The more clueless I am

The more it will go against me

In the interlaced time and space

The soul speeds down

Dreams left no traces

The dream transformed space and time reality, like flickering lights, was hard to grasp

I stood at the top of the mountain and prayed to the night sky

The meteor crossed the sky

It passed the nebula in the clear sky after rain

Yet I couldn't see

There weren't many appeals, I only prayed for peace on earth

The steel city never hears a moment of tranquility in the roar

This soul is abandoned like an infected wound

But be cold no more. Hold your hands together

Embrace warmly. Don't be too silent

Regardless of right or wrong, the courage has always been there

Dream left no traces

Look ahead, the night is tight, full of panic and continue to grow

Swiftly, after one night, the spring breeze will come and everything will grow

Get rid of former callousness, stubbornness and resistance

Yet I still have to endure the abduction of materialism

I want to stay true to my original intentions

I still firmly believe in the ideals I've had

Sadly, all presumptions, efforts, and promises of that time

were swept into the wind and are all in vain

Look back to revisit the scenery along the road

Make corrections till I'm satisfied

God gives me encouragement from my heart

Dreams left no traces

Wait no more, don't find excuses to say you're helpless

If you want to win, you have to prove yourself right now

If you don't want to be a coward, then act strongly

Looking into the future, I am expecting more

Constant progress is my attitude. I can't wait

From the beginning to the present

Never stop and never be mediocre

Never lazying around, yielding or following blindly

I never stopped dreaming

Go ahead and dispel this fatigue

Bravely stride forward

Wake up the heart

Can't wander anymore, don't wait any longer

How helpless it is if you can't hear the reality

If the future can't be seen, it's better to start a new era from now on

If you want to win, you have to hurry

and prove yourself right now

Every time I look out of the window facing the other side

I want to change the times

Start crossing through this dawn. Please don't be discouraged

Take my courage, don't worry

Use my full force to break the bottleneck and start the big plan

I take every day

As a new beginning, a new revolution

Cannot wait, I want to change the current situation

Dreams left no traces

Dreams have not changed

The number-one factor that contributes to student learning is teacher passion:

teacher passion for the subject area that they're teaching; the sense of wonder, curiosity,

excitement around your subject.

That excitement, that curiosity, that passion … creates an energy that the students really

get excited about as well.

You want to see their eyes sparkling.

You want to hear what they have to say about either what you're teaching or the project they're engaged in.

They're taking incredible risks and putting themselves out there.

The push is no longer coming from you as a teacher, but the students have taken over

the momentum and are driving the project themselves.

The perfect place for my students to learn?

A space with space.

I currently run a robotics program in the smallest room in our school.

A tech-dedicated space where we have the manufacturing equipment,

where we've got the 3D scanners, we've got printers, maybe even a CMC machine in there.

Students being able to say, "This is the place where I can come and focus on my learning

but also be myself and who I am."

Technology is also the students' world.

Technology is the sea that this generation swims in.

The variety of technologies that are available, the richer our solutions will be, the more

comprehensive, the greater the … efficacy of the solutions.

My biggest piece of advice for pre-service teachers would be to teach who you are.

On a fundamental level, you become the subject.

Remedies for Treating a Sore Throat|HFE♪ - Duration: 10:09.

Remedies for Treating a Sore Throat

After gargling the chosen remedy, be careful not to swallow the liquid, since it will be contaminated with the bacteria that is causing your sore throat.

A sore throat feels like irritation, itching, discomfort — basically, pain.

It may get worse when you eat or drink certain types of food. Sore throats can be treated with antibiotics as well as a variety of natural remedies, but if you're not sure what to try, we'll give you some options.

Gargle with warm salt water.

One of the oldest home remedies for a sore throat is to gargle with warm salt water.

It can help relieve pain, break up mucus and reduce swelling.

Ingredients.

½ teaspoon of salt (3 g) 1 cup of warm water (250 ml).

What should you do?.

Add the salt to a cup of water and mix well.

Swish for a few seconds and spit it out: it should not be swallowed or reused.

It is recommended to repeat the process once per hour.

Hot lemony beverages.

Chances are you've heard about this lemon beverage before, or some variation.

Well, there's a good reason for it: it works!.

Ingredients.

The juice of 1 lemon 1 tablespoon of honey (25 g) 1 cup of water (250 ml).

What should you do?.

Add the lemon juice and honey to a cup of hot water, mix well and consume.

It is important not to overdo the ingredients; use them sparingly.

Honey.

Honey is used for all kinds of health issues, and a sore throat is no exception. It can help suppress your cough and relieve your sore throat.

The honey coats your throat, so it temporarily calms the irritation, which is what causes the cough.

Generally, two teaspoons of honey (15 g) are recommended at bedtime to relieve nighttime cough and sore throat and improve sleep quality.

People who consume honey before bed cough less frequently and severely, and are less likely to lose sleep compared to people who do not.

You can also add a teaspoon of honey (7.

5 g) to drinks, or consume a teaspoon of it during the day.

Note: Honey should never be given to children under one year of age, due to the risk of botulism .

Used as an herbal remedy, sage tea is very useful to treat quite a wide variety of throat conditions.

It provides effective short-term relief. Sage contains compounds, such as cineole, borneol, camphor and thujone, and has astringent properties that can help relieve your sore throatand reduce swelling and inflammation.

Ingredients.

1 teaspoon dried sage leaves (5 g) or a spoonful of fresh sage leaves (15 g) 1 cup of water (250 ml).

What should you do?.

Bring the water to a boil and add the teaspoon of dried sage or fresh sage.

Let it steep for 10 or 15 minutes, strain and drink.

You can add lemon and honey if you wish.

Note: Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid sage supplements.

Cough drops.

Cough drops — whether homemade or bought at the store — can help with your sore throat.

Sucking on cough drops, especially those that contain refreshing ingredients such as eucalyptus or mint, stimulatesaliva production, which helps relieve throat pain.

Take a shower.

The most damaging thing for your throat is dry air.

That's why you should try to keep it moist as much as possible.

Humidifiers, for example, are especially useful in winter.

When the air in your house or outside is dry, take a nice shower with hot water.

You can also turn on the hot water faucet and sit in the bathroom for a minute, breathing in the vapor.

Lemon gargle for a sore throat.

An excellent home remedy for a sore throat is to gargle this lemon mixture as soon as you wake up and before bed.

Ingredients.

4 cups of water (1 liter) 1 medium onion, chopped The juice of 3 lemons 1 tablespoon of honey (25 g).

What should you do?.

Boil the water, add the onion and let it cook for 7 minutes.

Next, strain the infusion and add the juice of the 3 lemons and honey.

Gargle with the tea twice a day.

Remember not to swallow the liquid.

Gargling with water and salt or vinegar is also a great way to help relieve inflammation and a sore throat.

Go ahead and try these simple home remedies and say goodbye to the pain!.

Lee Martin-2018 Prime Minister's Awards for Teaching Excellence in STEM - Duration: 2:39.

I think one of the main factors that contributes to student learning is creating authentic

learning tasks for them.

And, when you're a teacher that believes that students can achieve anything, then you

start to create learning experiences for them where they're at the centre of it and that

they're driving the learning.

When it's authentic to them, then they create an emotional connection to it, and that's

something you're not going to get in a textbook.

I think one of the things that we do too often as teachers is build the space before the kids come into it.

If the space is then designed to support them…

We need to allow them to be in that space and then build it organically around their needs.

I also think it's important to view your classroom like a home.

When you view it like a home and you treat it like a home, then you start treating your kids like family.

And, when you treat your kids like family, there's nothing that they won't do for

you as far as taking risks and making mistakes; it really improves their investment in their learning.

I think technology positively impacts the learning process because it empowers our kids

to explore the world, to make connections.

Being able to connect with other groups around the world, I've seen my students develop an empathy.

They're able to see the challenges that people around the world face, and when we

do that, they're then able to use the technology to formulate positive and sometimes wonderfully

creative ways of solving … or helping those people that are in need.

We have a makerspace in our class and our students have developed this maker mindset

where, if there's a problem, "we can solve it. We can do anything."

It's so incredible how they say those things, so they taught themselves, with my support

and some parents, how to sew reading buddies that they then are taking up to different

groups of kids to empower them for a love of reading.

My biggest piece of advice for pre-service teachers was the same advice that I got when

I first started teaching, and it's if you ask yourself, "How does this best support kids?

Is this what is best for kids?"

And, if that's your "why," if that's what drives everything that you do each day,

then it's always going to have a positive impact on your students; it's always going

to have a positive impact on your learning; and it's going to create a classroom where

the kids are beating down the door just to learn each day.

The number one factor that contributes to student learning really is their level of

comfortability in the classroom.

If they are in the classroom and feeling comfortable, they're going to learn.

And, I think that if I can make them feel that way, I've done my job and they're

going to walk away learning.

When students come into my classroom, right away I want them to understand,

"This is not going to be what you're expecting."

I want to be letting the students know that I want to hear from them.

I want to ask them, "How are you doing? What's your day been like?"

Every class that I do is a continuation of the previous one.

This isn't a series of individual lessons.

They come back expecting to pick up where we left off, and it's a continuous interaction,

it's a dialogue between us.

And, I just sit and listen, and I think, "You're a 14-year-old Grade 9 boy!

Listen to what you're saying!"

Unbelievable comments that come out that you just can't believe … you have to remind

yourself, these are young kids.

If I were to create the perfect space for students to learn, I've always pictured

very organic learning.

I love it when the students write on the desk.

I think it's … I think it's something almost … they feel like they're doing

something bad, but the reality is that they're thinking big.

It has to be a place where the students like to come.

They know what's going to happen today. "I can't wait to get there."

It isn't the tools necessarily. It's the people.

That's the perfect learning space.

Technology, to me, is this: If teachers don't have an online presence, I think they need to,

because that's where the most current information is.

Teachers should be on Twitter.

If you follow the right people, you're going to be picking up on the latest and greatest

information in your field.

You have to start fresh. It has to be you.

It can't be somebody else's resources.

Put the textbooks away. Get rid of the binders.

Develop your own material. Learn your one thing.

Speak to the kids on a level that they can connect with.

You know, want to teach with the students, ask them questions as well.

And, these are things that … you'll have a good career if you get into your area and stay current.

I think the number one factor that contributes to student learning is the ability to learn

in a hands-on environment that supports failure.

Students that can learn in an environment where they can safely fail get to have chances

to construct their own knowledge and to create meaning from what they are learning.

The perfect place for students to learn would be having the classroom in the school as a

sort of debrief area and a collaborative area to consolidate what they've learned, but

I feel that the best learning would happen with partnerships.

I think that students work and learn best when they are applying what they're learning

in real-world contexts, so creating those partnerships … in my experience I've seen

that that's really been impactful on their learning.

We have a really great partnership right now with Baycrest Health Sciences; they're piloting

a program called NeuroBright.

There's a handful of students we get paired and mentored with actual research scientists

and grad students.

They are going to be giving our students mobile EEG equipment to measure brain activity, so

they learn about neuroscience while conducting their own experiments and they're going

to culminate in a conference where they share their results.

It's authentic and they're really, really excited about it.

And so it all started when I was teaching Grade 12 Biology for the first time and I

decided to splurge with the science budget on a bacterial transformation activity.

This kit basically puts the tools of genetic engineering in the hands of 17-years-olds,

and, of course, they absolutely loved it.

I think technology positively impacts the education process, because it allows students

to connect with one another locally, globally, and it allows students the opportunity to

learn how to innovate and collaborate with that technology.

Students also need the opportunity to learn how to use technology

in a responsible and equitable way.

My biggest advice for pre-service teachers is to find what you're passionate about

and follow that passion no matter what.

Figure out what you're good at early and work towards honing those skills.

You might feel like you're trailblazing and that's hard to do, but it will pay off,

and your students will benefit much more from you taking risks and thinking outside the box.

Michel Emery-2018 Prime Minister's Awards for Teaching Excellence - Duration: 2:43.

Students learn a lot more quickly, and learning is enhanced, when students are engaged with

the resources that they are using; when they're motivated by the lessons that we're teaching,

they're inspired by the environments that we provide and are excited to be there to learn.

Students are so connected these days.

We need to leverage technology to make learning real for them, to be …

to kind of take a step in their world.

The perfect space that would contribute to student learning, I feel it's really important

to give options to students.

I think it would be like looking at a home.

I think it would be like a blend of a living room, a kitchen, a library—places where

students could relax, students can collaborate, do research.

A bit of a mix between a Starbucks and a Chapters.

You know, places where you come in and you feel comfortable and you feel there's all

these resources around you and that learning could just blossom from there.

Technology provides new opportunities and reduces barriers.

We can manufacture now in schools.

We can use 3D printers to create products and solutions to problems of today.

We can use laser cutters and we can code robots.

So, technology does reduce our barriers.

It enables our students to connect with a global audience.

I think it's a really exciting time for education.

Technology enables us to solve problems in our communities.

In the North, in the Yukon, we're quite a ways from different cities.

We don't have as many opportunities as students down south have, so using virtual reality,

you could provide different learning opportunities and expand our students' horizons.

Now with technology such as VR and 360 photography, students are able to contribute and share

their world, their communities and their experiences with the world.

My piece of advice for new teachers is, be curious, be bold, and see every child you

come across as this opportunity to make a difference in their lives.

Stop and say "hi" and be interested in them, and have fun, of course.

Donna Armstrong-2018 Prime Minister's Awards for Teaching Excellence - Duration: 2:08.

The number one factor contributing to my students' learning has to be positive relationships.

In my classroom, we try to create a safe and caring environment, where all students are

encouraged to explore, and to contribute, and to create, and to connect to others.

We make sure that everybody is able to contribute in their own way.

I have three rules in my classroom.

The first one is respect, trust and performance.

And, within those guidelines, we try to make sure that everyone has an equal opportunity,

that everybody is able to express their ideas with constructive criticism, able to explore

the different technologies, with assistive devices, if necessary, so that everyone feels like they belong.

The idea behind communications technologies is that we are able to give students meaningful

opportunities that use industry-standard software and concepts, and that they are able to use

those transferable skills into the workplace or post-secondary.

My biggest piece of advice for pre-service teachers is that in university you learn all

about classroom management and the curriculum, but the foundation is building relationships.

So, for me, making sure that when a student comes to my classroom that they feel like

they belong, they feel like they can contribute, they're somewhere where people care about them,

because I'm their biggest cheerleader.

Rebecca DiLeo-2018 Prime Minister's Awards for Teaching Excellence - Duration: 2:46.

The number one factor that contributes to student learning would definitely be the art of collaboration.

It would be students coming together with one another, teachers collaborating with students,

and students and teachers collaborating with professionals out in the community.

So, I would really suggest, tap into that community, get the students together,

get them working together, create that energy, create that synergy.

It really leads to a much stronger, more impactful final result.

I feel at Central Toronto Academy, we are essentially creating that perfect space, together,

collaboratively, as a team of teachers and students.

Students are very invested in the transformation of the space within our building—

literally, physically, inspirationally.

At Central Toronto Academy, we don't like to refer to the classrooms as classrooms.

We refer to the spaces as studios, so students get into the mindset that they are in a real

working environment, because that they are.

We make all our spaces very, very inviting—for students and our community connectors, parents that walk in.

Everyone is, like, "Wow! This is a high school?

This is not like my typical high school experience anymore."

So, the spaces are always evolving and transforming,

based on student needs and interests, and what they want.

And, they're managing the spaces and they're very hands-on.

Technology has had such a positive impact with my students at our school because we

are very social-media savvy.

Try and bring social media into the classroom whenever possible. It's just such a great tool to communicate.

Technology needs to really be part of the every day narrative and language within the

classroom when it comes to using digital equipment, possibly for filmmaking or photography.

Within the graphics class, students take their artwork off their sketchbooks.

They upload it onto the computer.

They can tweak it in some of the apps, in Adobe, industry-professional software programming,

and then they can take it off the computer and put it on to products.

The image you present online should be the image you are presenting in real life as well.

My biggest piece of advice for pre-service teachers is to really find your niche within the school.

Recognize what your passions are and find your way to navigate through the curriculum

guidelines, to navigate through the system, and bring your passions to fruition.

The more excited a teacher is about a project, that transfers to the student learning environment.

Félix Arguin and Guillaume Laporte-2018 Prime Minister's Awards for Teaching Excellence - Duration: 2:53.

The main factor that promotes student learning is motivation; it is the engine of learning.

When we are able to do something for someone on the other hand, to help someone,

to have a little influence on our community—there is great pride and then it directly influences the motivation.

So, everyone can be helpful, and if we can help someone else in the process, in learning,

well it's an added value.

The perfect context, I do not pretend to know what it is, but I think it is in line with collaboration—

real collaboration between the student and the teacher, but also between the student and his community.

It is often said that it takes a village to raise a child.

Well, the school makes a good village, but we can enlarge the village to include the whole community.

Maybe the village should be outside the school.

Maybe it's the community, or maybe even the whole world.

So, there are links to be made externally.

If we can get our students out of school, that's probably the best context, in my opinion.

There is no doubt that technology can have positive impacts if, of course,

we provide our students with a solid grounding in technology and digital citizenship.

Technology can easily simplify repetitive tasks, but it also open up opportunities for collaboration.

It also allows students to develop a greater critical sense.

It's important that technology skills in the 21st century—the skills that employers are looking for—

are often related to technology.

But, at the same time, it's not necessary to use technologies for creativity or problem solving,

but there is an advantage in being able to be versatile with technologies and to use them effectively.

Then it can improve our creativity and efficiency in our daily lives, in our jobs,

but also it allows us to learn more independently.

Do not be afraid to try.

Be curious.

I think there is no better model for a student than to see his teacher learning on a daily basis.

Surround yourself with people who have energy, who have a passion, who want to surpass themselves,

who want the good of the students, and to always be on the lookout around you, to see

what links I can make with my community or to improve certain projects,

to always see what can be done better or what we can improve.

Then, not to be afraid to take risks because we are in a great profession and we can be proud of it.

Pieter Toth-2018 Prime Minister's Awards for Teaching Excellence - Duration: 2:35.

I feel that the number one thing that contributes to student learning is engagement,

so being able to make a connection.

So, engagement in terms of how do we get them feeling like they're part of something more

than just a person sitting in a room listening to another person standing in a room.

The biggest thing I've found, in 25 years, is what brings students to a classroom and

makes them want to be part of a classroom, is that they feel they are making a difference.

So, they way they can make a difference is by making your curriculum real,

by making the projects that you do real-life.

I have three questions on the wall of every classroom I teach in:

What are we learning today?

Why are we learning it?

And, how does it connect to our lives?

I think if I could create the perfect space, it would be a balance between room and functionality.

I would love to see couches and chairs in an area.

I'd love to see computer stations in an area.

I'd love to see a variety of different technologies.

That's the physical part of it, but it's the emotional, it's the intellectual part

of it that's also really important, because they have to feel safe.

Part of the things we do, is we design the classroom, so every time I teach that course,

the classroom changes.

We do research into different designs.

We do research how to do the technology, how it should look, and then the students,

in their groups, take the room that we have, they measure it out, and they look at everything

that's in there and they think, 'How could we rearrange this' to fit what their needs are?

I think that technology is one of the keys to any learning process.

And, the reason is that it's part of the reality of the world we live in.

Technology is a tool, like anything else. It can be distracting.

It can be destructive or it can be constructive;

it can be a device that opens up the whole world to them.

One of the sayings that's on my wall—one of the Toth-isms—is that learning begins

where Google ends, so my focus becomes less of, 'Here's a whole bunch of facts,'

and more of, 'How do we apply these facts?

How do we make connections at a higher level?' because we don't have to worry so much,

you know, about how do we get this information that are the building blocks, because it is available.

My biggest piece of advice for pre-service teachers is the 360-degree feedback approach.

So, they have to focus on themselves as learners and know who they are as people before they

can become the best teacher they can be.

So, the more transparent you can be, the more authentic you can be as a person, as a teacher,

the more effective you will be.

That networking, that mentorship—that to me is absolutely critical to figuring out

who you are as a person, who you are as a learner and who you are as a teacher.
