Waching daily Jan 3 2019

One of the biggest challenges people struggle with is sexual shame or guilt.

It's complicated, it's deep, and it can make a daunting mess of sexuality.

So I reached out to BetterHelp, an online counseling service I really like, to partner

on answering the question: Is masturbation a sin?

[WHIP CRACKING, COUGH]

Once upon a time I was a Christian.

This is my Bible.

I've kept it to tell you this very story.

Genesis (first book) Chapter 38 - Judah and Tamar, the most common reference to masturbation

as a sin.

While travelling Judah met Shua "married her and went in to her."

That's the second verse of the chapter.

Judah and Shua get married and have penetrative sex.

Here's a family tree to help.

Judah and Shua have three sons.

Er, the first born, then Onan, and Shelah the third.

Verse 6: Judah takes a wife for Er, the oldest son.

Her name is Tamar.

Verse 7: Er was wicked so the Lord killed him.

Judah (the dad) then goes to his second born son, Onan and says quote "go into your

brother's wife and marry her, and raise up an heir to your brother."

This is known as a levirate marriage.

Levirate from the Latin word levir meaning husband's brother.

The tradition obligates the brother of a deceased man to marry the widow and inseminate her.

Levirate marriages still exist in places like Indonesia, Somalia, Cameroon, Nigeria, Kenya,

and South Sudan.

For many reasons but primarily to maintain the first born son's patriarchy and as a

way to make sure that the widow is taken care of.

In some cultures, women don't have resources to survive without family,

so the marriage is security.

Here's what the Bible says happens in this levirate marriage between Onan and Tamar.

Onan has sex with her but pulls out.

"He emitted on the ground."

He withdrew.

He coitus interrupted.

He did not ejaculate sperm filled semen into Tamar.

"The things which he did displeased the Lord, therefore He [capital He] killed

him also."

In addition to killing Er, God killed Onan the external ejaculator!

From this we've been led to believe that rubbing between our legs, spilling seed is a sin.

BUT this is a big misunderstanding.

Onan wasn't masturbating.

He was rebelling against a social custom -- not impregnating his brother's widow.

The chapter goes on with Judah promising his third son to Tamar, because the first two

were killed by God.

It's fascinating!

Judah actually ends up mistaking Tamar for a quote "harlot" or prostitute and impregnating

her himself.

Ahhh, the Bible.

As it turns out masturbation isn't in here as a sin or otherwise!

There is a second part in the New Testament which people will interpret as "masturbation

is a sin" BUT it's actually referring to lust as a sin, not self-stimulation.

Matthew 5:27 "You have heard that it was said of those of old 'You shall not commit

adultery.'

But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery

with her in his heart.

If you right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more

profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast

into hell.

And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is

more profitable for you that one of your members perish than to be cast into hell."

It's fascinating how the Bible is interpreted.

There's nothing about masturbation in these sixteen hundred plus pages and yet

kids are swatted for exploring their bodies.

There are still millions of women who haven't experienced an orgasm because they've been

shamed out of touching themselves.

People think urine comes out of vaginas because looking down there is even taboo.

The surgeon general under Clinton, Joycelyn Elders, was asked to resign after saying that

yes, masturbation could be a safer sex option during the AIDS crisis.

Masturbation is so much safer than most kinds of sexual activity and it feels amazing, but

many of us our taught that it's a sin, don't do it.

How did we get from this really old book written in a language that people don't speak anymore,

to a shame so ingrained in our sexuality that I know some of you still aren't comfortable

touching yourselves?

BECAUSE IT's NOT A SIN!

In 1760, the Swiss neurologist Samuel Auguste André David Tissot published an anti-masturbation

pamphlet, Onanism (named after Judah's second son).

Tissot argued that masturbation and other non-procreative orgasms he collectively called

the self-polluting disease Onanism would lead to decreased strength, poor memory, a

decline in reasoning, blurred vision, nervous disorders, arthritis, pain, tenderness, bloody

urine, headaches, and a disturbed appetite.

Because of these terrible maladies we should do everything to prevent this type of stimulation.

How did society respond?

Strapping ourselves down, eating bland food, restraining our genitals in gnarly contraptions,

and removing the penis' foreskin so it's not as nice to pleasure ourselves.

STOP IT!!!!

Masturbation is not a sin.

Masturbation is not a sin.

Masturbation can be healthy for your body.

And it is not a sin.

Stay curious.

Two things to tell you:

Thing number one: If you're not already matched with an awesome counselor on

BetterHelp.com/sexplanations -- please consider it a gift to yourself.

I've worked with multiple therapists on their site to make sure the service available

to you is outstanding.

Currently I'm matched with an LPC (a licensed professional counselor) who is also a registered

nurse and a doctor of psychology.

She doesn't know anything more than my name and my personal challenges because that's

all I've shared.

You can have someone smart, helpful, and kind help you process your life, too.

It's $35 a week to start or even less if you want to do a free trial or qualify for

financial aid.

AND if you don't like your person, seriously it's so easy to say goodbye -- no hard feelings

or tons of money spent on trying to make it work.

Thing number two:

Since filming this episode I met Matt Whitman who produces a show called the Ten Minute

Bible Hour, all about Christianity and what is really being said in this book.

He was thrilled that I took on the topic of masturbation in the Bible because quote "masturbation

is not a sin."

So thrilled, Matt did something really cool and added a video to his channel that goes

into more detail about masturbation NOT being a sin.

I've put links to Matt's video and BetterHelp's website in the description.

Take care of yourself.

What Is the Cost of Medicare for All? - Duration: 1:40.

Have you ever waited in line for hours at the state-run DMV?

Or wanted to pull your hair out at the government-operated Post Office?

Well if some members of Congress have it their way, government red tape and lackluster customer

service would also extend to health care.

Government run health care has recently been repackaged as Medicare for All and is a big

move away from free market competition.

As a result, the quality of service will likely drop and taxes will skyrocket.

Many medical professionals have also indicated they won't participate in a government-run

health care system—so you may not be able to keep your existing doctor.

In practice, this could mean waiting hours for much needed medical care or up to a year

for surgery—a major problem for time sensitive procedures.

The price tag of Medicare for All is also jaw-dropping.

Instituting the program is estimated to cost over $3 trillion per year.

That's more than the U.S. government spent on the military, healthcare, social security

and other entitlement benefits combined in 2015.

Inevitably, that additional financial burden would fall onto the American taxpayer—slowing

economic growth and stifling business expansion.

Medicare for All may sound good in a campaign stump speech, but putting the idea into practice

is risky and comes down to one question: How do we pay for it?

What is Predestination? | Predestination in the Bible | GotQuestions.org - Duration: 4:09.

Today's question is, "What is predestination?

Is predestination biblical?"

In this video I'll answer that question from a biblical perspective.

Afterwards, as always, I'll share some helpful resources, so stick around until the end.

Romans 8:29-30 tells us, "For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed

to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.

And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those

he justified, he also glorified."

Ephesians 1:5 and 11 declare, "He predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus

Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will…In him we were also chosen, having

been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity

with the purpose of his will."

Many people have a strong hostility to the doctrine of predestination.

However, predestination is a biblical doctrine.

The key is understanding what predestination means, biblically.

The words translated "predestined" in the Scriptures referenced above are from the

Greek word proorizo, which carries the meaning of "determining beforehand," "ordaining,"

"deciding ahead of time."

So, predestination is God determining certain things to occur ahead of time.

What did God determine ahead of time?

According to Romans 8:29-30, God predetermined that certain individuals would be conformed

to the likeness of His Son, be called, justified, and glorified.

Essentially, God predetermines that certain individuals will be saved.

Numerous scriptures refer to believers in Christ being chosen, for example: Matthew

24:22; Colossians 3:12; and 2 Timothy 2:10.

Predestination is the biblical doctrine that God in His sovereignty chooses certain individuals

to be saved.

The most common objection to the doctrine of predestination is that it is unfair.

Why would God choose certain individuals and not others?

The important thing to remember is that no one deserves to be saved.

We have all sinned (Romans 3:23) and are all worthy of eternal punishment (Romans 6:23).

As a result, God would be perfectly just in allowing all of us to spend eternity in hell.

However, God chooses to save some of us.

He is not being unfair to those who are not chosen, because they are receiving what they

deserve.

God's choosing to be gracious to some is not unfair to the others.

No one deserves anything from God; therefore, no one can object if he does not receive anything

from God.

An illustration would be a man randomly handing out money to five people in a crowd of twenty.

Would the fifteen people who did not receive money be upset?

Probably so.

Do they have a right to be upset?

No, they do not.

Why?

Because the man did not owe anyone money.

He simply decided to be gracious to some.

If God is choosing who is saved, doesn't that undermine our free will to choose and

believe in Christ?

The Bible says that we have the choice—all who believe in Jesus Christ will be saved

(John 3:16; Romans 10:9-10).

The Bible never describes God rejecting anyone who believes in Him or turning away anyone

who is seeking Him (Deuteronomy 4:29).

Somehow, in the mystery of God, predestination works hand-in-hand with a person being drawn

by God (John 6:44) and believing unto salvation (Romans 1:16).

God predestines who will be saved, and we must choose Christ in order to be saved.

Both facts are equally true.

Romans 11:33 proclaims, "Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of

God!

How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!"

Outlander | Season 4 Episode 6 + Jamie is Reunited with his Son!! | Wild Reactions - Duration: 5:51.

Hello my fellow explorers and welcome to a very special holiday edition of:

I'm always weeks behind watching Outlander because my parents are always home

Yeah

Long story short, it is currently Christmas Day.

It's like 6 o'clock, maybe 6:30 or something like that. I have about an hour

To get one of these done

So it's basically my life now is just trying to cram these videos in when I can.

I've got this hour nice Christmas tree in the background.

And our fireplace that's not lit with like one rogue stocking.

Let's do this. Let's see when this actually gets uploaded

it'll be well past Christmas at this rate.

So I think, based on my calculations of where I'm editing, I'm on episode 406 "blood of my blood"

Correction is currently 8:11.

It's not 630. One of these days you guys will get sick of me dancing to this or maybe you're already sick of it

I don't know. Let me know in the comments below if you guys are sick of me dancing to the intro

Every time well

Wow we're just jumping right into John Grey showing up.

These feelings I'm feeling right now, very strange.

He just casually shows up in the middle of nowhere

We're all asking this question. Such a weird friendship.

Go see your child. I feel like they constantly you're filming at this same Creek.

I love Murtaugh!

Willie!

What did you do? Awkward!

So many things are happening at once.

Willie looks like a snot-nosed brat. At least Claire's figured it out.

Oh, wow so much tension. There was a nice fun crease down the middle of my shirt.

Awww

He still has it. We all know he still has it

I'm here for this rivalry for Jamie as affection.

Where's Ian?

Go play chess Jamie.

Oh Murtagh doesn't know.

Cuz we don't keep secrets from our wives.

Me every time I drink anything remotely hard liquor there.

They're going to get so drunk.

He's sick.

Cha boy is down for the count.

Where's Ian. Ian is supposed to be sick too, isn't he? I think I don't know.

The book, I read this part so long agoooo.

This boy is such a brat

I swear Jamie looks like a completely different person with his colonial garb on with this

fur

jacket and

Trying pointed hat. I know there's a name for those hats.

But I don't know it.

yes overlooking mountains and rivers and waterfalls.

Boy just admitted to having sex with his wife thinking,

his wife thinking

He loved her and him knowing he didn't love her dropping so many bombs

So many Mics dropped in this scene.

Teach your son some lessons Jamie!

Get your hands dirty William. He's not a fan of that

Well damn!

So overdramatic!

If I had the opportunity to sleep by a waterfall I'd be so excited.

I totally forgot about that.

Ope, shocker!

Master William's gone.

Native Americans give no sh*ts

I'm sorry. What?

I don't member this in the book.

That was some drama.

Oh. You've got your dad's courage!

John's face is so concerning

I didn't think a face could look that red except for when I was eight and playing little league soccer.

Where is Ian? If we ever get you to see a grown up William, I'm gonna be shooketh.

That must be so hard for John Grey like dang

Now I'ma need William to look back at him and wave.

Do it do it do it

You know, if that's we're gonna end an episode. I'm good. That was cute.

I also just realized the very end of the last episode was one Bree went through the stones and I completely forgot until now Wow

Oh, it's not over

For some reason I thought there wasn't gonna be it a steamy sex scene in this episode.

I was apparently wrong. Watch my parent's walk in.

You know, that's a weird line not sure if that was really that smooth

Yeah, it does.

Now that it's closer to what I imagined the original ring looking like.

I feel like all of this was in the original

ring, supposed to be.

Cuz if I remember correctly, the point was that she never took it off and then

Those 20 years later when she was trying to figure stuff out in her own time

She finally took it off at first and realized there's the inscription in it. Well, it was a much slower episode

But a not bad episode it was a needed episode just not as much happened. We're gonna get there

I think the next one will be

The next one will be a doozy. Thank you guys so much for watching. Who knows when this will come out actually

Let me know in the comments below

If you guys are tired of me being really late to upload these.

I don't know or just don't let me know in the comments below.

At this point, I'm like why am I making these episodes?

I don't know some of you like to watch them. Anyway, thank you guys so much for watching.

Please make sure to subscribe and I will see you guys next time. Happy exploring

Is 2019 the year for your new business? - Duration: 2:29.

2019 will bring lots of new opportunities.

Not just the chance to visit a new place to eat.

But maybe own a restaurant or other business of your own.

The Small Business Administration estimates an yearly average of

627-thousand new businesses starting every year.

Starting one is a popular new year's resolution.

And the jump in interest is something

the Small Business Development Center at UTRGV

sees at the start of each year.

We do tend to see an increase around mid-January,

late January and then it just holds up the entire spring.

S-B-D-C is one of the organizations

that can help aspiring business owners.

They could come to training workshops,

They could get some research and more importantly,

they can meet with an advisor, one-on-one, confidential

and at no cost to them,

so they can determine, you know,

what stage of development they are in their business.

Don't be discouraged if you don't know what research is needed

or you don't know what the stages of development are.

Just come to the center.

We'll see your idea, and we'll run it to see if it's a viable idea.

That's Samuel Vallejo Hernandez,

the program coordinator at the UTRGV Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Center,

another organization that can help prospective business owners.

Of course, you're going to need money in a certain time for your business timeline.

But that doesn't mean you can't start working on the intellectual aspect of it.

Both organizations emphasized the importance of proper planning

and hope people ignore misconceptions about starting a new business.

One of those myths is

I need to have $20,000 in my account to start my business.

You could have that money, start your business

and by the end of the week, crash it down

if you don't have the right preparation for it.

Both centers assist current business owners as well aspiring owners.

While most of the services at SBDC are free,

the Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Center has a membership fee

which covers amenities like work space, printers, and a business mailbox.

The university also recently opened

the UTRGV Center of Innovation and Commercialization in Weslaco

to help entrepreneurs and startup companies.

I would just really encourage the whole community

to reach out to the Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Center,

as well as all the other organizations that are here for you.

Use us.

We are here for you.

Your success is our success.

Information about each of these centers

is available at U-T-R-G-V dot E-D-U.

Grinning Nancy Pelosi is confirmed as Speaker for the second time - Duration: 22:22.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi returned to power on Thursday and marked a new chapter in President Donald Trump's tenure in Washington as he faces a Democratic Party on a collusion course with his administration

Grinning broadly and holding up the speaker's gavel, Pelosi leads a party with power to subpoena Trump officials, investigate him, and block his legislative agenda

She did not mention Trump by name but she called for civility among the parties as they disagree and ask for the truth to be respected - a subtle dig at a president who is accused of name calling and lying about his record

'Let each of us pledge that when we disagree, we will respect each other and we will respect the truth,' Pelosi said

'Transparency will be the order of the day,' she added. She also didn't mention the partial government shutdown that clouded her ascension to power

Democrats and the White House are at an impasse over funding Trump's $5 billion border wall

The wall got no mention but she did talk about an issue important to Democrats - protecting the children brought to the U

S. illegally by their parents. 'And we will make America more American by protecting our patriotic, courageous Dreamers!,' she said

At the end of her remarks, Pelosi was caught on mic wondering if she missed some of her speech

'I think I skipped a couple pages. I'm not sure,' she said.   Pelosi invited her grandchildren and the children of any other lawmaker to join her at the dais when she took the oath of office

About 50 kids ran the podium to join her as Republican Rep. Don Young, the dean of the House, administered the oath of office

'I now call the House to order on behalf on all of America's children,' Pelosi said after she was sworn in as speaker

She then offered to let the children return to the parents before she administered the oath of office to the rest of the House

'No,' she laughed when the parents rejected her offer. She asked the lawmakers to stand and raise their hands

After she read the oath she told them: 'Congratulations. You are all now members of the 116th Congress

'Pelosi was officially elected Speaker of the House in a roll that vote that saw the woman who became the first speaker in 2007 ascend to the job again

'I am particularly proud to be the woman Speaker of the House of this Congress, which marks 100 years of women winning the right to vote, as we serve with more than 100 women in the House of Representatives – the highest number in history,' Pelosi said

House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy handed her the gavel, marking the end of eight years of GOP power in the House

'The country knows Nancy Pelosi as an experienced politician with three decades of service in Congress

A fighter for her cause. And a trailblazer,' he said. 'Even when we disagree with one another completely -- it is important to remember that we are bonded together in a common cause

Our love for America.'After being formally elected, Pelosi strode down the House aisle in triumph to take the gavel from Republicans

California Democrats serenaded her after her win, singing 'California Here We Come

' 'Having received a majority of the votes passed, Nancy Pelosi is elected speaker of the House,' House clerk Karen Haas announced

Democrats gave her a standing ovation, cheering and whopping on the House floor. A couple of Pelosi's grandkids ran to hug her

Other lawmakers gave her hugs and kissed her cheek.  Democrats cheered her from the start of the session, which began with her nomination

'House Democrats are down with NDP,' Democratic Rep. Hakeem Jeffries said of Nancy D'Alesandro Pelosi as he nominated her to the job

'Nancy Pelosi is just getting started.'He said of the longtime lawmaker: 'Nancy Pelosi is a woman of faith, a loving wife, a mother of 5, a grandmother of 9, a sophisticated strategist, a legendary legislator, a voice for the voiceless, a defender of the disenfranchised

'The roll call vote began shortly after 1 p.m. with the Clerk of the House calling out each member in alphabetical order

Pelosi sat on the edge of her seat at times, smiling broadly as Democrats called out her name

She would swivel her head around the room to watch as the votes racked up in her favor

Louie Gohmert  said in 2017 when he cast his vote for Ryan for speaker. more videos 1 2 3 Watch video Pelosi's granddaughter can't hide excitement during House vote Watch video 'Back off me b****': Dramatic moment man is tasered in Louisiana Watch video Pence administers oath to reelected and new senators Watch video White man aggressively grabs black woman working at McDonalds Watch video Terrifying moment armed gunman attacks Florida hotel worker Watch video Democrats plan to vote on budget without border wall funding Watch video Teenage boys seen playing with guns before tragic double shooting Watch video China's Chang'e-4 touching down on far side of the moon Watch video Moment 50-year-old man drives car into New Year crowd in Germany Watch video 'Forty Dollars A Pop' documentary talks about Aaron and his children Watch video Hilarious moment when animals notice a mirror in the Rainforest Watch video Man's failed attempt to kiss a woman on Dutch tv 'Because climate change is not a Chinese hoax, Nancy Pelosi,' Democratic Rep

Jared Huffman said of his vote that same year. Lawmakers may also abstain by voting 'present

'A majority is required for a win. In 2007, Pelosi and her team worked to make sure she had the unanimous support from Democrats to seal her historic rise as first female speaker of the chamber

After Democrats won the chamber in the 2018 election - picking up 40 House seats - there was chatter Pelosi may not take the speakership again

But the California Democrat proved her chops as one of the best negotiators and vote counters in Congress by locking up her return to power

She cut a deal with dissident Democrats to gain the speakership but at a price - she will be out of leadership in four years

Protest votes are usually tolerated during the speaker election. Out-and-out betrayals of your party are not

In 2000, the last instance where a lawmaker voted for the other party's speaker's candidate, then-Democratic Rep

Jim Traficant voted for Republican Dennis Hastert for speaker. In response, the Democrats stripped him of his seniority and he lost all of his committee assignments

m. and is expected to end just before 2 p.m.Once the vote for speaker is done, Pelosi was sworn in by the Dean of the House, the chamber's longest-serving member, who is Republican Rep

Don Young of Alaska. After Pelosi took the oath of office, she will address the chamber to give her vision of leadership

'This House will be for the people,' she told NBC News, adding Democrats will work to 'lower health costs and prescription drugs prices, and protect people with pre-existing conditions; to increase paychecks by rebuilding America with green and modern infrastructure – from sea to shining sea; to pass HR 1 to restore integrity to government, so that people can have confidence that government works for the public interest, not the special interests

'Then she swore in the rest of the House. The first day of a new Congress takes on a first day of school atmosphere

Most lawmakers are dressed in their finest. Several bring their families and children are also dressed up, particularly if they want to go on the House floor

The House dress code requires men to wear a jacket and tie.Lawmakers will be reminded there are no photos on the House floor - a rule the younger members may have trouble with

Both members and their staff wore lost looks on Thursday as they tried to figure out the labyrinth system of hallways and tunnels that make of the Capitol complex - the Capitol building itself, three House office buildings and three Senate office buildings with an underground system of tunnels connecting them all

New members received their lawmaker pin Thursday morning - the jewelry item that identifies them as a member of Congress

It allows them to bypass the metal detectors in and out of the Capitol building and surrounding House office buildings

They also received their voting card so they can use the House's electronic voting system

Rooms in the Capitol were set up for receptions. Several new members were spotted going into one basement room wearing silver 'madame speaker' pins in support of Pelosi

After the speaker's vote, members will debate and vote on three measures: a rules package to govern the rules of the House and two resolutions the Democrats proposed to reopen the federal government, which is on day 13 of the partial shutdown

It will be a long first day for the new members. The last votes are expected around 9 p

m.   In between floor debates and voting, members and their families will be able to get their photos taken with Pelosi to commemorate the occasion
