Honoring John Arch for 25 Years of Leadership - Boys Town National Research Hospital - Duration: 6:54.

"We are a National Research Hospital unlike any other hospital in this community and frankly,

the region."

"We have a mission that's very bold.

We want to change the way America cares for kids, families and communities.

That's what brings me here today."

I remember very distinctly when I joined Boys Town Hospital and it was in December of 1993.

There hadn't been an administrator before and I was sitting in my office and nobody

was calling me.

Nobody came, nobody called, nothing.

What do you do with an administrator, right?

I remember thinking at the time, this is probably a part-time job.

I wasn't quite sure what this job was.

Well, that changed, quickly.

"paper ripping"

How do you describe Dr. Brookhouser?

He obviously shaped me.

I worked for him for about 18 to 19 years.

One thing that he kept driving over and over to me was patient care.

Not being a doctor, not being a clinician, that was something that and administrator

needs to understand.

This is not just about business.

This is not just about, how's your budget, how are things functioning?

It was all functioning for a purpose and it was patient care.

It has definitely changed lives.

Changing the way America cares for children and families.

That was always the goal and I think we've done some of that over 25 years.

"Do I eat cookies?"

"I eat a lot of cookies."

"Oh my gosh!"

"Do you like cookies?"

"Yeah."

During my 13 years as the Director of Boys Town, I have found John Arch to be a man of

business, a man of character, and a man of vision.

During his 25 years at Boys Town, we've grown from a budget of about 7.5 million dollars

to nearly 100 million dollars.

John has overseen the construction of over 50 million dollars in new construction at

Boys Town, including our west hospital and clinics and RTCs.

"This is a great day for the kids at Boys Town and for the community as we break ground

on this Residential Treatment Center."

Buildings are strictly tools, tools to an end.

Whether that be clinics or whether that be the surgery, the new West Hospital, the Lied

Learning & Technology Center, the new RTCs, whatever the construction project was, we

attempted to build those so that they could accomplish a purpose and the purpose being

great patient care.

"music"

John Arch is also a man of character.

This character was tested in 2011 when Dr. Brookhouser, our beloved founder died.

John was named by me the interim and then the head of Boys Town Research Hospital and

his continuity and his leadership got us through a really tough time.

John didn't miss a beat.

I think his ability to step up and maintain the confidence and trust of our patients,

our doctors and our nurses.

Maintain great relationships with Boys Town and with the community.

I think not only did he step in and step up but he took it to another level.

Sometimes I describe the experience, I caught the hospital when it fell on me because that

was that kind of an experience.

Having been here for that 18, 19 years, I understood the culture.

it wasn't like a steep learning curve but rather it was just assuming the ultimate responsibility

for the hospital.

He's been a stabilizing force.

In health care, we are going through periods of rapid and quick change where the idea of

the month is being embraced by organizations without any forethought.

John has been rational, he has been thoughtful, he has been inclusive in getting input from

all the different stakeholders and that has made the difference.

"So that integrated model of translational research was key.

We now want to do that in what we're calling Neurobehavioral research."

John Arch has been a man of vision at Boys Town.

He's been one of the champions of our desire to break down the barriers, the silos between

health care and youth care.

Concretely what he helped us to do was to embed our Boys Town psychologists with our

pediatric practice.

He helped us to grow our Residential Treatment Center and bring it here to campus.

He came up with the idea of our inpatient psychiatric unit which is under construction

now and he helped us to bring Neurobehavioral research to Boys Town, which is a part of

our bright future.

When I think of him as a leader, I think the two things that come to my mind are the fact

that he's very well trusted and respected.

I think those are two qualities that are most important in a leader.

I think I would characterize John as a leader that is all about employee development.

He is about leadership development and he has built a very strong team as a result of

this philosophy.

I think John is an inspiring leader.

I think he works well with a team of other leaders at the hospital, to help bring out

their best, and he really has a laser focus on the mission of the hospital and presents

that to us, I think, as inspiration and motivation.

John has led us into a new era where the hospital has grown and developed into one of the largest

health care organizations in Omaha and stayed ahead of the curve in terms of research.

Those are very challenging things to do.

It requires a commitment of resources and the ability to recognize opportunities and

he's done that.

I'm often asked why in the world did you decide to run for the unicameral in Nebraska?

I mean, that is a frequent question.

The answer is very simple.

Frankly at this point in my life, I was looking for a broader platform to do good.

It's hard to walk away, absolutely, 25 years of your life, something that you've really

given yourself to, it's hard to walk away.

I'm grateful that I'm not disappearing.

Boys Town, Dr. Kolb have been very gracious to me in offering me an employee position,

here on a part-time basis, but in a consulting role.

They see value in having me around and I appreciate that.

I'm willing to do whatever I can to continue to help make Boys Town Hospital successful.

Climate Control for Museum and Archive Collections - Duration: 2:06.

- Hi, I'm Rachael Woody with Rachael Cristine Consulting

and I'm here to answer a frequently asked question.

And that is, what is the perfect climate control

for an archives collection?

And, according to the Northeast Document

Conservation Center, the perfect temperature

is no more than 70 degrees Fahrenheit

and 30 to 50% relative humidity.

Now personally, I prefer my archives

a little cooler and a little dryer.

So, I would recommend 60 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit

and about a 25 to 35% relative humidity.

Now, the other important things are to make sure

that there's no water that can get into the archives,

whether through the ceiling in a roof leak,

or through some sort of flood event.

And, another important marker is to make sure

that there's no direct sunlight,

this is especially important for documents,

photographs, or textiles that can fade.

Now, if you have a collection at home

and don't have access to climate control,

just make sure to keep them in a room that is cool,

dry and does not have wild temperature

or humidity fluctuations.

If you can store them in containers

that are acid free and keep them out of sunlight,

then you're already halfway there.

If you would like to take it to a pro level

then getting a Hygro-Thermograph

to install in the room would be great.

Hygro-Thermograph measures both temperature

and humidity so that you can keep an eye

on what the climate situation is in your collection.

Thank you for listening to a frequently asked question

in the archives.

C.A.S.T. For Kids Pro-Am at Lake Waco - Duration: 28:46.

- [Narrator] From Careco TV,

one of the longest running outdoor programs

on television today.

Exploring the country and the coast,

in search of adventures.

From the mountains of the great Northwest,

to the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.

This is Americana Outdoors.

Presented by Garmin.

(upbeat instrumental music)

This week, we're spending some quality time

with kids and families

at the Annual C.A.S.T. For Kids event.

And the Haley's Heroes Celebrity Pro-Am

Bass Fishing Tournament and Auction.

C.A.S.T For Kids is a non-profit organization

that's been around for 27 years.

- Our mission is to love and celebrate

children with special needs,

and show them that they're important and valued,

and we do that by taking 'em fishing.

And we put on fishing events all over America,

in about 80 different locations this year,

in about 35 states.

Follow the fishing up with a picnic lunch,

and an awards ceremony where we call each child up,

individually, and give 'em a plaque

with their photo in it,

and they get to talk into a mic

in front of a large group about their day,

and they get a big ovation.

And it's just really a cool, special time.

- [Narrator] At the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum

in Waco Texas,

an incomparable silent and VIP celebrity auction and dinner

is underway.

- We've doubled in size in three years.

We went from 40 events in 2016,

and this year we're gonna have a little over 80.

When you double in size,

that's more rods and reels,

you get way more tackle boxes,

more plaques, more trophies, more shirts, more hats.

'Cause we gift 'em all this stuff 'cause like I said,

we want 'em to go out and enjoy it

again and again and again.

So fundraisers become a necessity

to keep this foundation afloat.

(upbeat rock music)

Tonight we've got our banquet fundraiser,

tons of live auction, silent auction,

raffle prizes, all kinds of stuff.

Tomorrow we're gonna have 15 celebrities

were purchased by our donors,

and they're gonna go out fishing on Lake Waco.

Grand prize is a trip for six to Costa Rica.

And then while they're out fishing,

we have children with special needs

coming to the shores of Lake Waco,

and we're gonna teach them to fish,

and make it a lifelong passion for 'em.

- I'm always in awe when I go to an event like this

about how people just pour everything into it

from a passion standpoint.

You look at the leadership of C.A.S.T.,

you look at the people behind the scenes

at events like this.

You look at all the people

in the fishing and hunting industry

that get together to help this fundraiser,

because this is such an important event

to raise funds so that the next year,

kids can go fishing.

That they can catch that special thrill.

They can get hooked on the outdoors,

or just get out and have a smile

on a day that might necessarily not be their best.

I mean, it doesn't get any better

than a gathering like what we've got at Lake Waco.

- The families of these kids are special people

in themselves because we all,

all of us pray when we have kids

that they've got 10 little fingers

and 10 little toes.

We know that not all kids are born that way.

And they become even more special to their mom and dad.

It's amazing when you see some of these kids,

and we've got to know a lot of these kids

through some of these events.

It's amazing when you see how they act

and how their parents act around them,

and how everything they do,

it just lights their life up.

And that's what makes it so special

for us to be involved in something like this.

Those kids that have an illness,

God gave them something special in their life

that the rest of us don't have.

- You know, you go full circle

as an outdoors man.

And I know the first thing that you wanna do

is catch a million fish,

and then you wanna catch a trophy fish.

But the last thing that you ever wanna do as a sports man

is to help others.

And it's the last step,

and that's kinda where I am in my fishing and hunting.

And that is I wanna have

other people enjoy it for the first time.

And so it's really, it warms my heart

to take someone out to catch their first bass,

for example.

- Hey, I'm here to help out

with the C.A.S.T. For Kids here.

This little fundraiser deal.

I got a call from my good buddy, Walt Reynolds,

who introduced me to Roland Martin, Jimmy Houston.

And he told me about it and I said, well yeah.

Sound like a good deal.

- You know I tell you what,

to see kids get involved in fishing,

and see their first love for the sport is special.

It reminds me about when that happened to me,

when I was three or four years old,

fishing with my granddad.

You know, one things kids need to love fishing,

is they need someone to introduce 'em to it.

And that's what C.A.S.T. For Kids provides.

- Well like I said,

it makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

It's also humbling to be able to be a part of it,

and be able to give back of my time,

with whatever I can give is the least I can do

for what this cause does for the kids.

Kids of my own, it hits home when you see kids,

especially like I said,

it tears your heart out when you see a little kid,

that they got so many different problems

that they may have.

You know health, or being disabled, whatever.

And doesn't slow them down at all.

- [Interviewer] What are you looking forward to

about tonight?

- Watching her fish.

So she can have fun.

The thrill of the catch.

- I miss my mom.

- And just to watch her face when she catches the fish.

She brightens up and it makes her really happy.

- I love you, daddy.

- I love you, too.

- [Narrator] Hey, if you'd like to be a sponsor

for the C.A.S.T. For Kids Programs,

volunteer in the events or donate,

to help provide disabled and disadvantaged children

the opportunity to enjoy the sport of fishing and boating,

well please go to CastForKids.org.

Well coming up next,

let's join the pros and celebrities on the water.

The Haley's Heroes Celebrity Pro-Am Bass

Fishing Tournament is in action.

Americana Outdoors, presented by Garmin,

is brought to you by,

Garmin, fight your fish, not your fish finder.

Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's.

Your adventure starts here.

Ranger Boats, still building legends one at a time.

And by Yamaha Marine.

Reliability starts here.

(upbeat instrumental music)

Welcome back to Americana Outdoors.

We're in Waco, Texas,

for the second annual C.A.S.T. For Kids.

The Haley's Heroes Celebrity Pro-Am

Bass Fishing Tournament and Auction.

- Yeah, this is one of my favorite parts of the day

at an event like this.

You get to hang out here.

I mean there's Roland Martin sitting over there,

there's Gary Yamamoto.

I mean, legends in the industry,

which just tells you the depth

and importance of events like this

when guys like that that helped start

and build this industry come out

on their Fourth of July weekend basically,

and go do this.

It tells you all you need to do

about getting involved with C.A.S.T.

- Well today's game plan

is to go out and and catch some fish.

Yesterday, I went out for a couple of hours,

and I was getting a little discouraged,

and then I run up the river

then caught a couple of good ones,

and kind of got keyed in real quick

at the end of the morning.

So we're gonna head up there,

and hopefully I didn't hook too many of 'em.

And hopefully we can get some good ones.

- [Interviewer] Gary, what's the game plan for today?

- I don't know.

I'm gonna follow my guide.

He says he knows where the fish is,

so I'm not going to tell him where to go.

- [Interviewer] You're the guide?

- Yes sir, I guess so.

- [Interviewer] Tell me about Waco.

- It's a tough lake to fish.

It can be fun sometimes.

Sometimes it can be hard.

Hopefully it's like it was Wednesday when I came out here.

- [Interviewer] What was your strategy last year,

and what's gonna happen this year?

- My strategy last year was to get Alton Jones.

And that's my strategy this year.

- And it worked. (laughing)

We got the first half of it done.

Now all we gotta do is hopefully

go catch a fish somewhere.

I definitely have a target on my back.

Every pro that's come up to me said,

well are you gonna win it again this year?

Well, I don't know, but I sure hope so.

You know and honestly, I hope they finish second.

- You know, the list goes on and on

of guys that have won classics

and Angler of the Years,

and all sorts of different things.

But last year my dad did win this event.

So to say that there's a little bragging rights

on the line more than anything is an understatement.

So the goal is not only to catch a bunch of fish,

but just to beat my dad.

(suspenseful music)

- There it is, there's a bite.

There he is.

It's a little guy, but we'll take him.

See if he's 14.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa.

Defense, defense, defense, defense.

In the water.

Offense. (laughing)

Two guys going for a fish, and the fish wins.

I was hoping for a big one right there.

You get a good one?

- No.

- Little guy.

Well Panoptix has really changed the game

because it used to be on 2D,

you could only see a brush pile like that

when you went over it.

Now I was able to see and fish that brush pile

before we ever got to it.

I was able to just scan with my trolling motor,

look out to the side,

and know I'm gonna catch a bass right there.

And that's the Panoptix difference.

Alright, let's make a move, guys.

(bright country music)

- Well this tournament is C.A.S.T.'s largest event,

or fundraiser, that they have of the year.

Because they offer so many events

for kids to come out and fish,

disabled kids, mentally and physically.

And it's a great opportunity for kids

to get out and just enjoy

spending a day out on the water,

down by the lake, in the outdoors.

It's really exciting.

I've never been able to be a part of this.

I've heard a lot about C.A.S.T. over the years,

and to really see what they do

and what all goes into it is pretty cool.

- [Narrator] In the meantime,

the C.A.S.T. For Kids event is starting off

and taking over the banks of Lake Waco Airport Park.

42 children with special needs and their families

experience a fun-filled day of fishing,

thanks to the 58 community volunteers.

There are smiles, laughs, and squeals,

as they catch their first fish ever.

(people chattering)

- With C.A.S.T. For Kids,

we started it, we did it last year,

it was our first year.

It was really fun, it was good.

I think C.A.S.T. For Kids is great for out community.

It gives kids a chance to go do things

to where they have the volunteers,

and they help to do that.

To where if they didn't have this.

Other kids just may not have the chance to do this without.

They may not have the equipment,

the help, the extra help to do it.

So it just allows them to get out and do that.

- [Billy] Got it, nice.

- Okay, let's put him in this bag.

You wanna go weigh it now?

- [Billy] Let's go, let's go.

- [Announcer] 2.74.

(audience cheering)

- Just try to treat him like he's a normal kid.

Don't wanna, I let him get out in the water

just like my other kids, play and do everything

that normal kids do.

- C.A.S.T. For Kids, it's a great organization.

They've done awesome and amazing things for him.

They make him feel like he doesn't have a disability.

Because he gets to do things that the other kids--

There's other kids like him.

He can feel that he gets to be his self.

He doesn't get embarrassed,

or he doesn't feel like he needs to stand up and walk

and make himself do things that he can't do.

He feels more comfortable.

- [Billy] A big old kiss.

- No.

- [Narrator] Also, special thanks to

the Texas Game Wardens,

for taking the kids out on their boat

for a special ride.

Some kids even got to drive the boat.

(laughing)

(bright instrumental music)

Welcome back to Americana Outdoors.

We're on Lake Waco, Texas,

for the Haley's Heroes Celebrity Pro-Am

Bass Fishing Tournament and C.A.S.T. For Kids.

- Last year, we caught a bunch of fish.

This year, we're after big ones.

So me and my partner,

it's actually the same partner as I had last year.

Him and his dad bought the trip again.

And our game plan is to go fish some shallow wood

and stuff, really trying to catch a big one.

And then get out and fish some more house foundations

and brush piles and stuff.

Things that I used to fish

when I lived pretty close to here 10 years ago.

See what happens.

- Net?

Net?

- I think so, it's a good one, I think.

- Come here, fish.

Oh, well.

- [Keith] He's in a hurry.

I got him, buddy.

- [Andrew] You got him?

- Yeah.

There you go.

- [Andrew] There you go, hand it to me.

Came down here.

I fished with Keith last year.

We had a good, we had like about eight and a half.

I don't know.

- [Keith] We caught a lot of fish last year, I know that.

- I was gonna say, we called a bunch up in here,

and just, we were like, hey,

might as well try up here again, you know.

Last year, though,

they let us go a lot earlier, I think, or something.

- [Keith] I know it was raining.

(laughing)

- A little winky dink.

Winky dinks are eating.

(rock music)

- Any morning that you're fishing is good,

and when you get a chance to do something like this

with the kids are fishing,

and you got legends in the industry out fishing together

to help generate funds so that

we can do more of these for the kids.

It's a great day.

But when you look at it from a fishing standpoint,

we could be mowing yards right now.

And even when you don't get a bite,

fishing is a lot more fun than mowing the yard.

Uh oh, we got the tree.

Well, we've about 45 minutes left until

the best part of the day, in my opinion,

which is you get to go up there

and look at all these kids.

That have been having fun

and sharing some time with them,

we've had a great time.

All the anglers have had a great time

out on the water, I know.

But that's kind of a big highlight.

You get to go up there and look at their smiles,

because they're just gonna be grinning from ear to ear.

So that's really about it for us,

and about time to head to the weigh-in.

Oh, maybe a last second bass.

He's not a very big one.

Oh we caught a catfish.

You know what?

I'm gonna promise you for a bunch of kids

that like catfish up there,

and they had just as much fun as I did

catching that one,

probably more.

(country music)

- [Lyndon] What did we do, Jimmy?

- We did it.

- [Lyndon] Pretty good?

- Yeah, no, we're getting close.

The only difference really between

a professional bass fisherman and a--

- [Lyndon] Amateur.

- And an amateur is we know how to get out of trees,

and and get backlashes out a lot better

than regular weekend fishermen.

- I gotta tell you,

I've spent most my life

dealing with backlashes and hooked trees.

So I'm not sure,

you're bragging now. (laughing)

As you know, it's C.A.S.T. For Kids.

It's all over the country.

And this was a great success last night.

I absolutely loved last night,

and I hope next year,

that it can be as delightful as it was last evening.

Raised a bunch of money,

and it contributes to such a great cause,

for these children who many have not

ever experienced fishing.

Anyway, I hope they're catching a lot of fish right now.

(people chattering)

(crowd applauding)

(light music)

- My daughter is nine years old,

and she was born without an arm and a leg,

and she does everything.

I got a call one time.

My friend said,

would you take this little girl and raise her?

I'm like, oh my gosh.

I was like, I'm 49 years old.

She said, you can do it, you can do it.

So I've actually had Gabby since she was five weeks old.

It's been awesome.

I don't know what I would do without her.

She's loving it.

She just hasn't caught a fish yet.

(laughing)

- [Interviewer] Pretty persistent, though.

- [Vicki] Yeah she is.

She just needs to have a little patience, that's all.

- [Narrator] Coming up,

kids will get the chance to be a super star on stage.

Sharing their fun fishing stories,

and getting their rewards.

So stay tuned.

And the kids just can't wait to get on stage

to receive their awards.

- Thank you Joey, yeah. (crowd applauding)

Alright.

Give him a big round of applause.

(crowd applauding)

(whistling)

What kind were they?

Let's hear how many fish you got.

- I got three of 'em.

- [Emcee] You did, how about that?

That is awesome.

- A blue gill.

- He caught a blue gill.

Give him a big hand.

Hey Logan, was that the first fish you've ever caught?

- Yeah.

- First fish he's ever caught.

How about that?

- I caught three fish.

- You caught three fish, he did.

So you love fishing?

- Yeah.

- Hey I love fishing, too.

Give me five.

Alright, you keep fishing Logan, okay?

- Yellow fish.

- I was a yellow fish, two pounds, alright.

What about, do you like your reward?

Huh? - Yes.

- Did you have fun fishing today?

- Yes.

- Are you gonna keep fishing?

- Yes.

- Anything else you wanna say besides yes?

- No.

- Okay okay. (audience laughing)

Give her a big round of applause.

(cheering)

Hey, how was your fishing?

(people chattering)

(upbeat music)

- [Narrator] And now,

it's time to weigh in for the Haley's Heroes

Celebrity Pro-Am Bass Fishing Tournament.

- There's your leaders right there.

(clapping)

Very nice.

Our new leaders at the moment.

We'll make it to talk about the trip

with the people that are gonna win.

How about this, 13.04.

(cheering)

Hold 'em up.

There are your winners for the Costa Rica trip.

Six day trip for up to eight people, I believe it is.

- I kinda wondered out there.

I said, now wait just a minute.

Wait just a minute, you know.

They're calling these weights in.

We hadn't weighed in yet.

15.59.

They're heavier then they look.

These things eat some funny stuff.

They get out there and get on that rock pattern.

They get around them rocks,

they start eating them rocks.

They don't look that big, 15.59, wow.

(laughing)

- Well that was close.

It was 5.59.

He was trying to lean on the scale

during the whole time,

but it had already locked it on it.

- You know, I still remember watching

the bobber go down for the very first time

when I caught a blue gill as a little kid.

And every time I go out,

I still get as excited when I get a bite.

But a lot of the kids that C.A.S.T. touches,

I've never had that thrill.

They've never experienced that.

And C.A.S.T. provides that.

They let them experience what hooked us on the outdoors.

And whether it's gonna lead to a career,

or just a simple smiling moment,

for somebody that's fighting things

that many of us take for granted health-wise,

that's what this is all about.

Andreas' DM Message for "Our Voices - Our Life" - Duration: 10:24.

I was 32 at the time, today I am ... no, not 52:

We have known each other for about 25 years.

That completely irritated me. I did not understand the meaning of such a disease.

I knew the term "MS" from an earlier teacher of mine who was affected,

but I did not know that there are so many different muscle diseases

In the foreground of my perception was your mother, because she was also present at this time.

Her symptom's development has been visible.

In my eyes, you were simply a carrier at the time, which did not mean to me that you will develop symptoms.

I felt quit unable to sort this in correctly.

I thought, "He is just panicking. For a carrier, this will not necessarily lead to consequences."

In retrospect, I experienced it differently, which gave me something to think about.

At the fine motor skills, it first became visible: Thread something,...

At this time, you were still sewing and you wanted to be creative.

It has become clear to me that this is became more difficult for you.

This shocked me a little, or I realized what that means

and that you were affected as well.

Interesting are these ups and downs. In the one week you walk without orthoses and cain,

your motor skills are ok, and next week it is different.

As I experience it: Every day is different for an affected individual.

I always experience you in different phases. Not progressive...

... sometimes declining, then I think "great", today he is walking without aids,

the next day nothing seems to work

and one week later everything seems to be back to "normal."

It is interesting to see this and adjust myself to it depending on the situation.

Your responsiveness while driving:

When I chat - I'm just a gossip - you get distracted easily.

I have found that you ability to concentrate has partially decreased.

I experience the interaction with each other as very loving and empathic.

Another point: Moving my body has been very important to me for a long time.

Jogging, swimming ... for me, exercise has long been something very essential.

I've met people who can do this less because of their limitations.

I have had some great experiences, e.g. with a woman who depends on a wheelchair:

We have taken a long "walk". That has been a beautiful exchange.

I have learned to get away from the fixation of being able to move with my legs only.

You can also move without using your legs and feel happiness and joy.

In the foreground, I see the exchange of life experience,

but also how to develop which strategies. I think it's very important

that those affected continue this exchange in their various stages.

I experience this exchange of tips and information very enriching.

I loved how well Prof. Sinnreich, an exact scientist, has informed the group of recent scientific achievements.

I think he has great empathy for the group "Myotonic Dystrophy".

He was also willing to give tips. As a plus, he is a researcher in the field of rare diseases

I do not find them really rare. Well, the pharmaceutical industry can earn less from it, but that's a different story.

These lectures are very competent, informative and contain many practical life tips.

The speaker benefits from feedback from the group and this has been wonderful last time.

The participants were glad about the information from the scientific side

and he has taken their concerns very seriously.

When personal issues were raised in the discussion, he answered them directly.

I thought that was great and very emphatic.

My horizon has widened. In oneself one has the desire to be "wholesome"

I have developed a softness and the insight that there are different concepts of life.

It was great for me to find out in this group how those affected develop strategies

to find ways to better deal with their so-called "deficits."

One reports that he walks a lot, Prof. Sinnreich finds this rather unfavorable but for the affected person it works.

There are different ways and strategies. I think it proves to be successful when affected persons reflect

and try something independently.

There are classic medication and therapies, e.g. electrotherapy, which I personally find very useful.

One could surely do something supportively with homeopathy or also with spagyric.

At the moment I am diving into the clinical picture of the disease and its symptoms

and think about homeopathic approaches,

which, in addition to the classical therapy, could have a mitigating or supportive effect.

I would be happy to give a talk about it. This is also a learning process for myself:

What does the content mean? What possibilities exist and where could one intervene supportively?

Make oneself visible and present. It is important that (the disease) is perceived.

In a way, the almost global project "Our Voices - Our Life" is public relations.

I think it is important to mark presence, to declare oneself and to show how DM-affected individuals live their life.

Robert Bowers Politics: He Wrote He Didn't Vote for Trump | Heavy.com - Duration: 11:39.

Robert Bowers Politics: He Wrote He Didn't Vote for Trump | Heavy.com

Robert Bowers has been named as the man accused in the mass shooting at Pittsburgh's Tree of Life synagogue.

That has a lot of people wondering about his politics, and whether Robert Bowers is a Republican or Democrat, a Donald Trump supporter or not.

Such questions were bound to arise fast because the accused package bomber, Cesar Sayoc, was an avid supporter of the president.

In the case of Robert Bowers, though, his writings on social media indicate he wrote that he did not vote for Trump and held some animosity toward the president because he saw him as a "globalist" who was not doing enough against Jewish people.

Bowers is in custody; he has gunshot wounds and is in fair condition, authorities said.

Daniel Stein, a new grandfather described as beloved family man, was the first deceased victim to be named.

You can read tributes to the victims here.

The suspect's ideology – again, as indicated by social media writings on a Gab account in his name – appears to be virulently anti-Semitic.

Pennsylania's voter registration data requires detailed information, including a zip code.

A voter registration for Robert D.

Bowers states that he is an unaffiliated voter.

Pennsylvania voter registration for Robert Bowers.

The voter registration says:.

ROBERT D BOWERS (Date of Birth: 09/04/1972) is registered to vote in ALLEGHENY County.

Status : ACTIVE. Party : NO AFFILIATION.

The suspect's disturbing Gab account included a post in which he appears to have directly telegraphed what he was about to do.

Here's what you need to know:.

The Suspect Wrote That He Didn't Vote for President Trump.

Robert Bowers doesn't appear to be a Donald Trump fan from his social account.

He also wrote several hours before the shooting in a comment thread, "For the record, I did not vote for him nor have I owned, worn or even touched a maga hat." That came in reply to a post about Trump.

In a post two days before the mass shooting, he wrote, "Trump is a globalist, not a nationalist.

There is no #MAGA as long as there is a kike infestation.

#Qanon is here to get patriots that were against martial law in the 90's to be the ones begging for it now to drain muh swamp.

But go ahead and keep saying you are #Winning.".

A post that Robert Bowers shared on Gab.

Trump came up several times in his writings, but was not framed positively in them.

Robert Bowers shared virulently anti-Semitic and white supremacist commentary.

He also made posts about weapons.

In addition to his own hate-filled writings, he shared anti-Semitic posts from other people.

For example, one claimed, "Jews love persecution.

It justifies offense and reinforces the need for strength in numbers to divide and conquer.".

He shared a cartoon someone else shared that showed a Jewish man saying in a fake conversation to Donald Trump, "Your character will appear to the public as a white racist.

Its (sic) how we control Whites." The Trump character responds, "yes sir" in a comment bubble.

The post shared by Bowers said, "The character we've chosen for you is of a good, strong white leader who is acting in the interests of his country.

We must keep whites asleep for a few more years so they are totally outnumbered by our non-white minions and can never regain their country.

Do this and we'll keep your family safe & wealthy, & we won't tell anyone about your trips to Lolita Island.".

He shared a post from someone else who used swastika and SS symbols with their name.

"Kick the Jews OUT! This is Not Their Home!" it read.

He shared a post by someone else that read, "First Trump came for the Charlottesville 4 but I kept supporting Trump because he is better than Hillary Clinton.

Then Trump came for the Rise Above Movement but I kept supporting Trump because he is better than Hillary Clinton.

Then Trump came for the Proud Boys but I kept supporting Trump because he is better than Hillary Clinton.

Then Trump came for me…".

He also reposted a comment from someone else that said, "Thought for the day: there are people running around warning you to not listen to the Nazis.

90% of the time these people are Jews…".

He also wrote, "(another person's handle) be like: 'Q is the way, the truth and the LARP.

No one comes to the MAGA but by him.' Also, you are still dodging my simple question.

Are you or are you not a Jew?".

He shared another post that read, "Jews are waging a propaganda war against Western civilization and it is so effective that we are headed towards certain extinction.

The Suspect Wrote That He Was 'Going in' Shortly Before the Mass Shooting.

Just minutes before the shooting, the 46-year-old Pennsylvania man wrote on his GAB page, "HIAS likes to bring invaders in that kill our people.

I can't sit by and watch my people get slaughtered.

Screw your optics, I'm going in." Authorities say he did just that, shooting multiple people and responding officers in the nation's latest horrific mass shooting.

GAB is a social media network that positions itself as an alternative to Twitter and Facebook because it champions free speech.

Three days ago, Robert Bowers, who also goes by the name Rob Bowers, wrote on the GAB account, "Daily Reminder: Diversity means chasing down the last white person." His profile picture on GAB, where he's had an account since January 2018, reads, "jews are the children of satan.

(john 8:44) — —- the lord jesus christ is come in the flesh.".

Here is an archive of his GAB account.

Here's a second archive.

Be aware that it takes awhile to load because there are so many images in it.

He shared, 17 days ago, the website of HIAS, which included the "National Refugee Shabbat, a project of HIAS.

He wrote, "Why hello there HIAS! You like to bring in hostile invaders to dwell among us? We appreciate the list of friends you have provided" and then shared a link to a HIAS list of congregations.

(The website of HIAS describes it as an organization that was "founded in 1881 originally to assist Jews fleeing pogroms in Russia and Eastern Europe, HIAS has touched the life of nearly every Jewish family in America and now welcomes all who have fled persecution.".

That link to the HIAS page went to a page that read, "National Refugee Shabbat 2018 is a moment for congregations, organizations, and individuals around the country to create a Shabbat experience dedicated to refugees.

" It then listed participating congregations.

Police Dispatch Audio Indicates the Shooter Said He Wanted All Jews to Die.

The active shooter at the Squirrel Hill Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania made comments about wanting all Jews to die, according to police dispatch audio.

The audio, from Broadcastify, captured officers relaying the suspect's alleged comments to dispatch.

It was not immediately clear from authorities how many people were shot or deceased.

However, CBS Pittsburgh reported that at least eight people were dead.

The fatality count later rose to 11.

Using Rental Income to Qualify for a Mortgage - Duration: 2:18.

- Hi there, this is Brendan Stoneman with RE/MAX Kelowna.

I'm sitting down with Jewels Ferris, mortgage broker

with Canadian Mortgage Experts.

So now as housing prices rise

in the Okanagan area, I'm finding more and more buyers

are really leaning heavily on rental suites,

just to help with some of the financing costs.

Just wanted to chat with you about using rental income

to help buy a property and how that works.

- Yeah, definitely.

I feel like right now, especially with our

housing prices increasing, and therefore mortgage

payments increasing as well, it's really helpful

to have a mortgage helper with that basement suite

to help offset those costs.

So, I'm certainly can help you to qualify.

There's a couple of different ways

that we can calculate the rental income,

depending on which lender we go with.

The banks typically use what's called

a 50% add back, and so that rental income calculation,

without going into too much detail,

helps you to qualify for about 8% more of a purchase price.

So, it helps, but not a lot.

As a mortgage broker we have access to lenders

that will do what's called an 80% offset

of the rental income, and that calculates

into about a 30% higher purchase price

than you would have without it.

So substantially helping what you can qualify for.

- Yeah, so now, is there any difference

between a home that's got a legal suite

versus a suite that's not legal

in how they recognize that income?

- In BC no, if it's legal or illegal,

we still use the same rental calculations

to qualify the client.

The most important thing is that it's self-contained,

has a separate entrance, a kitchen, a bathroom,

that sort of thing.

But a lot of properties have in-law suites

that aren't legal, yeah.

- Now, what about obviously a bit of an emerging trend,

with people turning to short-term rentals

Airbnb's that sort of thing, how does that

kind of I guess rental revenue, factor into qualifying?

- So we can't use that rental income

to help clients qualify, it has to be actually

a long-term tenant.

So the lenders are looking for a 12 month lease agreement.

- Okay, so then in this situation,

obviously working with a mortgage broker

would have a ton of benefits

in helping clients buy a property

if it does have a rental suite in it.

- Absolutely.

POOLi helicoid for Century Pro series HD COMPACT.8х(75mm front lens) mini review - Duration: 3:54.

Hello everyone, with you Andrey Kramar and this is a small review

My helicoid for Century compact lenses

Here is a wide-angle Century compact with a 75mm front lens

And the back lens is 64mm diameter

For these lenses, I made a heliсoid

Which can be installed on different anamorphic attachment

And focus from one meter to infinity

The helicoid has a linear motion of the lenses

Front and rear M77 thread

To set filters

and rear, for adapter ring

From a wide-angle remove the lens

Here we remove the retaining ring

And install the lens

Do the same with the rear lens

Remove the retaining ring

And install the rear lens.

And it turns out the single focus anamorphic attachments

The course of the lenses is small, which gives an advantage over other models of lenses from the wide-angle Century

In order to install the helicoid on the anamorphic attachment, I make a transition ring

In this case M77 on diameter 70mm

The ring is wound on a helicoid

And mounted on the attachment

And we get the ability to focus from one meter to infinity

The helicoid has a standard gear 0.8 mod for any fallow focus

Front M77 thread for fitting filters or close up ND filter

With you was Andrey Kramar, until the next reviews.

Healthy Desserts For Hockey Players 🍦- Quick and Easy Recipes! - Duration: 5:02.

- Hey, hockey players.

Coach Garner here from HockeyTraining.com.

In this video, I wanna run you

through three different healthy desserts

that you can start incorporating

into your meal planning today.

Look, a lot of us love to have a treat every now and then

but none of us really want to go offtrack

from our goals in hockey or body composition transformation.

These are the healthy treats that you can use

to have something good and still stay on track.

You're gonna love 'em.

Let's get into it.

Alright, the first recipe we're gonna make is healthy,

high protein chocolate ice cream.

What you're gonna need to make this recipe

is one tablespoon of mascarpone cheese,

a half a cup of chocolate whey protein,

three quarter cups of ricotta cheese,

preferably the low fat version,

and two teaspoons of vanilla extract.

The first step is simply measuring out each ingredient

and adding them to a blender.

Alternatively, you can use a hand blender

to make things easier if you have one at home.

Once you've got the ingredients measured out,

we want to blend this on high until it turns

into a smooth mixture.

Alright, now that we got that all blended up,

what we're gonna do is we're gonna put a lid on this thing

and we're gonna put it in the freezer

and you're gonna wanna take it out and stir it a little bit

once every 30 minutes and you're gonna wanna do

that little stir every 30 minutes

at least three times before you start eating it.

Alright, so just a quick stir like you see me do in here.

And after your third time stirring it,

the ice cream should be ready to eat.

Let it sit for a minute or two, scoop, and enjoy.

Alright, the next recipe we're gonna get into here

is low carb, protein peanut butter cookies.

All you're gonna need is four things.

We're gonna need a quarter cup of coconut milk,

a quarter cup of ground almonds,

a half a cup of vanilla whey protein,

and two heaping tablespoons of peanut butter.

Before you start prepping the cookies,

we're going to want to preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

From there, you wanna mix all the ingredients together

until a dough is formed.

We're gonna put down a sheet of parchment paper

on a baking sheet and transfer the cookie dough

on to the paper.

Press each cookie down with a fork

to flatten them out just a little bit

like you see me do in here.

Alright, now that we've got our cookies laid out,

we're gonna put them in the oven at 350 degrees

for 10 minutes, but keep an eye on them.

Everybody likes their cookies cooked a little bit different.

10 minutes is gonna have them cooked

and a little bit soft on the inside.

Once your cookies are done, take them out of the oven

and let them sit for a few minutes and enjoy.

Alright, keeping these healthy desserts nice and simple.

Now we're gonna do a no bake,

high protein, healthy cheesecake.

There's a lot of ingredients here

so I'm not gonna go through how much you need

for each one, but you're able to find that

in the description below, and also

in a downloadable free healthy hockey recipe guide

that we've got prepared for you.

But what you are gonna need is three scoops

of vanilla whey protein powder, you're gonna need

some low fat cream cheese, some low fat cottage cheese,

some instant Jell-O, preferably chocolate

but using a cheesecake flavor also works here,

you're gonna need graham cracker crumbs,

you're gonna need flaxseed meal, some oat bran,

and then you're gonna want a nine inch cooking pan here

to put this all in.

So how this is all gonna work is we're gonna oil up

the pan first, lay the crust down,

and then put the filling on top after that.

Okay, so we're gonna start off by making the crust.

In a bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs,

flax seed meal, and oat bran.

And then we're gonna wanna heat up the cream cheese

for about 15 seconds and mix it all together

until we get an even consistency.

Once you're done, you'll wanna coat the pan

with cooking spray and press the crust into the pie pan

as best as you can.

Next, we're going to make the cheesecake filling

using a blender.

Combine the cottage cheese, cream cheese,

protein powder, and Jell-O pudding mix into the blender

and blend on high until the texture is smooth and creamy.

Pour the filling over the top of the crust evenly

and put the cheesecake into the fridge

for a minimum of one hour.

Once you're ready to eat the protein cheesecake,

simply remove from the fridge and enjoy right away.
