This Is The Boeing X-37B Reusable Uncrewed Spacecraft - Duration: 2:46.
the x-37b orbital test vehicle or OTV is
the nation's first unmanned space plane
managed by the US Air Force rapid
capabilities office the Boeing built
x-37b is a highly flexible testbed
platform for a variety of on-orbit
demonstrations this reusable system
allows hosted experiments to be returned
inspected modified and flown again at
dramatically reduced cost the x-37b
testbed platform is unique because we
can tailor our missions to specific user
needs and return experiments back for
post flight inspection the x-37b is
designed to fly and test new
technologies reduce technical risk early
and product design and validate system
performance it has completed four
successful flights accumulating over
2,000 days of on-orbit demonstrations
the vehicle provides experiments with
power data commanding thermal and
attitude control the x-37b has
repeatedly achieved rapid experiment
integration timelines proving itself to
be a responsive test platform the
existing x-37b infrastructure and
reusing the platform allows users to
focus their investment on the experiment
and developing new technologies the Air
Force Research Laboratory hall-effect
thruster experiment highlights the value
of this reusable space plane this
experiment flown on OTV 4 validated
performance enhancements that could only
be tested in a space environment
utilizing the x-37b enabled this complex
experiment to be flown in less than 24
months
Oh tv5 continues to advance the
performance and flexibility of the x-37b
as a space technology demonstrator
today's launch of OTV 5 is the first
flight of the next 37 be on a SpaceX
Falcon 9 the ability to launch the x-37b
on multiple platforms will provide
responsive and assured access to space
following the OTD for landing in florida
the program is consolidating launch
recovery refurbishment and experiment
integration in the repurposed orbiter
processing facility this consolidation
reduces processing time and positions
the program to be even more responsive
reliability reusability and
responsiveness of the x-37b will
fundamentally change how we perform
future space missions the x-37b flying
tomorrow's technologies today

What Is A Space Probe? - Duration: 3:02.
A space probe is a robotic spacecraft that travels outside the Earth's orbit
They're designed to operate on their own and are used to get close-up images and other information
back to earth in the form of radio waves for scientists to analyze.
Space probes carry special cameras and scientific instruments to study the atmosphere and
composition of other planets moons and celestial bodies.
It might orbit the planet or land, it might make a one-way journey, or might bring samples and data back to Earth.
There are different types of space probes because they collect different information and must withstand various extreme environments.
Sputnik 1 was the first probe to go into space.
It orbited the earth for three weeks before its batteries died.
It was the first time that the earth was studied from space and it provided us a glimpse of what it's like to be in space.
The first base probe to successfully land on another planet and send data back to Earth was Venera 7.
It took 23 minutes of data and provided images of the surface of Venus.
Pioneer 10 became the first spacecraft to travel through the asteroid belt and the first to reach the planet Jupiter.
Luna 3 was the first ever mission to see the far side of moon.
No one has seen the far side of the moon until it was photographed by Luna 3.
Hayabusa was the first to launch from the asteroid Itokawa and return samples back to Earth.
The New Horizons was the first space probe to be launched to Pluto.
Dawn spacecraft was the first to visit to our planets Vesta and Ceres.
Juno was the first base probe to operate without atomic batteries.
Atomic batteries have an extremely long life, but are very costly.
It has three solar panels. That's 9 feet by 29 feet long the biggest on any NASA deep-space probe.
Jupiter's orbit is five times farther from the Sun than Earth's and receives 25 times less sunlight.
It is the first solar array powered space probe to go this deep into space. The probe carried three Lego figurines
representing Galileo the Roman god Jupiter and his wife Juno.
It also carried a plaque that had a portrait and a note written by Galileo in January 1610 ,
while observing what would later be known as the Galilean moons and it translates:
Thanks for watching and keep looking up! :)
