Feeling like "I HAVE to do MORE."?
Yeah that's it.
Our pictures HAVE TO look good.
I just ignore it.
Hey it's Cathy Cat. This time we are gonna ask Japanese people about "SNS tsukare"
which means getting tired of networking services, such as instagram, YT, Twitter.
Let's find out what really tires them out and what to do against it.
Let's go and Ask Japanese!
Have you heard about this "SNS tiredness"?
Yes. - You just said "AAAAAH".
I get that sometimes.
Maybe I am less tired, but I am impressed by the other people.
When do you feel tired of SNS then?
When I see people that post a lot more than me.
Makes me realize I am not doing anything interesting now.
You feel like you have to do more? - I do.
I feel like I should post more too.
I use Instagram.
When you see people who do more on SNS than you do,
how often do they post?
They post every day... and then every few hours too.
That's quite impressive.
Do you want to do that but can't?
Yeah.
What makes you tired of using Instagram?
How I am getting tied to Instagram.
Mine is quite similar.
When I see other people post, I compare myself with their lives...
Sometimes I even find myself, comparing my unique attributes .... my personality...
I compare it all to other people I see online.
That sometimes makes me feel depressed.
You compare your life with theirs.
It makes me wonder what I am doing with my life right now.
Others post their best, "I am in Hawaii" and such and it make you feel down?
Yeah like that.
I get that!
When do you feel the most tired of SNS?
Answering messages on the LINE chat app.
Maybe I am too relaxed and have my own pace but...
I feel like I have to answer messages.
Messages will be marked as READ too. - Yes things like that.
I miss the times when we didn't have smart phones.
But nevertheless I like taking pictures.
I like looking at other people's pictures on Instagramm too.
Do you use LINE or Instagram more?
I think I use LINE the most.
Having to reply makes you tired?
I think so, especially when things start piling out. Maybe that's a personal issue of mine...
Some people will be totally fine with this but...
I tend to put it aside for a while.
I am guilty of that.
Don't read it because of the READ notifications, and wait until you have time?
That's one thing to do.
Are you tired of SNS too?
Line has the "read" function on it...
Once that is there, we feel obliged to respond to it.
Sometimes the message gets clicked by accident...
it will say "READ" and I am like "Oh shoot now I have to respond asap"
How to you cure your SNS tiredness?
- How? I wonder... - Take a step back.
When I don't want to see Instagram, I will not look at it.
Same goes for Twitter.
Yeah that's how I do it
When I have to contact anyone, I answer Line messages quickly but...
normal chatting messages, I will answer when i want to.
Do you use lots of SNS?
I do - What do you use?
I use Twitter and Instagram.
Same here, Twitter and Instagram.
Recently people are talking about "SNS Tsukare", when they are tired of SNS.
When do you feel tired of using social networking services?
I understand that there are people who don't agree with my opinions.
But sometimes when I see anti posts like that, it makes me see there are all kinds of people.
Makes me wish I didn't see that.
You're like "Now I saw THAT now..."
When do you feel tired of SNS?
When I see myself, trying desperately to take "Instagramm-able" pictures.
Makes me wonder why I am doing all of this.
Want it to look cute but...
seeing how desperate I am about it... makes me question myself.
It's a bit sad.
I take pictures of food and scenery mainly.
When I take a normal picture, I add dried flowers or something
I try too hard to take good looking pictures.
You're desperately aiming for something Instagram-able.
That makes me tired somewhat.
The pressure of having to take beautiful pictures.
We HAVE TO take great pictures.
Trying different angles, taking lots of time. - That's it.
Is that what Instagram is about?
- It's somehow like that. - It's a bit of a pain really.
- It's just self-indulgence really. - But the result is fun.
Have you heard of "SNS tsukare"
SNS tsukare? Tired of SNS?
Watching someone's instagram stories...
If you leave your stories turned on, they will quickly change and keep running.
You don't pick who you watch, after a while you just switch through.
Doing that, I sometimes see a video that I wish I hadn't seen.
When that happens, I wish I hadn't watched it at all...
I shouldn't have used it in the first place, are the regrets and feeling of tiredness I get.
What do you wish you didn't see?
When people are a bit too crazy or such...
But also...
Seeing someone's Instagram stories being updated lots, while I have been waiting
for a while to answer my Line messages.
When I see he is so active online but doesn't reply to me, it makes me feel bad.
Ah... he is using that app there lots...
I wish he'd rather just answer my message please.
It kind of came out he is doing something fun. - Yeah I think that.
I understand that feeling.
When do you feel tired of SNS?
I sense it on Twitter.
When there is a topic that lots of people are criticizing...
It makes me feel uncomfortable when I see people with very different opinions to mine.
Does that include flaming? - What?
When someone harasses someone about their opinons?
Yeah that's one of them.
What do you do then?
I just ignore it and pretend I didn't see it.
When it comes out the other person was having fun, what do you do?
I just feel sad inside.
I wouldn't tell him that I saw it.
I would just feel shocked and tired.
Have you heard of SNS tsukare?
People walking around while using their smartphones...?
That too but it also means some people are tired and exhausted by SNS.
When do you feel that way yourself?
I personally don't feel like that at all.
But when looking at my phone it makes me want to travel to Okinawa or Hawaii.
I get a lot of line message daily.
Sns has become an indispensable way of getting information now.
That's why I will see nice pictures of Hawaii and such.
But I don't feel tired of it yet.
Instead of being tired, it helps you to escape? - Yes. It's important.
I need it for work too.
Instagram helps me to see things about abroad and such.
I actually look at SNS to feel better and get inspired.
You're not tired. - I am not.
When do you feel tired of SNS?
I get tired when I have to link up with people that I don't want to link up with.
There is a small number of them.
But I think it has more merit than de-merit. I met him through SNS too.
And that's how we both came to work together.
This is super timely, we just met a few weeks ago.
There is pretty much only an advantage of using SNS.
What main SNS do you use? - Instagram.
I use Line and Instagram.
But I do like Twitter too.
Do you post or just read on Twitter?
I tweet and I use it to find out what is popular right now.
I look in the mornings at it to find out the daily trend word.
I use those 3 SNS but I don't use Facebook.
You said you use instagram. What do you use it mainly for?
I use stories a lot. I am addicted to it. It's pretty bad.
I can put up memories or share the things I have learned.
Thank you for your time.
Urgh! Getting tired of social networking!
Has that happened to you? Many Japanese people said
one thing is just looking at everyone else looking great.
Makes you feel kind of bad about yourself.
Or you constantly have to put some good content up
and that makes you tired.
Another thing, because Japanese people are very polite,
and on many apps they are using it shows that someone has read the app...
You kind of need to respond instantly even if you might not want to respond
at that time. So how is that for you? Let us know.
With me, I do youtube here in my room, which is where you are visiting now.
I enjoy putting up content a lot.
I do a lot of Instagram as well. If you enjoy that stuff, be sure to come over.
Visit my YouTube as well. Just type in Cathy Cat and you will find me AND
and the Instagram. And the pictures on my instagram are mainly done by...
the guy behind the camera right now. The director of Ask Japanese.
Would be nice to see you on my Instagram as well.
I hope you enjoyed this video and I catch you soon for another video from Japan
if you have subscribed, so don't forget to subscribe.
