Waching daily Jun 26 2018

America has had its share of crooks (Warren G. Harding, Richard Nixon), bigots (Andrew

Jackson, James Buchanan), and incompetents (Andrew Johnson, George W. Bush).

But never before Donald Trump have we had a president who combined all these nefarious

qualities.

America's great good fortune was to begin with the opposite – a superb moral leader.

By June of 1775, when congress appointed George Washington to command the nation's army,

he had already "become a moral rallying post," as his biographer, Douglas Southall

Freeman, described him.

He was,"the embodiment of the purpose, the patience, and the determination necessary

for the triumph of the revolutionary cause."

Washington won the war and then led the fledgling nation "by directness, by deference, and

by manifest dedication to duty."

A president's most fundamental legal and moral responsibility is to uphold and protect

our system of government.

Donald Trump has degraded that system.

When he threatens to loosen federal libel laws so he can sue news organizations that

are critical of him and revoke licenses of networks critical of him, he isn't just

bullying the media.

He's threatening the constitutionally guaranteed freedom and integrity of the press.

When he equated Neo-Nazis and Ku Klux Klan members with counter-demonstrators in Charlottesville,

Virginia, by blaming "both sides" for the violence, he wasn't being neutral.

He was condoning white supremacists, thereby undermining the constitution's guarantee

of equal rights.

When he pardoned Joe Arpaio, the former sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona, for a criminal

contempt conviction, he wasn't just signaling it's okay for the police to engage in violations

of civil rights.

He was also subverting the rule of law by impairing the judiciary's power to force

public officials to abide by court decisions.

When he criticized NFL players for kneeling during the national anthem, he wasn't just

demanding they demonstrate their patriotism.

He was disrespecting their – and, indirectly, everyone's – freedom of speech.

When he berates the intelligence agencies and the federal bureau of investigation, he

isn't just questioning their competence.

He's suggesting they're engaged in a giant conspiracy to remove him from office – potentially

inviting his most ardent supporters to engage in a new civil war.

When he boasts that he made up information in a meeting with the prime minister of Canada,

he isn't just undermining his own credibility.

He's undermining the credibility of the united states in the eyes of the world.

Donald Trump is degrading the core institutions and values of our democracy.

But America is fighting back.

In Alabama, voters turned out in droves to elect a Democrat to the senate for the first

time in 25 years.

In Pennsylvania, Republicans lost control of a congressional district that went for

Trump by nearly 20 percentage points.

Since Trump took office, Democrats have flipped 39 Republican-held state legislative seats.

The 2018 midterm elections are approaching.

It's up to all of us to keep up the momentum.

In the face of the worst president in history, we are at our best when striving to strengthen

our democracy.

Life is crazy what do I do? - Duration: 5:45.

Hello everyone, welcome back to....

Okay

This week there is nothing special

But there is just one thing that I want to say

In life, have you ever felt like you are just too busy?

Well, life gets crazy

Life itself is crazy

But, you know there's a saying

When life gives you lemon

Make a lemonade!

The thing is, to make a good lemonade, if you want it to be nice

You need sugar

You need to mix it with water, not just the lemon

So there's a lot of things needed to make the lemonade

In this situation for me

This past week I was sick and I don't have time to make video

What I've been trying to do

and what Grace often told me

I need to make a plan

a solid plan and not just a plan in my head

I'm a very visual person, so.....

I need to look at something tat I can refer to

So today I'm going to try and make

DIY calendar from a whiteboard!!!

So yeah, here we go!!!

Okay, so a few things that you need

to make the DIY calendar

of course you need the whiteboard itself

and then

depending on how big the whiteboard is

you need a measuring tape

and...what I found out is

ahh, I forgot what is this called

Okay soo

and washi tape

so washi tape is basically like

sticky tape but it's easier to peel off

and it doesn't leave any mark

and you can choose what color you want

there's a lot of colors here

so the colors there and measuring tape

and the whiteboard itself

so I've started making it halfway

this is what I've come up with at the moment

and I still need to continue this

and the measuring tape is for measurement *d'oh"

Even though I think this is still uneven

and the most important

while you are doing all these

there are two things

One, we need coffee while doing the work

and also we need snack

and today I have

Bika Ambon!!!

So yeah, I'm going to continue the work

Hopefully it will turn out good

Okay there is one important thing that I forgot to mention

to continue this work we need cutter

to cut the extra lines that we don't need, but...

I don't have a cutter at home

and we have to make do with whatever we have

so I have this small scissors

what kind of scissors is this?

I usually used this to trim my nose hair

Guys...Intermezzo

Do you know what kind of action is lying to your friend?

That is a very....

despiteful action *indo pun alert*

Guys...another intermezzo

Do guys know an old Britney Spears' song

not "Hit me baby one more time"

there is another one that is quite famous

You don't know?

Here, let me sing it for you, the song is

*lame pun alert*

Okay guys, after quite a while

it's finally done

This is how it look like

and the good thing about this is...

so if we had change month

we can easily change it

we can erase it

then we can change the date and month

we can put my "to do list" here, here and here

and this is probably the important stuff

or whatever, I don't know

what to do with this space

but yeah, basically it look like this, it's not perfect

but I think it's good enough and probably...

I need colorful marker so that it looks prettier

so yeah that's it for this week

and hopefully this will help

for my planning stage going forward

of things that I wanted to do and things that I can do

I have a lot of things that I want to do

But can't do due to my poor time management, hopefully this would help

and yeah that's it

Alright, see you guys next week, byeeee

Powerful Stories: This is Doug's Story - Duration: 3:23.

It was painful like it was like my feet were literally on fire. I am stuck out

of the window and with my line boots on and everything else and I just couldn't get any relief.

My name is Doug Boehm. I work for SaskPower. I've been in the line

trade probably a good 40 years.

I remember the day was June 2nd 1988

and we get a call, an emergency call, so we have to go fix this.

So when I was sidelining the pole, I was backing up to see, taking a look as I'm backing up,

knowing full well that the line was there but what I didn't know

was how close I actually was. So I pivoted to see how close I was

and as I pivoted, my right foot dug in the ground and I tripped and I fell

right on top of the line. 14,400 volts. I didn't go out, I remember it, and I had my

mouth open, I couldn't close it. I do remember looking at my left foot

when they finally got my line boot off because they cut him off and the swelling

from the electricity had made it so you couldn't even tie the boots if you wanted to.

It had to get cut off. You're awake you know they're gonna operate,

you look down at the end of the bedsheets and your feet are sticking up like this.

The next time you wake up the sheets are flat. So now what are we gonna do?

because now, there is no walking, okay, there is no way of getting out of bed,

How do I get dressed? I'm supposed to be that guy that experienced this accident,

share my experiences and promote why we shouldn't do what we did

and we should be looking at more of a safety minded way of doing things

as opposed to the way it was.

Once I was out of Wascana on my own, it took me about two months I was back on

my motorcycle with my prosthetics and with her, we were...

we were supposed to be married July.

Hell of a way to get out of wedding. They postponed the wedding to October.

October 1st. So October 1st comes along I walked down the aisle, danced at our wedding

Was it a struggle? To say the least. But did it stop a guy?

Power - whether it be your wall socket or whether it be in the air of multiple

lines or tower lines, it's all deadly and it deserves the respect

that is asking for and not to take it lightly. And farm accidents, there's that.

There's way, way too many of that. All it takes is that long.

And then you end up with, well, these conversations.

New "postcard-sized" IRS Form 1040 tax is smaller, but no less complicated - Duration: 3:35.

The government has succeeded in shrinking Americans' most common tax form down to one page -- but it hasn't necessarily made the IRS Form 1040 less complicated

Here is a draft of the soon-to-be released Form 1040 that CBS News obtained (below left), compared with the current form (right)

A "postcard-sized" Form 1040 was a major selling point of the administration's divisive tax cuts

President Trump even kissed a version of a postcard at one meeting to show his approval

But experts say that while the law does simplify the process for some Americans, many will still have to go through the same or similar hoops to complete their taxes with this new format

"Don't confuse creating a postcard with simplifying a tax filing, it's not the same thing at all," said Howard Gleckman, a senior fellow at the Tax Policy Center

The legwork to claim many popular deductions and provide other critical information has been moved off the tax form to one of six accompanying worksheets

Gleckman said that most taxpayers are going to have to fill out one, if not more, of the new accompanying forms

And the new structure makes some beneficial components of tax law, such as the ability to claim the earned income tax credit -- which is designed to help low- to moderate-income working people -- harder to find

The new form is intended to replace the Form 1040, Form 1040A and Form 1040EZ (which already takes up a single page)

About three-quarters of taxpayers currently use one of those three forms

The tax law greatly increases the standard deduction, meaning that millions of Americans will simply claim the deduction and skip the time-consuming process of itemizing on their taxes

The Tax Policy Center estimates that about 27 million fewer taxpayers will itemize under the new law

But taxpayers may still need to crunch the numbers to see if they should itemize or not

And an estimated 19 million filers will continue to itemize, according to TPC, so they will still need to fill out one or more of the six additional forms

The supplemental paperwork would be needed to make common tax moves, such as a reporting an educator expense or claiming a deduction for interest paid on a student loan, as well as reporting childcare expenses and retirement savings contribution credits

It's likely that the bulk of taxpayers won't notice much of a difference, since more than 90 percent complete their taxes online

That means they still answer all the same questions regardless of how the paperwork is laid out

"I am not sure this is going to make a whole lot of difference," Gleckman said

The Treasury Department was expected to unveil the new form this week and did not immediately comment on the draft document to the AP

The IRS also did not comment.
