Waching daily Feb 2 2019

I want to cover this song with Music maker Jam ("Wish you were here" by Pink Floyd)

Thanks to CHORDIFY.NET I know which chords to use

But despite the tricks from my video "How to unlock 17 hidden harmonies" I have a huge problem.

(click on I to learn more about how to cover a song)

I can't find all required chords in one pack.

Even if there was a pack with "my" chords available: I'd have to buy it.

So when my buddies Jon & Pat start jamming ...

I can chime in with Music Maker Jam.

So far it sounds pretty good...

But when trying to use a (minor) because the A (Major) that is needed is not available here ...

... it sounds off.

But I found a way to remove a not needed chord ...

... and replace it with the missing A.

How? By changing a single letter in a file on my Android phone.

How to get all chord combinations for free in Music Maker Jam (Android)

Before you start: Backup your project

This is highly experimental. You may break important things!

To backup, press the 3 dots next to your project and tap "Export".

Close the project in MMJ (e.g. by opening an unrelated one)

Step 1: get a Text Editor for your phone or tablet.

Step 2: Find a file called project.xml

It might be in Internal Storage or on the SD Card.

In the Android subfolder that has a ...

... subfolder named "data" ...

... which leads us to another folder named "com.magix.android.mmjam"

Which leads you to "files".

Go to "mmj_engine" ...

Go to "mmj_engine" ... (I told you it would be experimental)

Select "projects"

Then "user" (we're getting there)

Click the project you want to modify.

Open "project.xml" (finally!)

Find the 3rd line. It says "used_chords".

Guess what?! You can change those to whatever you want.

I don't need F in my song, so I change it to A.

Save it and you're done!

Let's see if it worked.

My F turned into an A!

I can change the bad sounding a to A now.

Let's check the sound.

The new A (major).

Compared to the old a minor.

Replacing a minor everywhere now.

Let's hear how we sound with Pat & Jon now.

Will our A major work and sound good with the band?

YES!

Now we can refine our sound, our arrangement, our timing ...

Stay tuned for our final version!

That's nice! What else can you do with this?

You can add a chord (maximum total of 7)

Let's add g#, save and see if it worked.

g# is there.

With the help of SuperJam Academy and The Flash, I found things that don't work.

Using more than 7 chords does not work. Flat chords are not available (just use the equivalent sharp notes as Eb is the same as D#). 7th chords are also unavailable.

Is there a way to do this without hacking and editing a file?

Yes, but it involves buying the pack that contains the chords you need.

Check my other tutorial (press I) for this easier but more limited way.

It is called: "How to unlock 17 hidden harmonies in Music Maker Jam"

The list at the end of that video makes it easy to spot which pack has which chords.

In that video I also explain why messing with the chords won't always sound good.

In the case shown here, I could not find a Mix Pack that contained all chords I needed.

And I was lucky because MMM's loops sounded nicely with the new A chord.

Therefore, always try transposing your chords first. Here's how!

These chords look complicated, BUT ...

Transposing by one step makes them standard MMJ.

So instead of trying to bend MMJ to do d#, C# and B, try if it can be transposed to something that is "standard" on Music Maker Jam.

For more info about transposing check this tutorial!

In my experience, trying the bend the chords is a last resort that often will result in MMJ bending the laws of physics.

So don't go too crazy!

Divert as little as possible from the "normal" chords.

And never forget ...

This is an unofficial trick. You may lose stuff. MAKE A BACKUP

And now the grand finale ...

See how fast and seamless it works with a little bit of practice.

Figure out which chords you need (e.g. by using my other tutorials)

Enter them into a the project.xml file.

Checking again.

Adding additional chords.

Saving. Switching to Music Maker Jam.

Oops. Forgot to close the project before. Leaving now. NOT SAVING.

Re-opening the project. Now it loads the changes we made.

Voilá!

Now saving it under a new name and enjoying the custom-made chords.

Bonus Question!

Why is "Nothing else Matters" by Metallica still not doable in MMJ?

We have all chords now. But which important detail has Tom Z overlooked?

Groundhog Day 2019: Pics Of Punxsutawney Phil As He Looks For His Shadow & More - News Today - Duration: 2:17.

Today, Feb. 2, is Groundhog Day! See all the pictures from the annual ceremony where Punxsutawney Phil crawled out of his burrow and predicted the weather!    After the hellish week we endured with the Polar Vortex, it seems like the question on everyone's mind is "will we ever be warm again?" Luckily, Punxsutawney Phil is here to answer that! The infamous groundhog emerged from his burrow at Gobbler's Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania at sunrise on Feb

2 to predict whether we'll be seeing spring soon or if we'll have to wait to get rid of winter

Phil DID NOT see his shadow, so luckily we'll have an early spring!  This is the 133rd year where Phil predicted the weather – the ceremony has taken place annually since 1886

Yes, that is a long time for a groundhog to live, but there's a legend as to how Phil keeps coming around year after year

He drinks an "elixir of life" that adds another seven years to his life with every sip, ensuring that he'll be around to make predictions for years to come!    Thousands of people congregated near Phil's burrow – and even more watched live online – to see what the groundhog decided

In case you didn't know, there's a procedure that occurs to determine his prediction

If Phil sees his shadow, he'll run back into the burrow, meaning we'll have six more weeks of winter

But if he sticks around and hangs out outside, that means spring is coming! He then shares his prediction with his Inner Circle, and its members translate the information for the attendees at the Groundhog Day Picnic (and the rest of us too, of course)

He typically sees his shadow, though. He's only ever predicted an early spring 18 times (this year makes 19!)  Want to see pics from the ceremony? Then get clicking through the gallery above! Happy Groundhog Day!

Mourinho tipped for sensational Chelsea return if Sarri is axed - Duration: 1:46.

Jose Mourinho could return to Chelsea for a third spell if Maurizio Sarri is axed

That is the view of talkSPORT presenter , who believes the pressure on Sarri is increasing following the midweek thrashing at Bournemouth

Chelsea were beaten 4-0 on the south coast in what was their heaviest defeat for 23 years

Sarri kept his players behind in the dressing room for over an hour before admitting he may be unable to motivate his squad

His comments led to suggestions that Sarri wouldn't be at Stamford Bridge for the start of next season

And Durham believes Chelsea should turn to one of their former managers - or another club legend

"Who next? Because Jose Mourinho is free, you could see it happening couldn't you

Of course you can see it happening," he said.  "He's available, and the other one is Frank Lampard

When you look at what Man United have done, you brought up Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, if you bring back a club legend and it fits like a glove

"He's already had a little taste of it at Derby where things are going very well

"Can you see Frank Lampard managing Chelsea, taking over from Sarri? I don't think he'll be able to turn it down

"

[Eng sub] Brush pressure | Watercolor painting tutorial for beginners - Duration: 15:29.

It helps you control the pressure on the brush.

Hello everyone, I'm Shibasaki.

It is great to see you again.

How are you?

We have gone through a number of sessions in my extreme beginner course.

First of all, I would like to start this session by thanking Chiemi Saito.

My extreme beginner sessions are presented in both Japanese and English,

and now Ms. Saito is adding Spanish.

Woooow, Thank you!!!

Many people in the world speak Spanish as their official language.

I really appreciate her contribution.

There are many other languages in the world,

and offers of translation into other languages are greatly appreciated.

Thank you again, Ms. Saito.

Well, let's go on to our session.

In our previous lesson, we practiced drawing long lines,

both straight and curved, using this #20 round paint brush.

Today's Theme

Today, with the same #20 brush,

we will practice drawing straight lines and gradually changing the width of the line.

The lines I drew in the previous lesson were mostly horizontal,

and some people asked me how to draw vertical lines.

So let's draw vertical lines today, gradually changing the width from thick to thin.

Imagine a standing tree.

The trunk is thicker at the root and thinner at the top.

This technique is also very useful when you draw big trees in full view.

This is one of the lessons I give to my students.

It helps you control the speed of brushing and, at the same time, the pressure on the brush.

It will also help you improve your watercolor painting skills.

Well, let's start.

With my #20 round brush.

Demonstration

I'll dissolve some paint.

Pay attention to my brush.

Here, I'll use this side of the paper.

Suppose there is a landscape here, with fields and mountains, as well as the sky.

There are big trees next to them.

Lots of them.

Now let's dissolve some color with water.

Because I am drawing trees, why don't I use Burnt Umber?

It's ready.

Now, it's a tree, and we need to draw a vertical line, from bottom to top, from thicker to gradually thinner.

A straight line would be ideal, but this is a tree.

The line can be a little curved.

Or it can be bent on either side.

The purpose of this practice is to draw a line that's becoming gradually thinner.

Let's try.

Pay attention to the pressure.

I'll show you.

If you press the brush hard against the paper, the mark on the paper is big.

But if you press it gently, the mark is smaller.

You can change the size of the mark by changing the pressure of the brush against the paper.

Now I'm drawing some lines.

Remember, don't move your wrist around.

Immobilize your wrist and move it straight up.

Here. I'll start with one line.

Repeating will make it better.

Press the brush hard, and move the brush straight up.

It may be hard to see if it's viewed from above,

but the brush is gently lifted here - it makes the line thinner.

Keep lifting the brush little by little as you move it forward.

See the line is becoming thinner? This is how.

Press the brush hard,

and lift the brush little by little as you move it straight up to change the width.

Keep going and keep lifting the brush to make the line thinner.

When you have come this far,

the pressure on the brush is much smaller, and the brush as a result may become wobbly, like this.

It may make the lines wobbly, as well.

It's OK, though. We are all living, and our hearts are beating.

The line can be wobbly.

Don't worry about becoming wobbly ;)

keep releasing the pressure on the brush little by little until the line is this thin.

Doesn't it look like a tree?

Remember, immobile the wrist.

You could keep your elbow out.

Press the brush hard against the paper and gradually lift it as you move it forward.

This is how you draw a vertical line that becomes gradually thinner. Don't worry about wobbly parts of it.

Again, Press the brush hard against the paper.

Gradually lift it as you're moving.

Keep releasing the pressure on the brush little by little.

What do you think? Does it look like a tree?

When you are used to it, try drawing faster. Like this.

Like I explained in the beginning,

the effect of both the speed of brushing and the pressure on the brush makes it possible.

It is why this helps you control your brushing speed and pressure.

You can paint a lot of trees this way.

Well, isn't it interesting?

Press hard. Release pressure little by little and move forward.

Keep practicing.

Haha~ This is leaning a little, but it's fine~.

This is how you practice.

Once you master this,

you can start from top,

and add increasingly more pressure on the brush to make the line thicker and thicker toward the bottom.

This is something you can also try.

Try to control the pressure on the brush.

Well, don't they look like trees? What do you think?

Let's try on another page.

I am now using F6-size paper in the landscape orientation.

The paper can also be used in the portrait orientation to draw taller trees.

Let's turn the page and try longer lines.

As I need to draw longer lines now,

we need to calculate and foresee how the pressure should be released.

So plan ahead, and try again.

With a lot of paint, start by pressing the brush hard, and release the pressure little by little.

Be patient with the wobbly brush, and go straight up.

Here we go again. Keep going. Done.

This makes the line look like a tree.

Now why don't we add some branches?

With the paint, shape the brush tip flat like a knife.

In the same way, press it hard and go straight up.

Then the line becomes thinner to the end.

The branch itself is thinner than the trunk, but it still has a thick then thinner line.

The other direction may be a little difficult.

See how my wrist was immobilized?

This is the practice for drawing long trunks and long branches.

What did you think?

Review

This is truly useful.

Do you remember I drew some trees in the front of the snowy landscape?

I used this technique to do so.

This works the best when the appropriate speed of brushing,

and the appropriate pressure on the brush are used.

It may be difficult at the beginning, but practice is important.

But you may find yourself better than me at your first attempt.

Watercolor painting is fun, isn't it? Just try and start drawing.

If you find this video very useful, please leave a comment and subscribe to my channel.

Thank you so much for watching until the end.
