Stacey Abrams Says Voter Fraud Is a Myth - Duration: 4:01.

-You lost a very closely contested election,

an election in which there were, you know, limited access to

polling places, closed polling places,

polling places closing early.

It seems as though, and, you know,

I'm not trying to be unfair to Republicans,

but it seems as though Democrats want more people to vote

and Republicans want the opposite.

-Well, Mitch McConnell told us that he thought more people

being able to vote was a power grab

because more people who want power don't have it.

And if we grab it from them, they're not getting it back.

-So, you have this organization now, Fair Fight.

Do you feel optimistic that we're going to move to a place

where more people are, you know, enfranchised?

-Yeah, so, I think we have to think about it this way.

Republicans have talked about voter fraud,

which is largely a myth.

But they've talked about it for so long, with such energy,

that we take it as a truth.

Those of us of good heart and good conscience

and true democratic belief, and I mean small "D" democratic,

we know voter suppression is real but we never talk about it.

We take it for granted.

My belief is that by calling it out

and by using my non-concession speech

and my since actions to demonstrate

that we can fight back,

that we can actually reclaim our democracy.

We've been practicing democracy for a really long time.

America gets it right most of the time,

but when we stumble, it is really bad.

And my belief is that we've got enough of us of good conscience

who will fight to make it better.

We just have to have someone willing to talk about it

so we know that we have a rallying cry

and we have an opportunity.

I got really close. -You got really close.

[ Cheers and applause ]

You got really close and it was a historic,

even with all the suppression,

it was a historic turnout for a midterm election.

-Yes.

-And you did not -- when last you were here,

you were talking about you were not out to flip Trump voters.

You were out to encourage people who never voted before to vote.

Do you feel like that should be, as we go into 2020,

do you think that -- do you feel good about that message?

-Absolutely. Look, my numbers when I saw you in June,

we wanted to hit -- we wanted 1.5 million people to vote.

We got 1.9 million. So we really did good.

-Yeah. [ Cheers and applause ]

-But what undergirded that is

that we tripled the number of Latinos.

We tripled the number of Asian Pacific Islanders.

We increased youth participation rates by 139%.

1.2 million African-Americans voted for me.

1.1 million Democrats voted in 2014.

We know that if you talk to communities

that are normally ignored

and if you fight for their right to vote,

you can win elections.

You just can't have someone acting as the referee,

the umpire, and the scorekeeper also as your opponent.

-Yes, because your opponent was the Secretary of State who was,

of course, in charge of voting.

-Yes. [ Laughter ]

A little flaw in my process. [ Laughter ]

Everything else worked like we thought.

-Absolutely.

Well, I hope your process will continue.

Of course, one of the things you did

that I hope the people in your state will never forget,

you brought Oprah -- -I did.

-And Oprah went and canvassed voters.

And I'd like to finish --

Oprah Winfrey actually went and knocked on doors.

-Yes.

-And for people who are wondering,

how would you react if that happened to you?

Here's a clip.

-Oh!

[ Laughter ]

Oh, my God!

-Hi, Denise. -Hi, Oprah.

-I think -- I mean, I hope you got her vote.

-Oh, God, yeah. -Yeah, yeah.

-No, no, no, because they'll accuse me of voter fraud.

She lives in Illinois. -Yeah.

-But she really helped -- Oh, you mean the young woman.

-Yeah. -Yes. Yes.

-Okay, got it. Oprah would never.

Because she is not registered in Georgia.

-Exactly. -Thank you.

There we are. Because fair is fair, right?

Fair is fair. -In fact, we won a fair fight.

-Yeah. There you go. -Dot com.

-Hey, thank you so much for being here.

It is always such a pleasure to see you.

Bill Clinton is comforter in chief at John Dingells Washington D.C. funeral Daily Mail Online - Duration: 8:34.

Bill Clinton is comforter in chief at John Dingells Washington D.C. funeral Daily Mail Online

Longtime Rep. John Dingell was remembered Thursday as one of the greats as lawmakers and former colleagues hailed his record breaking service in the House.

The 92 year old Dingell who died last week, served 59 years in Congress, longer than anyone else in U.S. history. The Michigan Democrat was the longtime chairman of the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Many of the laws forged over the past 60 years reflect Dingells influence, former House Speaker John Boehner and other speakers said, and touch on everything from health care to the environment, civil rights and the auto industry, which Dingell fiercely defended throughout his tenure.

John Dingell was one of the greats, the gentleman from Michigan, the dean of the House, the chairman, said Boehner, R Ohio.

Rep. Fred Upton, who followed Dingell as Energy and Commerce chairman, called Dingell Mr. Michigan, and said Dingells love of his home state was unmatched. Upton, a Michigan Republican, recalled Dingells famous remark about the committee: If it moves, its energy. If it doesnt its commerce. We had the world.

Former President Bill Clinton said the funeral at Holy Trinity Catholic Church marked one of the few times anyone in attendance could be in the same room with Dingell and get the last word.

Mourning: Debbie Dingell center was flanked by Bill and Hillary Clinton at the Washington D.C. funeral for her husband John

Public comfort: Bill Clinton hugged Debbie Dingell at the funeral services for her husband John, who died last week. He was the longest serving Congressman in history with 59 years in the House

Reaching out: Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton shared the front seat at the funeral with Debbie Dingell, who now represents her late husbands district, which runs from the west of Detroit to Ann Arbor, MI

Comfort: Steny Hoyer, the second most powerful Democrat in the House was also one of the speakers at the funeral and hugged Debbie Dingell after his address

Wit and wisdom: Bill Clinton said that the funeral for John Dingell was likely to be the only time that those present would get the last word over the congressman

Tribute:  John Dingell was about the best do er in the history of American public life, Clinton said, citing Dingells role in a host of landmark laws, including the creation of Medicare and Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, Endangered Species Act, Clear Air Act and many others.

Farewell: Bill Clinton touches John Dingells casket after speaking at Holy Trinity Church at the congressmans funeral mass

Service: John Dingell represented the same district known most recently as the 12th for 59 years. It was represented by his father, John Dingell Sr. before him and is now held by his widow Debbie

Among the mourners: Lynda Carter, who played Wonder Woman, was in the church for the funeral for John Dingell. She is a longtime Democratic supporter

Final farewell: Bill Clinton was at Debbie Dingells side as the coffin was readied to be taken from the church, and walked out arm in arm with his wife Hillary

Support: Debbie Dingell followed her husbands casket with Bill Clinton supporting her on her left and Hillary Clinton on her right

Moment of levity: Hillary Clinton and Debbie Dingell found a moment of humor in Bills address in tribute to John Dingell

Procession: An Army honor guard prepare to take the casket of John Dingell from Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with Bill Clinton preparing to escort Debbie Dingell, his widow

Final moments: John Dingells flag draped casket was taken from Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Georgetown, Washington D.C., by an honor guard, before burial at Arlington National Cemetery

Tribute: Bill Clinton led mourners in saluting as John Dingells casket left for burial at Arlington National Cemetery

Blessing: Bill Clinton received a blessing during holy communion from the principal celebrant of John Dingells requiem

Comfort: Speaker Nancy Pelosi was among the mourners for John Dingell and spoke to members of his family at Holy Trinity Church, in Georgetown, Washington D.C.

Heavyweights: Among those at the requiem mass were from left Democrats Steny Hoyer, the Democratic majority leader in the House; John Lewis, the Georgia Congressman and civil rights icon; Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker; and John Boehner, the former Republican Speaker

Also mourning: Freshmen members of the Democratic caucus in the House were present including Rashida Tlaib, who represents a Michigan seat; and firebrand social media star Alexandria Ocasio Cortez

Final farewell: An Army honor guard carry the remains of John Dingell to the hearse which will take his casket to Arlington National Cemetery

While Dingell served for nearly six decades, it was what he did while in Congress that matters more, Clinton said.

John Dingell was about the best do er in the history of American public life, Clinton said, citing Dingells role in a host of landmark laws, including the creation of Medicare and Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, Endangered Species Act, Clear Air Act and many others.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, a close friend, called the 6 foot 3 Dingell larger than life and said he was imposing and even intimidating.

He was our very own Big John, Hoyer said, noting that while sometimes acerbic, Dingell was as tender as he was tenacious and he became a dear friend.

About 800 people attended a service Tuesday in Dearborn, Michigan, where Dingell lived.

Tribute: Democratic majority leader Steny Hoyer was one of those delivering a eulogy for the late Congressman

Shes running too: New York junior senator Kirsten Gillibrand was among the mourners for the longest serving congressman in history

Arriving: Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, the freshman Democratic congresswoman from New York, was among the mourners

Kady McDermott is DROPPED by her clothing brand after calling Maria Fowlers daughter, two, vile Da - Duration: 3:05.

Kady McDermott is DROPPED by her clothing brand after calling Maria Fowlers daughter, two, vile Da

Former  star Kady McDermott has been dropped by her clothing brand and faced a torrent of abuse after she called Maria Fowlers two year old daughter vile.

Bosses at Missy Empire took to Instagram hours after the spat to announce that the 23 year old Love Island cast member, who locked horns with the glamour model over their respective interior design pages, has been dropped.

The following day Kady took to Instagram to share a public apology in which she revealed she had faced horrific reaction from trolls, who had wished cancer on her, expressed wishes for her unborn child to die and urged her to commit suicide.

Shocking: Former TOWIE star Kady McDermott has been dropped by her clothing brand and faced a torrent of abuse after she called Maria Fowlers two year old daughter vile

Kady and Maria first came to blows when the starlet launched her new page on Instagram which is designed to document the renovations she is undertaking with her beau as she described the page as: Renovating a bungalow into a 4 bed house.

Maria has had her own page called Project In A Village, which many people pointed out is very similar to Our Village Home leading to the row between the duo.

Kicking off the public argument, Maria, who shot to fame on the first series of the ITVBe show in 2010 before departing the following year, took to her Instagram stories to confirm she was aware of the existence of the page.

It seems Maria then privately approached Kady, as she messaged her on Instagram to settle things, during which she shared a back and forth which ended in a crescendo when Kady penned: Your daughter is vile.

Oh my: Bosses at Missy Empire took to Instagram hours after the spat to announce that the 23 year old Love Island cast member, who locked horns with the glamour model over their respective interior design pages, has been dropped

Oh no: The 23 year old Love Island cast member locked horns with the glamour model over their respective interior design pages, after Kady and her boyfriend Myles Barnetts new page Our Village Project was likened to Marias page Project In A Village

After the announcement, Kady responded the following day, writing: Im only human and naturally I make mistakes on temporary based emotions and being in the public eye unfortunately every single one of my mistakes gets put out there to the world...

Forever getting judged for every step I take/do in life takes its toll. I privately messaged Maria yesterday my apology but as its everywhere I will do a public one too. I am deeply sorry to Maria, her partner and of course gorgeous Evie...

I did not mean what I said. I was massively upset Marias comments to me that made me feel SO upset beyond words and a degrade to my character I then wanted to hurt her where it hurt too so I reacted irrationally and badly...

Way back when: Maria shot to fame on the first series of the ITVBe show in 2010 before departing the following year pictured on the show

I instantly regretted and deleted the comment straight away but sadly the damage was already done. I am reactive at times but I am not evil or a bad person. I am 23, still have a lot to learn in life with how to control situations better...

I forever learning and continuing to control stations better. I am forever learning and continuing to grow as a person and will not let my mistakes define me but just give me the space to grow into a better woman.

P.S. abuse my appearance personality of it makes you all better but please stop with the "go hang yourself"  comments and "I hope you get cancer" and "I hope your future children die in your arms" comments....

Behind this Instagram profile I am a real human too with emotions and theres only so much I can take without it having long term effect on myself friends, boyfriend and family.

The previous day, Kadys representatives said in a statement: The comment was made in the heat of the moment after she was being verbally name called by Maria. She deleted the comment within a second and as soon as she said it instantly regretted it and apologised to Maria...

There is no excuse for that comment at all, she is deeply sorry and did not mean it. It was a comment in a second of anger.

Shortly after releasing her statement, Kady then shared a host of snaps from her past work at an animal sanctuary seemingly shirking the comments.

Hardship: Shortly after releasing her statement, Kady then shared a host of snaps from her past work at an animal sanctuary seemingly shirking the comments

Rowing: Maria has had her own page called Project In A Village, which many people pointed out is very similar to Our Village Home leading to the row between the duo

Despite Kadys words, Maria insisted she had not apologised and was sharing the images as a ploy. She wrote: For the record Kady hasnt apologised as I wont accept an apology, no one calls my little girl vile and then gets to apologise and me to remove my posts via her agent...

Posting "me me me" pics of animal charity work to distract from that fact that this morning you abused a 2 year old with vile language. So vain and transparent.

Following her impassioned message, Maria then told MailOnline: It disappointing to see somebody who has openly spoken about trolling making derogatory comments about my two year old daughter...

What happens between adults is one thing. I dont condone abuse against children in any form.

Shame: Kady McDermott if your dad reads what you wrote about my daughter Im sure hed be ashamed of you. Your vile pea head

Happy families: Marias partner and Evies dad Kelvin Batey wrote: No matter how many followers Evie has in the future, how much money she has or if shes ever considered famous Id be so ashamed if she ever called any child vile

Maria put on a furious display as she wrote on Instagram: When you truly have something worth living for, thats when life begins...

There is no love like the love for your little one s . Say what you like to me but dont come at my daughter or I will come at you she is the most innocent gentle little soul I have ever met...

She has more decorum than half the people Ive met off reality tv whos only focus in life is pouting and pretending theyre rich and flashing fake designer bags about on IG. Its all an illusion. not all of you off tv btw .

Marias partner and Evies dad Kelvin Batey wrote: No matter how many followers Evie has in the future, how much money she has or if shes ever considered famous Id be so ashamed if she ever called any child vile.

Kady McDermott if your dad reads what you wrote about my daughter Im sure hed be ashamed of you. Your vile pea head.

Unbelievable! After 5 years, the government is only funding 2/3 of the work needed at Dawlish - Duration: 2:10.

Hello Plymouth, Luke Pollard here I'm your Member of Parliament. After what seems like an

eternity Chris Grayling, the hapless Transport Secretary, has finally announced

some money for Dawlish. He's announced £80 million for the first and second

phases of the upgrade at Dawlish. But not the third phase. Only two-thirds of this

scheme is being funded by this government, which means we still need

more money, another announcement to get the full scheme of work delivered. It

should not have taken this long. We should have had a fully funded project.

This two-thirds funding isn't good enough. Why doesn't the Transport

Secretary get it? We need to have a fully funded Dawlish upgrade. That means not

only strengthening the the sea walls to stop the track being washed away but

also strengthening the cliffs to stop the rock slides that block our train

line just as much as the destruction from the sea. When we have an entire

region stuffed full of Conservative MPs you have to ask why is it taken five

years since the storms at Dawlish to get only £80 million. London is getting

billions of pounds for new tube lines. Nearly £65 billion is being spent

on HS2 connecting London to the Midlands and the North. But in the far

southwest when our train line is being washed away, when we know CrossCountry

can't get their trains through Dawlish in bad weather, it's taken us half a

decade to only get two-thirds of this essential work funded. This isn't good

enough. This isn't good enough from this Transport Secretary and I think he knows

it. But this isn't good enough for our region's Tory MPs. Now today I suspect

many of those Tory MPs will say it's good news. This is a job half done. This

is a job only two-thirds funded and it still needs more work. I'm going to

challenge our Tory MPs not to swallow this half delivered project. We need to

have a fully funded project at Dawlish and that's what I'm going to continue

campaigning for. Thanks very much Plymouth, see you soon.

US China trade deal may not be the catalyst the market is expecting - Duration: 3:39.

US China trade deal may not be the catalyst the market is expecting

Market strategists and policymakers are putting too much emphasis on a , and its quite likely that whatever is agreed will disappoint.

Even the most optimistic assumptions are unlikely to change the trend of weak global growth.

There is a problem of diagnosis. The current economic slowdown is not entirely due to the trade tensions between the United States and China, but mostly due to a combination of debt saturation and end of cycle signals. These were quite evident in China months before any tariffs were announced.

The diminishing returns of the Chinese and euro zone stimulus plans have been clear since the end of 2016 and 2017, respectively. In the case of emerging economies, the 2018 weakness was just the result of years of building fiscal and trade imbalances betting on a constantly weakening dollar and low rates.

The main reason why economies are slowing down is fundamentally the result of the debt excess of the past years, not trade wars. With global debt rising above , and very low productivity growth in developed countries, its not surprising that additional units of debt fail to deliver the expected growth, while excess capacity hinders investment and trade.

Low interest rates and high liquidity have also generated collateral damages. A recent study by the National Bureau of Economic Research concludes that aggressive monetary policies lead to "rising market concentration, reduced dynamism, a widening productivity gap between industry leaders and followers, and slower productivity growth."

Another negative side effect is the rise of zombie companies, those that cannot cover interest expenses with operating profits for an extended period of time. According to Ryan Banerjee, an economist at the Bank of International Settlements, the percentage of zombie firms has risen to multi year highs.

We must also understand that the concerns about liquidity created a large impact in global markets, as investors worried about central banks normalizing policy. 2018 was the first year in which global money supply fell after years of exceptionally high growth. Central banks have changed their communication to a more dovish tone, but this is not necessarily going to prevent a change of economic cycle, rather the opposite. Failure to normalize sends a message of deteriorating economic signals.

These issues are unlikely to end due to a trade deal. Cycles change. Chinas slowdown was inevitable and a reduction in U.S. growth estimates is logical after the longest expansion in history.

Remember that the same reason why tariffs had a relatively small impact on the global economy shows why a new trade agreement is unlikely to change the current trend. Those tariffs affected a relatively small proportion of the global economy.

A new trade deal will probably have a marginal effect on the Chinese and U.S. economies.

China is still in the process of opening its economy, and its main challenges remain: An excessively indebted model, large overcapacity and persistent capital controls. The United States can put pressure on China to import more, but there is little evidence that the Asian giants purchases are less than it needs. If anything, inventories show the opposite. It is rather difficult to envision a drastic change in the trade balance between the two countries and even less an important net change in total trade.

Market sentiment is improving as news of a trade summit hit the headlines, but if there was a radical change in trade dynamics it would have already been leaked. Sentiment may have driven a significant recovery in cyclical stocks, emerging markets and the price of commodities, but the fundamentals of supply, demand, trade and economic growth may see little to no impact from a trade deal.

U.S. Treasury and German sovereign bond yields have been falling while the U.S. dollar was quietly strengthening despite dovish central banks and rumors of an imminent trade deal. What does this tell us? Possibly, that the real impact of a trade deal is negligible and that disinflation and low global growth risks remain.
