5 Best Sciatica Stretches for a Herniated Disc - Ask Doctor Jo - Duration: 8:20.
hey everybody it's Doctor Jo, and today I'm going to show you my top 5 sciatica
stretches for a herniated disc. so let's get started.
if you haven't already subscribed, make sure and click on the button down there.
so as I said earlier, this is for if you have a herniated disc. these stretches
would be a little bit different if it was something like piriformis syndrome.
so the first stretch is going to be rolling over onto your stomach lying
down. so this is just a simple prone prop. so what you're doing is you're starting
in the lying down position. get nice and comfortable. bring your elbows up towards
your head and then prop up on your elbows. so you can bring them in a little
bit closer if you want to. the goal of this is to keep your hips down. so you're
just coming up and getting that bend right there at that low back. so what
this is doing in theory is this is pushing that herniated disc back in to
take the pressure off the nerve, and so when that nerve gets pressed on that
sciatic nerve, that's what causes that numbness tingling going down into your
butt, down into the back of your leg, and that's what sciatica is. so with these
props, sometimes it's a little more painful at first. you might feel a lot of
the symptoms coming on, and that's ok as long as it starts to go away or subside
as you do it more. so I would just start off with 10 or 15 second,s come back down,
take a little break, and then prop back up and do this you know 3 or 4 times
slowly building up your time. so you know 20 seconds 30 seconds, and then again if
it is coming from the disc, the more you do this that pain should start coming
back to the center, or we call it centralizing and that's a good thing. a
lot of times people will say well I don't feel it anymore here, but I feel it
more in the low back, and that's centralizing, and that's actually a good
thing. that's what you want. so after you do those four a couple times, then you're
going to roll over onto your back, and even though the sciatica is coming from
the disc, we want to stretch out the piriformis muscle.
so a great one for that is the figure four stretch. that one's the one that I
like the most. so the side that you want to stretch, if it's my left side I'm
going to cross that leg over. and the reason it's called a figure four is
because if you look down it looks like the number four. so for this one, you can
do it a couple different ways. the easiest way if you have some flexibility
and if you can do it without straining your neck, it's just to grab underneath
the other side and pull up towards you and you should feel that stretch right
through there, that piriformis area. so you want to hold that stretch for thirty
Seconds. now if this is something where you're not super flexible or you're
already feeling the stretch right here, you don't have to do that extra piece. or
if you having a hard time grabbing that leg you can just slide your heel up
closer to your bottom which will bring that leg up a little more, or you can
take like a belt or strap and wrap it around that leg and then just pull it up
that way because you don't want to end up stressing your neck and getting your
neck hurting to try and get the low back in that sciatica feeling better. so make
sure that you're keeping the rest of your body in a good neutral position. so
the last couple stretches and I I say quote "stretches" are really going to be
nerve glides because if the sciatic nerve is getting compressed at your discs, you
want to do some things where you're kind of trying to move or glide that sciatic
nerve to get it freed up. now with nerve glides or neural flossing some people
call it, you really want to be very careful with this because nerves are
pretty fragile. so if you do a lot, sometimes you just irritate it more so I
always tell people just do 10 once a day that's it. don't do ten, three or four
times a day throughout the day, I would just start off with one set and stick
pretty close to that because again if you do too many you're going to irritate
it. so this time if it's still my left side that has that sciatica on it, I'm
going to bring my leg up to about a ninety degree at the hip and grab
underneath right here. you don't have to pull up you're just kind of supporting
that leg. and then all you're going to do is
straighten out your leg and kind of bend your toes towards you and then come back
down. so this isn't a 30-second hold like the piriformis stretch, this is actually
just going up and down. so toes are kind of pointed as you come up pull them
towards you and you just go till you feel, you might feel that numbness and
tingling as you go, but this is kind of flossing or gliding that nerve. and so
again you just want to do about ten of those and then that's it. so the last two
are going to be sitting in a chair. so the fourth stretch is going to be
another one of those glides. so I had mentioned on the other one that you're
always supposed to do ten just once a day. if you're doing different ones it's
okay to do just ten of each as long as it's different, but if you're feeling
like you did one set and it still is still feeling a little tingling, that
tingling didn't go away, I wouldn't recommend doing all these at one time.
maybe spread it out through the day. so now that you're sitting this time for
the glide. what you're gonna do is you're gonna kick out that leg and as you kick
out that leg, you're gonna bend your head back. and then when you come back down,
you're gonna curl your chin in towards your chest. so it's gonna be kicking out,
looking up, and then as you come down kind of tuck it in. so we're just taking
that nerve all the way the whole chain up to the neck, and flossing or gliding
it through. so if it's kind of compressed somewhere that's getting pinched
somewhere, this kind of helps loosen it up and gets that nerve free. so it's not
getting compressed on, it's not getting pinched on, or maybe if there's some
scarring it will break it up. so get just ten of those and then if you're doing
another kind of a stretch that's okay, or a different glide, but don't keep doing
them all at one time because then that might just irritate it. so the last one
you're gonna be using a stool. so this one is still kind of a glide, but
it's slightly different. so that's why I think it's okay to do it with these
other ones. but again just ten of them. so I'm just going to
switch it up because the stool is on my right side so the side that you're
having that sciatica, you want to prop it up. the key to this is you want to
keep your toes and your foot straight. a lot of times if you have really bad
sciatica, once you start doing the glide that I'm going to show you, a lot of
times the leg wants to turn in. it wants to follow your body. really try and keep
it nice and forward because if it starts going over, then you're not really
getting that Glide or that stretch or that flossing that you want. so just try
and keep those feet, the the foot and the toes straight forward. so you want to
keep your body nice and upright, and you want to look straight ahead. so I'm going
to be looking at you a little bit but you want to look straight ahead. keep
your head in that neutral position and then once you get in this nice position,
you're going to take the hand of the opposite side, and just lean away from
that side. so again if you are really tight and you have a lot of that
irritation going on, a lot of times when someone bends to the side, their foot
wants to go like that with their body. try not to let it do that.
you want to keep everything nice and straight, and just lean away from that
side. so again, just doing about 10 of these. don't feel like you have to go all
the way down to the floor, you're just going till you feel that little bit of a
stretch, and then come back up because you don't want to irritate that nerve. so
those were my top five sciatica stretches from a herniated disk. if you'd

forget to subscribe by clicking down there. and remember, be safe (don't
irritate that nerve), have fun, and I hope you feel better soon.

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has advice for Jurgen Klopp after Real Madrid defeat
Jurgen Klopp's men finished runners-up this year after Los Blancos beat them 3-1 in Kiev on Saturday night.
Gareth Bale scored twice and Krim Benzema also netted thanks to two huge gifts from Loris Karius.
But the Anfield outfit should take heart in their performances on the way there, says the Kop favourite.
Fowler said: "The final in Kiev may seem like the end of a journey for Liverpool, but I have a deep-rooted feeling it is just the start for Jurgen Klopp and his team.
"As an aspiring coach, it was incredible to listen and learn from him.
"We talked tactics and man-management, players and pride, but the things that stood out for me were his love for his men and Liverpool as a football club.and his incredible, unadulterated passion for his job.
"What clearly came across were his feeling that he's privileged to manage Liverpool, and his genuine love for his players.
"They can also see the pleasure they get out of playing for that team.
"It was incredible to listen and learn from him." Robbie Fowler "Most of all, they can see being part of it can give them big finals, amazing experiences.and if you think that's all rubbish and the top players JUST chase money, then Virgil van Dijk tells you very differently.
"But it is well documented he was pursued by other clubs with even deeper pockets, and at that time a more obvious bet to make big finals.
"He was clever enough to see what is going on with Klopp though, and see what can happen at Liverpool.
"I'd like to give massive credit to Van Dijk for having the perception to look through money and see beyond that.
What he saw was a manager who builds something which feels incredible to be part of.
"A team who love their football, and actually feel close to each other and are part of something bigger.".

A Better Super System for You - Duration: 2:20.
Our super system has become a lottery – lucky for most people but unlucky for many others.
We've got some ideas to make the super system work better for everyone – and we need to
make sure young people are put into ONE top performing fund.
It's hard to get young people interested in their super.
And you can't blame them because today super is more complex than it should be.
But we can make changes so the super system works better for today's workers and retirees.
In today's super system, if you don't choose where your super money goes, your employer
does.
And we've found that your money isn't always ending up in the best performing super
fund.
A small difference in how your fund performs will make a big difference when you retire.
We think new employees should get to choose from a small list of the top performing super
funds, a best in show list, but still be able to pick any fund they want.
And if you don't choose a fund, then your default fund comes from the best in show list.
Once you are put in this fund, it will follow you, across every new job and new employer
Unless you make a choice to move to another fund.
This will stop your super balance being eaten up by multiple fees and insurance premiums.
In some cases you might be paying premiums for insurance you're not even eligible to
claim on – a zombie insurance policy.
For people who are already paying super we have some ideas on how to get more people
into the top performing funds and how to stop people having multiple accounts they don't
want.
Even if you aren't that young, you can be a lot better off in retirement.
These changes will make it easier for you to find the best performing funds so you can
safely decide whether you should stay or move funds.
And so you can also get helpful advice when you get closer to retirement.
We want to hear from you, on what you think about our ideas.

RFK JR. SHARES THE REAL REASON THE WEST IS PUSHING FOR WAR WITH RUSSIA - Duration: 11:33.
RFK JR.
SHARES THE REAL REASON THE WEST IS PUSHING FOR WAR WITH RUSSIA
BY ARJUN WALIA
The statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting the blame upon the nation that is attacked,
and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them,
and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself
the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process
of grotesque self-deception. Mark Twain
The recent chemical gas attack in Syria has once again lit a fire under the global population,
a split is being created.
Every single year, the divide as to whats really happening in Syria gets stronger and
stronger.
Although division and the constant opposing narratives between the mass population
only creates more conflict, drama, and confusion, in this case its much different, because
before it was simply believe what we hear, now, we are learning to question it.
What we have here is a classic case of media giants spewing opposing views.
On one hand, we have the western military alliance claiming that a chemical attack occurred
in Syria and was done so by the Syrian President, Bashar Al Assad, despite the fact that absolutely
no evidence of this being so was presented.
This narrative is dished out from intelligence agencies via western mainstream media.
Investigations are currently taking place as to what really happened there, as the OPCW
chemical weapons inspectors recently arrived inside of Douma to do an inspection, as it
would be nice to actually have some real evidence that a chemical weapons attack occurred.
On the other side of the coin, there are a number of journalists, academicians and politicians
whove voiced their concern that this could be a false flag attack.
In fact, after the last supposed chemical weapons attack, Russian President Vladimir
Putin came out and said that it was a false flag and that more are being prepared in
Syria. Not long ago, a Russian general went on Russian national T.V. letting the
citizens know that they had intel of another staged gas attack to occur in Syria.
Despite the fact that a large portion of westerners resonate with this viewpoint, it is still
greeted with a harsh response in many cases, often deemed as Russian propaganda.
Obviously, Assad has denied any chemical weapons attack on his own people.
As a side note, when we say staged, we mean just that, with crisis actors being involved.
On the other hand, there are also staged real events, where people do lose their lives and
are actually victims of weapons attack, that could be the case here in Syria as well.
The Deep State has a long history of labelling foreigners as dictators, sponsoring terrorist
activities in those countries and influencing a regime change to suit their own best interests.
These are facts that are hard to argue against, and many political and military figures from
around the world, including the United States, on-top of uncountable academicians, have all
expressed their concern that this is exactly what were seeing in Syria right now.
Can you imagine?
A power so strong that they have their hands in the creation of terrorist activity, in
order to justify the invasion of another country for ulterior motives, while looking like the
humanitarian and saviour?
I dont want to get into it here, as I recently published an article that goes into a little
more detail about the recent chemical attack in Syria, linked below:
MIT Professor Emeritus Claims Latest Chemical Attack In Syria Was Not Assads Doing
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.s Perspective I want to focus on long time activist, Robert
F. Kennedy Jr., and zero in on his post about the chemical weapons attack that was blamed
on Assad, prior to the most recent one.
Kennedy writes,
Americas unsavoury record of violent interventions in Syria Obscure to the
American people yet well known to Syrians sowed fertile ground for the violent Islamic
Jihadism that now complicates any effective response by our government to address the
challenges of ISIS.
So long as the American public and policymakers are unaware of this past, further interventions
are likely to only compound the crisis.
Moreover, our enemies delight in our ignorance.
Also, I believe its important to mention that when the term Islamic State or
Islamic Jihadism is used, it in no way represents any muslim person whatsoever.
The global war on terrorism is a US undertaking, which is fake, its based on fake premises.
It tells us that somehow America and the Western world are going after a fictitious enemy,
the Islamic state, when in fact the Islamic state is fully supported and financed by the
Western military alliance and Americas allies in the Persian Gulf.
They say Muslims are terrorists, but it just so happens that terrorists are Made in
America.
Theyre not the product of Muslim society. Dr. Michel Chossudovsky
This quote highlights one of many examples of how religion is being used by the global
elite to basically create chaos, making their intervention a little easier.
Kennedy believes this is another pipeline war, citing the fact that the worlds addiction
to oil, when oil is completely unnecessary at this point, is creating social chaos, war,
terror, the refugee crisis overseas, and the loss of democracy and civil rights both abroad
and at home.
He is no doubt correct, and obviously has knowledge of this type of thing given who
he is and what he and his family have experienced inside the realm of geopolitics.
Kennedy states, we might want to look beyond the convenient explanations of religion and
ideology and focus on the more complex rationales of history and oil, which mostly point the
finger of blame for terrorism back at the champions of militarism, imperialism and petroleum
here on our own shores.
The truth is, plans to create dramatic political change in multiple countries have been in
the works for quite some time.
Titled Syria: Scenarios of Dramatic Political Change, this document was written in July
of 1986 by the Foreign Subversion and Instability Center, part of the CIAs Mission Center
for Global Issues.
It states its mission to analyze a number of possible scenarios that could lead to the
ouster of President Assad or other dramatic change in Syria. Though the document is
25 years old, it shows that the U.S. plans to influence and infiltrate Syria to create
change that would suit their own interests and dates back well over 30 years.
The document also comes with similar testimony from insiders.
One example would be former Four Star General Wesley Clark, who was the Supreme Allied Commander
of Europe of NATO from 1997-2000.
Clark said, in an interview with Democracy Now, that the U.S. had plans to invade countries
in the Middle East, including Syria, for no justified reason at all.
He offered the sentiments of some within the American military, that they have a good
military and that they can take down governments. He spoke of a memo that described
how the U.S. had plans to take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq,
and then Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and finishing off, Iran
In Kennedys article, he explains how long before the 2003 occupation of Iraq by the
United States (which was justified by 9/11), the US government triggered the Sunni uprising
which has now become the Islamic State. The CIA had nurtured violent Jihadism as
a Cold War weapon and freighted U.S./Syrian relationships with toxic baggage, explains
Kennedy.
The CIA began its active meddling in Syria in 1949barely a year after the agencys
creation.
Syrian patriots had declared war on the Nazis, expelled their Vichy French colonial rulers
and crafted a fragile secularist democracy based on the American model.
But in March of 1949, Syrias democratically elected president, Shukri-al-Kuwaiti, hesitated
to approve the Trans Arabian Pipeline, an American project intended to connect the oil
fields of Saudi Arabia to the ports of Lebanon via Syria.
In his book, Legacy of Ashes, CIA historian Tim Weiner recounts that in retaliation, the
CIA engineered a coup, replacing al-Kuwaiti with the CIAs handpicked dictator, a convicted
swindler named Husni al-Zaim. Al-Zaim barely had time to dissolve parliament and
approve the American pipeline before his countrymen deposed him, 14 weeks into his regime.
Syria is one of multiple countries currently standing that has not been completely destroyed
and transformed by the United States.
In order for these interventions to occur, the United States and their allies desperately
need to justify reasons for intervention to their populace.
The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the
masses is an important element in democratic society.
Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government
which is the true ruling power of our country.
We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely
by men we have never heard of. Edward Bernays (the father of public
relations), Propaganda, 1928 (note that Bernays book, Propaganda, begins with the
above quote).
The point is, the idea that these gas attacks are false flag events, and the idea that the
US has their hand in such attacks to help oust Assad, while at the same time branding
him a dictator and a war criminal, is nothing new.
Its not Russian propaganda and its something thats been happening for a long
time.
The Bigger Picture Were obviously going to get nowhere on
any subject if human consciousness is continually divided as to whats really happening.
Thankfully, human consciousness is changing, and the conflict thats been taking place
in Syria right now is a great example.
If these attacks happened not but 5 years ago, maybe 10, the idea that this was a false
flag wasnt even a narrative within the mainstream.
At least now we have a large portion of the population addressing questions and concerns
that werent really addressed in the past.
This is a great example of how humanity is waking up, and if we want to stop these problems,
we must first identify them, and thats whats happening.
This means that people are actually doing some critical thinking, and doing some independent
research instead of constantly being influenced by the perspective of mainstream media.
This is an encouraging sign.

Liverpool news: Tony Adams slams players for shunning Loris Karius in Kiev - EXCLUSIVE - Duration: 3:53.
Liverpool news: Tony Adams slams players for shunning Loris Karius in Kiev - EXCLUSIVE
Karius had an evening to forget in the Champions League final after being at fault for two of Real Madrid goals in Liverpool's 3-1 defeat.
The German shot stopper cut an isolated figure as the final whistle went after being abandoned by his team-mates on the pitch in Kiev.
And he was clearly distressed when he went over to the massed Liverpool fabs gesturing his apologies.
Adams says the scene reminded him of Beckham's infamous dismissal against Argentina 20 years ago when petulantly kicked out at Diego Simone in the World Cup last 16.
He said: "I was the only guy that consoled Beckham and I just had a bit of fun with him.
"I was the only guy that consoled Beckham and I just had a bit of fun with him" Tony Adams "I tried to lighten things up and said: 'Look you're young, you'll have lots of other opportunities.
That was my last one you bastard!' "He laughed and it kind of broke him out of his tears, sometimes you need other players around you." But Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has defended his keeper and said he must not take the blame for their defeat.
"When we win, we win together," said the Croatia centre-back.
"When we lose, we lose together - so don't blame him.
"It's easy to blame someone, but we are in the same ship together and everyone gave him the best words that they can.
"He will come back strong.
You cannot find the words.
He had a difficult start last season, so I believe in him.
"Of course it's big because it's a final but everyone makes mistakes." Karius replaced Simon Mignolet as Liverpool's No 1 around the turn of the year but his deputy was also quick to offer his support.
"Every goalkeeper can relate to him," said the Belgian.
"I've been in this situation before and every keeper has been.
"It's very difficult to say something to someone after the game.
"The only thing I told him is that there is a reason we got to this final and why we played this final so I said think about that.
"Liverpool stands for unity, Liverpool stands for all together.
"Can he bounce back? He surely will, he's only young.".

Coconut Water for Treating Hypothyroidism - Duration: 8:31.
Coconut Water for Treating Hypothyroidism
Do you suffer from hypothyroidism? It's certainly a very common disease, which usually results in patients having to undergo long-term treatment and take medication to correct the problems with their thyroid gland.
It's a type of autoimmune disorder that almost always requires a change in lifestyle, in addition to a life-long commitment to medication.
Is it possible to cure hypothyroidism? Sometimes patients eventually trick their thyroid into producing enough thyroid hormone to function at the appropriate levels.
But it requires a great deal of effort, motivation, and the ability to combine their prescribed treatment regimen with changes in their everyday activities.
For example, were you aware that coconut water is an excellent way to stimulate an underactive thyroid?.
Find out everything you need to know in today's article.
The many benefits of coconut water for the thyroid.
If you have hypothyroidism, you likely suffer from many of the following symptoms:.
Weight gain. Headaches.
Insomnia. Hair loss. Dry skin.
Sensitivity to cold, always having cold hands and feet.
Near constant fatigue. Muscle aches.
Urinary infections. Constipation.
All of these problems are almost certainly associated with the fact that your thyroid isn't producing enough thyroid hormone to regulate the basic functions that let you lead a normal life.
But to counteract those effects and get your thyroid back up and running normally, you need to be taking the right medication for you, which your doctors have probably already prescribed.
Nevertheless, there are lots of people who get frustrated when they don't see immediate results, and for a while they may continue to suffer from those side effects we listed above – like weight gain and tiredness that deprive them of their normal lifestyle.
What can you do? What if no matter how much you exercise you can't lose those extra pounds, and vitamin supplements don't seem to help at all…So? Try adding some coconut water to your diet.
1, Coconut water helps regulate thyroid function.
One of the best properties of , and even coconut oil, is that it helps regulate the function of the thyroid.
Its natural enzymes stimulate the production of an underactive thyroid, and if your thyroid happens to be overactive it can help regulate that as well.
But thanks to its ability to help control weight gain and regulate intestinal and digestive function, coconut water is usually recommended for people with hypothyroidism.
2, Coconut water helps strengthen your immune system.
Coconut water is high in potassium, phosphorus, iron, and calcium.
All these things can help you avoid infections that you might otherwise succumb to due to a lack of the thyroid hormone.
It also helps speed up your metabolism, meaning you can fight fatigue better and feel stronger, while boosting your natural defenses.
3, Coconut water fights cellular oxidation.
When you have hypothyroidism, your cells become oxidized more quickly due to the hormonal deficit.
That makes it harder for your body to process foods, your skin becomes drier and less elastic, you start to suffer from liver problems, and more.
Combining your prescribed medication with coconut water will raise your body's levels of antioxidants, helping you synthesize thyroid hormones more efficiently.
It's worth remembering.
4, Coconut water keeps you hydrated.
Dry skin, fatigue, headaches…all these symptoms are due to the altered function of your thyroid gland, which can inhibit other basic bodily functions.
If you try drinking two to three glasses of coconut water a day, you'll be giving your body the hydration it needs.
5, Coconut water helps nourish the hair, skin, and nails.
Coconut water is great for returning minerals that are lost to the body, which can stimulate the growth and overall health of the hair, skin, and nails.
6, Coconut water improves digestion.
People who suffer from hypothyroidism have slower, heavier digestion.
They often feel overfull and suffer from fluid retention or constipation.
Don't think twice – drink a few glasses of coconut water and benefit from its content of bioactive enzymes like phosphatase or peroxidase acids, both of which are excellent for digestion.
7, Coconut water for weight loss.
Thanks to its digestive benefits and ability to activate a slow metabolism while cleansing the body of toxins, coconut water makes an ideal complement to a proper diet and weight loss regimen.
You'll see great results.
How should you consume coconut water to treat hypothyroidism?.
Try drinking two or three glasses of coconut water after your mail meal, for 20 days.
Rest for 10 days, then repeat.
If you like you can also try coconut oil instead.
It's equally beneficial.
Make sure you buy organic coconut oil that's produced naturally.
It must be kept in a cool place, and you'll consume a tablespoon of it every day, preferably in the morning.
Like coconut water, coconut oil speeds up your metabolism and stimulates the production of thyroid hormone.
It's fantastic.
