President Duterte recently made a tirade

about the Bible's creation story

and called God stupid.

He also said that God was lonely

and questioned the need to remember

Jesus' death on the cross every year.

Peter Kairuz: We appreciate the President's questions

about this topic and we acknowledge

that some of his comments

and assumptions about the Bible

and the creation story

are flawed or inaccurate.

So now we will offer to explain

God's real plan for salvation

based on His word, the Bible.

First, it's about how we got here.

At creation, God said in Genesis 1:26,

"Let Us make man in Our image."

God created men and women and

placed us here on earth.

People on this planet didn't get here

by some mere cosmic accident.

Second, it's about why God put us here

on earth in the first place.

God loved what He created

and created us to truly know and enjoy Him.

He wasn't just lonely.

Actually, He wanted a family.

He wanted us to love Him

and have this wonderful fellowship

together.

And as part of His love and purpose

for creating us,

He gave us free will because

He wanted man to love Him willingly.

Freely.

Third point, remember how God gave us

free will so we can freely

and willingly love Him?

The first humans -- Adam and Eve,

turned away from God

and went on their own and

they broke fellowship with God.

But you know what?

God in His wisdom still gave man

the free will to choose even if He

knew it will cause problems through

man's wrong use of it

because He also knows

the solution to that.. is Jesus!

And that leads us now to the next point.

It's about how God rescues us, sinners.

Out of His deep love for us,

He sends His one and only Son,

Jesus Christ, into the world to rescue us

from our dilemma by sacrificing His life.

On behalf of sinners like us,

He took the punishment we

deserve in order to provide salvation.

Then God raised Jesus from the dead,

confirming the work of Jesus

on the cross and establishing

His power over death.

Fifth, it's about our response.

How are we going to respond?

The Bible says in Romans 10:13

that "whoever calls on the

name of the Lord shall be saved."

If you have not trusted in Jesus Christ

as Lord and Savior, why not stop right now,

turn away from your life of sin

and believe in Him

who alone can save you and

give you new and eternal life?

Let's pray this prayer:

Just say, "Dear Heavenly Father,

I come to You right now with all the sins,

all my failings. And Lord

all the things that I have tried

doing my own self and have failed.

I put my trust and confidence on You.

Jesus, I open my heart's door and

I invite You into my life to be

my Lord and to be my Saviour.

Lord, thank You for loving me.

Thank You for saving me.

Thank You for giving me the greatest gift

the gift of eternal life because You died

on the cross to pay for all of my sins

and I receive that gift today.

I pray this prayer from my heart

in the name of Jesus, amen and amen.

This is one of Nigeria's worst tragedies - Buhari reacts over Otedola Bridge fire in Lagos - Duration: 0:29.

President Muhammadu Buhari, late Thursday, June 28, reacted to the tanker fire accident that happened in Lagos earlier in the day resulting the death of at least nine people and the destruction of over 54 vehicles.

According to Buhari, the incident which resulted in many sustaining injury, is one of the greatest tragedies experienced in Nigeria in recent times. Buhari's reaction was contained in a statement by his senior special assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu.

The statement quoted the president as expressing shock and sorrow over the incident while condoling with the government and people of Lagos state over the development.

"Sadly, this seems to be one of the greatest tragedies we have seen in recent times," Buhari said as he urged the emergency services and law enforcement officials to do their best to reduce the damage from the incident.

The Punch reports that the president said the major priority currently is how to save those people who could still be in danger.

we earlier reported that a tanker reportedly exploded and caught fire on Otedola Bridge outward Lagos on Thursday, June 28. The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and Lagos Fire Service were said to have been mobilised to the scene.

The reports was made known by the rapid Response Squad via its Twitter handle, @rrslagos767.
