- [Narrator] Today on Cabela's Deer Gear TV,
we're going to get you prepped for hunting season.
We'll give you some maintenance tips for your crossbow,
introduce the new ATVs and side-by-sides from Yamaha,
and make sure you have all the essential items
for your first hunting trip of the year.
All that and more here on Cabela's Deer Gear TV.
Hunting season will be here before you know it,
whether you're hunting with a rifle, bow,
or in our case today, a crossbow,
you need to make sure you take care of your equipment,
not just during hunting season.
- [Hunter] Just like any device, whether it's
your automobile, whether it's, you know, your house
or whatever it may be, your crossbow needs
some preseason maintenance.
It needs to be checked out.
Not only is that smart from a safety standpoint
but it's also smart from an accuracy
and dependability standpoint,
When you get ready to head to the field.
This particular ten point Turbo GT really
was put to the test last year for us.
From whitetail hunts to exotic hunts,
to hog hunting, we took this out
and put it through its paces.
Bounced around in some really rough conditions,
climbing, heading in and out of the stands,
climbing up tree stands, bouncing around
in trucks, and as you can see, the unit itself
looks phenomenal, but that wear and tear
on any type of device can cause you to need
to take some time to check it.
You wanna obviously start with the scope right here.
You wanna go through and make sure everything's tight.
Clean your lenses on it, check your batteries
if you have a lighted scope in there.
Make sure everything's working.
Make sure that entire unit is set,
because if it's not, it will have moved around,
it's gonna affect your accuracy.
Then you wanna look at lubricating your barrel.
Make sure that everything's still lined up.
Go in and look at your cables and string
and maybe lubricate those.
Check it for fraying, make sure everything
is still in perfect working order,
then go around to every basic place
on this unit that has the ability
or need to be tightened, and check all those.
Go ahead and tighten everything
and give it a good once over, and then
check your cocking devices as well.
Now once you get all of that looked at
and you've cleaned everything up,
and you're comfortable in it, let's take it out
to the range, take it out and shoot it a little bit.
Make sure it's still dialed in, and also finally
check every one of your bolts for any type of cracks,
any type of tears in there, because
not only can that cause serious damage
to your crossbow, it can cause serious damage to you
by not paying attention to those.
And when you get all that done, and dialed in,
and you head to the field, hopefully,
you'll be able to keep those nerves calm,
because one of those big bucks, or a big hog,
or something's gonna step out in front of you,
and if you can keep yourself calm,
I guarantee you these Ten Points are gonna put that bolt
exactly where you're aiming.

- [Narrator] At the 2018 Shot Show,
Ten Point unveiled the NXT crossbow series.
The NXT series combines width, speed, and accuracy
into some of the narrowest crossbows to date.
- [Randy Wood] Hi I'm Randy Wood with Ten Point crossbows.
We're here at the 2018 Shot Show out in Las Vegas.
I've got the new Stealth NXT in front of me.
As you can see, this bow is incredibly compact.
When it's cocked, axle to axle is only six inches wide.
Bow shoots 410 feet a second, so it's very very fast,
obviously very narrow and compact as well.
This bow also has the vector quad cable system.
Got four separate cables that anchor
from the riser, around the turnbuckle,
and anchor to the top and the bottom of the wheel.
That lets us get really fine tuned any wheel lean
out of this system.
As you'll notice as well, this bow
has the Rangemaster scope on it.
The retention brush that helps reduce noise.
You've also got an adjustable comb,
adjustable buttplate, and this Stealth comes with
several different cocking mechanisms.
This model can come with the new AccuDraw 50 sled,
it's basically a built in rope cocker
with a sled unit, as these bows get narrower
and narrower the string angle is so harsh
that you can't use the separate rope cocker,
so you have to use a sled type cocking mechanism,
and this new AccuDraw 50 sled really answers
the problem to that, but again,
Stealth NXT, 410 feet a second.
Very compact, very fast, very quiet to shoot.
- [Announcer] When it comes to the Ten Points,
right out of the box you're dealing with
a product that is bore sighted.
And bore sighted's gonna help you get close.
It's gonna basically, at 20 yards,
it's gonna get you in the ballpark,
but as you begin to dial it in,
and make those fine tune adjustments,
you have to realize that everybody's gonna interact
with the crossbow, interact differently with the scope,
and how they position themselves.
So as you expand from 20 to 30 and 30 to 40
and 40 and beyond, each person has to spend time
pulling that trigger and seeing what's going on.
Watching those bolts and studying those groups
and then make those fine tune adjustments
so that they can dial their crossbow in.
And Ten Point's standpoint, it's so easy to do,
because these are so deadly accurate.
As long as you are taking the time,
practice, be patient, and use good shooting form,
you're gonna be able to dial in your crossbow
very quickly, and if you ever have
any questions, or need to learn more,
your DVD that actually comes with your Ten Point
has a tremendous amount of information there
that's gonna help you be not only a better
more accurate shooter, but also
sight in your crossbow specifically
to your needs so that you can be prepared
when you get ready to head to the field.

One of the first elements of hunting
that you should prepare for is the weather.
Especially rain, but that's another bulky item
you have to pack, that's why Cabela's

which is gonna be important when you're
in the outdoors hunting trying to find that big buck.
But you don't wanna always be burdened
by a big set of rain wear, and that's where

Compass rifle, this is the bolt-action rifle

it's flush to the gun when it's inserted,
comes out nice and easy, they hold five rounds
in the magazine, except for the magnum calibers,
those hold four.

with the scope bases already mounted on here.
So right out of the box, it's ready to go,
all you have to do is get a scope,
and you can go out into the field.
Some other features to this are this bolt,
is a 60 degree bolt lift.
60 degree bolt lift comes in really handy,
because when you have a scope on this,
it's nice and easy to manipulate this bolt.
So this comes with a three position safety.
So you have the fire position, we all know
what that is, so when the gun is actually loaded,
and you're ready to shoot, you actually
just make sure this is in fire, and you
can pull the trigger.
So you have the center position, which is actually
your safe position, this allows you to be able to
manipulate the bolt, but
you actually can't pull the trigger.
In addition to that we have the bolt lock position.
Bolt lock position on this gun is a great feature,
I really like it, because when you're in thick conditions
and you're hunting, it actually makes sure that
you don't manipulate that bolt.
So you can see, the bolt is locked, so if you've got
oak brush, or you've got some thick trees
around you, you can't, you always make sure that
that bolt is in the downward position.
Some additional features that are sometimes overlooked
on the Thompson Center Compass, that it comes standard
with sling swivels, it has not just a front sling
swivel, but it also has a rear.
This is great if you're gonna sling this gun up
before you go to the range, or before
you go to the field.
In addition, it has a free floated barrel,
and it's pillar bedded, and it has a cheekpiece.
All three of these things really help with accuracy,

shooting our new Thompson Center Compass,
or any other firearm, for that matter,

and I think of all the gunshots that I've made

What that means is basically you know

reduce that sound that's coming in.
Independent volume control, it's got
