As authorities continue looking into the deadly standoff in San Jose, the UPS driver who was held hostage for hours is hailed as a hero by police. Ian Cull reports.

The San Jose police chief on Friday praised the actions of the UPS driver taken hostage by an armed carjacker, who was eventually shot and killed Thursday by authorities on city streets.

The UPS driver purposely drove slowly over spikes to stop the vehicle, according to San Jose Police Chief Eddie Garcia. In order to keep police on their trail, the driver said he told the hijacker that UPS box trucks could only go 50 miles an hour.

"This guys amazing, I really need to give him an application or something," Garcia said at a news conference Friday. "He purposely drove over the spike strips ... they actually wanted him to drive faster and he lied and told them the UPS truck couldn"t go over 50 miles per hour because he didn"t want the police to lose the truck."

The chase began late Thursday afternoon after a sheriff deputy approached a suspicious SUV illegally parking by the Ohlone Chynoweth VTA light rail station.

Mark Morasky and a female suspect identified by police as 24 year old Joanna Macy Rogers were inside the vehicle and they took off as soon as they recognized the approaching deputy. Officers later relocated the vehicle nearby and thats when thewoman fired one shot at the sheriffs deputy vehicle.

Authorities said the woman shot at officers at least three more times during the pursuit along Highway 87.

The SUV exited onCurtner Avenue and the suspects abandoned their vehicle. Thats when they spotted the UPS driver walking, and forced him at gunpoint to get into his box truck and drive, according to Garcia.

San Jose police then joined sheriffs deputies in the chase. The UPS driver eventually took the exit on Skyport Drive and the pursuit turned into an intense standoff on North First Street and Trimble Road.

A dispatch call from thestandoffconfirmed what friends of the suspect told law enforcement officials, that he didnt want to live through the confrontation with officers.

"The suspect also said that he wanted to die tonight," an officer can be heard telling the dispatch center in the call before Morasky was eventually shot and killed by police after he ran from aUPS truck he allegedly hijacked with a shotgun.

Several of Moraskys friends had been talking with him on the phone, trying to calm the situation.

"He was scared," friend Amanda Bazzani said. "He called me and said, I love you, Im in a standoff. And then he was saying goodbye, and I was like, No, no, dont say that."

Macy Rogers was released from the UPS box truck and taken into custody, according to officials. The unidentified UPS driver who was taken hostage was safely released.

Chief Garcia said Macy Rogers was charged withattempted murder, car jacking, kidnapping and shooting at occupied vehicles.

Morasky ran out of the truck with a shotgun and was shot by a San Jose police officer. Investigators later made a grim discovery in the SUV Morasky and Macy Rogers were driving. "They had the loaded shotgun of course, additional shotgun shells, but also duct tape, a machete and zip ties." Sheriff Laurie Smith said.

Morasky was on parole from armed robbery and carjacking charges. He was sentenced to five years in prison, and served four years in 2012, according to Garcia.

The officer who shot and killed Morasky has been placed on paid administrative leave. Internal Affairs and the District Attorneys office continue to investigate the incident.

Melrose Place actress to serve more time for fatal crash

SSOMERVILLE, N.J. AP — A former Melrose Place actress was sentenced Friday to more prison time for a fatal 2010 auto accident by a judge who appeared at times reluctant to follow the guidelines set by an appeals court that had ruled her initial sentence and a second sentence were too lenient.

Amy Locane was given five years behind bars, but likely will serve about 20 months if her next appeal fails, her attorney, James Wronko, said afterward. Locane left court without commenting to reporters and is seeking to be free on bail pending her appeal.

She served about two and a half years of a three year sentence before her 2015 release and has completed a three year parole term.

State Superior Court Judge Kevin Shanahan appeared to be sympathetic to Wronkos argument that double jeopardy should apply and void the resentencing, but ultimately he followed the appellate courts instructions. He praised fellow judge Robert Reed, who imposed the initial sentences, as a respected jurist, but said Reed "made two very serious mistakes here and all have suffered for it."

An appeals court ordered Locane to be resentenced after determining the sentences imposed by Reed were insufficient for the crash that killed 60 year old Helene Seeman and seriously injured Seemans husband, Fred Seeman. Locane smashed into their SUV as they were turning not their driveway.

Locanes blood alcohol level was likely about three times the legal limit for driving at the time of the crash, according to a state expert.

"There is not a day that has gone by that I have not thought of the pain that my actions caused the Seeman family and of course Helene Seeman," Locane said in court Friday. "I have worked very hard to correct that behavior and not be that person who did that on that day."

Locane, who was convicted of vehicular manslaughter and other offenses, had faced up to 10 years on the most serious count.

Fred Seeman sobbed as he told the judge how the crash ripped his family apart and how he nearly died from his injuries. He lashed out at Reed for "elevating the suffering of defendants children above what we have suffered and continue to suffer."

Reed had cited Locanes young children, including one daughter diagnosed with Crohns disease, as a mitigating factor in his sentencing. Locanes defense contended the crash was an accident and that a third motorist, whose car the actress had bumped into at a traffic light before the accident, distracted her by honking at her and chasing her after being rear ended.

Though the indictment charging Locane didnt mention intoxication, a state expert testified her blood alcohol level was likely three times the legal limit for driving, and that she was speeding about 53 mph in a 35 mph zone at the time of the crash.

A jury acquitted her of aggravated manslaughter, but convicted her of the lesser offense of vehicular manslaughter — a second degree crime that carries a maximum 10 year sentence. But Reed downgraded that to a third degree offense and imposed the lightest sentence available.

That prompted an appeals court in 2016 to order a resentencing. The panel instructed Reed to offer additional justification for his decision to downgrade the charge.

After Reed gave Locane essentially the same prison sentence in 2017, an appeals court wrote last year that the sentence was a hairs breath away from illegal, and ordered the lower court to try yet again.

Locane acted in 13 episodes of the popular Fox series and also appeared in several movies, including Cry Baby with Johnny Depp.

John Hartson slammed during Newport vs Man City for BT Sport commentary COCK-UP - Duration: 2:03.

Hartson was co-commentating on the FA Cup fifth-round clash at Rodney Parade today

Manchester City headed into the clash as firm favourites against League Two side Newport

City manager Pep Guardiola named a strong XI for the clash, including Ederson between the sticks

The 25-year-old Brazilian has played 38 games for club and country already this season

But despite his almost constant presence in the Manchester City squad, it didn't stop Hartson accidentally getting his name wrong

The former striker called him Emerson on a number of occasions during commentary

And fans were not happy with the gaffe! One fan tweeted: "Why is John Hartson calling him "Emerson"?" Another put: "I've heard some bad co-commentaries before but John Hartson is taking the biscuit here tonight

Absolutely hopeless" A third tweeted: "So we've got Emerson in net and Davinson Silva in midfield for Man City tonight according to John Hartson

" And a fourth said: "Some save that from Ederson. Someone please tell John Hartson that his name isn't Emerson ffs" And a fifth joked: "Before social media I wouldn't have been able to confirm that John Hartson keeps calling Ederson 'Emerson' and would have thought my ears were waxed up again

" Newport put in a battling display to take City into the break at 0-0. Earlier in the day Millwall had beaten AFC Wimbledon 1-0, while Brighton knocked out Derby 2-1

This Fan-Favorite Express Button-Up Is on Sale for Under $20 - US News - Duration: 5:07.

When it comes to building an error-proof wardrobe of everyday essentials, we can't help but recommend that shoppers err on side of basic Any fashion lover will agree that a strong closet is filled with a handful of options that can be styled five days in a row, but five different ways Sure they're called basic, but let's be blunt, they're anything but Who said basic had to be boring? Not Us!  We've found the most versatile staple for work, play and everything in between: a button-up shirt    The Solid City Shirt by is an effortlessly chic button-up and the intersection where professional polish meets silky-smooth Shoppers can expect the city shirt to be the ultimate wear to work staple that is simple yet sophisticated from 9-5 but just as clean and cool for after work Now let's be honest, how many shirts can do all of that, all at once? Not many  The reason this city shirt is so endlessly chic and versatile? The design that pays homage to classic tailoring The city shirt is detailed with a point collar and button front It instantly makes us think of our father's tried-but-true work shirts The long convertible sleeves include roll-tabs, button cuffs, as well as a flap chest pocket So simple, yet sophisticated!  We can't help but already love all this shirt has to offer, but above all, we can't help but love the fact it is semi-sheer It truly just continues to pull back its layers and layers of endless versatility It not only checks all of the boxes in terms of the traditional button-up but goes above and beyond with this added extra  The ever-so-sheer fabric adds a feminine and delicate detail, which differentiates itself from the other traditional shirts  Instead, the sheer material gives a light airy look for all of the different color options available It's just enough, without being too much    The only thing we love more than how endlessly chic the city shirt is? The four shades which include Midnight Rust (a dark rustic red shade), Misty Lilac (a bright lilac-purple hue), Pitch Black and Soft Ivory (a subtle off-white/beige shade) These options make styling the city shirt as easy breezy as this is to wear  We can't help but automatically be drawn to the anything but basic black shade for obvious reasons Shoppers looking to loosen their buttons (no pun intended) will absolutely love styling this piece Automatically we can't help but state the obvious of how fabulous this would be paired with a leather miniskirt and thigh-high boots for an edgy look!  Not so daring? 'Teen Mom 2': Briana DeJesus' Daughter Stella, 1, Undergoes Emergency Surgery For Bacterial Infectio - Duration: 3:07.

Briana DeJesus' baby girl, Stella, is hospitalized in the upcoming episode of 'Teen Mom OG,' and her mom frets over the scary condition that doctors have to 'monitor' in the one-year-old child

Briana DeJesus, 24, deals with a mother's worst nightmare in the Feb. 18 episode of Teen Mom 2: her child getting sick

"A few days ago I noticed Stella was having trouble moving her arm, so I took her to the hospital," Stella says in the sneak peek clip below

Sadly, the MTV star reveals her one-year-old daughter, Stella, had a "serious bacterial infection" that required "an emergency surgery

" Specifically, Stella had septic arthritis in her joint and shoulder, which Briana's mom, Roxanne, reveals in a phone call with Briana's sister Brittany afterwards

By then the surgery is complete, but Stella still has to stay in the hospital for a "few days," and perhaps even be on antibiotics for "a month or two

"    Stella's older sister Nova, 7, is upset, and asks her grandma how much longer her baby sister will stay in the hospital

Our hearts broke. You can watch the full clip for the next Teen Mom 2 episode below! Thankfully, the surgery turned out to be a success…but the situation could've turned out much differently

The episode was actually taped in Aug. 2018, and Briana explained what led up to the sudden hospitalization

"Stella was sick a week prior with a fever of 104," the reality television star told Us Weekly after the surgery

Upon noticing that Stella had issues with moving her arm, Briana "thought maybe she had an accident at daycare

"  As for how the baby developed septic arthritis, "the doctor said nobody really knows how one gets it," but Briana told the outlet that "a simple bug bite or scratch can open up flesh and bacteria can travel

" Learning that surgery was necessary made Stella break down "in tears," and the whole ordeal was traumatizing — "She was under sedation for four hours and I couldn't do anything but just wait

" Luckily, Briana's a great mom and brought her baby to the professionals, "as the infection could have grown and entered her bloodstream and she could have become extremely sick…she could have possibly died," Briana revealed

So scary. Stella has made a wonderful recovery since, as she was pictured happily smiling with Nova on Valentine's Day, as seen on their mom's Instagram! And it looks like they won't be expecting a third sibling to join their sister hangouts anytime soon — Briana shot down pregnancy rumors in Nov

2018.

Man City News - John Hartson slammed during Newport vs Man City for BT Sport commentary COCK-UP - Duration: 1:22.

Melrose Place actress Amy Locane sentenced to additional prison time for fatal drunk driving acciden - Duration: 2:01.

Melrose Place actress Amy Locane sentenced to additional prison time for fatal drunk driving acciden

Melrose Place actress Amy Locane — who served more than two years behind bars after being convicted in a fatal 2010 drunk driving accident in New Jersey — is facing additional prison time for the offense.

A Somerset County Superior Court judge re sentenced Locane to five years in prison on Friday.

Her attorney, James Lonko, said Locane would likely only serve a year and a half behind bars if she loses an appeal.

The 47 year old actress was originally in prison for the crash that left a woman, Helene Seeman, dead and her husband, Fred Seeman, badly injured nearly nine years ago. She served two and a half years of that sentence and was released in 2015.

A state attorney contends the TV stars blood alcohol concentration was likely around three times the legal limit when the accident took place.

Her new prison sentence comes after an appeals court said she needed to be re sentenced because the initial penalty handed down to her was not enough.

Locane, who appeared on 13 episodes of Melrose Place, said during her appearance in court Friday, There is not a day that has gone by that I have not thought of the pain that my actions caused the Seeman family and of course Helene Seeman.

She continued, "I have worked very hard to correct that behavior and not be that person who did that on that day."

Fred, meanwhile, was moved to tears as he addressed the court Friday. He spoke about the serious injuries he sustained in the crash, and how it tore his family apart.
