Hey guys, it's Marphic!
I've returned from you grave you all probably thought I was in.
"Rest in peace, gone without a word, abandoned his fans & broke their heats.
Maybe I'm being too dramatic.
I've been gone for nearly three months and considering my last post was not necessarily a
'real video' that reflects I try to convey through my content
It's been... - *holdupwhat*
Well shoot, January?
Maybe I did break all your hearts.
While I haven't posted much on YouTube, I try to stay updated on my other social media platforms
Twitter and Instagram.
And while I have been checking up on the community and what's been happening through my feeds,
I wasn't giving anything back.
Barely any posts or updates from me!
If my efforts were to stay relevant withing the animation community
I might as well been trying to rekindle a dead fire by poking it with a stick.
ITDOESNTWORKTHATWAY
You-nmn- >:(
You think that's gonna do anything, you uncultured swine?
You gotta poke it harder.
Actually, I've been doing a lot of work behind the screen
but I owe you a thorough explanation as to why I disappeared.
I'm not just gonna say-
"I wus reely buseee-"
No.
You're gettin' the full story, so sit down, and please listen!
Thank you.
If you've already watched the first video available on my channel from last summer
you probably would have remembered me saying something like,
"I quickly grow to hate my art style so I trash my character after every upload
and re-create him every time."
And while I have grown a lot since then
I was still in that mindset.. For a long time.
So I spent a month building this character, guy
Marphic- whatever for the umpteenth time
Frankly I was getting sick of it.
But each time I re-created him in the past, I would find ways to 1-up the design to make him look better.
Fix any flaws I found and added to him that was needed.
I know you're probably thinking,
"You bozo, why didn't you just make the adjustments to the character you already made
instead of starting from scratch every time?"
And you know what?
*BRAIN.DLL has stopped working*
Actually good question.
I think it gave me the satisfaction of seeing the evolution of my character design
and I think starting from scratch every time gave the guarantee of consistent design too
I finished the newest design and went to work with it.
I planned on making him the final style that I would use for at least a couple of months
so I gave him independently moving arms, hands and facial features so he was completely customize able
when I went on to animate him.
Are you confused?
Because I was.
I made a mistake.
WHELL!
This is too much to work with... What?
Not 5, not 8, but like,
at least 12 active layers and moving parts?
This is overwhelming.
So you know what I did afterwards?
No I didn't cry. I started from scratch again.
Saving myself from insanity and losing the motivation to continue animating.
It took another month to do.
My tears can wait.
Aside from school, I've been occupied with work regarding school and post secondary.
As much as I wanted to work exclusively on animations,
I'm also a human being that's tasked with personal responsibilities.
I can't just be a content creator only.
I'm not going to do this sort of work if I'm going to ignore everything else in life,
Because I'd die.
"Mark!"
Yeah, whazzup mom?
I have a couple of papers here from that scholarship meeting we had earlier today at your school.
I want you to read through them, and apply to as many as you possibly can.
As many as possible..? That would take weeks.
So you better get started right away with making the applications!
Well I guess my art will have to be put on hold.
I mean, she was right.
The more applications I sent out, the more likely I was to receive more scholarships and bursaries.
That's more financial help for college, so not really an arguable idea.
To me at least, if you have a different opinion and would have debated against my mother
if you were me...
Fantastic, you would've been schooled.
I spent another month printing, collecting papers, writing essays,
Begging my superiors to write me reference forms,
until I had amassed dozens scattered across my room which I ultimately compiled together in order,
drove to the nearest campus,
*Desperate air succ*
-and pass those thing in by hand-
I still have papers in my room I don't know what to do with.
Fortunately though, through working on a refined character design, submitting several scholarship applications,
personal stuff and spending several hundred dollars on a suit,
Through all that... mess,
convoluted chaos, whatever you wanna call it,
I caught a break.
Somewhat I guess, it's a matter of how you look at it but-
It was prom.
The day of prom turned out to be really nice.
The weather was nice, so we got some good pictures for the morning and afternoon.
At the beginning of prom, there's this thing called a 'walkthrough'
It's public, so relatives can come in (this is indoors by the way),
sit down, and take pictures of their embarrassed children and nephews as they walk down the center isle
of the gym floor, decked out with pillars, decorations, and a back drop to cover the gym wall.
My prom date and I were one of the first couples to walk down the isle.
The couples that already finished the walkthrough were hanging out at a closed-off spot,
now including us,
when suddenly the loudest crash I ever heard echoed throughout the whole building.
It wasn't the sound of a person tripping and hitting the floor, no.
It was like...
*Ahem*
*BIG OOF*
What the hell was that?
At first I thought someone made a really hard fall
or a pillar next to the isle was knocked over and broke the floor
The Nokia 3310 has nothing against whatever made that sound against the floor.
*drop*
*smash*
None at all.
The person responsible stumbled into the room was laughing incoherently, like,
Explain to us what happened?!
She apparently knocked over the back drop.
Nobody was mad or upset, quite the opposite.
We had a chill time afterwards and we spent a good hour playing the most
legit game of bingo in another room.
((Come on, come on, I just need this one number to win. Please, give it to me!))
"G6!"
Someone who isn't me: "BINGO!"
What the ffffu-
-uuuun times!
And uhhhh, yeah.
I might have been too descriptive on that whole prom part.
It could have been its own video since I didn't even cover everything that occurred that night.
But that's everything leading up to now,
and that's why I haven't posted anything for a while.
I'll try to be more active because I absolutely love doing this and I could never completely
leave and abandon everything I've already built for myself around the community.
I'll see you all real soon!
