Why the World is Running Out of Pilots - Duration: 11:36.

For the longest while airlines treated pilots as a renewable resource.

It was long considered one of the best jobs one could have—to make good money flying

around the world in comfort—but as aviation has become more commonplace the job of pilot

has too become more and more just like any other job.

While in the 50s the job garnered the same respect and pay as a doctor, entering the

industry today earns you not much more than you'd make at a fast food restaurant.

Before a pilot can even perform their first take-off with passengers in the back they

have to get licensed.

Most top airline jobs require or strongly favor those with a college diploma so for

those that want to go all the way in the field they have to start by getting a degree.

The cost of that averages $133,000 in the US and then every aspiring commercial pilot

first needs to get a private pilots license which requires 35 hours of flight-time.

These first bits of flight time, which are with an instructor, typically cost about $140

an hour or $4,900 total.

You also have to take classes which have their own fees so getting a private pilots license

usually costs about $8,000 all in.

To start actually making money as a pilot, though, you need 15 additional hours of instruction

for an instrument rating costing $900 and an additional 215 hours of flight time costing

$23,500.

There are also tons of other smaller costs for books and housing and transportation and

other things which bring the total cost of pilots training to at least $80,000.

Having done all that, having spent $213,000 on education so far, one finally receives

a commercial pilots license but still, at that point, one can't work for most airlines.

To get an Airline Transport Pilot License, the one needed to work for large commercial

airlines by the likes of Delta or KLM or Cathay Pacific, one needs, with some exceptions,

1,500 flight hours.

That would cost an additional $136,000 in rental fees alone if one were to pay for the

flight time themselves so pilots normally let someone else pay for it by working at

a job that doesn't require a full ATP license.

The most common job used to get from 250 to 1500 hours is as a flight instructor but some

also work flying skydiving planes, towing banners, or for airlines flying small single-engine

planes.

Once that's all done, after having been in education continuously for a quarter of

ones life until the age of 23 and having spent hundreds of thousands of dollars one can finally

start flying commercial passenger planes and earning $30,000 a year.

That's a typical and even fair starting salary for a first year first officer and,

considering these individuals often have tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt,

young pilots are often in a tough financial situation.

Most Americans pilots start their commercial careers at regional airlines.

The largest of these is SkyWest airlines which is an airline that flies for other airlines.

You could be flying any of the three major American airlines—Delta, United, or American—and

actually be on a Skywest operated flight.

Skywest, along with other regional airlines, operate all planes for these US airlines with

under 76 seats.

They fly the smallest planes which are actually more expensive on a per passenger basis to

operate than the larger planes.

The regional airlines' primary purpose is to lower cost.

The aviation industry is heavily unionized so the major airlines would never be allowed

to bring in pilots at a yearly salary of twenty or thirty thousand dollars.

Therefore, they contract these regional carriers to operate the small expensive planes so the

crew can be employed at a different pay-scale even if the flights are branded as United

or Delta or American.

While a first year first officer for American Airlines makes $88 per flight hour, a first

year first officer for SkyWest only makes $37.

Pilots are only allowed to fly 900 hours per calendar year in the US which works out to

75 hours per month or about 17 hours per week.

Now, the idea of a 17 hour workweek probably sounds great but these are only the hours

in command of an airborne aircraft.

They don't account for the time it takes to get to the airport, clear security, brief

for the flight, inspect and prep the aircraft, board passengers, deplane passengers, pack

up, file paperwork, and get home or to a hotel.

Pilots are primarily paid based on hours in the air which is why you tend to see the more

senior pilots flying the longer routes.

A typical four-day trip for a regional pilot in the US might see them flying on Monday

from Minneapolis to Fargo, Fargo to Minneapolis, Minneapolis to Pittsburgh, then Pittsburgh

to Boston where they would stay overnight.

The next day, Tuesday, they would fly from Boston to Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh to Boston,

and Boston to Nashville.

After an overnight they would fly Nashville to Boston, Boston to Jacksonville, and Jacksonville

to Boston.

Finally, on Thursday, they would fly from Boston to Norfolk and then Norfolk to Minneapolis.

Over that four day, twelve leg trip they would be in the air for just over 19 hours.

That regional pilot would have been almost constantly either working, sleeping, or eating.

Compare that to a long-haul pilot flying an a330.

They would leave Atlanta on a Monday night, fly to Amsterdam arriving Tuesday morning,

and fly back Thursday after having had a full 48 hours free in Amsterdam.

On that trip the pilot would have accumulated 16 flight hours—not all that different from

the hours that the regional pilot gained after working constantly for four days.

It's no wonder why the most senior pilots, who have the seniority to decide which type

of plane and routes they fly, almost always go for the long-haul routes.

Meanwhile, while the young pilots don't get paid much and work tougher schedules,

the advantage for them of working for these regional airlines is that they can gain the

experience and hours needed to get a job at a more desirable airline.

The problem that the airline industry if facing is that not enough people are willing to put

themselves through all the years of expensive training, low pay, and long hours to get to

the stage where they make good money and fly the most interesting routes.

There is a shortage of pilots but it's hard to know how bad this shortage is—some say

it's a myth, others will say it's already chronic—but by one estimate the US alone

will have 1,600 pilot jobs unfilled by 2020.

While the problem is only predicted to get worse, the shortage of pilots is already having

consequences.

Emirates Airlines denies having any pilot shortage but the reality is that in April

2018 they flew 36 777's and 10 a380's over to Dubai World Central Airport, a less

busy airport than the main Dubai airport, and left those airplanes there on the ground

for months because there just weren't enough pilots to fly them.

The concerning thing is, Emirates pilots are some of the best paid in the industry.

Even young Emirates pilots make more than $200,000 a year and, thanks to local laws,

that's tax-free income.

Emirates has come under criticism for long work hours, insufficient rest periods, and

minimal pilot staffing for their longest haul flights which is likely a contributing factor

to their difficulty in attracting pilots but, if they're having trouble recruiting pilots

while paying so much that's not a great sign for the industry.

These high salaries from some airlines are also a contributing factor to the shortage

in the US and Europe, though.

The UAE is a small country with two massive airlines so they rely on recruiting foreign

pilots.

China, while not a small country, also doesn't have enough local pilots to staff their tremendously

fast growing airline industry.

The country's airlines therefore pay a starting salary of $312,000 per year to foreign pilots

and some make up to $500,000.

While working conditions are tough, it's still no wonder why 10% of all pilots in China

are now foreigners.

With more and more pilots heading overseas to the best paying pilot jobs the US, Europe,

and other western countries are left with fewer and fewer people to fly their planes.

The short-term solution for airlines in the US has been to fast track pilots through the

early phase of their careers flying small jets for low pay and get more pilots flying

the larger planes earlier.

That leaves the brunt of the impact of this shortage on small towns served by these small

planes.

US airlines especially, thanks to the country's vastness, operate with route networks emphasizing

service to small airports.

Rather amazingly, there are 553 airports in the US with commercial service.

United is perhaps the most focused among the big three US airlines on small town service

with 235 domestic destinations but, due to the lack of pilots, it's having to cancel

routes.

In September 2018 alone the airline stopped service from Chicago to Willard, Illinois,

Mobile, Alabama, and Manchester, New Hampshire even though these routes were likely profitable.

United isn't alone in this.

Horizon Air, the subsidiary operating Alaska Airlines' regional flights, had to cancel

thousands of flights in 2017 due to a severe lack of pilots.

There are a couple of possible solutions to this crisis.

The most obvious one is to increase pay and to improve working conditions but, from the

airlines' perspectives, that's the last-ditch solution as they focus on their bottom lines.

While it's tough to sympathize with these billion dollar businesses losing some money

as a result of paying a more livable wage, the reality is that if they're having to

pay more for the pilots to serve small towns it's going to cost more to fly to small

towns and those living in small towns are often the ones least able to pay.

Another commonly proposed solution is to attract more women pilots.

Only 6.7% of the world's pilots are female and so, by putting more effort into recruiting

that half of the population airlines could potentially increase pilot numbers without

increasing pay.

More and more airlines, such as Lufthansa and Emirates, are also operating up their

own flights schools where cadets can train for reduced rates or for free as long as they

end up working at the airline.

Airlines are also working to reduce the number of pilots needed.

Emirates, for example, reduced the number of pilots it uses on some of its longest flights.

On the 13 hour flight from Dubai to Sydney, for example, they now only staff three pilots

instead of four which means that each only gets four hours of inflight rest instead of

six.

Finally, one of the more controversial proposals to fix this issue has been to increase automation

in the cockpit to the point where only one or possibly zero pilots are needed to fly.

This proposal has met criticism from pilots, cabin crew, and the public alike as many opponents

point out that the cockpit is already highly automated and the pilot's main role is to

troubleshoot if things go wrong.

Nonetheless, with captains of wide-body planes earning more than $300 per flight hour the

cost of crewing the cockpit can be as much as $19,000 each way on the longest flights

like San Francisco to Singapore so there's certainly financial pressure on airlines to

cut down the need for pilots if they can.

There are thousands of people who become pilots each year but there are millions more who

want to become pilots.

To bring more people into the industry all airlines need to do is to lower the extraordinarily

high barrier to entry since as the industry grows worldwide, the allure of the skies won't

be enough to get enough pilots into the cockpit.

If you want to become a pilot two of the major things you absolutely need to have a solid

grasp of are math and physics.

concepts into their intuitive principles and build them back up so you don't just memorize

Is Wholesaling Real Estate Easy? - Duration: 9:46.

Hey friends, welcome back. Kris Krohn here. And today we're talking about weather

wholesaling real estate is easy or not. Because it is certainly the fastest way

for making loads of money. And I can't think of anyone better to train us than

my good friend, Jerry Norton. He's here, he is the flipping master. He's going to break

down for you really, the answer to this question. And really give you the

good the bad and the ugly like, really, is it easy or is it hard?

Is whole ceiling real-estate easy? Jerry? -Great question. You know what? When you

wholesale real estate, it's you're in, you're out. It's a quick strategy, it's

make some money now, move on to another deal. And there are some stuff so you

have to do with that. But if you think about any kind of flipping, you know,

where you've got to find the deal, you got to analyze it, you got to make an

offer, you got to get funding, you got to manage something, right? You

got... Or if you're wholesaling, you got to find a cash buyer. Of all of those things,

all of those are pretty much easy except one of them. There's one of them that

can be challenging. One of them that's kind of hard at today's mark. -And it's

got to be the money, right? Like finding the money it's got to be the hardest.

-That's what everybody thinks. It's like, "Oh, the money, their money, their..." No. The

money is easy, the money is out there. In fact, there's so much money pour in the real

estate, right now. -Did you guys hear that? I just want to make sure that you actually get

this real quick because so many... We're trained where... Many of you are watching

this you're like, "Oh, I'm too young, I'm too this, I'm not established enough, I

don't have credit and I don't have money, haven't maybe even been to college

or I don't have..." And you're thinking, the money is the whole reason why people

aren't doing real estate. Guys the money is... If you've already clicked the link in

the description on our other videos, if you've actually already been to the web

training, you know how easy the money is. Because Jerry has a host of free tools,

and free fining and all this great stuff. The money is easy. What's really the

challenging part when someone is getting in this game? -Well, because the markets

are doing so well, you know, across the country, generally speaking. The biggest

thing is finding good deals. Everybody's looking for deals, everybody's buying

real estate, everybody's putting money into real estate.

So, the key is being able to find a good deal. You figure that out and you're a

home run. -Now guys, listen. If you don't really know a whole lot about real

estate, you're like, "Great. Kris says I can make loads of money wholesaling real

estate. He says the money is out there. I don't have a flippin clue. How to flip a

contract because I can't flip and find a flippin' property." So, what you're looking

for is how do you actually find a good one. So, this video is all about is

it easy? Yes, if you have property. And I've asked Jerry to actually share his

number one favorite ninja tactic for how he crushes it on finding the very best

deals. -This is cool. This is the money strategy here. So this is an on

market strategy. Meaning, how do we find deals where there's agents, right? That's

listed with an agent. So, this is my number one strategy. You do this strategy,

you will have agents bringing you deals. -What do you call this? -Before they're

even listed. -What do you call it? -We call it the

double-dip strategy. -Okay. I already like it. The double-dip. -Yeah and that's sound

cool. -Okay, let's break it down. -Here's how it works. So, first of all, the thing that you need to

understand when it's on market that's a seller has a property, they've hired an

agent to list the property to sell it for them. Well, you may or may not know

this. But the way real estate commissions work is there's two sides of the

commission, right? There's the listing side and then there's the buyer side. So,

you have a listing agent who's got the listing. They put it on the MLS and then

a buyer's agent has a buyer that's out looking for property, right? The two come

together when a transaction happens. The listing agent typically gets 3%

and the buyer's agent typically gets 3%. Now, the seller pays

6% in total. But they split at 3 and 3. -So, this is kind of cool.

So, remember, you're on the buying side. You're getting into the game of real

estate. You want property. Someone else out there already has the property,

they're trying to offload it. They have to pay the 6%. -That's right. -Now,

just so you know how much 6% is. On a hundred thousand dollar home, that's

$,6000. On a $200,00 home, that's $12,000.

On a $300,000 home, that's $18,000.

So by the way, the seller has a huge financial obligation.

And he's going to pay half of it to his agent that is representing him. He's

going to pay the other half of it to the buyer's agent that's representing them.

And these two agents, you're never really interacting with the seller. So basically,

these two agents are negotiating with each other. These two bobbling heads and

they're both saying, "I want my 3% percent, I want my 3%. Can we

make a deal happen for our buyer and our seller?" And now we get to the

double-dip. -Yeah. What is what's cool. So, because it's so competitive and

there's so many people trying to get deals, think about the listing agent. I

want you to think about how valuable that listing agent is. They have the

listing, okay? They have a lot of say in what direction things go. -And that means

that there's a seller with the property and they're the one that is

representing it on the market saying, "Hey, I'm representing the seller of the

property." -That's right. So, typically what happens is, let's say it's a great deal,

it's a hot property, it's priced right. You might get ten offers. Now, imagine

nine of those offers are with buyer's agents. So, they're investors, that

investor has their own agent. And they're all making offers. Now, what would happen

if one those offers got accepted? 3% to the

listing agent, 3% to the buyer's agent. What you're going to do is you're going to go

against the grain. You're going to do something different than what everybody

else is doing. Instead of coming with a buyer's agent representing you, you're

going to go straight to the listing agent. And you're going to say... The listing agent

basically, "Hey, I'm interested in this property. I want to make an offer and I'm

not represented." I don't have a buyer's agent. In fact, I'll that you represent me

as the buyer's agent. Now, they're already the listing agent. So they're already

getting three percents. -Dude, you already starting to figure out why

they're calling this the double dip? Instead of this agent getting 3%

and this agent is getting 3%, you're basically igniting the

greed factor that the agents... -Oh, yeah. they're money motivated right? And

they're like, instead of thinking, "Well, I'll get six grand, they'll get six grand."

They're now thinking, "I'm going to get 12 grand. I'm going to get all the

money that's available." -If your deal goes through, the agent, the listing agent

makes twice as much money. -Now, what really gives you a competitive edge?

Obviously now, you've hit their greed factor. But dudem if there's a hot deal

out there and there's like, 10 offers on it.

-We'll get this. Using this double dip strategy, I've bought properties $20,000

below the other offers, equal offers, cash offers from other investors that were

coming with buyer's agents. Because think about it, the listing agent can go back

to the seller and say, "You know what? I know this guy, they come through, they'll

close quickly. I really think you should take this offer." Maybe they're a little

slow to submit the other offers, I don't know, right? But they now are motivated

and here's the thing: It's never about the deal in hand. -Yeah, guys that's a game

of people. -This is... It's about the relationship. Because now what happens is

the next time that listing agent gets a good deal, -They're coming right to you.

-Before they list it, they're going to call you up and say, "Hey, next Friday, I'm

listing this deal. Go check it out, give me your number. Let's get your offer in

already." -Yeah. Guys, Realtors almost never, agents almost never make the full both

sides 6%. So, you become the anomaly in their entire world. Where you become the

most important client on the face of planet. And I want to share something

with you right now. When we talk about those greed factor, you know, real estate,

it's an interesting game. It's not... It is a combination to what you know,

it's a combination of who you know. We're really catering to the who you

know here. And in the example Jerry said, you've got Realtors that are basically

they're financially incentivize to represent you. And it's putting them in a

really interesting situation because they now are representing the seller and

you as the buyer. And they're going to give you preferential treatment because

they have more skin in the game. Or they have more opportunity of what they

can gain. And think about it, it's technically called dual agency. And it

happens all the time. Imagine an agent's got a sign in the yard, right? On their

listing and a buyer drives by and sees the sign and they're interested in the

property. They call the sign and they say, "Hey, I drove by this house and I'm

interested in this house." The first thing that agent says is, "Okay, are you

represented?" And if they're not they'll say, "Great. Let's meet, I'll show

you the house. Sign this agreement here that says I'll be your buyer's agent." I'm

already the listing agent. -And now they have that dual... -It happens all the time. It's

called dual agency. -We're just going to use that as now as a strategy. -Wow,

so friends, dude this is amazing. So, the double dip is if you're out there saying,

"Wow, its whole selling easy?" Well, we're telling you that the money is

easy. Getting paid is easy. It's all about the deal. This is a

fantastic strategy. And I want to thank you guys sharing it. Here's the cool part

friends. If you want to know another easy way of finding really great deals like

this, Jerry actually built and created a software that works in the United States

in every zip code. And it tabulates and gathers all the data on all homes

and basically brings all it to your fingertips. And what it does is it

analyzes and finds the very best deals and puts them right in front of you. And

Jerry, how much they have to pay for that? -It's free. -I'm sorry, I want to be the

hero. I want to be the hero because and I brought Jerry on here. But really, you got

to be thinking this guy, right? -Yeah. -I mean, that's a sweet hookup. Guys,

all you got to do, there's a little bit of training on it. And Jerry's putting on

a web training. If you want to download the tool totally for free. All you got to

do is go to the link in the description below. Other than doing the double dip,

you also have the ability to just say, "Hey, here's my phone, I'm logged in and

I'm searching for deals." And by the way, one last final bonus. On the web training,

when you click the the description and sign up, Jerry will

also show you how you give you $10,000 for finding a good deal as a finder's

fee. So, if you want to be a finder, that's some of the fastest easiest money anyone

can get in real estate without needing money, credit, Bank qualification or any

of that. So, check it out. Make sure you sign up for it. And we'll see on the

next video.

What Is Object Design? Tim Parsons | SAIC - Duration: 3:05.

- Design is an illusive term.

We may think we know what it means,

but the closer we look, the more we see the word

being used to mean many different things.

As writer and design educator, John Heskett,

cleverly noted in his book:

Design, A Very Short Introduction.

It is possible to use all the

many correct applications of the word.

In a seemingly non-nonsensical,

but grammatically correct sentence.

Design, is to design a design to produce a design.

With so many uses of the word, it is not surprising,

that there is not one single clear definition

of what design is.

What is clear though, is that how someone chooses

to define design, says much

about their views on the subject,

and how they choose to practice it.

I'm going to share three quotes with you

from three different object designers,

and show you some images of their work.

Think about what they say, and how it relates to their work.

Design means how something works, not how it looks.

The design should evolve from the function.

James Dyson.

To James Dyson, the designer of the cyclonic vacuum

cleaner, design starts with an engineering innovation,

and the form is secondary.

Form is nonetheless very important in Dyson's products,

but he uses the form as a means of expressing,

rather than hiding the engineering within the object.

Design is the act of imposing one's will

on materials to perform a function.

Ron Arad.

To Rod Arad, renowned furniture designer,

the innovative manipulation of materials is his focus.

Arad loves to experiment with materials

and explore what they can do.

He will often use materials in surprising ways,

such as in his famous book worm bookshelf.

Design is about creatively exploiting constraint.

Nick Crosbie.

For Nick Crosbie, his company Inflate,

developed a vast range of products with a manufacturing

process used to make plastic inflatables.

The challenge of limited resources

is what drives the creative process.

Although he was the co-founder and CEO of Apple,

and not one of their designers,

Steve Jobs was heavily involved in the design decisions

for the Apple products developed under his leadership.

He says, "Design is not just what it looks like

and feels like. Design is how it works."

For Jobs, looks were important,

but he understood that especially with digital objects

that we interact with,

how they work is an essential part of their design.

So you can see that designers form an opinion,

about what design is.

And this enables them to create a world,

in which that view point is perpetuated

through the work they produce.

(upbeat suspenseful music)

- I'm getting tomato. (laughs)

- [Man] Oh, what?

- This is reading very tomato to me.

(upbeat suspenseful music)

- What's it smell like?

Ooh, I don't know.

(upbeat rap music)

(upbeat techno music)

(upbeat suspenseful music)

- One of these looks like, an orange kind of sauce.

- Oh they're nice and warm too.

Thank you, guys.

- I'm gonna start with this one 'cause it looks classic.

Looks like my favorite Trader Joe's brand.

(soft serene music)

(upbeat suspenseful music)

- Oh, there's a lot of,

there's a lot of pepper.

(coughs)

- It's good.

I like it, I like the consistency.

What's on there?

It's just pepper.

It's super good.

- I mean I love pepper and parm,

but that or something, it's like making,

you see it?

It's making my eye water.

- Well, I think it's great.

I think that's delicious.

I think whoever made it did a great job.

(upbeat suspenseful music)

- Okay moving on to this tomato soup.

I'm sorry, I think it's more like an orzo

with tomoto and onion, and I hate onion in my tomato soup.

I just like, blasphemy.

- What's it smell like?

Ooh, I don't know.

- There's clearly orzo in it.

So that's new for me.

(upbeat suspenseful music)

- It's good, but it doesn't, I don't know,

I was expecting tomato soup.

(upbeat suspenseful music)

- Not pleased. (laughs)

No.

- I don't know if I really like it.

- This is very not typical.

It definitely has like, saffron in it I'm guessing?

This one comes with little grilled cheeses,

which is just heavenly.

What a smart, smart person.

- This is the cutest grilled cheese I've ever seen.

It's like a little grilled cheese bite.

(upbeat suspenseful music)

Oh my God, you can't go wrong with that.

It's great.

- I think the cheese makes it taste good.

- It's like carb on carb though.

It's a lot.

This is like, you couldn't just eat this

and not be in the food coma of your life.

(upbeat suspenseful music)

Number one.

I'm gonna go with number one.

- Number one's soup wins.

- Number one.

For sure.

Is it better to show my house vacant or occupied | RealEstateTalk 006 | Spring Texas Real Estate - Duration: 1:11.

Welcome to Real Estate talk. I'm Jill

Wente, a Realtor with Better Homes and

Gardens Gary Greene specializing in the

Spring Texas real estate market.On

today's episode of Real EstateTalk the

topic is Should I sell my house vacant

or occupied? Which is better? The answer

is occupied. When you sell your house

occupied buyers can feel the warmth of

that house. Once it becomes a vacant your

house it is going to feel cold. Buyers do

not have your furniture or possessions

to distract their eye when viewing it.

Instead they're going to be able to

notice every single little ding in the

baseboards. They're going to notice where

the carpets are worn in several places

versus the other places where the

furniture was placed. So to net the most

money on closing day sell your house

occupied. That's it for this episode of

real estate talk. I'd love to connect

What is PHI (Protected Health Information)? | HIPAA Training - Duration: 4:21.

DOCTOR WILSON: Thanks, ladies, for coming and speaking with me today, I appreciate that.

We do have a couple of things that we do need to discuss.

Um.

I received a call from a patient stating that they overheard you talking about another patient's

health information.

MARY: I am so sorry.

I didn't think we could be heard.

Sorry.

DOCTOR WILSON: And that's understandable.

Through the course of our day, we're trying to get things done, and we're trying to

relay information.

We just need to make sure that we follow our policies and procedures, and that we have

those conversations in a private place so that other patients cannot hear us.

Another thing that I wanted to mention is, Mary, I received an SMS text from you regarding

the patient that you were going to reach out to, and her diagnosis, and it was great to

receive that to be notified that you were reaching out to that patient.

But it should have been through our secure texting app because it still is considered

patient privacy.

MARY: Yeah, I mistakenly sent it SMS because I was in a rush, so I didn't use the secure

app.

DOCTOR WILSON: And hopefully there wasn't any harm done this time at all.

But it is something that I'm going to have to speak to our privacy officer about.

I know some days it's just going to be very hard to take out a moment to walk into another

room where patients can't hear you.

But we need to make sure that we start practicing those steps to make sure that we're keeping

our patients' information safe.

PRIVACY OFFICER JENNY: Hi Doctor Wilson!

DOCTOR WILSON: Hey Jenny!

PRIVACY OFFICER JENNY: Have a seat!

DOCTOR WILSON: Thank you!

I wanted to talk to you, because we've had a couple of incidents and I wanted to make

sure that our policies and procedures were in place and we've had our updated HIPAA

training.

PRIVACY OFFICER JENNY: Oh, of course.

Let me look for the book of evidence, which has our policies and procedures, to make sure

that we are HIPAA compliant.

DOCTOR WILSON: Thank you, I appreciate that.

Can you let me know as soon as you find that out?

PRIVACY OFFICER JENNY: I sure can!

DOCTOR WILSON: Thank you.

ROB: In this scene, the office manager and nurse violated HIPAA compliance laws by speaking

about another patient's health diagnosis in front of other patients.

They also sent an unsecured text to the doctor.

Now let's talk about what PHI is, and how to handle it properly.

Any information that is individual to your patient, past, present or future, about the

care provided, the physical health and mental health of an individual is PHI.

This includes documentation of doctor's visits, charts, and notes made by physicians or other

provider staff.

It also includes health care payments, claim status and coordination of health care benefits.

HIPAA covers all forms of PHI including electronic, paper or oral formats.

Some people forget that PHI is covered under spoken word.

Be mindful when disclosing healthcare information with patients and business associates.

Think of PHI as classified information.

You have the clearance to see it, and your responsibility is to keep it from falling

into the wrong hands at all times.

Can PHI be Disclosed for Public Health Activities?

Yes.

But it's limited to the CDC, public health authorities at a state or federal level and

OSHA.

OSHA can request information without authorization or the need of a Business Associate Agreement.

Covered entities must reasonably limit PHI to the minimum amount necessary.

Only give what you need to provide and nothing more.

Remember less is more when it comes to personal health information.

Here are some examples of when the government or OSHA can request PHI.

In the event of a natural disaster or state of emergency the Federal Government or OSHA

can request PHI to determine demographics of the affected area.

Why is this?

The reason why is so they can mobilize the national guard, first responders, or military

personnel to assist in the affected area.

If you are contacted by someone from the government, ensure they are legitimate employees.

Request a phone number and email address and ask them for a written request.

Brighter Image Lab Review! Her smile is AMAZING! MUST SEE RESULTS! - Duration: 17:58.

hey everyone so today's video is going to be an update on my press-on veneers

and let's take these off there's a glare okay so I am still talking a little bit funny

because right after my last video I sent my bottoms back in to have some

adjustments done to them and I actually just got my bottoms back today so I'm

trying to get used to everything and let me just say that whenever I first put

the bottom arch in because those are the ones that I had work done to I freaked

out and I was like they would not stay in my mouth at all like I could do this

and they would just like rattle then let's see it was like at probably nine

o'clock in the morning okay so I went back like three different times trying

to put them in my mouth and they just would not stay and so like around

one o'clock I went back in there and I was finally going to put they send you

these they're like adhesive dots and it's like to make them a fit better to

your teeth or whatever and I really didn't want to have to use them I just

wanted to be able to pop them in my mouth and they fit you know and so I was

like okay well let me put them in my mouth one more time and I'm going to see

like you know put them in there and kind of move them around see where I think I

need to put the dots and whenever I put them in they fit

I was like what the heck and so the only thing that I can really think of is that

whenever I originally took my impressions I took them at night and they

say that your teeth swell throughout the day and so I guess maybe my veneers fit

better like later on in the day then first thing in the morning because I

mean my other ones never did that but in all honesty

I probably never tried them on super early in the morning because I sleep

late I'm not a morning person and like whenever I get up I drink coffee and I

lay in the bed and watch YouTube videos and comment on everybody's stuff and

answer people's comments so I usually don't really get moving until about 11

or 12 o'clock but I never ever noticed my other bottom arch doing

that and so I emailed the company and I was like these are way too big blah blah blah

I mean I wasn't rude about it but I was freaking out because I mean I was

excited to get them back you know and and then they didn't fit and I was just

like crushed you know so anyways a few hours later they email me back

and they were like you know we'll send you another kit you'll have to redo your

impressions that's the only thing I can think of and I was like well let's hold

off on it because they're fitting now and I was like let's just wait a few

days and see what happens so I'll have to do another update video after

this I mean or I'll just like tell you in a regular video that I ended up

keeping them my feet are going to sleep but anyways I know I say anyways and like a

lot okay for any of you trolls that want to like comment about it in the comment

section so yeah some things that I want to tell you about the press in veneers

are that you know I get asked a lot if you can eat with them and the company

says that you can eat with them but the thing is that you're not supposed to eat

hard foods with them and if you do eat with them then you're supposed to rinse

them out right after you get through eating because food

can you know get my behind them and if you don't rinse them out and then that craps

just going to be sitting on your teeth and as far as drinking goes they say

that you can drink with them I'm not I can't remember if they say that you're

supposed to like rinse your mouth out after you get through drinking but I

suggest that you do if you're drinking anything besides like water because and

this is just in my theory in my opinion whatever you want to call it so if

you're drinking something like acidic or something colored it's going to get

behind the veneers because like spit gets behind them and like I

don't know if you can hear that but anyways that's like the sound of me sucking

the spit out from behind them so yeah if you're drinking anything

with like color to it or like you know with like lemon juice or anything like

that that would cause like discoloration or erosion to your teeth

I would suggest after you get through drinking that to rinse them out or not

drink anything other than water I don't drink anything other than water whenever

I have mine in because I don't want to cause damage to my teeth and I don't

feel like taking them out that much to rinse them and things like that so

that's I mean because your teeth like I said are going to be sitting in that and

that's not good for your teeth I don't think it is anyways but that's just me

saying that the adjustments that they made come on was like there was a spot

that was like kicked out right here and whenever I talk to my mouth would get

hung up on it I don't think this is the same arch I think that they made it

completely new because like this side right here is different like this

side right here it used to cup down like this on my

teeth and now it's not like that anymore and and this is another thing that they

did see like remember how like on my last ones this right here came down like ew I

got spit on me anyways this whole thing came down like halfway behind the teeth

and whenever I would talk my tongue we get caught up on it a lot and so what

and plus I have like a crooked tooth right there and it was really thick right

there because of that crooked tooth and so they cut some of that out so it would

make it easier for me to talk and they also brought this stuff like down

further down behind my teeth so I think that the only things that got changed

about it that I can tell yeah it's staying in there now it's so weird like how

freakishly loose it was this morning and now it's fitting perfectly fine so

another question that I get asked a lot is how long did it take from the time

that I ordered the veneers for me to get them okay so the day that I ordered the

veneers it took about I think it took about

three or four days to get the kit to do the impressions and I sent my

impressions in the very next day and

from that day it took roughly about a month I think to get my veneers in so

yeah another thing that I wanted to talk about in this video is like the ad for

the press-on veneers is always showing up on my Facebook and I usually try to

like answer people's questions and that even though I'm not like obligated to

because I am not in any way paid by that company I know that people keep saying

oh you seem like you're not paid by the company and I'm not I don't know any

other way to put it but like no I'm not paid by them I just am speaking from my

own experience I guess and like whenever I answer questions like on their posts on

Facebook and stuff like that it's like I don't like some of the questions on

there are crazy to me because like Brighter Image Lab they shared this

their link and it's like a picture of this mouth and it has like duct tape

over it and saying something like you don't like your smile or something like

that I've got like little press-on veneers sitting to the side everybody

comments on it and they're like how much do these cost I need a phone number can

somebody please answer me like what are some other questions like how do I find

out more information on this that thing that you're commenting on is literally a

link and all you have to do is click the picture and it'll take you straight to

their website or you could just google Brighter Image Lab and it will take you

and you can go to their website like that I don't I mean I don't mean to pick

on people but like how do you use Facebook and not know that but I

don't know there are people out there so but like even though people are asking

crazy questions like that I still like try to be nice and answer

them and whatever but and like somebody said something on there the other day

about so you're just going to put these like over rotten teeth and just let your

teeth continue to rot my teeth I've shown y'all what my teeth look like

without these in and mine are not rotten I just I did not want to get braces so I

got these I want to throw in here that and this is another thing that is just

in my opinion and like something that I have like seen you know my

observation whatever if you already have like big teeth or if you have like buck

teeth or I'm not trying to be rude by saying that but like if your teeth are

already kind of like I don't know just like big or overcrowded or I don't know

just anything like that and you order the press-on veneers and then you want

to be one of these people that are like oh my god these things made me look like

I had horse teeth blah blah blah if you look on their website it shows you in

fact let me just bring it up okay so I'm about to show you like this is on their

website so this shows that it's going to be a little bit bigger than your regular

tooth it's going to be a little bit thicker and all of that so with that being

said if you already have like rather large teeth or anything like that it's

going to make them look a little bit bigger so you need to keep that in mind

if you're thinking about getting them because I have like a strong feeling

that like the people that are saying that it made them look like they had

horse teeth that they had you know they probably had like big teeth or like

overcrowded teeth or anything like that already so you know just think about it

how much do they cost go to their website

scroll down and it's right there

another question is everybody's like well how do you know if you're going to

get a good impression if you don't go to the dentist they actually have on their

page they have this right here it's a video and you click it and they show you

how to take a proper impression I also have like tips from whenever I did my

impression that you can watch that as well so one more thing that I want to

touch on before I end this video is like I had seen where one girl had got

the press-on veneers and she got them strictly to take like pretty pictures

for Instagram I suggest that if you are going to do that that you go with like

a cheaper option especially if you're just wanting them for pictures because I don't know

it seems a bit overkill to me but you do you you know whatever I'm just trying to

help you out like to save money or whatever so like a cheaper option would

be to get like the pageant flippers and I found this company and they're really

nice people I talked to them quite a bit one day like asking about their product

and things like that they suggest that you don't eat or drink with them that

they're strictly for like you know taking pictures pageant wise you know

like trying to look pretty or whatever in a picture I think that they also do

like if you're like trying to get some like weird teeth made for like a

costume or whatever I think that they also do stuff like that too they do not

do bottom arches for adults because of like the whole lisp problem

and so the name of the company is unity smiles I actually have brought it up

let's see so the pricing is like it's $25 for an adult

impression kit and it's a hundred and ninety five dollars for an adult pageant

flipper like so that means for the top arch so twenty-five dollars for the

impression kit and one hundred ninety five dollars for the arch it says that

they should not be used to cover decayed or broken down teeth to wear all day

while eating or drinking so you don't use it for any of that stuff is what

they say that's what they claim so yeah so if you wanted to just get that to

take like pretty pictures then you know that would be like a different route to

go just like go to their website and check it out and you know that might be

a cheaper option for you if that's what you're looking for

alright then I think I have answered everything today but if there's anything

I left out just feel free to ask me in the comment section I try to always

answer back on Instagram I answer back pretty quickly as well I will be making

another video soon just like to let you know if I ended up

keeping these bottoms or whatever so yeah I guess that's it I got to go to put my

hair up it's driving me crazy today so I'll show you another close-up of my

teeth before we go

all right and if my lighting seems a bit off it's because one of my lighting one of

my lights messed up so I only have two today so I will talk to you guys later

bye

Why Water On Other Planets is Important - Duration: 5:26.

Scientists are thirstier than

a Tinder user on February 13th

when it comes to discovering water on other planets.

Don't believe me?

Most recently NASA suggested that

there's likely frozen water on Jupiters

atmosphere - right above the

Great Red Spot -

and scientists

and publications alike cannot

stop gushing about it.

This could mean liquid water below the

red spot, and a lot more

than we've got on Earth.

It's an important discovery.

Water is essential to life.

But, why exactly does it

actually matter if other planets host

water? Water is one of,

if not the best solvent.

It can literally dissolve more

compounds than any other molecule

on Earth, making it like

the swiss army knife of solubility.

Why is that important?

Well, if you remember back to your high school

chemistry class,

you might remember learning that the ability

to dissolve one substance using

another substance is hugely important.

That's because it causes chemical reactions

and chemical reactions literally

run the world.

In their simplest form,

chemical reactions break down molecules

and rearrange them to form something

new.

They allow plants to create energy,

food, and oxygen.

They're necessary to start fires,

and they help you break down all the french

fries you just had for lunch.

And on an alien planet where you don't

know what problems you're going to encounter,

you want to find water,

because it's way more handy to have

a Swiss Army knife than it is to have

a precision Phillips head screwdriver

if you want to tackle a multitude of problems.

You can just do more

with water than you can

with a lot of other molecules.

This may not seem like a big deal,

but the fact that water remains liquid from

zero degrees Celsius all the way up to

100 degrees Celsius is

imperative to its solubility,

which in turn is crucial to

causing chemical reactions.

You can't dissolve something in ice.

So the fact that water isn't extremely

sensitive to temperature changes is stellar.

If water was only liquid between 20

degrees Celsius

and 40 degrees Celsius,

weather patterns we need to be extremely

precise for molecules to get dissolved.

This would be problematic as temperatures on habitable

planets fluctuate relatively frequently

and drastically.

Besides its ability to stay liquid

longer than most other molecules,

water also retains its temperature for

a long time.

You've experienced this when you went to the beach

and it was still cold for the first half

of the summer, but then still warm

well into the fall.

This is a huge deal on Earth because

it helps regulate

and maintain a temperature where life can

survive.

As the weather gets cold, the ocean releases

the heat it retained from the summer to

keep temperatures from dropping rapidly,

and the reverse happens when it gets warmer.

Water is one of the few molecules

where it's frozen form is less dense

than its liquid form,

causing it to float inside itself.

Why is that important on a planetary level?

Well when a thin layer of water

freezes on top of a liquid body

of water ,it essentially creates a

seal. And underneath that

seal,

lifeforms, if they exist,

can be protected from any potentially

harmful conditions above sea level.

On Earth, this has created a habitable

climate for many species of fish,

dating all the way back to our fishy ancestors.

Following that logical step later,

theoretically,

it could potentially create a habitable

space for life in other places,

like Europa

or Titan: the moons that orbit

Jupiter.

According to NASA,

"water isn't only a convenience,

it's a necessity.

And humans aren't alone in this.

Liquid water is a necessity for every

form of life known.

With the possible exception of some

plants or Fungai may get off by

water vapor." The human body

is roughly 60 percent water,

and the average person needs two to three

liters every day to stay alive.

Plants are roughly 90 to 95

percent water.

They use it to literally build the structures that

hold them up.

All the chemical reactions necessary to life

- plants making oxygen,

your ability to breakdown foods

and even think,

they all begin

with water.

Finding water on alien planets

is basically like finding a big

neon sign that reads "Hey scientists

there may be life here.

It's not definitive

but there's definitely potential."

And even if there's no life on other planets

and we're the only ones out there,

finding water on another planet is a good

indicator that we might be able to get

humans to survive there.

If we can harness the water to drink

or to use for farming,

then we'll probably have the capacity to

get by OK.

Water is a simple abundant molecule,

but it allows for a lot of complexity.

Life is very complex,

but seemingly not abundant in the universe.

So the simple answer?

Search for water,

and you may find something much more interesting

hiding just below the surface.

Is Jake Paul A Sociopath? - Duration: 6:44.

Jake paul is one of the most well-known youtube personalities on this platform.

He is incredibly influential, he has 17 million subscribers.

He is also one of the most polarizing out of all youtubers.

You either love him or you hate him, which is one of the reasons why Shane Dawson decided

to make a docuseries on him, which attempts to unearth a side to jake paul that the public

doesn't necessarily know.

In episode two of the docuseries, shane explores the possibility of Jake Paul being a sociopath.

Sociopaths are another term for someone with antisocial personality disorder.

According to psychologists, Someone with antisocial personality disorder is not empathic, as in

they can't understand the feelings of others.

Sociopaths are manipulative, where they play mind games to control the people close to

them, or even complete strangers.

They have no regard for the rules, and often push the limits of what's acceptable.

Sounds a lot like someone we know.

So, could it be possible that jake paul, a youtuber with 17 million loyal subscribers,

could fit into that category?

Today, what if life's biggest questions asks, is Jake Paul a sociopath?

Hello and welcome back to life's biggest questions.

I'm charlotte dobre.

This is where I ask you to like and subscribe and ask us a question in the comments below.

As you might already know from Shane Dawson's documentary, sociopaths are actually quite

common.

1 in 25 people are sociopaths.

That means someone you know is a sociopath, or, plot twist, maybe the sociopath is you.

Its important to note that sociopaths are extremely likeable people.

They are charismatic, charming and agreeable, which is why it's really hard to tell if

someone you know is a sociopath.

The sociopath in your social circle might turn out to be the person you least expect.

So, let's do our own diagnosis of jake paul using these 7 points.

Those with antisocialpersonality disorder can only receive a diagnosis if they are over

18, and they show a consistent pattern of these behaviors.

Number one, a sociopath doesn't respect social norms or laws.

They often break the rules that society has laid out with little regard for what might

happen to them.

Jake paul has documented some questionable behaviour on his channel.

In 2017, his neighbors in Beverly grove were meeting with city council members and police

on the possibility of filing a class action law suit against him for being a public nuisance.

This came after repeated issues with jake's fans gathering outside his house, noise complaints

and setting furniture on fire.

Jake also once secretly recorded a conversation on the doorstep of a neighbour he upset, but

in California, its only private conversations that are not allowed to be recorded.

But the neighbour didn't press charges.

At this time, Jake Paul does not have a criminal record.

That could change in the future, but other than being a bad neighbour and a public nuisance,

Jake doesn't necessarily break the law to the degree where he could be considered a

sociopath.

And the LAPD, after responding to complaints about him, said that Jake paul hadn't been

cited because he hadn't broken any laws.

Moving on to Number two.

Sociopaths lie, constantly deceive others, may even act under false identities and they

often use others for their own personal gain.

We do know that jake paul has been known to lie, and publicly too.

For example, Back in august of 2017, He lost 60 thousand followers after he accused faze

banks of assaulting his assistant Megan.

Faze banks said he would sue jake and team 10 for defamation of character and slander,

so it seems like jake paul lied about this assault to start youtube drama.

So yes, jake paul lies, but then again, a lot of people lie.

A lot of youtubers lie for the purpose of creating controversy.

Just because you lie, that doesn't mean you are a sociopath, otherwise, we would all

be sociopaths.

Moving on to Number 3, Sociopaths don't plan ahead.

They behave without thinking and are often spontaneous.

Jake paul definitely appears to be spontaneous.

He is constantly behaving in ways that people don't expect because it attracts a lot of

attention, and its one of the reason why his subscribers find his vlogs so entertaining.

That being said, jake likely does plan out a lot of what he says and does.

Its pretty hard to be a YouTuber and not be very calculated about what you choose to put

on the internet.

Number 4.

A sociopath doesn't consider their own safety, or the safety of others.

Jake paul often terrorizes the people who live in the team 10 house.

Pranks and stunts are a regular part of living with jake paul.

A sociopath might also be someone who's cruel to other people and animals.

WE know that jake paul has been unneccesarily mean to many of the people who have left team

ten.

Allisa violet claims he assaulted her numerous times, and he bullied and terrorized the Martinez

twins, sometimes making racist remarks about their Spanish heritage.

The pranks he chooses to pull on his house mates are borderline cruel, but most of the

time they end in laughter.

As far as we know though, jake paul is not cruel to his animals.

Logan paul on the other hand…show video of him tazing dead rats.

Number 6.

Sociopaths don't care about their personal responsibilities.

Someone who doesn't learn from their mistakes.

An example of this is someone who doesn't pay their bills on time or someone who is

late for everything important.

Jake paul makes millions of dollars.

As far as we know, jake paul does pay his bills on time even though rent for the house

in Beverly Grove was more than 17 thousand dollars a month.

According to reports, jake paul was being sued by his former landlord, but for damage,

not over a rent dispute.

And since he moved into a new 7 million dollar mansion in Calabasas, jake paul hasn't been

getting into much trouble with his neighbours.

And lastly, Number 7, a sociopath feels no guilt or remorse for the harm they have caused

other people.

When jake paul messes up and causes controversy, he does apologise.

Whether or not those apologies are genuine remains to be seen.

Sociopaths mimic acceptable behaviour, so he could be apologising because that's what

he thinks is the acceptable thing to do, not because he actually cares.

But then, would a sociopath care about what other people think in the first place?

Again, probably not.

Murderers and other criminals are often sociopaths.

They display violent behaviour, and don't feel remorse or guilt.

Jake paul might be annoying and kind of a jerk, but I don't think that we can put

him in the same category as a major criminal.

Jake paul has insisted that he isn't a sociopath in a video he uploaded to his channel called,

please watch this before watching shane dawsons series.

In this video, jake paul expressed that he didn't want to do the docuseries at first

because he didn't want shane dawson to get flack for it.

A sociopath wouldn't care about that, a sociopath would welcome the idea of a docuseries.

Its important to note that jake paul is not a well liked person.

Much of the youtube community dislikes him, much of the media also dislikes him.

Canada's national post called him 'a moronic menace to society'.

Mashable once called him 'an absolute terror.

And the publication deadspin said he was the worst person on earth.

Even though his behaviour can appear charming to some, he's not what most would call a

'likeable' person.

That's one of the reasons why shane dawson chose to make a docuseries on him in the first

place.

Jake paul is a controversial internet personality for a reason.

And furthermore, we don't know what jake paul is actually like.

The persona that he chooses to put forth on the internet isn't necessarily what he's

like in real life.

Even though he might display certain personality traits and behaviours that could appear sociopathic,

he could be very different in real life.

Well, there you have it, did you agree with us?
