Whats up guys.
One of the worst things that ever happened when I was on a shoot was I looked into my
viewfinder and the LCD screen of my Panasonic HC-X1 and the picture was black.
I could still see the menu overlays but nothing was getting through the camera.
I freaked out because I thought my new $3000 camera was broken already.
Was the lens cap on?
No.
Were you standing in the dark?
No
So?
So, what happened was not enough light was getting to the camera sensor and I didn't
even know it because it was a sunny day.
So let's take a look at how we can fix these light problems and get rid of that black screen.
Chances are you accidentally set the iris setting to close.
You probably set the iris to open all the time, but I didn't even know it could be closed.
And when it's closed it means no light is in the camera and the screen will be black.
So just press the Iris button on the side of the camera to set the auto iris, or turn
the iris dial towards open and that should solve your problem.
If that doesn't solve the issue, or you are in a darker place, then maybe another
light setting is wrong.
Turn off your ND filters, Zoom all the way out and turn the camera from manual to AUTO
and add high gain if you have to.
If it isn't pitch black around you and the picture is still black on those super bright
settings, then something else may be wrong.
If you were lucky the problem was not enough light to the sensor.
And if it still doesn't work I hope somebody in the comments can find a solution or another
thing we aren't thinking about.
If your problem is the LCD screen is not working, then watch the previous video.
Thanks for watching.
Please let me know in the comments if this issue or any other issues have you stuck.
