Political correctness is a weapon - Duration: 8:28.
Hi there!
and welcome to the Lord Pepe channel
now my summer holiday is over and I have returned from studying in Hungary.
I went all over the place, for example.
Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro and Bosnia Herzegovina.
but now I'm back on the ice cube [Iceland]
and will continue as usual.
That is continue to share my thought with you my dear viewer.
the subject of the day is political correctness.
Then let's define that for starters.
I would say it was avoiding certain terms and expressing certain thoughts.
which some find exclusionary, marginalizing or offense to groups of people.
You made a show that concerns itself with what can be made fun of.
and what is forbidden.
Did you learn anything? Have you reached a conclusion?
no, not really.
We are much better people than we used to be.
than we were when we made Heilsubælið [old Icelandic comedy sitcom]
We have started to respect minorities a lot more.
[These two both starred in Heilsubælið]
we are a little more careful.
but there are people that are always willing to take offense.
no matter what
awkward
I think Saga [her name] has a decent point.
but I'd like to add a few things.
not that I mean to debunk Saga in particular, but rather I propose that so called political correctness has started to revolve about something else than avoiding disparaging minorities.
because in the hands of activists and politicians this has become a weapon.
Which has the role of promoting yourself and shaming others.
to advocate for some cause or simply for oneself.
I think and I actually hope that most of us agree that it is at least improper to put on a stand up comedy show that primarily focuses on degrading people because of their ancestry or race.
in a malevolent way.
but you don't have to look for long to find comedy that relies on ancestry.
but isn't really controversial.
This would hardly be called degrading since this is soft and cute.
still fun though!
This will however get very controversial when the jokes get more spicy.
Well there we have it! It's frowned upon to make jokes of certain groups but it's open season on others.
I personally think we should draw the line with regards to intent.
Are you poking fun or making soft jokes that rely on stereotypes.
or are you trying to degrade certain groups.
others think this is all about positions of priviledge on society.
without providing any objective standard how these privileges are quantified.
but let's put that aside for now.
Alda and Særborg for example made a horrid attempt - horrid attempt at humor in their podcast [see video non binary lunacy]
Their position seems to be that it's OK to joke about killing certain groups but not others.
That's inter-sectional feminism in a nutshell.
I can just imagine that feminist groups would be in flames if someone had a stand up comedy show with long sadistic descriptions of the best ways to kill women.
They would call that hate speech but they don't care when it targets groups they don't like.
Anyone that knows me should know that I am hardly a fan of this ideology.
the reasons however might be surprising.
I don't like because it can for example easily be used to justify racism.
or other prejudices, those that align themselves with this ideology, portray themselves to be fighting against racism, but any prejudices are justified against groups that are percieved to be on a position of privilege.
I for one cannot understand this ideology any other way.
It's fine when we do it, but when somebody else does it, it is a totally different matter.
personally I find this ideology harmful because it fosters hypocrisy.
It's reasonable to conclude from it's premises that racism isn't bad in and of itself but rather it's only bad when it is aimed at certain groups.
but I'd argue that racism is bad in and of itself.
but maybe when it relates to jokes this is all about taste...
It's understandable that many people find this one in bad taste!
but it's useless to argue about taste.
It's impossible to argue whether or not red is better than yellow or vanilla is better than mint.
mint icecream is better than vanilla though, but I'll leave that argument for a later date.
So if you don't like some spicy joke there is no need to advertise it unless you want to put yourself up on a pedestal.
If so you can get fucked and leave other people to their lowbrow sense of humour in peace.
If you use political correctness to promote yourself or your cause, then you're not fighting for minorities.
then your just taking advantage of a bad joke or a gaffe to promote yourself.
That's not fighting for minorities you're just a prick.
How about if we make the same standard apply to everyone?
for example racism it's bad no matter where it comes from.
when it comes to dark jokes the question seems about to be about taste.
so it's useless to even think about it.
That's all folks. Thank you for watching.

Katie Price is 'having marriage talks with toyboy beau Kris Boyson, 29, as she hopes to walk down - Duration: 5:06.
Katie Price is 'having marriage talks with toyboy beau Kris Boyson, 29, as she hopes to walk down the aisle for a fourth time'
She recently said she wished she met her new boyfriend Kris Boyson 'years ago'.
And Katie Price's romance with the personal trainer appears to be going from strength-to-strength, with the pair reportedly talking of marriage.
According to The Sun, the former glamour model, 40, who is in the midst of her divorce with her estranged husband Kieran Hayler, 31, is keen to walk down the aisle for a fourth time after finding love with her toyboy beau, 29.
A source said: 'Katie and Kris have been talking about weddings and marriage since their first weekend away together - and she's not even divorced yet!.
'She's telling everyone that she wished that she met Kris years ago.
'She even joked at her birthday that Kerry Katona could be a bridesmaid.
'However, a spokesperson for Katie denied claims and said: 'Katie is spending her time working on her fitness, children and her family, particularly her mum.
It comes after the pair made their romance Instagram official last Thursday, after months of dating.
The smitten television personality shared a loved-up snap of herself gazing into Kris' eyes with her 1.
8million followers, simply writing: 'no words needed'.
Kris also shared the same snap on Instagram and, clearly overjoyed the former glamour model went Instagram official, he added: 'About time!'.
Katie shared another sweet tribute to Kris on social media - who she claims has helped her through the toughest year of her life, after dealing with her husband Kieran's infidelities and being delivered the news that her mum Amy was diagnosed with a terminal lung condition.
She said on Instagram: 'All my 5 children are my absolute life and now @krisboyson has come in my life at the most challenging hardest time I've ever been through and proven to be such a amazing person wish I'd met him years ago he is such a mans man.' [sic].
Their romance followed her split from third husband Kieran Hayler, who was unfaithful to Katie on multiple occasions.
His affair with their family nanny emerged last summer, while Katie revealed last week that he had also enjoyed a saucy tryst with a 19-year-old Co-op worker.
During the interview, Katie admitted to using her estranged husband's fingerprint to unlock his phone, in order to uncover his latest alleged infidelity.
She explained to OK!: 'He kept accusing me of stuff and it was annoying me because I knew he was probably cheating.
'Anyway, one night when he was asleep, I got his finger and pressed it against his phone so it unlocked it, and there it all was.
The Loose Women presenter is known for her tumultuous love life.
After a four-year marriage with Peter Andre ending in 2009, Katie moved on to a brief marriage to Alex Reid, before tying the knot with current husband Kieran Hayler in January 2013.
Of her numerous trips down the aisle, she said last year: 'I've had a few more weddings since [Peter].
Katie also revealed that she's learned to do things on a more modest budget, as she said of her Bahamas ceremony with Kieran: 'The last one was only about 10 grand.
'We did it in the evening.
Instead of having afternoon guests and evening guests, we invited everyone to watch us, then went straight into a hog roast.'.
