Waching daily Nov 29 2018

Hello CI! I'm here in the Veteran Resource Center

with the newest member of our Dolphin family - Doc,

and some of our Student Veterans.

Doc is CI's stress relief specialist

and campus therapy dog.

He spends his days at the

Veterans Resource Center helping our

Student Veterans de-stress and relax as they

navigate their University experience

and work toward attaining their educational goals.

Doc came to CI via a generous donation from the

Dr. Richard Grossman Community Foundation.

Thank you to CI staff member Jerry Garcia

for agreeing to care for Doc

on evenings and weekends,

and to Jay Derrico, Assistant Director

of Veterans Affairs for caring for Doc

while he's busy at work here at CI.

The entire campus community is welcome

to stop by the Veterans Resource Center

in Belltower East, Room 1760

for a little "Doc" time.

The semester is coming to a close,

so stay focused and finish strong!

Hello CI!

In great news for our campus,

I am delighted to share that the College Net

Social Mobility index recently

ranked CI as 18th in the nation for

improving the economic and social

mobility gains for our graduates.

In other exciting news, our very own

Dr. Amanda Quintero was highlighted by the

CSU for her compelling and inspiring

story as a first-generation college

student who now works every day on our

campus to support our students and their

educational aspirations.

And on the fun front, congratulations to all the

students who participated in CIs

first ever student songwriting contest.

I was honored to serve as a judge

at the event and blown away by our many

creative and talented students and their

incredible songwriting skills.

It was so much fun to see our campus turned

into a winter wonderland at "Snow Day."

I was grateful to escape the snow balls and

really appreciated the hard work of our

Associated Students in creating such a

magical winter wonderland for everyone

on campus, including CI police!

Stay calm and finish strong!

Why Do I Need a Lawyer for a UM/UIM Insurance Claim? - Duration: 1:41.

Why is it worth it to have UM coverage and hire an attorney if you have to make a UM

claim?

Well, it is worth it because the attorneys (myself, Jordan, Caleb and Kathy McArthur)

are very familiar with the process, and we know what to do and how to do it well and

get you the most amount of money possible.

Whenever you're making a claim against anybody's insurance, whether it be a liability claim

against someone else's insurance or against your insurance, it's so smart to have a lawyer

and have our firm help you through that process.

A lot of people are gonna say, "Well, you know, you're gonna take a fee.

What's your fee?

Why would I want to pay you, you know, if my own insurance is gonna pay my claim?"

Well, insurance companies think of you as a number.

They don't think of you as a person who's been injured.

They think of you as a number and there are statistics and you're a part of a ratio they have to

meet at the end of every month, and even though you pay your premiums to these insurance companies,

you might say to yourself, "Well, you know, I've been with State Farm." or "I've

been with USAA for 30 years."

Well, you're still a number to them, but to our firm you're a person and you matter and

you'll talk to us and we care about you, we want to help you and we're doing what's best

for you.

So you need an advocate on your side even if you're dealing with your own insurance

company because to them you're a number, but to us you're a person.

At the McArthur Law Firm, our job is to fight for you to make sure you get justice and reasonable

compensation for your injuries.

To get in touch with us call 1(888)WE FIGHT or go to our website Macarthurlawfirm.com.

EPA Director Blames Obama For Climate Assessment Warnings - Duration: 4:38.

So last Friday we had the a quadrennial national climate assessment come out from the Trump

administration and it gave us dire warnings about the future of the United States, the

future of the planet, if we continue to not act on the issue of climate change.

Well the Trump administration isn't very happy about it.

They don't believe the report.

Donald Trump is skeptical of it, and so our members of his cabinet, specifically acting

EPA director, Andrew Wheeler, Wheeler during conversation with the Washington Post this

week said that he thinks the Obama administration is behind the release of this climate assessments

showing how horrible things are here in the United States and how much worse they're going

to get.

Andrew Wheeler, the acting head of the EPA, who is actually now been nominated to run

the EPA fulltime blams Obama for the release of this paper that came out after Trump had

been president for nearly two full years.

Somehow it's Obama's fault just like everything else in the world and Republican land, right?

It's either Obama or Hillary and Hillary didn't touch the climate assessment.

So I guess it has to be Obama.

Here's Wheeler's reasoning as to why it was Obama's fault and then we'll get into why

this guy is an absolute idiot and a liar.

This quadrennial report comes out every four years, so Trump's only been in office for

a little under two, so according to the wheel or most of it was done.

All of it was done actually, according to him when the Obama Administration was an office

and he believes that they conspired to put together a list of worst case scenarios so

that when it was released, when the other administration took power, it would make them

look bad.

So Wheeler has hatched this new conspiracy theory that Obama two years before the election

even took place, but we didn't even know who the nominee is.

We're going to be, but Obama conspired with the EPA to make this report horrible so that

whoever the next president was was going to be screwed and maybe the next president could

have been Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders.

Obama didn't care because he just wanted to make somebody else look bad.

I'm.

Here's the thing about Wheeler's theory.

It's not true.

The report was not completed before Donald Trump came into office.

A climate scientists, uh, specifically, uh, Dr Katharine Hayhoe has come forward and said,

look, I, I wrote chapter two of this and that was in November of 2017.

We were still doing work on this and putting the assessment together after Trump had been

sworn in as president and in fact many, many, many, many, many months after that had happened.

So just this one, climate scientists has already blown a hole in Wheelers entire conspiracy

theory, but that's not going to stop him.

It's not going to stop Donald Trump.

They're going to continue denying that a problem exists.

They're going to continue blaming Obama for it.

At the same time, cutting the very regulations that have helped give us a little bit cleaner

air, a little bit better environment.

And I'm not saying Obama is not the blame for any of the environmental problems we have

right now.

He absolutely is.

Oil drilling domestically increased exponentially under his administration, fracking, spread

coast to coast.

Under his administration, offshore drilling increased under Obama.

Coal mining increased under Obama.

He did put some good regulations in place that did help.

They would have gone even further had we not expanded all of that fossil fuel exploitation

during his administration, and that's why a lot of it was kind of a wash.

He did some good things and he did some bad things and in the end they all meet in the

middle as most centrist Republicans do.

Now.

Excuse me, centrist Democrats.

That was quite a Freudian slip there, I guess, but nonetheless, to blame Obama for this report

coming out and showing a horrible things are is absolute insanity and Andrew Wheeler knows

that the only reason he's out there downplaying the results and blaming Obama is because he

doesn't want to have to take action.

He doesn't want to have to face an angry public.

He still wants to be able to go out and have a nice dinner and not be confronted with people

asking why he's helping to destroy the planet.

By planting the seeds of his little conspiracy theory.

He is hopefully, or at least he thinks he is giving himself enough clearance to stay

away from the issue and continue to not act on it.

President Beck Vlog entry for August 31, 2018 - Duration: 1:01.

Hello CI! welcome back to the campus.

I hope that your summer was full of

adventure and you're ready to start the

new academic year.

This summer CI received a whole

host of recognitions.

Associate professor Jaime Hannans

received a CSU Faculty Innovation and

Leadership Award for spearheading

innovative practices that significantly

improve student success, including

creating two no textbook degrees

in Communication and Early Childhood Studies.

Assistant Professor Jasmine Delgado's art piece

depicting Studio City was selected to be

part of L.A. Metro's "Through the Eyes of the Artist"

poster series and will be featured on

subways and buses throughout LA

beginning this fall.

And CI was ranked

one of the top ten colleges for surfers.

I think that means we're

officially a "hang-ten" college now.

Our incredible faculty, staff and I are all planning for

the university's future, and making

improvements to enhance the CI

experience so that all of our students

can "Channel Their Potential."

I look forward to seeing you on campus Dolphins,

Have a great semester!

Nina Wilson – UWM-SCE | College for Kids & Teens - Duration: 0:59.

I started college for kids in fifth grade

and I continued until I became a senior in high school.

Basically, for the scholarship, one of the requirements was that you had to have above a 2.5 GPA

and because I wanted to keep coming, I always like pushed myself even harder

and it pushed me so hard that I graduated with a 3.8 GPA.

My dad is super proud. He doesn't stop talking about it.

He always mentions College for Kids and then he mentions me going to school.

To help someone donate, I think, realize that there's teachers here who will push them,

who will consistently ask them, like, hey, do better in school. You keep going.

And it'll make them work even harder, as well as

meet new people that aren't what they see around them.
