(upbeat music)

- Do you get writer's block?

What do you do if it's just a song

just isn't working for you?

- My thing is basically purely collaborative,

because I rarely sit down and write by myself

at a piano, you know, usually I'm producing an artist

and sometimes you're there to give a lot of the song,

sometimes you're there just to help

with a few lyrics, being a bouncing board,

give a few chords, help finish the next line.

So I only know that side of it.

- Do they spark you?

DO they spark stuff in you?

- They do absolutely spark and like for better

or for worse, the best songs come

when you're going through a trying time.

Really, that's what I find.

And luckily life will always find a way

to deal you a shit hand every now and then.

So I feel like that's the good thing about it.

Like you'll never get the well won't run dry,

because I feel like you always have

those kinds of life experiences

and in that place whether it's like an Amy Winehouse,

or whoever it is, like I get to sort of tap

into their well of giant emotion for a little while

and sometimes it's not even fair,

because I'm going along for the ride on their horrible,

tragic life experiences, because that's my job

to make the best song that I can with them

and I didn't have to necessarily

even go through half of that stuff.

But I think that that's what keeps me

every new project, like, just rejuvenates me,

because I'm always getting into somebody else's,

sort of, life experience and then seeing

how it matches up with my own.

- Working with Gaga on the Shallow, you know,

I know you'd worked with her on Joanne before,

and it's a little more of the natural, I guess,

version of her.

How did the two of you sort of come to that song?

- She was obviously writing as Ally.

You know, she had that character.

She knew that that's what she wanted to do.

You can't help but tap into your own emotion.

Like I feel like if you're just writing a song

like specifically for the character and only doing that,

then you're almost just like completing a task.

But like if you want to get emotion that obviously,

everybody even if you're writing for the film,

is drawing from something in their own life

and that's what kind of makes people feel it

in the gut when hear that song.

So, that's kind of where I think it was half and half.

Well, I can only speak for myself,

but I know she was writing for Ally

and you know, this was supposed to be, I guess,

we'd probably imagine it was the end credit song.

We had no idea at the time, it was going to become

this part of the narrative.

But the way that, that's everybody's,

for lack of a better word, everybody's shit,

and life experience, and trials, and tribulations.

Just kind of in that song and being channeled,

but for this one person to sing in the film.

- Weren't you proud of the job she did?

- I couldn't believe it.

Like, when you have somebody like that

that you can write a really good song.

That's subjective, but when you have a brilliant filmmaker

and this performance.

Like it is just like giving your song the biggest,

to give it a, call it a leg up,

is the biggest understatement of all time.

- I loved it.

I loved it, I thought she did a great job.

- Yeah, I remember leaving actually I saw early cut

and the first time I saw that Bradley

had worked the song into the script

and I couldn't wait to leave, because I couldn't wait

to call my friends and be like,

"You guys aren't going to fucking believe

"when you see this song like what it's become."

You're going to be able to pay your rent for three months,

and like whatever else.

- What a great thing.

(laughing)

(upbeat music)

- So artists are often influenced

by the current political climate.

I'm curious, how are you feeling about the climate

we're living in now and how is that inspiring your work?

- You can only really write what genuinely comes out

of you I feel like and if that is your leaning.

For me, I'm actually probably the only person

who's not really a lyricist, like I write music

so I try and let my political,

whether it's supporting swing left or whatever it is,

and putting it on my records or, that's what I can do.

I mean it fills the small drop in the bucket

compared to what you've done.

You know, the Bay Area was obviously

the most politically outspoken

of all of early hip hop movements as well.

So it's like, I guess I just, I'm sort of envious

of what you guys have been able to do

and I just try and find my way in

or whatever I feel I can do that's appropriate.

(upbeat music)

- How has music saved you in your own life?

- I actually don't really go to happy music.

I guess, I don't know how you guys are,

but I always find myself like if I'm in a depressed state,

I actually want to listen to sad songs.

I want to feel like someone understands me,

not 'cause I want to wallow in it,

but you just want to be like--

- Misery loves company.

- Or someone has it worse than you somewhere.

(laughing)

- Listen to the blues, it's good for ya.

- Yeah, so I think it's like I'm kind of sort of

known for making this slightly

like you're oppressively happy music

which is so like crazy when I just,

obviously like Uptown Funk is a bit of an anomaly,

but like all I do is just get pictures and videos

from my friends and their two year old kids

and they love it.

And they're like, they played it

at the wedding and we love it.

And I would actually never listen to a song

like Uptown Funk by myself.

I'm so proud of it and it's amazing,

but every now and then I'll go,

I will be in a shitty mood and hear a song

that just makes me absolutely joyous like Stevie Wonder,

I Believe When I Fall In Love with you,

it'll be forever or something like that.

And then I'm like, oh now I realized

what people feel like when they tell me

that this song took them out of like a shitty mood,

'cause then you're like right there.

Because you take it for granted,

because that's what we are lucky enough to do

for a living and elevate people

depending on the kind of music you make.

And then every now and then when you end up,

it's like Superman 2 when you're on the other side

of the glass and you get the powers taken away,

and you're like oh I'm that guy now

and I need that song.

It was quite a lovely thing.

It reminds you why you have a job.

Lumenium Uses Metal 3D Printing for Rapid Prototyping - Duration: 1:31.

Hi My name is Allison Schuster and I'm a Senior Customer Success Manager here

at Desktop Metal. In this video, we're going to take a quick look at how one

company uses the Studio System in order to rapidly prototype engine parts in

order to save time and money. Lumenium is a Virginia based start-up. Developing

an innovative internal combustion engine and they're seeking a faster, more

cost-effective approach to prototyping engine parts. Rapid prototyping is an

important activity for many companies but it's particularly important for

startups. For Lumenium, the ability to quickly iterate on designs and new

features is crucial for optimizing engine performance. But performing

frequent design iterations can increase the length of the product development

cycle and delay the time to market. For Lumenium. the product development

process is about three and a half years. There's concept development, detailed

design, fabricating and iterating and building and testing. Lumenium needs to

make prototype parts in each of these stages of the product development

process and they can do this with the Studio System. Here are three engine

parts that were prototypes using the Studio System. There's a connecting rod,

two swing arms, and a saddle. Lumenium estimates that in-house metal 3D printing

on the Studio System could reduce the product development cycle by about 25%,

that means taking that three and a half year process down to just two years and

nine months.

6 Superfoods for a Healthy Prostate - Duration: 8:34.

6 Superfoods for a Healthy Prostate.

The prostate, which is part of the male reproductive system, is a gland that surrounds the bladder

and urethra.

It is about the size of a walnut and grows throughout a man's life.

As you age, it's important to maintain a healthy prostate.

The gland can become enlarged, and prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in

men.

There's no definitive evidence that good nutrition can prevent prostate problems, but

eating a healthy balanced diet may reduce your risk.

"Building a meal and snack around veggies and fruit is a smart idea for health in general,

and particularly a healthy prostate," says Chris Mohr, PhD, RD, nutrition expert for

New York Times bestseller LL Cool J's Platinum Workout and advisory board member for Men's

Fitness magazine.

Here are six foods you can eat to boost your prostate health.

Berries.

Berries like strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries are high in vitamin C and antioxidants.

Antioxidants play an important role in the body as they prevent damage from free radicals,

molecules that attack healthy cells and can contribute to cancer risk.

Vitamin C may also help ease benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) symptoms by promoting urination

and reducing swelling.

So what's a quick easy way to whip up a healthy vitamin-C rich snack?

Dr. Mohr recommends blending a variety of berries and greens into a smoothie with milk

and protein powder.

"Blueberries, banana, milk, protein powder, peanut butter, and ice is a perfect smoothie

with lots of flavor and nutrition but simple to make."

There's about 90 milligrams of vitamin C in one cup of strawberries and about 14 mg

in one cup of blueberries.

Other great sources of vitamin C include citrus fruits, cantaloupe, spinach, broccoli, and

mangos.

For most adult men, 90 milligrams of vitamin C is recommended daily.

Fatty Fish.

There are plenty of reasons to include omega-3 fatty acids in your diet.

Omega-3s help lower bad cholesterol and raise good cholesterol levels, lower high blood

pressure, help with weight loss, and can reduce the risk of heart attack.

Although experts typically recommend cutting down on animal fat for prostate health, a

diet high in omega-3s can help boost prostate health.

In fact, omega-3 fatty acids, found in foods like lake trout and herring, may actually

help lower prostate cancer risk.

"A review paper published last year discussed how omega-3 fats modulate prostate cancer

development, likely because of their anti-inflammatory effects, and ultimately inhibiting tumor growth.

So it's important to suggest maybe replacing some other animal fats with that from fatty

fish like wild salmon, sardines, anchovies, tuna, for the beneficial omega-3 fats,"

says Mohr.

Most adults should aim to get two servings (one serving is 3.5 ounces) of omega-3 rich

fish a week.

Worried about mercury in your fish?

Anchovies, herring, sardines, and freshwater trout are good sources of omega-3s with lower

levels of mercury.

Nuts.

Healthy fats like those found in nuts can help lower your cholesterol and promote brain

health.

"Nuts are one of the best go-to snacks.

They're portable, convenient, and give you a lot of bang for your buck," says Mohr.

Brazil nuts are not only a good source of vital nutrients like vitamin E and calcium,

they're also full of the mineral selenium.

A 2010 study suggests that selenium along with soy may help fight prostate cancer, though

more research is still needed.

One Brazil nut has more than 100 percent of the daily value of selenium, which can be

harmful in high doses, so watch your portions.

Other great nuts for men include pecans, almonds, and walnuts.

Nuts can be pretty fatty, so remember more is less.

"For fat, it's not as much about quantity as it is quality.

If we could shift our focus to more omega-3s and monosaturated fats, we'd certainly improve

[our] health significantly," says Mohr.

Beans.

Here's one swap that will boost prostate health: Replace red or processed meats with

plant protein.

Beans, chia, and hemp seeds are chock-full of protein and other vital nutrients, says

Mohr.

Black beans, for example, pack a lot of nutritional punch.

Just one cup has about 15 grams of protein and 15 grams of fiber, which may promote prostate

health.

Hemp and chia seeds, on the other hand, have roughly 5 grams of protein per ounce.

Hemp seeds also contain all essential amino acids, while chia seeds contain about 10 grams

of fiber per ounce.

"Beans can be added to a salad or used to replace traditional meat on a burrito or wrap,

and hemp and chia can be used on oatmeal, shakes, and Greek yogurt," says Mohr.

Most adult men should aim to get about 38 grams of fiber and 56 grams of protein per

day.

Green Tea.

Research suggests that green tea can help protect against prostate cancer.

The benefits of consuming green tea doesn't stop there though, it also helps lower cholesterol

and even improves memory and attention spans.

Although the obvious way to consume green tea is to brew and enjoy it, there are other

ways to get your fix.

Try these recipes for iced mint green tea and green tea rice.

Other ways to enjoy green tea include adding it to a smoothie or using it to create a marinade.

Watermelon.

This staple of summertime eating is fat-free, sodium-free, and high in vitamins A and C.

Watermelon is also an excellent source of lycopene, the antioxidant that gives whole

foods like tomatoes and watermelons their color.

Research suggests that lycopene may help lower prostate cancer risk.

Lycopene can be found in foods like tomatoes, apricots, pink grapefruit, guava, and papaya.

There's about 9 to 13 milligrams of lycopene in a cup and a half of watermelon.

Most adults should aim for about 10 mg of lycopene a day, which shouldn't be tough

considering a tablespoon of ketchup and a half cup of tomato puree contain about 2.5

mg and 25 mg, respectively.

Eagle Scout Process for Mentors Phase 3 Part 2 - Eagle Board of Review (EBOR) - Duration: 7:23.

- - - 🎵 - - -

ScouterStan here, thank you for joining me for the second part of the

Eagle Scout Process for Mentors Phase 3 this is Part 2. In part 1

we briefly discussed the process of doing the application. Getting ready for

the Scoutmasters Conference and then getting all the required signatures and

getting that to the council office. Okay you've done all that, now it's time to

move on to the Board of Review. You finally got information back from

council. That says that your Eagle Application has been completed and all

the signatures are there. There is a Board of Review packet, that usually

follows with the application that you filled out. That will actually go to the

Troop. The Troop advancement team or somebody on the in the Troop Committee

will actually go about the process of setting up the location. The time, who

will be on the Board of Review and they'll also be working on the actual reference

letters... that were a part of the application. The advancement team will

receive these reference letters. They will never cross your hands the Scouts

hands or the mentors hands, unless they are actually writing a letter as

reference for the Scout. The Scout will not see these letters at any point

during this process. The Board of Review will consist of a minimum of three

members. One will be from the Council Advancement team. One will be from the

Troops committee and there will be somebody from the Advancement Committee.

The Scout can request additional people to be on his board review. The

restrictions are that no family members are allowed on the board of Review in

addition to Scoutmasters and

Assistant Scoutmasters.

They are not allowed to be on the Board of Review. Of course all of those three can

designate someone else to fill in their shoes... for the required Board of Review.

When all of the reference letters have been received, a Board of Review date can

be determined. The life Scout should meet with the Eagle Scout Mentor prior to the

Board of Review. Usually about thirty minutes ahead of time. During this

meeting they will go over all of the things that will go on during the Board

of Review with the Scout. The Life Scout is encouraged to bring his parents and

family along. They will not be in the Board of Review, but they can wait for them

outside the Board of Review, before and after. It is imperative that the Eagle

Scout candidate comes to the Board of Review in complete uniform, including his Merit

Badge Sash. The Life Scout or Eagle candidate should bring all of the

materials that they brought to the Scoutmasters conference. This includes Eagle

The Eagle Scout candidate can request that the Eagle Scout Mentor or Scoutmaster are in the

room. They will sit behind the Eagle Scout Candide and will not be asked any

questions or permitted to answer any questions or say anything during the

Board of Review. This will need approval from the District or Council Advancement

Chair. The reason for this is there... there from moral support of the Eagle Scout

Candidate and if there are questions after the Board of Review... they can be

asked questions separately without the scout in the room to confirm or

elaborate... and clear up any questions that were not clear in the meeting.

Before the board of Review with the Mentor... make sure that the Scout

understands that he will not be retested on any Scout skills. That is in the past.

He will be asked questions in regards to the Scouting Program and how he

developed in the Scouting Program. The whole Board or Review should take anywhere

from 30 to 45 minutes. It should be very very fast... granted that you have only

three people doing the Board of Review. If you have more than that... it will take a

little longer. After the Board of Review, everyone is excused from the room. The

Board will deliberate and then give their verdict. They must

have an unanimous verdict on an Eagle Scout. Upon approval the date of the

Board of Review is the date of the Eagle Scout Rank. Make sure you take lots of

pictures of this moment. The Board of Review chairman will take all reference

material with them to be destroyed. The Chairman will also instruct the Scout to

keep everything in the actual Board of Review confidential between other Scouts.

Of course the new Eagle Scout can talk freely with his family and non-Scout

friends. The paperwork will be signed and then taken to the scout office for it to

be sent off to National. When the paperwork arrives at National it will go

through an approval process and then notification will be sent back to the

Council. Many Councils will have donated funds to supply their actual Eagle Award.

Whether the Council has this available... they will still send out a notification

to the Scout and his family. At that point we can move on to an actual Eagle

Presentation Ceremony. That's the Phases of the entire process of becoming

an Eagle Scout. My next video will be on the actual

ceremony that you can go through. Ceremonies can vary from being very

elaborate to very simple. There are some things that you want to cover, but we'll

talk about that in the next video. If you like that series... you may want to

actually be part of the community here on YouTube. Feel free to subscribe button

up there that way you can be a part of it. Don't forget to hit the notification

button. If you like this series please give me a big thumbs up 👍 If you like to
