Today I thought we'd do a little gardening with Daniel as we discuss basic Christian

apologetics.

It is a really nice day outside, so why not?

Over time I hope to make this channel a valuable, well researched and loving resource for Christian

apologetics and Christian theology.

So today we're going to start, well, from the beginning.

What is Christian apologetics?

What is a Christian apologist?

So yes, I know that this is a very simple topic, but we gotta start somewhere right?

Over time, we'll build up our mental fortitude as we learn together.

I have previously created a christian apologists youtube list that you can watch by clicking

But let's take a step back and define apologetics and what it is to defend Christianity.

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines Christian apologetics as a .

It is the process by which we attempt to present Christian truth by utilizing evidence, science

and reason.

Apologetics does not mean apology!

Oh..

I thought it meant apology.

I'm sorry.

Nope, it doesn't.

Well, I will use my apologetics to apologize Dude.. it doesn't mean that.

I apologetically apologize It doesn't mean that.

I'm sorry!!!

DUDE!!!

The word apologetics is a derivative of the Greek word apologia which basically means

to 'give a defense'.

It is believed to reference the courtroom system in ancient Athens where the defendant

was allowed to give a reply to the accusations against them.

That they could give their own defense or, apologia.

You will VERY easily find that the predominate scripture driving Christian apologetics is

1 Peter 3:15,

"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope

that you have.

But do this with gentleness and respect..

"

I must emphasize the 'gentleness and respect' part.

We could probably all talk about Jesus with a bit more gentleness and respect to the listener.

I know I could.

Apologia, in various forms, is utilized in the New Testament 17 times but it always translates

to 'defense' or 'vindication'.

Even the Apostle Paul used it.

There are primarily 5 different kinds of apologetics and each one differs on the elements that

it focuses on.

I will most likely go into each one in detail in a future video but if you are curious to

The 5 kinds of Christian apologetics are Classical, Evidential, Experiential, Historical and PreSuppositional

apologetics.

If you're interested in apologetics quite often the amount of information associated

with just one of these is so much, that apologists typically focus on just a couple of these

approaches.

But wait..

What's an apologist you say?

I'm sure you wise and good looking people can obviously figure out that an individual

that utilizes apologetics to defend the Christian faith.

I personally believe that in order to be an apologist maybe it means on more of a professional

level, or in an academic scenario.

I say this because I've been called an apologist a couple of times through this channel and

I am NOT at all.

I am a normal dude.

Well, 'normal'.

Though I do read a lot of theology and apologetics and I enjoy it.

I'm nowhere near smart enough to be an apologist.

I'm not even sure if this camera is on.

I hope that this video has helped clear up what apologetics actually is and what an apologist

is.

I know, it's basic stuff but, again, I want to start this channel off with you from the

ground up and build from there.

I have a genuine question for you.

I was thinking of beginning to do a regular livestream each night, just for 15 minutes

or so, where we could pray together and for one another.

I was thinking each weeknight at around 9pm Eastern time after we cross the 1,000 subscriber

mark.

Is this something you'd be interested in?

The seven-state coalition that filed a lawsuit against the federal government to stop the

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program created by President Barack Obama

is asking the judge to issue a nationwide preliminary injunction, Breitbart reports.

Breitbart Texas reported that the States of Texas, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Nebraska,

South Carolina, and West Virginia filed a lawsuit in the Southern District of Texas

seeking to end what Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton called the "unconstitutional

DACA program"

"Our lawsuit is about the rule of law, not the wisdom of any particular immigration policy,"

Attorney General Paxton said in a written statement on Tuesday.

"Texas has argued for years that the federal executive branch lacks the power to unilaterally

grant unlawfully present aliens lawful presence and work authorization.

Left intact, DACA sets a dangerous precedent by giving the executive branch sweeping authority

to ignore the laws enacted by Congress and change our nation's immigration laws to

suit a president's own policy preferences.

It's a travesty of justice that three unelected federal judges are forcing the Trump administration

to leave an unlawful program like DACA in place indefinitely," Attorney General Paxton

said on Wednesday.

"Activist judges should not stand in the way of the president fulfilling his constitutional

duty.

Our coalition is confident it will prevail with its lawsuit to end DACA, but in the meantime,

the federal government must be enjoined from issuing or renewing any DACA permits under

this unlawful program."

The DACA Directive ordered that our immigration laws would no longer be executed against a

class of 1.7 million illegal aliens, or 15 per cent of what DHS estimates to be the total

illegal alien population.

Such an exercise of "deferred action" to such a broad group of foreign nationals

who chose to unlawfully and irresponsibly violate our sovereign borders is most certainly

not consistent with a president's duty to faithfully enforce the peoples' democratically-enacted

laws.

When it comes to immigration, Attorney General Sessions was correct when he said that the

"compassionate thing is to end the lawlessness, enforce our laws, and, if Congress chooses

to make changes to those laws, to do so through the process set forth by our Founders in a

way that advances the interests of the nation."

That is essential to preserving our constitutional republic.
