hello everyone its Shel C from PaperOcotilloStudio
and it is time for October's vlog I try at the beginning of the month to
give you a heads up as to what's going on for the month what's coming up in the
month anything that you might want to be aware of what's going on with my channel
what's going on with everything and also thanking people who have generously
donated to me and my channel those type of things I I brought out a bunch of
false stuff here because you know fall and October is when we start thinking
about pumpkins I always think about pumpkins in October because my kid was
born in October and he loves pumpkin pie for his his birthday I always think
about leaves I think about the colors changing and I think about hibernating
and being cozy and things like that so I got out some different stuff to show on
the desk since you don't see me you only see my hands on my channel yeah it's the
dancing hands so that's why all these things are here um I didn't want to
mention a challenge that goes on in October for those of you who want to
participate it is called inktober and last year I did inktober inktober is
about drawing each day it's about practicing illustration and I followed
along with one called 31 witches last year and I made this little junk journal
out of bags and then I created my 31 which is which drawings and I actually
colored them I think a lot of people with inktober just do the inking part
but I did this last year I'm not going to be doing inktober this year and the
reason that I'm not is because I will be traveling and that was my next topic as
you're listening to this vlog right now I'm already traveling I'm up in Sedona
and I'm with my mom and relaxing time looking at the beautiful rocks and
nature of Sedona so I'm gonna be traveling also to another place another
beautiful place later in the month and I can't tell you about that because it's a
secret but I traveling a lot this month so that's the
reason that I'm not doing inktober but I recommend that you guys do it you can go
onto Instagram and you can find prompt lists there's ones for monsters there's
ones for just the regular prompts from the guy Jake that started a long time
ago there's all kinds of prompts out there that you can do and it's really
good for practicing your drawing for practicing your illustration for
learning how to ink and that type of stuff so I say go do inktober and post
your pictures for everyone to see it would be awesome another challenge is
coming up in November and I'm just giving you a heads up because we always
do this and we'll have our own prompt list is art journaling and our journal
page every single day of November and this book was the book that I made last
year for that challenge and I opened it to a nice fall leaf page I love this
page I love the shimmery paint but this is also a junk drawer literally made out
of junk mail and I just sewed it together and I did in art journal page
every day in November last year and I didn't year before in here before and
there's there's all kinds of videos about that on my channel and playlists
and everything but I'm just giving you a heads up about that in November we'll be
doing our generally every day with our own prompt list and so I hope that you
guys will be playing with that with us because it's really fun there's the
progress from last year it's from our joy sharing so I hope you can join me in
that next month in November starting November 1st and we'll be putting out
the prompt list sometime a few days before November 1st the next thing I
want to talk about is pick a stick challenge obviously we do that every
single month and this was my October last year's page and has a lot of like
beads and texture and interesting stuff on it and it's got collage I took it out
to see what I did last year and this year mine will be coming up on Friday so
watch out on Friday it's the first Friday of the month that Peggy and I
in our videos so watch for that we're still doing art joy of sharing live
stream every Thursday at 8:30 Pacific time in the morning and that's over on
art joy of sharing live stream channel and this week we will not be doing it
because I'm I'm out of town so I can't really do a live stream if I'm out of
town I'm out in my studio but we'll be doing the following week we'll be doing
surrealism and then the week after that I'm not sure I can't remember what we
scheduled but anyway you can come and watch us live and participate talking to
channel and ask questions it's always a lot of fun other things that I'm doing
in this month of October I'm going to be doing a video hop for Dia de los Muertos
and I did not get that down I should get that down it is my my offering tray for
Dia de los Muertos I put a candle and I put some some food and different things
on this on the last day of October for the holiday because it's a big holiday
in the place that I live so it's just celebrating the people who have passed
the loved ones who have passed so this was something that I made a long time
ago on my channel I'll link it in the iCard and there will be a hop it's being
hosted by al art and there'll be a lot of videos with that theme sometime in
middle of the month I'm not sure the exact date
I'm also participating in the paper doll art doll exchanged this month and the
theme is dress up in Halloween so I'll be making some time on my channel I'll
be making an art doll in that theme and sharing it with a partner and then the
other thing that I know for sure that's coming up this month is the company
craft who sent me the box and I made the
dragon things out of it the journal in the box they were so happy with you
guys's comments and everyone was excited about the projects and they decided to
send me another box so sometime in this month I'll be making another project
with a different themed crafts box from that company um let's see what else yeah
that's what's coming up in October as far as I know there will be other things
but I don't know what they are at this point so just keep watching my channel I
put out a video pretty much every other day and so there's always something to
look at I want to see my thank yous you know down below the video there is a
little button and it is a PayPal donation button and once I started
putting that button on there some people have donated to my channel and I'm so
very appreciative appreciative of that that is so generous of them to donate
their hard-earned money to my channel to help me continue to do these free videos
and the three for this month are Lynda Arlene and Dorothy thank you very much
for your donations ladies
speaking of that I've been trying to think of a way to reward my people who
donate with my paypal donation button and I've been sending it when on PayPal
some people have their address on there and if someone has an address on their
PayPal account I can send something and I've been sending different things to
different people and you know things that I've made
sometimes it's ATC's tags cards sometimes it's something bigger if their
donation was substantial but there are a lot of people who don't have their
address on their PayPal so I've been thinking about starting a newsletter and
I don't know I mean you know it's a tricky thing because I personally have
way too much stuff in my email and so I don't tend to sign up for people's
newsletters but I was thinking of making a newsletter that has some sort of an
exclusive content that is released early to the people who are subscribing or
maybe only they get it or maybe it's a coloring page of a lot of my
illustrations or I don't know something so for those people who have been
donating and I'm considering doing that so if you if you're listening give me a
comment below what you think about that I don't want to fill up people's email
inboxes with stuff I just tried to to give something back
I guess I'm already giving back but I'm giving ahead actually but I like to just
do something like that and then maybe other people could sign up I don't know
it's just an idea yeah I think that's it for the vlog I hope you guys are gonna
continue watching subscriptions are going up up up still at the same rate
that they have been pretty much but views likes comments and all that type
of stuff has been going down and I don't know if that's because my channel is
becoming irrelevant or if it's because YouTube is once again doing what they do
I don't know but I hope that you guys continue watching I hope you're enjoying
