Waching daily Feb 4 2019

I sometimes get people asking me why their lens is soft or not producing very

sharp images when I first bought a telephoto lens

I got a Tamron 70 to 300 millimeters and when I was shooting kitesurfers in a

backlit environment they were coming out really soft this was basically a budget

lens and I was expecting the quality of a top professional lens I then had the

Sigma 70 to 200 millimeter F 2.8 whenever I focused on the subject it

actually front focus a little bit so the subject would be soft and the focus

point would just be in front of the subject I then sent this lens away to be

calibrated when it came back it was spot-on

and it was producing some really nice images I had these lenses around about

ten years ago since then the quality control has got better and the

tolerances have got tighter so they do produce much better lenses another lens

that I've got is the Canon 50 millimeter 1.4 when I shoot at 1.4 I find that the

image is a little bit soft when I click the aperture down a little bit so I

close the aperture down the image of it it produces a lot sharper this lens has

a sweet spot and around about f/8 and you'll find a lot of lenses will have a

sweet spot through their aperture range with my sony 24 to 70 millimeter f/4 I

find that at 24 and 70 is just a little bit softer than through the middle range

so again through the zoom range there's a sweet spot now these differences are

really subtle and if you're just sharing to social media or taking photographs

for fun it shouldn't be too much of a problem however if you're a pixel peeper

or you're a professional photographer selling your images you'll need a set of

quality professional lenses the professional lenses have much narrower

tolerances and have a higher precision in the manufacturing process and that's

basically what you pay for although every now and then I do send Mike it off

to be serviced to make sure that it's calibrated properly and also remember to

check your front and back elements if there's dirt on these they can affect

the quality of your image if the image isn't as sharp as you want is there

anywhere in the image that's more sharp than the subject that you focused on are

you expecting a professional quality image from a budget lens if so you might

have to find this sweet spot in the aperture or zoom range you might have to

send your lens off to be serviced or you might have to invest in a more expensive

lens if you want to see more videos subscribe and turn on notifications by

clicking on the bell also head over to my channel for more videos and tutorials

I'll see you in the next one

I Went 24hrs Without Touching Plastic. This is What Happened. - Duration: 8:31.

This video is sponsored by Bunz. I'm going to spend the next 24 hours without

touching or using anything made of or containing plastic. 24 hours,

no plastic. But first I need to take this off because it's entirely made of

polyester, and polyester is a type of plastic. And actually my socks, which I

thought were entirely merino wool when I started this, they actually contain a

bunch of nylon which is another type of plastic. Oh, and my pants,

they contain type of elastic fabric that is plastic. Oh and the elastic, I have to..

get rid of these too because they- they're not- they have plastic in them.

okay. Now in order to do this project I need to film it so I'm making an

exception for my camera and for my tripod, both of which are mostly made of

plastic. But I can't use my phone so I'm gonna just do one last thing set an

alarm for tomorrow, save, and take off my glasses which have little things of

plastic on the nose. I'm gonna plug my phone in cuz as of now I have no way of

telling the time. First thing is I got to make myself some socks. The flooring in

my apartment is almost entirely carpet and fake tiles so, both of those are made

mostly of plastic which is why I have set up the longest game of 'the floor is

lava' using these little cotton tea towels which are 100% cotton. I can't use

my refrigerator during this project but here's some food that I can eat. Well it

turns out that reading with a magnifying glass instead of my glasses just gives

me headache so I'm gonna have to get a little more creative with what I'm

to do with my time. It's been just this much candle and I'm already so bored

that I'm doing something I thought I would actually never ever do again in my

life: I'm setting up dominoes. Plastic! By the way all of the plastics that I'm

avoiding in this video we're all made from fossil fuels. It's dinnertime.

I've got canned chili. I also can't cook it um because my stove has plastic

throughout it. I'm going to sleep but I'm not saying that I'm going to bed because

what I'm actually sleeping in is a pile of 100% cotton towels on the floor. It's

gonna be cold and it probably won't be very comfortable but there won't be any

plastic in it. So, I tried making coffee this morning but without a kettle or a

microwave or a coffee machine or a bodem to use (because all of those are plastic)

my coffee was terrible. Ack. But I have a back-up plan.

The floor is lava the floor is lava the floor is lava. This is cold brew coffee,

and this freeze your coffee first thing, it's a trick I figured out before my bio

dome project because I couldn't cook then either and coffee is very important.

most of the water and my house comes through these black PVC these plastic

pipes so I stored up a bunch of water and I've been using that to wash my

hands and to flush the toilet. Luckily my toilet is porcelain but the

seat, the seat is plastic so that's been kind of awkward. I can brush my teeth

with a bamboo and charcoal toothbrush instead of a plastic one. And I can use

baking soda or make my own toothpaste instead of using something that comes in

a plastic tube, and I can floss using silk, but there's a few things that I

just can't get away from. Like, I had cavities a long time ago and now I have

white plastic fillings in my teeth, so I am

always touching plastic. There's another exception that I want to talk about in

a moment. Candle snuffer take 14.. Now I gotta find

something else to do. I can't go outside because in Vancouver the roads are

partly paved with recycled plastic. By now you can probably tell that most of

what you own is made with plastic. Humans are obsessed with the stuff. We make 300

million tons of it every single year and of that 79 percent will eventually

become waste in landfills or in nature like our oceans where scientists predict:

by the year 2050 our oceans may have more plastic in them than fish. There's

already so much plastic waste built up in our oceans that when researchers go

looking for it they can usually find microscopic bits of plastic in sea salt,

the sea salt that you eat. And that brings me to my last exception with this

little project which is that: it's probably in my body. Because when

researchers looked at the stool samples of eight different individuals from

eight different countries, every single one of them had plastic in them. So it's

probably in me and it's probably in you. Now we can make major steps towards

getting rid of plastic without having to live like this. And that's because half

of the plastic we create is made to be used just once,

it's single-use plastic, that needs to stop. There's two things that you can do.

Number one is to take a long hard look at the plastic waste that you create:

figure out whether it's bottles or plastic packaging or bags

and find alternatives. And number two is to push your local governments towards

banning single-use plastics like shopping bags and takeout containers

some of these things are gonna stick around for a thousand years unless we do

something now. Yes! That was 24 hours. While working to reduce the amount of

plastic in my life I recently discovered an online community called Bunz. They

have an app and it's super simple you can post things on there that you no

longer want to use and you can find things on there that you do want to use.

On the very first day that I went on to their app I found these steel tiffins

and I've been looking to buy these already and it was really easy and

message to the person I biked down the street and I made a trade I gave them a

Christmas gift that hadn't even left the box (I won't say from whom) and in

return they gave me these steel tiffins. The whole process was super easy and I

finished that experience thinking, like this is really great... and I should

totally ask Bunz to sponsor me. Their app is entirely free and it makes

trading with people super easy. So, check it out with a link in the description.

There is a new kid on the block. I have added this tropical plant to my robotic

garden because Sir Stabbington the cactus was just getting drowned with

your love. So this new plant needs a name leave a comment in the description and

subscribe to water either of them. Thanks!

Debbie Mucarsel Powell is an immigrant who lost her father to gun violence. Now shes in Congress. - Duration: 7:05.

Debbie Mucarsel Powell is an immigrant who lost her father to gun violence. Now shes in Congress.

"Oh my god. This is powerful," she said in a quiet voice as she approached and saw a crowd gathering. "Im going to cry."

At the center of the crowd was a life sized sculpture of Joaquin Oliver, a teenager killed in at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, nearly a year ago..

For Mucarsel Powell, gun violence is a personal issue.

More than two decades ago, her father, Guido, was shot and killed outside of his home in Ecuador, the country where she was born and grew up before immigrating to the United States as a teenager.

Mucarsel Powell was 24 years old when one of her sisters called to tell her what had happened.

"It was a very traumatic experience. It changed all of us," she said, reflecting on the loss of her father. "You never forget. You learn to live with it, but you dont forget."

When she won her election in the 2018 midterms, Mucarsel Powell as the first Ecuadorian American and the first South American immigrant elected to Congress.

Her life story and in South Florida a community on the front lines of rising sea levels give her a unique set of first hand experiences with a set of issues the new House Democratic majority is on track to spotlight: gun violence, immigration and climate change.

Mucarsel Powell hopes that adding her voice to the contentious debate over those issues and talking about policy through a lens of personal experience she may be able to chip away at or help break the gridlock and partisan battle lines drawn around them.

The congresswoman was recently to the powerful House Judiciary Committee and has said that she plans to use her post to work on gun violence prevention as well as immigration issues. She will have one of her first opportunities to do that this week when the committee holds a hearing on gun violence in America.

Moving from Ecuador to the United States: If you look at my story ... only in this country that happens

Mucarsel Powells parents divorced when she was very young, and she, her mother and her three sisters left Ecuador to move to the United States when she was 14.

Her mother, Himelda, didnt speak English when she first arrived, so she worked during the day and took classes at night and on weekends to learn. Mucarsel Powell lived with her mother and sisters in a one room apartment. At the age of 15, she started working at a doughnut shop while her sisters worked a variety of jobs to help support the family.

"Even though at the beginning it was very difficult, we were welcomed in a way that I think we didnt expect and we called this place our home quickly after that," she said.

"If you look at my story and the things that I was able to achieve ... only in this country that happens," she said. "Only in the United States of America, does an immigrant like myself get that chance."

Mucarsel Powell calls President Donald Trumps attacks on immigrants "offensive" and plans to use her platform to counter the anti immigrant message coming from the White House.

"He loves to talk about us as criminals and people that commit crimes, and its just not true," she said, referring to the President. "Here I am, a member of Congress and an immigrant."

"Its highly offensive, to me, to my mom, to my sisters, to my kids because their mother is an immigrant," she said. "We need to bring a different conversation to the table, and Im glad that I am now here to talk about that. I am an immigrant and how dare you call us criminals."

As a member of Congress, Mucarsel Powell hopes to focus attention on whats happening in Central and South American countries that prompts people to leave their homes and immigrate to the United States. And she wants to push Congress to come up with ways that the US can address that underlying situation in those countries through channels like diplomacy and humanitarian assistance.

"We cant tackle immigration issues here if we are not looking at what is causing these problems in our neighboring countries in South America," she said, adding that she wants to see the US invest "resources, energy and our diplomatic efforts into working closely with governments in Central and South America."

Mucarsel Powell has called for increased humanitarian assistance to the Venezuelan people as the political and economic crisis and has to deliver direct humanitarian aid.

A focus on preventing gun violence: Congress talks and then they take no action

Mucarsel Powell says that she wasnt initially planning to make gun violence a centerpiece of her run for Congress. But that changed about a month after she launched her campaign when a gunman killed more than 50 people at a music festival in Las Vegas, Nevada, .

"Once again, I was reminded that Congress talks and then they take no action," she said, recalling the aftermath of the shooting. "Thats when I decided that I had to share with everyone my personal story and to make the commitment that I was going to take action."

She added, "When you meet others that have lost loved ones, that drives you to take action to do what you can so that no one has to go through what you went through."

Mucarsel Powell isnt the only member of the House Democratic freshman class with a personal story about gun violence. Lucy McBath, who represents Georgias sixth congressional district, was a prominent gun control activist before she was elected to Congress. and killed in 2012 at the age of 17.

"Were becoming very close friends," Mucarsel Powell said of McBath, adding that "it was an emotional day" for both of them when former congresswoman and shooting survivor Gabby Giffords joined House Democrats in early January for the introduction of a universal background checks bill.

Mucarsel Powell believes that the debate over gun violence changed in the aftermath of the Parkland shooting, which led to a wave of youth activism in support of stricter gun control.

"I think that really changed the conversation. People started listening. They created a movement," she said. "These kids, young adults, are holding all of us accountable and they dont care whether youre a Democrat or a Republican."

There is no indication that the Republican controlled Senate will take up a background checks bill or other gun control legislation, but Mucarsel Powell still believes that the new House Democratic majority working alongside activists can be effective in pressuring the Senate to take up legislation like the background checks bill and other measures.

"There are Republicans in the Senate that are paying attention to public sentiment," she said, pointing out that of Americans support expanded background checks. "Thats the way that were going to get something passed in the Senate."

"I am optimistic that its a different time for us as we talk about gun reform," she added.

Pushing for action on climate change: We have to be aggressive. There is no other way.

Mucarsel Powell flipped a congressional seat from red to blue, defeating incumbent Republican Rep. Carlos Curbelo.

But the fact that she represents a swing district hasnt stopped her from signing on in support ofan ambitious policy proposal to tackle climate change championed by liberal activists and progressive freshman Democrat Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.

Floridas 26th congressional district is surrounded by water with the Gulf of Mexico on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other and includes low lying areas like the Everglades that are on the frontlines of rising sea levels.

When asked if she believes her district is ready to embrace something that critics have described as radical, Mucarsel Powell answers in a very matter of fact way.

"We are ground zero for the effects of climate change in my district," she said, "We only have about ten to 12 years to change the direction that were taking as it relates to climate change. We have to be bold. We have to be aggressive. There is no other way."

Adjusting to life in Washington and raising a family while serving in Congress

Now, Mucarsel Powell has to divide her time between South Florida, where her husband and children live, and Washington, DC.

The congresswoman said she considers herself "very lucky" to have found a furnished apartment that was less expensive than many of the apartments she saw on the market. But added, "Its a basement. Its dark and cold, and its hard to be here without my family."

"I think the hardest thing is to be without the kids and my husband," she said.

Mucarsel Powell wants to talk about what its like to be a newly elected member of Congress with young kids and hopes that speaking openly about it will encourage more women to run for office.

She hopes that mothers who are a part of the new freshman class will "show other women who are mothers that theres a way that we can do it."

"Were figuring it out for ourselves. We dont know yet. Were all trying to figure out whats going to be the best schedule for each of us that works for our kids," she said. "My kids are in elementary and middle school and they need me."

Later in the afternoon on the day that she attended the gun control demonstration, Mucarsel Powell was walking through the hallways of the Capitol and talking to an aide when her phone started to ring.

She stopped walking and stepped to the side to answer a FaceTime call from her 13 year old son.

When the call ended, she walked back over and resumed an earlier conversation on how she planned to vote later in the day.

Mucarsel Powell says that she has asked veteran lawmakers like Kathy Castor and Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida and Grace Meng of New York for advice on serving in Congress while also raising kids.

She also says that the diverse class of newly elected women lawmakers are a support network for one another as they all get used to the realities of living in Washington and serving in Congress.

"We share lipstick. We talk about shoes. We share coats. Theres definitely a sense of sisterhood," she said while sitting in front of a desk in her congressional office with a name plate on it that spells out in all capital letters "the future is female."

"Im the youngest of four sisters, and I have always had a lot of strong women around me. So this for me is very comforting," she said, adding, "A lot of us are becoming good friends and helping each other and supporting each other even when we disagree."

opportunities if you go to a company that is so perfect that is so every manager

and every line manager every structure there's nothing for you to do. while if

you worked in a company that has loopholes these loopholes are an opportunity for

Is $500 Enough to Start a Private Label Business - Duration: 4:07.

Hey everybody, Robert Wright here,

private label law attorney.

And today I want to answer a question that was asked by a client the other day,

a really interesting question.

Somebody that's trying to get into Amazon. It was this:

can I start a private label business for $500?

Now, let's think about that question.

So $500, that's all the capital we have to invest.

What do we need to do with that?

Well, we're gonna have to purchase products.

We're going to have to ship them not only over from China,

to the States,

whether that's directly into Amazon or maybe you have a warehouse.

If you go to a warehouse

then you're gonna have to ship inbound from a warehouse into Amazon.

Could you do all that for $500?

I guess you could.

Now, we've left out the education piece.

Do you know how to do all this? Have you taken a course?

Maybe you can solve for that with watching some Youtube videos

or finding someone to help mentor you on the cheap.

So yes, the answer could you start a private label business with $500?

Absolutely could.

Will that be a successful private label business?

It's going to take a long time if it is going to be successful.

Because when you think about it, that breakdown,

that $500 investment

hopefully is going to come back three fold.

Whenever you think about the breakdown of your product cost,

what you can kind of make with an initial investment.

What I typically do is think, okay, well,

$500.

And I know that I'm going to retail for about $1,500.

That landed cost, let's assume the landed cost is $500.

So landed costs would be products plus getting them into Amazon.

If that's $500 I would be looking to retail for 1,500.

Three times that.

And then you have to understand

that the fulfillment fees on Amazon,

if you're doing FBA, are gonna be about a third.

So you're going to put in 500,

you're going to get that 500 back and you're gonna make $500 profit.

So that gives you a 1000 bucks.

Then you can take that thousand dollars and reinvest it

and then do the same process again

and grow and scale. So could you start with $500? Absolutely.

Is it going to take awhile to get to a meaningful income?

And by meaningful income, I mean something more than a side hustle. Absolutely.

One of the biggest things that all counsel clients on is to,

if you're serious about your business, take your business seriously.

This opportunity on Amazon

is no different than given the opportunity to open a store in the mall.

And if you opened the store in the mall,

it'd be difficult to do that on a $500 investment.

Maybe you do one of those little kiosks, maybe you sell just one little product,

but it's probably not bringing in a ton of money.

If you're serious and you really want to grow and scale,

you've got to be purposeful about the capital that you invest in.

So short answer to the question,

can you start a business, the private label business for 500 bucks?

Absolutely can.

Will it be a successful business?

Absolutely. It's just going to take a long time.

How much do you typically need to really start to grow and scale?

Whenever I launch a product at a minimum

I put aside about $1,500.

And that goes to product costs. That goes to shipping,

that goes to product photos that goes to,

if I'm hiring someone to help optimize my listing.

1500 at a minimum, 2,500 is actually better.

I think that gives you the opportunity for a really good product launch.

So, my thoughts to you

is if you're serious about your business, take your business seriously,

save up until you have sufficient funds to be able to capitalize

that initial product launch.

And otherwise, while you're saving that money, learn.

The great courses out there, there's a lot of really good free content on Youtube,

lots of great blog posts. Reddit has some really great channels

with regards to doing FBA.

Check those out

so that when you get products to market,

you're able to grow and scale a little more quicker than you would otherwise.
