once and for all! - Júlia, I'm not recognizing you!

Now Dulce needs you so much! She just found out that her son is a sissy... - What? - That's right: João's gay! Poor Dulce. She must be devastated...

- How do you know João's gay? - Mariana told Guida. She was at their house and said that it was a big mess because of the news...

But, I'm surprised you still didn't know... - I don't talk to Dulce for a few days, now...

- I'm really surprised with you, Júlia. Dulce is in need of your support... And what do you do?... Nothing!

- Don't you be cynical! You're rejoicing, now that Dulce is suffering!

- I'm not rejoicing! I mean, João being gay is not the end of the world... Every day there's more of them.

But Dulce can forget about her dream of having a lot of grandchildren! Now, only Ana can give her that.

- Not even the aneurysm has changed you... It's incredible how you manage to be so vicious, evil and narcissistic!

- Wow! So many adjectives, Júlia! I didn't know you were so good in Portuguese Language! - Yes, but the dictionary is running out of words to describe you!

- Oh, Júlia... Don't waste more time offending me. I'm worried about Dulce and you should be worried too.

I can't talk to her, due to obvious reasons, so you should be the one supporting her. Now, she'll go though a very hard phase...

We try to accept it and we try to be modern.. And I'm not a homophone!... But, the truth is that deed down, nobody wants to have a gay child!

Júlia was my luck! - And she doesn't even know she'll be your asset! - She was perfect! I didn't know who'd tell it to Dulce and she solved that problem for me!

Now, Pedro & Dulce will have another reason for fighting! - Do you really think Júlia got convinced that Dulce already knows that João is gay?

- She left this house totally convinced! I also played my role: "Dulce won't deal very well with this situation, for sure! She needs your support, Júlia!"

- My dear, you're incredible! You never lose a chance! - That's life, Guida: If you have a good card, play it in the right moment! You can't wait!

- I'm imagining Júlia arriving to their house and starting to talk to Dulce, as if all family already knew that the kid is gay!

- I want them to fight a lot! The vibe in that house must be like hell! That way, Pedro & Dulce will take much longer to make peace.

And before that takes place, he'll be in my arms, already! - Oh, I'm so worried about Dulce...

I can't imagine how she is. She probably didn't have time yet to process this story of João being gay...

- It's not easy, but it isn't the end of the world, either. He doesn't like women, he likes men! What's the problem?

- You know it's not as simple as you're putting it. - João is a healthy boy. He's not into bad stuff! That's what matters! So much drama due to such a simple thing?

- Tiago... Why are you so impatience? Is it because of Gabriel? - Weren't we talking about Dulce? I think there's no problem in João being gay! That's all!

- Of course there's no problem! But, Dulce probably didn't react well. She must be super down and nervous. I don't know what's going on her mind! I must talk to her!

- She's a mother. It's normal for her to be a bit confused with this story. Because her son won't have the kind of future that she always have dreamed for him.

He won't get married, nor give her grandchildren, for example... But, she'll overcome it! She'll understand him...

What can she do? It's his life, isn't it?

- Mom, I'm going out! - Aren't you going with me & grandpa to the Chinese restaurant? - No, I'm going to Henrique's place.

- You could go there after dinner... - No, mom. Mrs. Conceição always gives me sideways glances and If I go there later, she'll shoot me!

- Conceição wouldn't do that! - She's really sweet to you, but to me... Anyway... Well... I'm leaving!

Mom, try to make peace with dad. - Let's see, João... - Do things as you want. I just don't wanna see you sad... - Ok. See you later.

- Grandpa, did you find your pill? - Just a moment!

- If your talk with dad takes longer, just text me and I'll take longer with grandpa outside. - Stop that! I'm so nervous and you're making me feel even more anxious!

- Do you know why you're anxious? Because tou wanna forgive dad, but you're scared... - I've found it, Ana. We can go, now.

- Mom, try to solve this situation with dad, once and for all: For better or worse! But, like this, the situation isn't good for anyone!

- We must take the chances that life gives us, daughter.

- Ok! Go and have dinner! And don't you guys go to nightclubs, after that! I want you both home early! - Let's go! - See you later! - See you!

- Have you thought that my mistake may be preventing you from seeing my good side?

- Yes... That's why I wanna be fair to you... But above all, I wanna be fair to myself! - Then, don't value an act of madness! That's what it was.

- Pedro, answer me this...

Go deep down to your heart and tell me, honestly: Do you want my love or do you want me to give you peace of mind?

- I'm sorry for coming up without notice, but I really need to talk to you guys. - Not now, Júlia. Me & Pedro are having a really important conversation.

- Sure... That's why I came... - What? - I know it all... - You "know it all" what, Júlia?

- I already know that João is gay!...

- Henrique, you must be really careful! If your aunt catches you, it'll be the end of everything!

- Everything is planned: I've told her about Jiu-Jitsu, my dancing clothes will be always with Elisa and I'll carry a kimono in my bag.

There's no way for her to get suspicious! - Ok, but don't you get so confident. You know your aunt: She can even get under your bed just to spy you.

- No way! Everything is under control! This time, nobody will stop me from making my dream come true!

- If you need me, I'm here! - Will you visit me in New York? - You won't get rid of me so easily! Perhaps, I'll decide to go with you!

- João doesn't leave this house, again! It doesn't please me at all!

- If Henrique will become a doctor, he'll also need to be sociable. The boy is always studying! Let him be with his friends! What's the problem?

- Ok, I'm not against it. But just now, I passed by Henrique's door and I didn't hear anything! If they're talking so low, they must be hiding something, right?

- And who doesn't have something to hide? Don't you play the saint! - I'm getting really suspicious! I'm not liking this!

- It's the shiatsu... Or what's its name! It's João's visits... No, no: They're hiding something from me! - Do you wanna know the truth? - Tell me!

If you know it, tell me!

- Since IVA [taxes] increased to 21%, Henrique & João are robbing banks! And then, they share the money with the people from Almada. Like Robin Hood!

- You're making jokes, but this is a serious case, Alexandre!

I just hope I'm mistaken! But, if Henrique's lying to me again, he'll go in the next train home! Got it? I won't put up with him nor hide anything else!

- But, what's that nonsense about João? - Aren't you guys talking about João? - No, Júlia!

- I'm sorry. I thought... - You said João is gay?!? What nonsense is that? - So, you guys didn't know it yet... - What story is that? Where did you get that from?

- João told you that? - No. - How can you say such a thing about my son? - Calm down, Dulce!

- I won't calm down! She comes here saying that João's gay?!? Is everybody nuts?

- I'm sorry, Dulce. I thought you already knew and I came here because I thought you wanted to get it off your chest.

- Excuse me, but you're the one who must wanna talk! What did you see my son doing? - I didn't see anything. - Why are you saying such a thing?

- Someone told me... - Who told you that?

Fresh Things: What is a Winter Squash? - Duration: 1:30.

Hi, I'm Chef Dan with FreshPoint and now that the fall season is upon us, you

may wonder exactly what is a winter squash, and how is it different from a

summer squash? Well, it's a squash that's allowed to fully mature, so the seeds on

the interior grow to full maturity. The skin gets a little tougher and thicker,

and the flesh gets really dense and hard. You really can't cook a hard squash like

you can a summer squash, so when looking at them you want to look at methods like

roasting, steaming, even boiling. I like to par-cook butternut squash, slice them thin

put them on the grill with a little brown sugar and cinnamon for a real

quick and wonderful side. I've got a few here: I've got the butternut squash,

spaghetti squash, acorn squash, and my favorite is the Honeynut squash. You may

never have heard of the Honeynut squash, it was developed in 2009, it was a

collaboration between Dan Barber and Cornell University. The challenge was

made to make a Butternut squash that tasted good, and the Honeynut squash was

the result. Bred and grown specifically to be roasted, in fact it may be the

first and only vegetable grown with a specific cooking method in mind. Try it

out on your fall menu. I'm Chef Dan and FreshThings come from FreshPoint.

Better Call Saul S4E8: Is Kim with Jimmy on Breaking Bad? | Heavy.com - Duration: 5:47.

Better Call Saul S4E8: Is Kim with Jimmy on Breaking Bad? | Heavy.com

If you've always thought that Kim and Jimmy were going to be torn apart in some tragic, heartbreaking way in Better Call Saul, you might have been wrong.

Season 4 Episode 8 left us with some strong hints that things might end up differently, and now fans are creating new theories that could turn everything upside down. This post has major spoilers for the end of Season 4 Episode 8, "Coushatta," so don't read on unless you've already seen the episode or you're OK being spoiled. .

At the very end of the episode, we thought Kim was going to break up with Jimmy.

In fact, this whole season has been leading us in that direction.

But instead, Kim told Jimmy that she wanted to pull another con.

She absolutely loved what they did to free Huell and she wants to do it again.

She and Jimmy are now closer than ever, and it doesn't look like they're splitting any time soon.

And fans are now calling Kim "Slippin' Kim" or "Slippin' Kimmy.".

Some fans still believe that Kim and Jimmy will ultimately part ways.

Maybe Jimmy will have to leave Kim so she doesn't get pulled in deeper.

Maybe he'll go too far in a morally grey area.

Or maybe she'll be hurt in some terrible accident that's a result of a con they were pulling.

But after the way the episode ended, fans have another theory about what will happen, and it has some ties to Better Call Saul.

The theory is that maybe Kim and Jimmy are still together in the Breaking Bad universe.

We don't learn much about Saul's personal life.

And Kim enjoys the con just as much as Jimmy does.

Maybe she came up with the concept of "Saul Goodman, Attorney at Law." Maybe she's the one who pushes Jimmy to do bigger and bigger things, rather than the other way around like everyone has suggested.

Fans are hoping now that in a flash forward scene when we see Gene, we will one day see Kim too, and she'll be meeting with him.

Maybe she tracked him down through that taxi cab driver.

Here's a big clue that Kim might still be around.

Fans have pointed out that in Breaking Bad, the holding company that Saul uses to launder money and evade taxes is called Ice Station Zebra Associates.

The company's name also shows up in small print during Saul's TV commercials.

Here's an example:.

Interestingly, Ice Station Zebra is the name of Kim's favorite movie.

It's a 1968 movie that stars Rock Hudson, and Jimmy and Kim are watching it together in the Amarillo episode.

And in the episode Bali Ha'i, when Kim and Jimmy run a con that involves a stranger writing a check for $10,000 to their startup, Kim has the stranger write the check to Ice Station Zebra Associates.

So either Jimmy named the money laundering company in memory of Kim (but why would he if they were broken up?) or maybe she's the one running Ice Station Zebra Associates.

There's one more intriguing clue that fans have pointed out.

The meaning of the Wexler surname is "money changer." And that just happens to fit in quite well with someone running a money laundering business.

Oh, and let's not forget that thanks to Kim's experience with Mesa Verde, she now is an expert on running banks.

Hmmm….

Do you agree with this theory? Let us know in the comments below.

Better Call Saul Timeline: How Close Is BCS to Breaking Bad? | Heavy.com - Duration: 4:57.

Better Call Saul Timeline: How Close Is BCS to Breaking Bad? | Heavy.com

With more and more people appearing from the Breaking Bad universe on Better Call Saul, fans are wondering just how close Better Call Saul is getting to the beginning of Breaking Bad. We've actually been given exact dates for when things are happening on Season 4 of Better Call Saul.

And since we know that Breaking Bad started in 2008, we know that we're still more than four years away from the beginning of Breaking Bad. Here are some of the clues we've learned that reveal the timeline.

It's been confirmed that Season 3 of Better Call Saul took place in 2003, and Season 2 took place from late 2002 to 2003.

Season 4, which picked up in 2003, is currently taking place in 2004.

Breaking Bad, meanwhile, started on September 7, 2008 (Walt's birthday), and takes place just six years after Better Call Saul's first season began.

So even now, as of Episode 8 of Season 4, we're still four years away from Breaking Bad. .

Here's how we know this:.

Jimmy's case number when he was given bail in Season 3 Episode 3 began with 003, indicating he was in 2003.

When Kim tries to give a check to Hamlin in Season 3 Episode 8, the check reads March 4, 2003.

Jimmy refers to Kim's recovery as Relaxathon 2003 in Season 3 Episode 10.

Mike's paycheck envelope that he receives in Season 4 Episode 1 still reads 2003.

In the episode Something Stupid, we see Jimmy's PPD report completed on January 12, 2004.

So we're now in 2004.

But we're still four years from Breaking Bad, which started in 2008.

The Oscars pool Jimmy was collecting bets for in a flashback of Season 4 Episode 6 was in 1993, Reddit pointed out here.

So that means Kim was still in law school about 10 years before "present day" in Better Call Saul, and Jimmy hadn't quite started law school yet.

Fans have pointed out some inconsistencies and minor errors that might have caused you to guess a different year.

These include an in-depth post from Redditor ThumberFresh, who determined that the baseball game Mike was watching in Season 4 Episode 1 had to be April 13, 2004.

However, the paycheck Mike received was stamped 2003, so the game had to be a production error.

Others pointed out that the car owned by the floor supervisor from Season 4 Episode 1 didn't go into production until September 7, 2004, which is later than the baseball game Mike watched in the same episode.

That's another production error, and doesn't indicate the show's timeline.

Despite the inconsistencies, it looks like we're still at least four years away from the start of Breaking Bad.

As another fun fact, Wal celebrated his 50th birthday in 2008, which would make him about 46 right now during the Better Call Saul timeline.

What is this Procurement Thing? Part 2 - Duration: 17:13.

Hello and welcome to the second in a series of webinars focused on procurement.

Today we will do a brief review of the topics that were covered

in the first webinar. Then we will explore meal planning and forecasting as

the next step in the procurement process.

Remember that procurement is a process. Ideally, it will result in obtaining the

goods, products, and/or services at the best possible price.

You must go through the procurement process

whenever you make a purchase, no matter how large or small.

As a sponsor of a USDA child nutrition program, you are receiving

federal funds based on the meals or snacks that you serve. There are many

rules and regulations you need to follow in order to receive federal funds.

Today we are focusing on procurement. The USDA requires that there be free and open

competition in the procurement process. This ensures that materials and services

are obtained efficiently, economically, and according to all requirements.

In last webinar, we discussed the steps for procurement and detailed what they mean.

If you'd like to review what we talked about last time, please visit the CACFP

training modules webpage.

We discussed developing your procurement procedures.

This is the story of how you do procurement, including who does the

purchasing, and the rules around purchasing.

We also discussed various resources for you to use and where to find them.

What a procurement procedure plan is and what it does for you. What a code of conduct is and why you

need one. And why using minority and women-owned business enterprises is beneficial.

We also briefly discuss the second step in the procurement process,

determining what you need, and how much you need.

Let's dive deeper into the second step in the procurement process: Forecasting and Planning.

Listen to this story, and then I will have some questions.

Peter Planner likes to plan. He does his shopping on Monday evenings. Before he

goes to the store he does some planning. He plans his menu for the week, checks

his pantry and refrigerator to see what he has on hand, looks at the store ads,

gathers his coupons, and writes a list. After dinner on Monday evening, he goes

to the store with his lists, and coupons, and does his shopping.

Rita Random likes to wing it. She shops when she gets around to it, and

often picks up something at the convenience store at the gas station.

Last week she had to dump out a full gallon of milk!

I guess she shouldn't have bought three gallons, even if it was on sale.

She threw out something slimy from her produce drawer. She was going to start making and

taking salad for lunch, but she didn't have any salad dressing. She got rid of

some cheese that was growing fuzz (kind of forgot that she had it). She grabs fast

food a few more nights than she cares to admit, because there's nothing to eat at home.

Questions: Who do you think spends more for food? Who wastes more food?

Who has the greatest potential to eat more nutritious and delicious meals?

And the biggest question of all: who would you want to be responsible for your food dollars?

As we mentioned, the forecasting and planning step is really about understanding

what you need, how much you need, and staffing or equipment needed to meet

your needs. This drives which procurement method you will use to purchase your

items. We will talk about that more in our next webinar.

Much like Peter Planner, procurement starts with planning your menu. There are many factors that go into

menu planning. The most important factor is ensuring that your menu meets program

regulations. In choosing items to put on your menu, you must consider which meals

or snacks you are serving, and what type of meal preparation facilities you have.

And it's wise to keep in mind the seasonal availability of different foods.

Taking advantage of seasonal and local foods can help reduce costs and provide

variety in your menu. For example, the peak growing season in Washington State

for blueberries is July through September. You may want to serve fresh

blueberries during those months, and use frozen blueberries during the rest of the year.

You must also be mindful of how much staff time you can devote to meal

preparation, as well as how and where you plan to serve the meal or snack.

In addition, you have to take into account what type of equipment you have to

prepare and serve the meal or snack. Planning a meal or snack that is child

friendly, nutritious, and eye appealing while thinking about all of the above,

and staying within your budget, is your goal. It's a big job.

Questions you should ask yourself: how many children do you plan to serve? What meal is this for?

How often will this menu item be served? Daily, like milk? Weekly, like carrots?

Monthly, like chicken nuggets? And so on. Being able to forecast what your menu

needs are, ensures you will have what you need,

when you need it.

Menu planning and forecasting will be easier if you use a

cycle menu, one that repeats every two weeks,

every month, or longer. Choose the length of the cycle that works best for you.

Once you have your menu planned, you can begin the forecasting process for

procurement. First of all, make sure it meets meal pattern requirements.

Let's look at an example.

This is a two week menu cycle that comes from the New York

State Department of Health. They have planned for what they will have; now they

need to make sure they have the right amount. Let's say your childcare center

uses this menu and serves about 50 kids each day, ages one to two.

For every two weeks, you're offering milk twenty-one times. Ten times at breakfast, Ten times at lunch, and

one time as a snack. And you're offering a hamburger on a whole-wheat bun one

time at lunch. You are serving 50 children so how much do you need to buy?

The link on the screen will take you to a page of resources, including USDA's

Food Buying Guide. This food buying guide can be a great tool for you to use at

work or home. Let's show you how and look at what the food buying guide says for

milk products.

When you look in the milk section of the Food Buying Guide, here's

what you'll see. This guide allows you to: view the purchase unit, determine the

serving size for the item, and see how many servings you will get. For our

example your serving size for all meals and snacks is a half cup of milk.

Going down the list we can compared items that meet our needs.

For students who are two-years-old, the serving size for fat-free or low-fat milk is a

half a cup for all meals and snacks. We have pulled three items from the Food Buying

Guide to compare that meet this requirement. The difference between the three

items is the purchase unit, which is the size of the container that the milk

comes in. The chart tells you how many half-cup servings are in the purchase

unit. Once you have decided on the purchase unit you want to use, you can

look at the number of servings in the purchase unit and then calculate how

much you need to buy based on the number of servings you need. Ask yourself: How do

you want to purchase and serve this item? Do you prefer to use a single-serve half

cup carton? Or pour the milk from a quart or gallon container? Is buying milk in a

gallon container less expensive than buying four individual quart containers

of milk? What is the most cost effective way to buy milk that meets your storage

and serving needs?

Just diving in a little further here, if you click on the

blue link for the item on the chart, this page will appear and can show you how

many purchase units you need to buy for the number of servings you want.

Let's go back to our example: You feed fifty children Monday through Friday every week.

How much milk and hamburger meat do you need to buy for your two-week cycle?

You will need twenty-one servings of milk for this cycle for each child twenty-one servings times

fifty children totals 1,050 servings of milk. Let's look at how we can serve it.

Some purchasing options include a half-cup prepackaged serving, quart cartons,

and gallons, but we need to think about how we store them,

and how we serve them as well. If we use the half-cup prepackaged servings, you'll

need 1,050 of them. Quart cartons, you get about eight

half-cup servings out of each. That means you would have to get sixty-three of them.

Fifty servings needed per day divided by eight servings equals 6.25 cartons,

multiplied by ten days equals 62.5 cartons and round up to 63.

And lastly, if we use gallons you'll get around thirty-two half-cup servings in each

gallon. You would only have to buy sixteen gallons for the two-week cycle.

Fifty servings needed divided by thirty-two equals 1.56, times ten days equals sixteen gallons.

Now let's look into your homemade hamburgers. Even if you don't

purchase USDA foods, this tool can be used to help you buy the right amount of

food for your needs. Feel free to take these calculations with you next time

you go shopping for home or work. Here we pull up some items that contribute to

the one-and-a-half ounce meat/meat alternate requirement for one to two

year olds. You can pay attention to how many servings you get per pound, as well

as decide on fat content preferences. You need fifty servings for your homemade beef

hamburgers but how much meat should you buy? Let's say you selected this ground

beef item because you can get the most servings out of each pound.

When we click on the item, this screen pulls up. You can figure how many pounds you need to buy

in one of two ways. Take the number of servings you need, fifty, and divide it by

the number of servings from this purchase unit, 8.1.

And the result is that you need to buy 6.2 pounds of beef. You had to round to

get 6.2 and have to buy by the pound, so you rounded up again to 7.

Or, take the number of pounds needed to make 100 servings, 12.4, and dividing it by two

to get the number of pounds you need to buy for fifty servings. Either way works just

fine. Please note that you may have to search, and do some math, to find the most

cost effective products for your menu.

There are many things to think about when planning and forecasting your meals.

Just remember that starting with a menu that contains reimbursable meals and/or

snacks is the beginning and that cycle menus can help make planning and

forecasting easier. Planning and forecasting involves knowing what you're

going to serve, defining the menu items using specifications, knowing how much

you are going to serve, and how often you'll be serving it. It also involves

checking stock on hand, and determining how much you need to buy. This will

prepare you for the next step in the procurement process: Selecting the proper

procurement method, which we'll talk about in our next webinar.

Planning and forecasting can help you save time and money. It can result in a menu that is

appealing, cost effective, and nutritious. And it will enable you to comply with

the procurement and program regulations for Child Nutrition Programs.

What do I need to think about? Think about how you go about buying the food for your

program. Are you planning far enough in advance? Do you know what you're going to

serve and how much you need to purchase? Do you check your stock on hand before

purchasing more food and supplies? Do you check your storage space, refrigerator,

freezer, and dry storage to see how much room you have? Do you adjust your menu to

take advantage of seasonal availability and quality foods that are the best

price? Have you identified exactly what you want to buy? Answering these

questions will help you become an expert at planning and forecasting.

Is someone chasing after Hümeyra? | #Elif762 - Duration: 1:51.

- Oh, I'm really sorry about this. - Alright, don't mind.

I was about to crack your head open! Let's drop this first.

I'm so embarassed, really. I was about to hurt you.

But that didn't happen.

I was about to be a trouble for you, for the second time.

Alright, calm down already. Really, I don't mind.

You're coming here often, I think.

- Apparently you, too. - We could say that.

But this track is so mute, so isolated. Not many people around here.

I could accompany you, till the exit of the forest.

- Thanks, no need. - Are you sure?

You look nervous, then there's the thing happened yesterday...

I could go by myself, really, no problem.

Look, it could be better for you with a company.

Do I look that impotent from there? I could protect myself.

- With the rock? - No that was just... with the reflex!

Besides, you can't tell that it wouldn't work.

You're probably right, that could work.

But what really matters is...

that for you to ensure a true security.

So you're saying that I couldn't protect myself, I need somebody else to do it?

So thanks for yesterday, sorry for today, but I think I can take care of my own.

Alright, however you wish.

See you soon, take care.

You have a nice day, too!
