Waching daily Oct 29 2018

My name is Lightness Bayo

I'm living in Tanzania, located in Lake Eyasi area

I dreamed that one day when I grow up

I will do something to empower women,

young girls, who will become a mother in the future.

To have the skills

or to go for further education.

In 2009 we open the vocational school called

Lake Eyasi Girls Vocational Training Center

where the girls who have a challenge in their life

to continue with their formal school

they can come and have a second chance

Because in Tanzania

when girls are pregnant

they're not allowed to go back to [public] school again

so I took the responsibility of finding to get this land

we have the success of

sending girls to the nursing college, and they're here now they're working

we have girls who are finishing secondary school

we have girls who have a skill of sewing

so they have their own business around the community

and, they're selling they are able now to care for their children

so when they finish the school also we give them the support of having their own sewing machine

The girls who come to study in this school

they are girls who are finishing primary school

and are 13 years(old) 14 years(old)

and some of them are in secondary school and are 18 years old

we teach them here

we advise them we give counseling

so they understand their right

they are so excited to learn something

which they can do for their hands to support their life

In the future

we need to have a daycare center for two purposes

first for the girls who are dropped from the school

and those who are already married who want to come and having skills here

they can come with their children and have a place to stay when they are in class hours

and also for the mamas who are a single parent

so they can bring their children to be safe in the place

and they can go and find a job for the day

and here because we have a health center

he or she can be sick anytime

we can take them to the clinic to see the doctors

and to help them on time

at the evening when the mothers come to pickup their children

where they are safe, and clean, and they're happy

we thank you Journeys of Solutions to bring nurses and doctors and equipment

which you have been collecting from people around your country America

to support our hospital because

this facility (Lake Eyasi Medical Center) is very new we have a lot of needing

and if we get the different organizations to join us

we can have enough budget to make this service sustain

we are doing also projects of building the women houses

One day I visited the village to their homes

and their family house was not good at all

some of the women their house was broken as mud old house

since her husband die or since her been abandoned by their husband

so we started building a new modern house

which the mother can live and stay in strong house with windows and doors

so we build a house where we separate the animals

and the mother to be inside and safe

we have six families in the new modern house

It's so blessing to save the mother from animal from bad people in the village

and to make them feel they have people

who love them and care and share what they have with them

We still have like 100 women needed of support of that

so we still welcome other people to join us

to continue with this mission from one woman to another

I really welcome other people around the world

to come and join and shake my hands

to push this dream together

to reach for where I dream to

We welcome people who want to support us

to join the Journeys of Solutions

we really need people to donate the money

I understand if you educate the girls you educate the world

This Is Why You Don't See Many Quiznos Around Anymore - Duration: 4:49.

It wasn't long ago that Quiznos was a pretty big deal.

But it turns out those tasty toasted rolls weren't enough to keep them on the top of

the food chain when it comes to fast food sub shops.

They've closed more than 90 percent of their stores in the last decade, and here's why.

No chain survives without the support of their franchisees, but Quiznos corporate has made

it incredibly difficult for stores to turn a profit problems that start with their supply

chain.

Most fast food franchises negotiate with vendors who then supply locations directly and at

a reduced cost, since they're buying in bulk.

But Quiznos corporate buys all supplies from vendors, then turns around and sells them

to franchisees.

While most restaurants ideally operate with a food cost of 30 percent, Quiznos forces

their franchisees to start with a cost of up to 39 percent.

That means a Quiznos location needs to sell a lot more than a comparable Subway before

they even break even.

That backwards business plan has ended up breaking the franchise owners they should

have been helping, and it's cost them.

In 2006, around 10,000 franchise owners took corporate to court with a class action lawsuit.

According to Forbes, they claimed corporate was essentially making them what's termed

"captive customers" and forced them to buy supplies at grossly inflated prices that made

it nearly impossible for them to be successful.

Quiznos argued they were simply passing market costs on down the line, but they were forced

to settle the lawsuit and pay out a whopping $206 million to their franchisees.

And that was just the start.

Other franchisees sued separately, and at the same time Quiznos is fighting on that

front, 6,900 franchisees in Colorado, Illinois, and Wisconsin filed a similar suit.

They won $95 million, with a huge chunk of that going to franchisees who paid their fees

but were never allowed to even open a restaurant, because of ongoing location disputes.

The entire point of an advertising campaign is to get people to buy a product, not make

them undeniably uncomfortable.

Quiznos missed that day in advertising school, and Business Insider called the creepy spongmonkeys

from Quiznos one of The 10 Worst Ad Campaigns Of All Time.

"The Quiznos subs.

We'd eat them raw but eating raw subs is barbaric."

Customers agreed.

The spongmonkeys were all over Quiznos advertising from February 2004 until August of the same

year, and if it feels like you were tortured by them for a lot longer than that, well,

that just shows how much damage they did.

They were so maligned that some stores took to posting signage apologizing for them, and

in the first week, Quiznos' Denver headquarters got around 30,000 phone calls from people

wondering what the heck was going on.

"I thought we were all good people here."

That's not the only time Quiznos missed big time with a marketing campaign, and ended

up pushing customers away.

In 2009, their uncomfortable attempt at making a sexually aggressive toaster oven hilarious

once again fell short, and did more harm than good.

"Scott…I want you to do something."

"Not doing that again.

I got burned."

"We both enjoyed that"

In 2009, Quiznos tried to get some serious goodwill with coupons for free sandwiches,

but it wasn't long before customers were getting denied their subs.

Some locations didn't honor the coupons at all, others only accepted them if customers

bought something else, and needless to say, people were not happy.

Consumerist found that franchisees had a very good reason for not accepting the coupons:

they weren't being compensated by corporate, and instead were expected to eat the cost

of the "free" subs.

A few days after the promotion started, an internal memo suggested corporate was going

to start helping with the costs of the promotion, and at the time, they said they'd already

had nearly 200,000 coupons printed.

That's a ton of subs that could cripple already struggling franchises, and while Quiznos promised

to make it right, that's not the kind of slap in the face that people forget.

The very heart of Quiznos' problems has been the relationship between corporate offices

and their franchisees.

The two sides formed into very distinct groups that drove lawsuits forward thanks to the

work of franchise owner Bhupinder Baber, whose tragic story led to chain-wide recognition

of owners' problems.

Baber owned two locations in Long Beach, California, and when Quiznos allowed another franchisee

to open nearby, his sales plummeted.

Getting no response from the corporate offices who had promised him no one would be opening

nearby, he organized other struggling franchisees into the Quiznos Franchisee Association.

That was in 2004, and according to the Long Beach Post, that was when Quiznos ended Baber's

franchisee agreement.

By 2005, Baber was slated to go to the Denver headquarters to argue his claims.

Fearing the trip was going to cost him too much and he would lose what little he had , he walked into a Quiznos bathroom and killed himself.

He left behind a note calling for an investigation into Quiznos and their business practices,

and that note was released to the public.

The Post says the nightmarish tangle of lawsuits Quiznos and their franchisees were embroiled

in for years has roots in Baber's franchisee organization, and that's the sort of thing

no one can ignore.

If you or anyone you know is having suicidal thoughts, please call the National Suicide

Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

Antwerp is largest petrochemical cluster in Europe - Duration: 2:04.

Antwerp is the largest integrated

petrochemical cluster in Europe and it's

really located in the ARA cluster,

the Antwerp-Rotterdam-Rhine-Ruhr cluster.

We are really chemical-based and

just noting few numbers: one third of our

production capacity are chemicals, so not

just energy carriers like gasoline or

petroleum bulk pocket products but

really chemical products which make the

difference in our day-to-day life.

For instance, products that are used in your

mobile phone. A quarter of all chemical

storage is also located in Antwerp.

So we are a chemical hotspot let's say.

We are really integrated. So not only

our companies are just located one after the other,

they're really working together

with all kind of other companies:

logistical service providers,

utility service providers.That help

them focus on their core business:

the production and all the

other activities can be done as environmentally and

cost-efficiently as possible.

The Port of Antwerp is very important of course

for the employment here in our region.

More than 150,000 jobs are

really linked to the port and the port area

and a substantial amount of course

is also the petrochemical industry.

It's really a corner for that deployment

and if you see the numbers of last years

even it's a growing sector

because more than thousands new jobs

were created last year.

The Handyman Is Changing / WLOG - Duration: 15:06.

Good morning friends as you can probably guess I am doing a gate job today, so I'm pretty excited about that

Switched a few things up from the way that I normally do gate

Gate builds. I took some took some thoughts from you guys here on YouTube and changed a few things up

I'm going to show you guys a little bit more about that

Going with the materials I use in the way I do it

I'll show you guys a little bit more about that once we get to the job site

But yeah, it's gonna be a great morning. It's nice and cool this morning

Hopefully we could get this done before it gets too hot today. So

Yeah, heading over to the job site. Let's get it going. All right, here's the

gates that we're rebuilding here

As you see this one's not even hooked up anymore

We might need to put a new 2x4 there and this one needs to be rebuilt

Alright it looks like our stance here is about a hundred and thirteen inches

So we're gonna make each one about fifty five and a half fifty six inches wide

We're trying to locate an outlet to plug the stuff in

in this garage, so

That's our current mission

Check out this car in this garage pretty sick car

All right, we had a little bit of an issue finding some finding some power

It's funny all the all the outlets here are two prong and all the extension cords

I have are three prongs. So we had to search a little bit before we found a three prong, but we finally got it

So we're in business

so one of the main things that I'm changing for this

Gate build that I haven't done in the past is I'm switching to pressure treated wood

A lot of you guys in the will ogz in the past have commented that the pressure treated would be best for gate

Work and fence work. So that is what I'm switching to so we'll see how it goes

Another thing that I'm switching up to from the comments in the late last word logs was I switch into these deck mates

You know, these are the three inch long but these are corrosive resistance. The other ones I was using were those were those zinc yellow

You know yellow colored

Screws that were not corrosive resistant and they're actually not even good for pressure-treated wood

So now that I went to pressure-treated wood. I definitely need to get these things

but these are the ones I'm using for exterior use from now on I

appreciate everyone giving me giving me their input as

Yeah, there's always something new to learn. So that's what's good about this. So switching these guys, so I'm gonna get this all screwed up

All right, I got the gate frames all done let's see what they look like so that's the main gate frames

So now I'm going to I'm gonna head to lunch I'm having lunch with my marketing professional

So we are gonna meet up have a great talk and then I'm gonna come back here and put some pickets on this fence

All right. I am heading back home

For lunch and then to meet with my marketing professional. Like I said, I just got an email

I've been emailing back and forth of the guy at the CSLB. He is a

licensing

Like he's the licensing guy. So he's the guy that answers all the questions for licensing or whatnot

he just emailed me back and he's he is saying that a

Project is defined as anything done at the home

and

In California regarding the $500 limit is what I'm talking about. So he's saying that that even if you do a ceiling fan

Replace the gate and do a kitchen faucet all three separate projects

You still cannot do that because the whole thing is considered one project. I

personally disagree with him

I'm gonna do a whole lot more research on this because

because the

The state law book does not define. What a project is. So

So by him saying that a definitive answer is that is a project as the whole house

Then he is basically just speculating

So we're going to need to do a lot more research on this

I'm proximately need to go down and talk with them in person because I want to I want to find out for myself I want

To make sure I am not breaking the law

Because I just don't I I know that California is super super regulated super crazy

I mean, I don't agree with it, but I do not see how a state can

Can impose such restrictive laws on their people where they can't even make any money?

like for instance, I understand that a project is a

you know bathroom remodel and in the people the California State License Board, they are going after people that are you know,

say repaving driveways or

Or remodeling bathrooms or remodeling kitchens or even you know adding on to houses or remodeling houses in I understand that that is to protect

The customer because they do not have a contractor's license

Bonding insurance everything that goes along with that. I totally understand that but honey do list items

Come on guys

like if you can't install a ceiling fan and a kitchen faucet

Then what the heck is the point of anything like because that leaves the customer in a bind like even on us?

Right it it doesn't even setting aside our own pocketbook that leaves a customer in a bind because if the customer can't get a contractor

To come out and do their honey-do list items

Who are they gonna have to do it if it's illegal for a handyman to do that then what is the customer to do?

It's ridiculous. So that is why I disagree with that guy at the CSLB

I have heard otherwise from people at CSLB so I'm gonna have to do a lot more research on this

I've just been emailing back and forth and I know he's probably getting pissed off at me because I'm

Keep coming back with more questions

but

I'm probably she can have to give him a call and possibly go talk to him in person because I mean it doesn't make any

Sense at all. I mean they are they are

wanting to get unlicensed contractors off the street, but

Handyman that are doing it like legitly with the license and insurance. Like I just don't get it. So anyways that sorry end of rant

We're gonna go to lunch right now

So we are yeah, we're gonna go to lunch meet with my my marketing guy and then get back and install some pickets man

What an amazing meeting that was that was super awesome. I loved meeting with that guy. Just met with my marketing professional man

I'm pumped about this marketing thing man. We're gonna blow this thing out of the water. I'm super excited about it

So I am gonna be starting a new blog

Pretty exciting actually by the time you watch this video because I'm about a week ahead on on videos

I will probably already have started the blog so go over to

WWE handyman journey calm and I got a blog section there. Check it out. Leave me some love there. I would greatly appreciate it

But man, I'm excited about it

We got a whole lot of things going with Facebook advertising and it's gonna be huge. It's gonna be awesome, man

So anyways, heading back to that job gonna get some pickets on that gate and then yeah get it going

Okay all done with these I had to take off

These few pickets here just because I usually put this put a screw in here to kind of hold this shut

That's the only way I kind of thought about holding

it shut probably because I didn't want to put the latch on because in case they sag then you got a

You know reset the latch and all that, but just had to take off the four pickets

But I got to move those up a smidge anyway, so no big deal

Alright, here's my gate all done

All right, thank you turned out pretty well

Now, I just got to get all cleaned up one quick thing about these these deck mate screws that I said

I was gonna try out. I had three of these strip out on me today just the head stripped out

I mean I had him in there clean straight. They just stripped right out

On my other brand the the grip right brand the ones that are zinc yellow

They have never never stripped out on me. And as you could see they're a little bit more sharper and

Even a little bit more deeper. So that's just one thing. I've noticed, you know from the get-go on these these new

deck mate screws

I don't necessarily like them but this is my gate from the inside here and all its glory and

So we're gonna get cleaned up here and get out of here

They want me to take a look at another gate that they want rebuilt and it's this one

this post is completely shot and

Oh, nothing just fell off and this post here is also shot as well

so what I'm thinking what I'm probably recommend is in setting just a

about a foot back or so put a new post over there and

Then a new post over there and then building a new picket fence instead of this one

But we'll see what they have to say about that. That's my reckon. All right, we are all done for the day

Good. Good job. Good job

So I was here for a total of about four and a half

hours

Because I took I took quite a long extended lunch for that for that meeting

but right now I am

Heading out to Home Depot got to make some returns

And then I also got to go back to the job that I worked at last night

Which was the last vlog that I did that?

Mm-hmm, then I did that pocket door for because I did I left some tools there in the backyard

So I got to stop by and pick that up but no big deal. It is a it's a rental and it's currently unoccupied

So Noah's living there, so that's where I'm heading right now

So thank you all so much for listening to my rant earlier here today

And if you guys have any input on that matter, I would love to hear it

You know regarding laws and regulations and things like that

Anyways, thank you all so much for watching the wood log

And I hope you all have a fantastic day and I will see you on the next vlog you guys. Have a great one

ASK UNMC! What is the best way to protect my joints as I age? - Duration: 0:56.

As we age it is really important to do several things and mainly exercise and

various forms of exercise to maintain the joints. Knee arthritis is a huge

cause of disability and the primary therapy for that is strengthening the

muscles above and below the knee but also stretching and flexibility at the

ankle, knee and hip and that way joints are less likely to be damaged when

ASK UNMC! What exactly is a meniscus tear and does it always require surgery? - Duration: 0:59.

So the meniscus is a small but fairly important structure inside the knee

they're these two little disks that have to shock absorbers and help the knee

move and we see tears commonly come up in the degenerative setting which

doesn't mean you're old it just means that that tissue tends to break down

over time so we do surgeries sometimes but often times the pain and dysfunction

tends to resolve even if that tear doesn't heal. Now with younger athletic

type injuries things like ACL tears we are more aggressive about doing surgery

in that case because the importance to the health and vitality of any long-term

is really critical and we know the meniscus plays an important role here.

in the Port of Antwerp is a leading industry

in digitalization.

Actually, NxtPort is a data access tool

that was created by input of the largest

petrochemical companies in the world and

of a local shipping line and terminal.

The Port of Antwerp has joined its efforts

to make it available to

the other petrochemical companies in our cluster

and to ensure that there is good

governance in this system so that

the data remain confidential and can only

be open with proper authorization.

It's a nonprofit system and it's a bottom-up effort.

So it's open to every shipper to

HSBC chief it is hard to disengage from Saudi Arabia despite Khashoggi death Business - Duration: 3:06.

HSBC chief it is hard to disengage from Saudi Arabia despite Khashoggi death Business

Murder unlikely to have much impact on trade and foreign investment, says John Flint

Murder unlikely to have much impact on trade and foreign investment, says John Flint

The murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi is unlikely to have much impact on trade and foreign investment in Saudi Arabia, according to John Flint, the chief executive of HSBC, Europe's biggest bank.

"I understand the emotion around the story but it is very difficult to think about disengaging from Saudi Arabia, given its importance to global energy markets," Flint said.

Flint was one of several banking chief executives who pulled out of an investment conference in Riyadh last week, along with Tidjane Thiam of Credit Suisse, Bill Winters of Standard Chartered and Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan Chase. However, Samir Assaf, the head of HSBC's global banking and markets, attended the event.

Flint said: "My decision [to pull out] was not an easy decision but I felt it was the right decision under the circumstances." He defended the bank's decision to send Assaf to the conference, saying it had a responsibility to its 4,000 employees and many customers in Saudi Arabia, where HSBC is the biggest foreign bank through its 40% holding in Saudi British Bank.

Flint hinted at future investment in the Middle East, saying: "We are a significant part of the banking system in many parts of the region … We will build our businesses as the opportunities arise."

The conference was shunned by most western business leaders amid an international outcry over the Saudi regime's involvement in the dissident journalist's death – but it concluded with $50bn (£38.9bn) of deals signed. Saudi Aramco signed 15 deals worth $34bn with the French oil firm Total and the US oil services firms Halliburton, Baker Hughes and Schlumberger, as well as companies from Japan, China, India and the United Arab Emirates.

Khashoggi, a columnist for the Washington Post, vanished on 2 October after visiting the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Saudi officials have admitted he was killed by a team of agents sent from Riyadh.

Flint's comments came as the bank surprised analysts with better-than-expected third-quarter results. Pre-tax profits rose 28% to $5.9bn in the three months to September, with revenues up 6.3% to $13.8bn, while costs fell nearly 7% to $7.97bn.

Flint lauded strong profit growth, particularly in Asia and Europe, the latter because of a good performance in the UK from retail banking and wealth management.

HSBC said last week's high court ruling for Lloyds to equalise pension payments for men and women would affect many other defined-benefit plans across the UK. It will increase the liabilities of the HSBC pension scheme and reduce the plan's £6.2bn surplus. The bank is in the process of evaluating the impact with its actuaries and will record a charge in the fourth quarter.

Flint, the bank's former global head of retail banking and wealth management, succeeded Stuart Gulliver as CEO in February. Flint unveiled a plan for returning the bank to growth in June, which, like the strategy of his predecessor, focuses on expanding the business in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta in southern China.

Helal Miah, an investment research analyst at The Share Centre, said: "The new senior management team are trying to steer the bank to growth once again and their comments so far are fairly positive.

"HSBC will focus on driving further revenue growth from Asia while also expanding its wealth management and insurance business. While there was good news on cost controls this quarter, this is something HSBC have generally struggled with lately and such will remain a key strategic focus."
