ECYD has a driving force, that moves it,

that moves each one of us.

It moves us all and towards all.

It is nourished by our friendship and prayer.

This force grows, it gets stronger, and has more power the more you use it.

It impels us to get up and and walk towards the Kingdom.

This force is the love of Christ, because He has loved us first.

From this love we receive the strength to be his apostles, his friends.

It is a love that began with an encounter, an encounter that became experience, an experience

that is now a conviction and decision to give oneself.

It is a love that is a gift for the world, a love that wants to influence and transform

it according to the Gospel.

It is a force that transmits a whole new way of life.

It is the living of a pledge of friendship with Christ and with my friends.

It seeks to love as Christ has loved us and so seeks to share this love with those around me.

It is to love with His heart the same loves He has: Mary, the Church, the Pope, our neighbor,

and ECYD as a way to heaven.

This love sets in motion who I am and what I do.

It is the power that the apostle needs to let Christ live, work, and pray in him.

Studying for Your Accounting Exam - Duration: 9:28.

This short video is designed to help you study for your first accounting exam.

Your first exam is usually the MOST IMPORTANT exam – as it focuses on building foundational

concepts that will be used in future chapters.

INVEST THE TIME now.

Here are some suggested test taking strategies.

Cramming DOES NOT WORK.

You must develop a regular and methodical approach to any course of study.

By now, you should have compiled a notebook which includes

Lecture notes, handouts,

and exercises and problems worked out during class. Homework practice which should consist of

the printed problems out of Connect, as well as the solutions solved from scratch.

These solutions should be CORRECT SOLUTIONS.

(In other words, you should have entered them into Connect and received GREEN BOXES to insure

accuracy.)

This binder should be organized by Chapter number.

This notebook will be of tremendous help to you in your studying efforts.

(We will come back to this later.)

You should have practiced the material multiple times over the course of the past few weeks.

You CANNOT master accounting without repetitive practice.

Again, cramming doesn't work.

This should NOT be the first time you have looked at the material.

KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT – Understand the structure of the exam.

Know how many questions (or what percentage of the exam) will be objective or multiple

choice.

Know how many questions ( or what percentage of the exam) will be problem solving.

Also, know whether there will be essay or open ended questions.

ASK YOUR INSTRUCTOR if you are not sure.

(Many times instructors provide Review Sheets or Study Guides)

Adjust your study time appropriately!!!

Multiple Choice Questions If Multiple Choice questions comprises a major

portion of your exam, then you should try to work in as many multiple choice questions

as you can.

Here are a few suggestions.

Review the "self study" questions at the end of the chapters covered on your exam.

(ACCT 100 texts include these questions in several places in each chapter.

ACCT 101/102 texts have five multiple choice questions at the end of each chapter.)

TRY THESE on your own – and then check your answers against the solutions.

Your text will tell you where the problem or solution is located.

Many times, accounting exams usually include definitions and terminology.

Look over these.

Consider using the Smart Book to see if you have mastered them.

Hover over the terms and definitions either in the body of the book or in the glossary.

Make flashcards of any of them that are giving you trouble.

Review your old quizzes.

Focus on any "missed" questions.

You can review these by going to the "Results" menu in Connect, and clicking on the quizzes

in question.

First – and probably most important: Use the "old" publisher's website questions.

The link is located under the Course Materials section of my webpage.

This was demonstrated in class.

Find the link.

Click on it.

This link is for ACCT 100.

(The link will be slightly different for other classes, based on your class and text.)

Choose the "student edition."

Select the chapter.

Choose "Multiple Choice Quiz " Answer the questions to the best of your ability

WITHOUT NOTES!!!!!!!!

(Remember the purpose of this is to prepare you for an exam where you will NOT be allowed

the use of notes.)

"Submit" the quiz – at the bottom right.

Your results will display.

Give extra attention to any questions that you miss.

Go back and study the topics that you are weak on.

Finally, If you have been using the Learn Smart Module as part of your weekly study

sessions, then consider using the "Practice Quiz" Feature.

This feature is located under the "Reports" Menu,

select the practice quiz.

Choose the chapters you want to study on.

(In this case, I will choose Chapter 3) – and tell the computer how many questions you want

to work on.

Then press "Start your Quiz."

Proceed to answer the questions – and check how well you did when you are finished.

Also consider using the "missed questions" sections of Learn Smart to focus on your weaknesses.

Finally, If your instructor uses any "games" like "Kahoots", those may be available

to you.

Simply click the link on a computer or tablet from my website, and use a cell phone to enter

the game's PIN or ID – and play.

(You can also "search" for topics on Kahoots that other instructors have prepared.)

This is another good way to study for the multiple choice questions – and have a little

fun too -- if time allows.

Let's go on to the Problems section.

Again, your instructor probably gave you a good idea of the types of problems that will

appear on your exam.

Go through your notes and find problems similar to those that you know.

There is probably (or at least there should be ) a notation in YOUR NOTES that there will

be an exam problem on your test.

Go back and RE-WORK some of the exercises and problems that are similar to those noted.

(You can peruse your class notes, as well as your Homework binder to locate similar

problems.)

If you still need more practice, Use the Optional Ungraded Practice located in Connect.

Once again, locate problems similar to the ones that you are studying in the Connect

site.

COMPLETE the solution on a BLANK PIECE OF PAPER – or FROM SCRATCH - and then enter

your solutions into Connect.

Use the "Check My Work" button to see if you solved them correctly

As you are doing this Identify your strengths and weaknesses and Jot down any areas that

you struggle with.

Address those weaknesses.

If you are a visual learner – then consider reviewing the PowerPoints that I have provided

on MY WEBSITE for each chapter.

Address the weaknesses through whatever study aid best suits your learning style.

If you get stuck, consdier contacting a "study buddy" or classmate for help, or use the

tutorial labs.

The days and times are on my website.

Try to keep your normal habits as the exam nears.

This means, eat a normal diet.

Follow normal sleeping patterns.

DO NOT pull an "all-nighter."

Do not drink shots of energy drinks (or shots of anything else for that matter.)

Come prepared.

Get yourself organized the day before.

Your Scan Tron and pencil should be in your back-pack by now.

Make sure you have a working calculator Do not come to class without a calculator.

You should bring it on a daily basis.

ARRIVE EARLY.

I am on campus by 7 at the latest each morning.

Classrooms and labs are open for much of the day.

Use positive self talk and mentally focus on what's head.

Use relaxation techniques if needed.

The first test you take in any class usually causes some stress.

Manage the stress.

(There are short seminars in the Student Success Center that can help you with test taking

anxiety.)

Finally – When the day arrives – just DO YOUR BEST.

No one can ask for more.

I'm signing off.

I'm loving the journey.

PG&E Filed for Bankruptcy and the Stock… Bounced - Duration: 3:37.

Chris Hill: Let's check in on the PG&E saga.

The California utility filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Shares of PG&E up 17% when we walked in the studio?

Am I supposed to put this on my watchlist now?!

I mean, we've talked before about how, look, it's a utility, it can't just go away.

Bill Mann: Right.

Hill: But I just assumed it going to reappear in some form that maybe was completely removed

from the public markets.

Am I now supposed to think, "Oh, maybe there's a future, not just for this utility,

but a future for investing in this utility?"

Mann: Oh, yeah, absolutely. Utilities are so weird.

If you produce a product and it, for example, catches on fire, and you get sued for it,

and you don't have money to cover it, you go out of business and that fire-producing

product doesn't get produced anymore. You can't do that with utilities.

You can't say, "Well, electricity or the production of electricity caused these fires in Northern California.

The company's going out of business. Let's just produce no more electricity in Northern California.

There's your solution." What's going to happen?

There were fires in 2017, and the California Public Utilities Commission passed a ruling

that allows the utilities to pass on the costs of the liabilities for such events onto rate holders.

Good thing that they did, too, otherwise we'd have an enormous financial issue with PG&E.

So, yes, it's going bankrupt. It has sufficient assets to cover its cash liabilities.

It's going to come out of bankruptcy, restructured the equity, will in all likelihood have some value.

The bonds were trading at $0.85 on the dollar earlier. I think they'll rally.

What you have now in this place is a plan.

Hill: Are you interested? Mann: No. No! Here's the thing.

It's going to become much more expensive to produce electricity in this country for a couple of reasons.

One, because the slate is changing.

We can argue over global warming a little bit, but utilities are having to respond.

They're having to change their slate.

The cheapest forms of energy -- coal, nat gas, oil -- are being ramped down, and other

forms are being ramped up.

But also, these types of liabilities are popping up a lot more, as well.

You could say that it's because of climate change, you could also say it's because of

a change in how people live.

The town called Paradise, which is where the fires were, and where the most damage was,

where the houses were destroyed, was probably not something that really would have existed

in the same form even 40 years ago. It was largely a retirement community.

People, as a change of lifestyle, went up and lived in the woods.

So, no, I don't find utilities to be a very exciting investment because they'll be boring

until they're exciting in the exact wrong way.

The Cure For Dealing With The Unknown - Duration: 10:43.

Do you struggle with not knowing what's going to happen in the future?

Or struggle with the unknown?

Well, today we're going to talk about that.

"How to deal with the unknown?"

So, how to deal with the unknown?

That's something that I think many people struggle with in our world today.

Most people have this desire to be in control.

We want to be in control of our life, we want to be in control of everything around us because

when we feel like we're in control then we have this sense of security or this sense

of safety.

And we have this belief that that everything will be okay.

Well, everything that we do in this life is based on the beliefs that we have.

Because our beliefs create our emotion, our thoughts and beliefs create our emotions.

And our thoughts and beliefs drive our behaviors.

Well, what if our thoughts and beliefs are incorrect.

Is there such thing as having incorrect thoughts and beliefs?

Or is whatever you think and whatever you believe true for you and that's what really

this life is.

That we all kind of have our own reality.

And we all can believe whatever it is that we want to believe.

And then that's true for ourself.

Well, we live in a world that is govern by laws or principles.

There are natural laws that govern the worlds in which we live like the law of gravity.

You know, if I decide to walk off a cliff, I'm not going to float, I'm going to fall.

And so, it doesn't really matter what I believe.

There's a truth there that gravity exist.

And whether I believe it or not, it's going to function and operates.

So, if gravity exist then could it be that there are other laws or principles that govern

the world in which we live?

Well, we know that there are.

There are physical laws that govern all aspects of the world.

But there are also laws that govern things like relationships and happiness and success.

And there are 3 foundational principles that govern everything that we do.

And those 3 foundational principles are accountability which says that you're accountable for your

life.

And you can't give it away to anyone else and nobody can take it from you.

The second is choice.

Which says that "In any circumstance or situation, you have a choice about 3 things."

And these 3 things are...

The 3rd principle which is the principle of control.

So, you only have control over 3 things.

And you have a choice about what you do with those 3 things.

And those 3 things are their conscious thoughts...

So, in any circumstance or situation, you can choose what you want to think about that.

You thoughts create your emotions which means you also choose your emotions.

And then our thoughts and our beliefs drive our behaviors.

So we can control our conscious thoughts, our emotions and our behaviors.

That's it.

Everything else is just influence.

So, think about that in dealing with the unknown.

So, somewhere I must have a belief that says that I can know certain things.

Well, tell me this.

Is there anything in your future that you can know for sure?

I was going to say, I guess we all know that we are going to die.

And that's probably true.

So they say death and taxes, right?

So, there are few things.

But could that change?

I mean could it change to where we didn't have to pay taxes?

Is it possible?

It could.

But everything that's in the future is unknown.

And yet, what happens is...

Think about this in your own life.

You create beliefs about what will happen and then you just accept that's the way that

it's going to be.

And then oftentimes what we do is we base our happiness based on what we think is going

to happen.

So, maybe I am at a place where I have a job and I have a belief that it's a secure job.

And my job pays well.

And so, I have a belief that (1) I have a job that's going to provide security for me

and my family.

And I'm making enough money to cover all of our expenses.

And as a result of that, I feel safe, I feel secure, I feel happy.

But is that belief true?

Is there such a thing as a secure job?

I don't think so.

I mean right now in our country, we've got a situation where the government workers,

the federal government which is a secure job or a lot of people would say that it is.

A lot of them are laid off right now and not working.

So even though jobs that we tend to have a belief that are secure, things could change

in any moment.

And we could lose that job.

What is the solution in of dealing with the unknown because you could move in to a place

where you are fearful and afraid of everything because now you know that nothing is certain.

Well, it's true that nothing is certain.

But there are things that we can have a pretty good idea that are going to be there.

But more important than that, what we have to realize is going back to the principles

or the laws that govern this world in which we live.

We don't control anything outside of ourself.

But we do control us and how we respond.

So, regardless of what happens outside of us.

We get to choose what we think about that, how we feel about it and what we do in response

to that.

So, the solution to feeling secure and safe about maybe the fear that you have concerning

the unknown is to educate yourself and to gain as much knowledge and skill as possible

so that you have a belief in yourself and you abilities that whatever happens, you're

able to take care of yourself to the best of your ability.

Now, one other fear that a lot of people have is part of the unknown is death.

You know, so what's going to happen to me when I die?

Well, you create your own beliefs.

And the truth is you don't know for sure what's going to happen when you die.

And then we can apply that for everything that happens in life.

So let's say that you're given a task that you've never done before but you're not sure

that you can do it.

Or you think that it's going to be hard.

Well, that's...

It's just a belief.

You've never done it before.

So you don't know what it's going to be like.

And again, we can take anything.

So, anything we do, we do for a reason because if we think it's going to give us what we

want.

Why do people get married?

They think that if they get married that their life is going to be better.

You know, why do people go to a job?

Well, they go to a job because they believe that they're going to get paid for going to

the job.

Well, are there people that have ever gone to a job and not got paid?

Are there people that got married thinking that now their life is going to be blessed

and it's turned out that their life is more and happy than it was before they got married.

So we have this beliefs and we think that they're true.

But all they are is beliefs.

Here's the real solution.

All we have is right now.

This is the only thing that we know for sure.

Is what's happening right now in my life.

And the key to not worrying about what's going to happen in the future, again, is understanding

that we don't have control over that.

So I need to work on letting it go.

And I need to really work on just taking advantage of where I am at right now which is in this

present moment and enjoying this present moment.

If we can get in the pattern or the habit of doing that, then regardless of what happens

in the future, it's okay.

Because we're in the mindset of looking for a positive.

Being grateful for what we have.

And as a result of that, every moment can be a happy moment.

Every moment can be a moment filled with love and peace and contentment.

And knowing that whatever happens, it's going to be okay.

Now, this may be a new way of thinking about things for you.

You know, maybe at first thought your'e thinking, "I don't know that I really like this.

You know, because I'd rather hand on to that illusion that I'm in control of things."

Just not true, If you'll turn your conscious brain on to think about that, you'll realize

that and recognize that.

And so, I promise you that it as you will identifying and understanding more of the

principles that govern this world in which we live.

And striving to aligning your beliefs and behaviors in alignment with those principles,

you'll be in a state of love and a state of happiness in your day to day actions and your

day to day circumstances.

Regardless of whatever is happening around you and regardless of what may look like it's

going to happen in the future, the truth is we don't know what's going to happen.

So, staying in the present, enjoy where you're at today and have an amazing life.

Marouane Fellaini transfer confirmed as he departs Manchester United for China - Duration: 1:30.

Manchester United have confirmed Marouane Fellaini has left the club to join Chinese side Shandong Luneng Taishan FC

The Belgian midfielder was not in the plans of new caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and has now ended his five-and-a-half year stint at Old Trafford

Fellaini arrived from Everton for a £27m fee on deadline day in August 2013 and made 177 appearances for the Red Devils

Having now been deemed surplus to requirements, he has sealed a big-money deal with United understood to have received a fee of around £10million for his services

There was no rush to get the deal over the line on deadline day with China's transfer window still open, but he's now passed a medical and agreed terms despite missing United's last four games with a calf injury

United confirmed news of his departure on their website and said: "Everybody at United thanks Marouane for his service and wishes him well for the future"

Fellaini's departure is United's most notable bit of winter business, with no additions and a number of youngsters leaving on loan

Their main January success came on deadline day when they tied Anthony Martial down to a new long-term contract

NVIDIA Stock: Is China Really to Blame for the Slowdown? - Duration: 3:53.

Chris Hill: We're going to start in China, then we're going to work our way back to the United States.

It seems like almost every other episode of this month, China has entered the conversation

in terms of the economic slowdown.

Today, we get to add Nvidia to the growing list of companies in the United States warning

shareholders about China.

Nvidia reports earnings on Valentine's Day but came out this morning and said they expect

quarterly revenue to come in around $2.2 billion. That's down from $2.7 billion. That's a drop.

That's not just a step down, that's a drop.

Shares of Nvidia when we walked in the studio were down 12%.

Emily Flippen: I almost feel like, for Nvidia, China is a scapegoat.

Hill: Really?! Flippen: Yes! Without a doubt!

There's definitely going to be a pullback in gaming revenue from China because China's

regulations and current economic state, of course we're going to see negative effects.

But think about how much they reduced that guidance. That's not an insignificant amount.

If you look into that report more, not only is it China, where they tried to emphasize

the most, but also their data centers. Their data centers aren't growing as much.

That's a concern.

My colleague Aaron pointed out that data centers should be the backbone of the company.

That revenue shouldn't be as variable as your gaming chips.

So, I almost feel like, while they're trying to put the emphasis on China to make investors

feel like, "Oh, maybe this will change in the near future when we see a turnaround in

economic growth in China, this is just a temporary headwind," maybe there's something bigger

underneath the covers here. Hill: It's interesting.

The reason I reacted that way is because, you and I were talking this morning about,

what do companies blame when they miss on their earnings reports?

We'll get into this a little bit more later in the show.

The go-to joke is always about companies blaming the weather.

Sometimes that's perfectly valid and sometimes it's not.

But I feel like we've seen enough evidence out of China and enough companies talking

about China to feel like the economic slowdown is real.

Now, to your point, if there's more going on in the case of Nvidia, then yeah,

that absolutely could be a situation where they're taking a number of challenges that they're

facing and lumping them all in China. But China's on the list for them.

Flippen: Without a doubt.

I don't want to downplay the importance of the economic slowdown in China.

It's going to negatively affect a lot of companies.

I'm a huge investor in Chinese stocks, so unfortunately, I'm all too familiar with what

an economic slowdown for China means.

Nvidia also doesn't just have exposure to a general economic slowdown, they have exposure

to regulatory hurdles that they're going to face in terms of the demand for games in China

in a regulatory environment that isn't very supportive of gaming right now,

especially for the younger generations. There are a lot of headwinds for Nvidia.

I just think, whenever I see reports coming out like this, when there's such a drastic

change and they really try to emphasize one point that's a very, very salient point,

but then they downplay what could be the larger issue boiling underneath the surface...

So, without a doubt, definitely has something to do with China.

But it also wouldn't be as lenient as to say that's the only thing affecting Nvidia right now.

Hill: And now we can add this to the list of conference calls that are going to be interesting

to listen to, and what kinds of questions management faces, particularly about the data centers.

Obviously, there'll be a lot of focus on China, as well.
