NATO and Russia heading for a clash over Poland - DAILY NEWS - Duration: 4:37.NATO and Russia heading for a clash over Poland
Poland is shaping up to be at the centre of
a potential clash between NATO and Russian forces.
According to a proposal by Poland's Defence Ministry, the Polish government could offer
up to $2 billion in funding for a permanent US military presence on Polish territory.
In response, Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian government, stated that if the
Americans accepted this offer by Poland, it could 'lead to counteraction from the Russian
side.'
This latest fallout between Poland and Russia comes at a time of growing tension between
the two countries.
Radio Poland has reported that the 'Polish security services have detained a Russian
citizen and banned four people from entering the country after cracking down on a network
waging a hybrid and information war masterminded by Moscow' with the objective of destabilising
the Polish state.
A quick look at the history of foreign relations in the post-Cold War period shows why today's
poor Russian-Polish relationship has the potential to turn Poland into a NATO-Russian flashpoint.
Since the Poles joined NATO in 1999, they have developed a strong strategic partnership
with the United States.
Professor Justnya Zajac of the University of Warsaw points out that 'maintaining America's
political and military presence in Europe has been imperative from Poland's point
of view.
In Warsaw, the United States was seen as a security stabiliser and a state whose presence
in Europe secured a desirable balance of power.'
Poland's expression of such a deep commitment to advancing American geopolitical interests
in Europe has caused consternation in Russia.
The Russians fear that the strong Polish diplomatic connection to the US leaves their enclave
of Kaliningrad Oblast exposed to NATO advances.
Piotr Buras and Adam Balcer from the European Council on Foreign Relations note that 'Russia
sees Kaliningrad as a vulnerable outpost because it is surrounded by the most "hawkish"
NATO member states (Lithuania and Poland)…if the conflict were to escalate, Russia would
probably want to neutralise Poland by occupying the Polish-Lithuanian border region (the Suwalki
corridor) located between Kaliningrad and Belarus.'
In response to what is perceived as NATO's "hawkish" actions as Poland establishes
a special relationship with the Americans, Russia has transformed Kaliningrad into a
deeply militarised corner in north-east Europe.
The stage is therefore set for a potential confrontation between NATO and Russia on Polish
territory that is not dissimilar to the case of Russia's intervention in Ukraine in 2014.
There are troubling similarities between Russian interests in Ukraine in 2014 and the current
row between Poland and Russia.
The RAND Corporation, a global policy think tank, published a report in 2017 that found
that, just as Poland today faces a potential Russian military threat along its north-eastern
border with Kaliningrad, Russia 'had forces in place at its Black Sea Fleet' that threatened
Crimea.
Another similarity between the Polish-Russian clash and the 2014 Ukrainian case is a 'Russian
information campaign accompanying its military movements.'
This is illustrated by the Polish government having established a new wing of Poland's
military known as the Territorial Defence Forces, which is specifically designed to
confront Russia's spread of false information.
What happened to Ukraine at the hands of the Russians could happen again to Poland.
However, what makes the difficult relationship between Russia and Poland even more worrying
for European security than Russia's interference in Ukraine is the fact that, unlike Ukraine,
Poland is a NATO member state.
As a NATO member, Poland is part of its system of collective security enshrined by Article
5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which states that an 'armed attack against one' NATO
member state 'shall be considered an attack against them all.'
If Russian troops stationed in Kaliningrad were to invade Poland, under Article 5 Russia
would be taking on all of the member states of NATO, which most importantly includes the United States.

Very Important News Update | New Book for Pre-Order - Duration: 7:17.hi everyone thank you for joining me Michael Lanfield here important news
bulletin my newest book our path to freedom how we can live a freer and more
peaceful life this book is coming out August first as a Kindle on Amazon
pre-order it now for Amazon Kindle special price because it's gonna go up
August 1st August 1st you can purchase it but you three purchasing now you get
a special price and it is the third book in the series the interconnectedness of
life so first there was the interconnectedness of life and then
there was the last love and now this our path to freedom so what is our path to
freedom let me talk a little bit about it and the information that is included
in there and it's a little bit different from my other two books in that it
really talks about how we should move away from our culture why we should move
first of all why we should move away from our culture we thought we should do
it and also that we not everyone's gonna go like tomorrow and live right in the
forest so we got to do it slowly and so that is the main gist about this is
really to like two things basically about this book first is still focusing
on the theme and the idea of love and how love will solve everything and
secondly how we should understand that institutions and institutional
institutions that are part of our culture especially Western culture is
they're not they're not serving us any longer they're not serving us sort of
better and so we should get away from supporting any institution so like
institutionalized religions and marriages and any of these like licenses
and IDs and all these things and just giving up everything basically but also
to understand that we are not here to just because we live in a crazy world
and it's not possible just to go live in a forest somewhere and that's what
people think that this book is about no it's about trying to achieve true
freedom for ourselves and we understand when we have these stipulations and
these laws and these rules that are governed by governments Illuminati etc
then we are truly not free so we have to understand these ideas first really and
then really put them into practice afterwards you know slowly slowly
getting away from our culture now I'm fortunate I'm still part of this culture
as well and I'm not there yet at that level where I'm just like living a truly
free life I have been indoctrinated too since I was born and unfortunately you
know I've been slapped with so many vaccines and who knows what else I've
been you know pumped into me and I've been fed in all these lies and all these
you know programming and all these contradictions and things like that but
it always starts it always starts with our food it always starts with you know
understanding that our culture our no matter if it's a capitalist or if it's a
communist culture no matter what kind of society we live in understanding that
they're both they're both fundamentally the same system they're both the same
system and so I talked about this in my book how you know our path to freedom
and I really go into this in detail it is a little bit lengthy book but it's
still a pretty short read it's in paperback
it's little over 100 pages and I think in Kindle I think it's about
some 90 some pages but it really goes into the idea of you know first
understanding all these lies and all these contradictions that that
government is actually putting on us once we understand that then we
understand okay now that we know that the government's and all the
institutions are lying to us they're deceiving us they're still part of this
culture this complex culture which really is based on hurting animals then
we can start to okay I understand this now I have to strive to you know go as
far away as possible from the culture that I was brought up in and teach
others to do the same now this is probably my most radical and most
controversial book that you'll ever read her it's a really sad book but it's
thought-provoking and it really teaches people aha this is what's happening in
the world today this is what I can do I could take baby steps to get there and
the first step is really to love embrace love but embrace compassion embrace
kindness and you know all these wonderful beautiful emotions that really
respect other beings respect the earth and respect each other and so bad is our
path to freedom please do get the book today share with all your friends and
family to share this video please share it and like it because the more people
to share it and like it the more views is gonna get and the message is gonna
get farther and farther to thousands and maybe even millions of people so share
this video around please hit that you know subscribe button and don't forget
to hit that that little bell icon for notifications thanks for watching
everyone I love you all and don't forget don't forget don't forget our
path to freedom pre-order now pre-order it now for a special Kindle price

Lionel Messi: Argentina ace reveals who he believes are favourites for the World Cup - Duration: 1:49.Lionel Messi: Argentina ace reveals who he believes are favourites for the World Cup Messi is yet to win a World Cup and this summer's tournament in Russia could prove to be his final opportunity.
Argentina are among the favourites with the bookies having reached the final four years ago where they were beaten by Germany. The reigning champions are also among the teams expected to be in contention to lift the trophy. And Germany get the nod from Messi, though the star believes it's not a guarantee. "All the big footballing nations will start as favourites," Messi told.
"My dream is still the same – to be in the final and lift the cup. It is really difficult to go the distance and play the final of a World Cup.
"The reigning champions, Germany will try their best to achieve it once more. "Spain has a very good side that can go the distance.
Brazil and Portugal did well in the qualifiers, so did France. "We all know how challenging it is to win a World Cup, but we all want it, Argentina needs it." warmed up for the tournament by bagging a hat-trick as Argentina beat Haiti 4-0 on Tuesday night.
The South American nation face Iceland, Croatia and Nigeria in their World Cup group and are clear favourites to progress. Messi will be hoping they go one better than four years ago this time around.

Blanc prime candidate for Chelsea job with Grant in running if search for boss remains a struggle - Duration: 7:02.Blanc prime candidate for Chelsea job with Grant in running if search for boss remains a struggle
The future of Chelsea Football Club was shrouded in uncertainty on Thursday night after a day of stunning revelations — while Laurent Blanc emerged as a serious candidate for the managerial job.
Less than a fortnight after winning the FA Cup and what was their 15th major trophy under the ownership of Roman Abramovich, the club halted work on their new £1billion stadium project and appeared to shelve plans to appoint Maurizio Sarri as their new manager.
Blanc, who has been out of work since leaving Paris Saint-Germain two years ago, is now a prime candidate for the role.
Blanc would obviously be available should Conte now leave, although it is understood Avram Grant remains a key member of Abramovich's inner sanctum.
If the search for a new manager remains a struggle Chelsea's owner knows he can turn to the Israeli who guided Chelsea to the 2008 Champions League final following the shock departure of Jose Mourinho.
The Russian is on the verge of changing his manager for the 14th time in 15 years, if you include caretaker bosses, and the current uncertainty around that appointment is also creating a sense of anxiety when other clubs are pressing ahead with summer transfer plans.
Chelsea are expected to move into gear when director Marina Granovskaia returns from a break next week but Sarri no longer appears to be first choice to succeed Conte amid concerns about his past.
The situation with Sarri was already complicated by a £7million release clause at Napoli but Chelsea are now more alarmed by an exchange the Italian had with new Italy manager Roberto Mancini.
Mancini accused Sarri of hurling homophobic insults at him during a touchline row when he was Inter Milan boss.
Sarri was fined €20,000 and banned for two Coppa Italia matches.
At a time when Chelsea are dealing with historic abuse and racism claims, there is understandably no desire to appoint a controversial manager.
Meanwhile, Abramovich has put plans for a new 60,000 seater stadium at Stamford Bridge on hold after the Home Office delayed renewing his visa at a time of major political tension between Russia and Britain.
The billionaire Russian oligarch decided to take Israeli citizenship which enables him to visit his family home in London but does not allow him to work, with reports in Israel claiming he has now withdrawn his application for an investor visa in the UK.
On Thursday, Abramovich responded by putting the brakes on what would have been a huge cash injection into the UK economy, even though plans for a new ground were at an advanced stage.
A Chelsea spokesman refused to elaborate on a short statement that was issued by the football club on Thursday.
But sources close to Abramovich, who has lived in London since buying Chelsea in 2003, suggested on Thursday that he has no intention of pumping a huge slice of his £7billion fortune into a capital city that has suddenly made him feel so unwelcome.
He is said to have been particularly unhappy that he was unable to watch his team win the FA Cup against Manchester United last month because of his visa difficulties.
The statement by the club said: 'Chelsea Football Club announces today that it has put its new stadium project on hold.
No further pre-construction design and planning work will occur.
'The club does not have a time frame set for reconsideration of its decision.
The decision was made due to the current unfavourable investment climate.'.
Having already failed to secure Champions League football for next season, stadium expansion at Chelsea was considered essential to keep pace with their major rivals in the Premier League.
Plans were in place for Chelsea to play at the current Stamford Bridge stadium for two more seasons before demolishing it to build the new ground on the same west London site.
But staff at the club have been left in shock after a team of more than 50 people working on the stadium project at Stamford Bridge were suddenly told to stop work despite discussions with stakeholders and construction companies also being at an advanced stage.
It raises the question of whether Abramovich wants to quit the UK altogether and sell his club.
Only last week this newspaper posed that question to Chelsea amid rumours of possible investment from China and was met with a firm denial.
One reason given for why there was no truth in the claims was Abramovich's commitment to building a new stadium.
On Thursday, insiders maintained that their Russian owner has no desire to walk away from Chelsea after overseeing an unprecedented era of success for the club, including a Champions League victory and five Premier League titles.
On Thursday, there were also reports that Chelsea had terminated contract talks with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
But insiders insisted that Courtois has made it clear he does not want to discuss new terms until after the World Cup, so talks have actually not yet started.

The 10 Best Places To Live In Oregon For 2018 - Duration: 7:41.Where are the best places in the state of Oregon?
They're the places in Beaver State where people have the best jobs, residents are all
above average, and the sun shines the most.
However, we don't trust the untrained eye and instead look to data to understand the
best places to call home in Oregon.
There might be some surprises on this list, but when you look at the unbiased data, it's
hard to argue against.
1- Lake Oswego.
Lake Oswego is a city in the State of Oregon, primarily in Clackamas County with small portions
extending into neighboring Multnomah and Washington counties.
Located about 8 miles (13 km) south of Portland and surrounding the 405-acre (1.64 km2) Oswego
Lake, the town was founded in 1847 and incorporated as Oswego in 1910.
The city was the hub of Oregon's brief iron industry in the late 19th century and is today
an affluent suburb of Portland.
Well, I guess technically 6.3% of Lake Oswego residents who want to have a job can't find
one, so not everyone has a job, but it's the 12th closest of any city in Oregon.
You can tell they take business seriously as they have by far the coolest Chamber of
Commerce website we came across in our research.
2- Sherwood.
Located in the southeast corner of the county, it is a residential community in the Tualatin
Valley, southwest of Portland.
Sherwood was first incorporated in 1893 as a town.
Originally named Smockville after its founder, James Christopher Smock, the town was given
its current name by local businessman Robert Alexander in 1891, who likely named it after
his hometown of Sherwood, Michigan.
You can take a stroll down to Old Town for a business meeting and then over to one of
the many parks around town.
As an aside, while putting together the research for this report, we were pretty sure we would
see Sherwood in the top ten, and we were right.
3- Brookings.
Brookings is a city in Curry County, Oregon, United States.
It was named after John E. Brookings, president of the Brookings Lumber and Box Company, which
founded the city in 1908.
Brookings has it made.
In fact, according to science, it's one of the best places to live in the state of
Oregon.
The unemployment rate is the 24th lowest in the state at 7.3%, and residents make a pretty
penny.
Median incomes are $40,316, and the average cost of a home is $264,400.
Which is an indication that lots of people want to live here.
We wouldn't be surprised if more and more publications call Brookings one of merica's gems.
4- Sandy.
Sandy is a city located in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States, and named after the
nearby Sandy River.
The city serves as the western gateway to the Mount Hood Corridor, 25 miles (40 km)
east of Portland.
Sandy's unemployment rates are some of the lowest in the state and the median income
is the 13th highest, making Sandy a great place to work and settle down if you're
look for a stable job with a stable income.
Additionally, Sandy has above average education and low crime, making this place a safe place
to live.
5- Milwaukie.
Milwaukie is a city in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States.Founded in 1847 on the banks
of the Willamette River.
The city is now a suburb of Portland and also adjoins the unincorporated areas of Clackamas
and Oak Grove.
The Town of Milwaukie might be a bit of a surprise to some in terms of how well it ranks
according to science.
The crime rate in Milwaukie isn't amazing, but it's far below the state average.
The homes are valued at $245,000 here, and the schools get some of the most funding in
Oregon.
If Milwaukie can get some more of their residents to work, things will look even rosier here.
The unemployment rate (7.2% is the 22nd highest in the state.
6- Tualatin.
Tualatin is a city located primarily in Washington County in the State of Oregon.
A small portion of the city is also located in neighboring Clackamas County.
It is a southwestern suburb in the Portland Metropolitan Area that is located south of
Tigard.
Tualatin takes 6th place on our list of best places in Oregon for 2018 thanks to a strong
showing in unemployment rate (10th overall) and things to do.
Tualatin is no stranger to top ten lists, being named one of the best places to live
in the country by multiple outlets over the past ten years.
7- Canby.
Taking its place as the 7th best place in Oregon is Canby.
Residents here earn a really high salary each year, and crime is fairly low, in comparison
to the rest of Oregon.
It's considered a cultural community, as it boasts an arts scene, and many ethnic restaurants,
too.
Which means you can't be bored here.
An unemployment rate of only 5.4% helps thing too.
One of Canby's main attractions is the Clackamas County Fairgrounds, where Clackamas County
hosts its annual Fair and Rodeo (Seems fitting to me that Clackamas County has an annual
rodeo).
8- Silverton.
Silverton ranks 8th on our list of best places to live in Oregon thanks to its low unemployment
and high adjusted median income.
Additionally, its crime rate ranks in the lowest 10% of all places in Oregon that we
examined.
People have been flocking to Silverton over the past years.
Goes to show that everyone wants in on this great community.
9- Bend.
We wouldn't be surprised to see CNN call Bend one of the best places to live in the
United States.
Not only do the residents all make great livings, there's
essentially no crime in the entire city.
And the residents are very involved in the community.
They can't build homes fast enough here as it seems everyone wants a piece of Bend.
10- Beaverton.
We think the motto in Beaverton should be "Everything is greater in Beaverton,"
and that seems to be pretty close to the truth.
Beaverton has some of the highest home values in Oregon, and they're going up fast.
Additionally, Beaverton only has 13.4% of its residents living in poverty.
Crime is also well below the state average, making Beaverton a solid option for people
who value safety.
At least those who can afford it.
