Waching daily May 14 2018

Today's questions is, "Are the miraculous gifts of the Spirit for today?"

In this video I'll answer that question from a biblical perspective.

Afterwards, as always, I'll share some helpful resources, so stick around until the end.

First, it is important to recognize that this is not a question of whether God still performs

miracles today.

It would be foolish and unbiblical to claim God does not heal people, speak to people,

and perform miraculous signs and wonders today.

The question is whether the miraculous gifts of the Spirit, described primarily in 1 Corinthians

12–14, are still active in the church today.

This is also not a question of can the Holy Spirit give someone a miraculous gift.

The question is whether the Holy Spirit still dispenses the miraculous gifts today.

Above all else, we entirely recognize that the Holy Spirit is free to dispense gifts

according to His will.

In the book of Acts and the Epistles, the vast majority of miracles are performed by

the apostles and their close associates.

Paul gives us the reason why: "The things that mark an apostle—signs, wonders and

miracles—were done among you with great perseverance," 2 Corinthians 12:12.

If every believer in Christ was equipped with the ability to perform signs, wonders, and

miracles, then signs, wonders, and miracles could in no way be the identifying marks of

an apostle.

Acts 2:22 tells us that Jesus was "accredited" by "miracles, wonders, and signs."

Similarly, the apostles were "marked" as genuine messengers from God by the miracles

they performed.

Acts 14:3 describes the gospel message being "confirmed" by the miracles Paul and Barnabas

performed.

Chapters 12–14 of 1 Corinthians deal primarily with the subject of the gifts of the Spirit.

It seems from that text "ordinary" Christians were sometimes given miraculous gifts.

We are not told how commonplace this was.

From what we just learned, that the apostles were "marked" by signs and wonders, it

would seem that miraculous gifts being given to "ordinary" Christians was the exception,

not the rule.

Beside the apostles and their close associates, the New Testament nowhere specifically describes

individuals exercising the miraculous gifts of the Spirit.

It is also important to realize that the early church did not have the completed Bible, as

we do today.

Therefore, the gifts of prophecy, knowledge, wisdom, etc. were necessary in order for the

early Christians to know what God would have them do.

The gift of prophecy enabled believers to communicate new truth and revelation from

God.

Now that God's revelation is complete in the Bible, the "revelatory" gifts are

no longer needed, at least not in the same capacity as they were in the New Testament.

God miraculously heals people every day.

God still does amazing miracles, signs, and wonders and sometimes performs those miracles

through a Christian.

However, these things are not necessarily the miraculous gifts of the Spirit.

The primary purpose of the miraculous gifts was to prove that the gospel was true and

that the apostles were truly God's messengers.

The Bible does not say outright that the miraculous gifts have ceased, but it does lay the foundation

for why they might no longer occur to the same extent as they did as recorded in the

New Testament.

TesseracT - Odd Time Signatures (Part 1) - Music Theory Hacks from "Sonder" for Chord Progressions - Duration: 6:31.

three, two, one!

I'm Jay

and I'm James from the band TesseracT

and welcome to the two part series on TesseracT time signatures

on the Hack Music Theory show

Nailed it!

We're changing things up this week for two reasons. Firstly, our good old chums

and prog rock legends, TesseracT, were in Vancouver last night, so we got to hang

out and catch up! And secondly, we reached 80,000 subscribers this week!

[Cheering]

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to each and every one of you for joining our

Hack Music Theory revolution. Yeah, we only started a YouTube channel last year

and this time last year, we had about 80 subscribers!

So to celebrate this milestone, and the revolution that we're all creating here together,

we're making you a special series on TesseracT time signatures.

TesseracT has a truly refreshing approach to time signatures,

so in these videos, you'll learn their hacks to

liberate your chord progressions and riffs from 4/4!

And by the way, if you're new to our channel, I'm Kate Harmony, this is Ray Harmony,

and you're watching the Hack Music Theory show, where you are empowered

with notation free theory for making great music!

Alright let's get cracking, so we're gonna focus on the

theory behind their lead single "Luminary" from the new masterpiece of an album, "Sonder".

If you haven't heard "Luminary" yet, do yourself a favour and pause this

video right now, and go have a listen at: TesseractBand.co.uk,

and while you're there, check out

the cities and dates of their world tour, cos you do not want to miss this band live,

they're one of the tightest bands we've ever seen! Right, back to the theory.

TesseracT are renowned for perfectly balancing the artistic with the

accessible, resulting in incredibly intelligent and creative songs, that are

also super catchy! And this is why they appeal to music lovers of all genres and

why the theory in this series can be used in all genres, too.

Right, without further ado, it's time to reveal the theory hacks

behind TesseracT's wizardry.

But first...

TEA!

[music]

This hack is what TesseracT geniously use in their "Luminary" chorus,

which is in the key of D minor (AKA D Aeolian).

And that is what you're seeing on your screen right now.

So if you want an epic course, like "Luminary", start by writing a chord progression in a minor key.

But, here's the problem, there's already a zillion other songs with minor key choruses,

so how do you make yours unique?

Easy, you just use this hack!

Before we reveal it though, if you're a beginner (or if you just want a little refresher),

then please read our free book

"12 Music Theory Hacks to Learn Scales & Chords",

the link is below.

Right, here's how the "Wrong Time, Right Place" hack works.

There's only seven triads in a minor key and those are on your screen now.

So, obviously your chord options are extremely limited.

However, there are literally an infinite amount of harmonic rhythms and

time signatures you can use for your chord progression.

So, the "right place" part of this hack

is all about choosing the right chords (in other words, any of these seven),

and the "wrong time" part is this hack is all about playing those chords

in an unpredictable harmonic rhythm within an unpredictable time signature,

or two, like in the "Luminary" chorus.

Now here's how you can use this hack in your own music in three simple steps:

Step one. To get that powerful "Luminary" feel,

set your tempo 78 BPM and your grid to two bars of 12/8.

Yeah and 12/8 is in the family of time signatures known as "compound time",

and they divide music into groups of three 1/8-notes,

which is more drawn out so it feels more dramatic than time signatures in the "simple time" family, like 4/4,

which use groups of two 1/8 notes.

Step two. Decide what chords you want to use

from the key of D minor,

and draw each chords' root note on your grid

(you can fill the rest of the notes in later).

So here's the chord progression that we wrote.

In our first bar we chose four chords, we started with Dm then we went up to B♭maj

and then down to Cmaj and then up to Am.

Then we wanted to kick things up in the second bar, so we chose six chords.

We started with B♭maj, then we went up to Gm, and up to Am,

and then we went down to Cmaj, and then up to Am, and finishing with B♭maj.

And finally, Step 3.

Apply the "wrong time" part of this hack to your chord progression.

TesseracT masterfully twists two bars of 12/8 into one bar of 11/8 and one bar of 13/8,

resulting in two odd time signatures replacing one even time signature, it doesn't get better than that!

To pull off this magic trick, all you need to do is steal one 1/8 note from bar 2, and donate it to bar 1.

The easiest way to do this, is to choose a chord in bar 1 that you wanna shorten,

and a chord in bar 2 that you wanna lengthen.

So in bar 1 we decided to shorten the B♭maj, and in bar 2 we decided to lengthen the Am.

Now, select all the chords in between those two chords you just changed,

and move all that MIDI an 1/8 note earlier.

Tada, your chorus just got the TesseracT "wrong time, right place" makeover!

And you'll notice we now have an unpredictable pattern of groups of three 1/8 notes

and groups of two 1/8 notes,

and that's exactly what transforms this chord progression from ordinary, to extraordinary!

And just a little bonus step for you, to make the most of your new and improved harmonic rhythm,

be sure to accent the chord changes with your drums.

Yeah, so for example when you

write your drum part for this chord progression, start by putting a kick drum here,

a snare drum here, the kick drum here, a snare drum here, and so on.

And just before the final playthrough,

remember to stay tuned for part 2 of our "TesseracT time signature" series.

And if you like these hacks, then please subscribe and hit the bell to get notifications.

Thanks for joining the Hack Music Theory revolution, and we'll see you next week!

#4 HOW TO STYLE: HOW TO FIND YOUR PERFECT JEANS - FOR EVERYBODY - Duration: 5:53.

Hi thanks for watching our new episode of For Everybody.

I am Jamie Joëlle and today it is all about finding the perfect jeans for your

body type. Recently we uploaded a video

where we explain which body type is yours.

So if this is unclear for you, watch this video to figure it out.

Today we will show you the perfect jeans for 6 different body types.

And hopefully we will find your perfect jeans as well.

If you have a straight figure with a less visible waist than you wish

that this is the ultimate jeans for you. This model gives a focus on the waist

that happens because of the high waist. It does not matte if the jeans has a

skinny or straight leg like this one.

This is the mom jeans which you can find in a lot of collections. The great thing about this model is

is you have a small butt and you want to focus more on that area, than you can buy

a jeans with pockets under and on the butt.

This will create a lifting effect which gives

your butt a round look. If your shoulders are wider than your hips,

than this low rise bootcut model is the perfect jeans for you.

That is because the jeans are a bit wider at the bottom.

Which makes your body optically more in proportion

and reduces the focus on the shoulders.

If you have really long legs as my beautiful Alie,

than it is possible to wear low rise jeans which means that the jeans begins on the hips.

which make your upper body more in proportion.

So if you have wider shoulders, this is the perfect jeans for you.

With the O-line, also known as the apple, it is good to wear a jeans

with a dark washing. If the jeans has a dark washing

it brings the focus to the slim legs If the volume is more around your waist

it is useful to wear a jeans that has a higher waist.

Because it will cover the volume around your waist.

Besides that you can wear it in a skinny or slim fit version, like this one.

This one has a fun detail on the bottom.

Which will put the focus even more on the legs.

So if you are the body type O or apple than this is the ultimate jeans for you.

Do you have wider hips compared to the top of your body

than your body type is a pear or the A-line.

This jeans is the perfect one for you.

This one has a lot of stretch, which is great for

the hips and thighs. It is important to wear a high waisted jeans

because it will create more length and gives a focus on

the length of your legs instead of the width.

It is important to have as few details as possible on the pockets

and around the waist to reduce the focus on that area

and the jeans needs to be skinny to give extra focus on the length of the legs.

If you are a hourglass than your waist is the smallest area

of your body. This will be your perfect jeans. If the waist of the jeans

is high, like this one, it will focus on the

smallest area of your body. This is a flare jeans

The top of the jeans is very tight and skinny

but the bottom is wider which will create length and makes

your legs look smaller. Because it is tight around

the upper leg and hips it will focus more on the

curies which you should emphasize. This is also a great pair of jeans

if you have shorter legs

because it creates length. Is your body type petite, which means

that you are smaller and shorter, this will be the perfect jeans for you.

The waist needs to be higher, which gives the legs a longer look optically.

Because it starts at a higher point of you body. It also creates more curves because the pants

are skinny

If your legs are shorter and your pants are mostly to long just

turn them around at the bottom

Or let them get tailored. But this your perfect jeans if

you are petite. These were our tips to find

the perfect jeans. I hope it will

help you to find your perfect jeans. Please let us know if you liked

this video. If you have questions about fashion

leave it in our comments and maybe we can

discuss it in one of our next episodes.

If you want to see more of our videos please subscribe on our channel.

And I hope you will watch the next time again. Bye!

Finding and using research evidence: A guide for citizens (Introduction) - Duration: 6:00.

Welcome to the course on finding and using research evidence a guide for citizens my name

is Kaelan Moat and I'm from McMaster Health Forum. I'll be presenting the modules to you in this course.

This course was prepared by McMaster Health Forum

with funding support from the Ontario SPOR SUPPORT unit

In this introduction

In this introduction

I'll present you with an overview and a purpose of the course

the first main reason for this course was to help citizens and patients find and use the best available research evidence

to inform their own decision-making

the modules that you'll see as follow-up to this particular module were designed to address five commonly cited frustrations

that a lot of people note having when they try to access research evidence and other health information

We'll get to those frustrations and later modules.

By addressing these concerns

we hope that it will help you overcome these frustrations when you're trying to access evidence

to be better equipped to use high quality evidence to make decisions in your own life

and when you're advocating for change that he you want to see in your Health System.

As mentioned in the previous slide there are five common frustrations that are experienced by citizens, patients and family members that

this course will address.

The first one is that the Internet has a lot of information of questionable quality.

The second is that there are no useful supports for making health decisions based on this information.

The third is that there is value in research evidence but it's not always clear to people reading it how to act on the information

presented.

The fourth is that research needs to be put in context in order to understand.

The fifth is that people often hear about new research through the media

but they don't really understand how to use it or whether it's reported correctly

The importance of this course to citizens and members of the general public

just stem from the fact that everyone has many health related questions that they are seeking answers to.

When looking for these answers

you can choose from a variety of sources.

Finding trustworthy health information however is a challenge for everyone it's even a challenge for highly trained researchers

and professionals.

There have been a number of initiatives to help clinicians, public health professionals and

policymakers quickly find the evidence that they need to answer their questions.

These tools allow them to find the needles in a haystack that is one piece of evidence among many different sources.

For clinicians there's a database called Accessss.

For public health professionals there's a database called Health Evidence.

For policymakers there's a database called Health Systems Evidence.

This helps these professionals find the highest quality research to answer their questions.

On the screen now we're showing you Accessss

which is the database designed to support clinicians in making decisions about the health of individuals. Does treatment A work better than treatment

B? This is the resource for professionals trying to answer that type of question.

We're now showing you Health Evidence which is the database designed to support public health

Decision-makers to make decisions about the health of populations.

Does this mass media campaign work better than another one to help stop people from smoking?

That's the type of question that is answered with this database.

And we're now showing you Health Systems Evidence which is the resource designed to

support policymakers make decisions about how to strengthen Health Systems.

All three of these resources

are free to the public although they're not necessarily designed to support citizens.

Citizens need resources like these but packaged in a way

that makes more sense to them.

We'll now transition to showing you those types resources.

Luckily there are people who are interested in trying to develop tools

that make it easier for citizens to quickly find the information that they can trust

and that they can use to inform their own decisions.

McMaster Optimal Aging Portal is one illustration of such a tool. It focuses on ensuring citizens and

patients can quickly access the best available health information

that are relevant to the issues that they care about most.

This resource specifically focuses on optimal aging but provides a great illustration to show the

many ways in which evidence can be better packaged for use by citizens.

It draws on the tools we just went over that focus on information for clinicians,

public health professionals, and policymakers but the information is tailored for citizens and patients.

Some of the tools just mentioned help to put the research evidence into a better context for citizens to understand by incorporating individuals'

lived experiences such as their experience accessing Primary Care Services

or in accessing follow-up Cancer Care Services

or by enlisting an individual's values

that can help them guide their decisions

such as how their cultural beliefs may impact the treatments they choose to go forward with.

One area where more work is needed however

is that these tools incorporate Indigenous Ways of Knowing. This would allow for more culturally appropriate decisions by indigenous peoples

so that their values can also be considered alongside the best available research evidence.

We're now going to transition

into showing you all of the available resources in the McMaster Optimal Aging Portal by focusing on how they address the frustrations that are commonly

cited by citizens and patients for accessing health information.

We'll get to that in the next module.

HOW TO CLEAN FALSE EYELASHES FOR REUSE | Save Money! - Duration: 3:14.

Hi guys!

Today I'm showing you how to clean your lashes!

Actually before I became a makeup artist I had no idea that you reuse lashes and I was

always like why do people buy lashes for about 20 Euros if you just throw them away after

using them once.

I am not a very smart cookie, but then I figured out if you have expensive lashes, you can

clean them, you can really use them like up to twenty times or even more if you take good

care of them.

So here is how I do that.

So the first thing you wanna do is just take a pair of tweezers and take off the worst

bit of the glue, be careful not to damage the lashes doing this though.

You can any use any kind of face wash but I'm using the Garner SkinActive Micellar Wash

Gel All-in-1.

I'm just adding a few pumps of this to lukewarm water

and now I'm just adding the lashes to that water.

I'm gonna set my timer and I'm going to leave them in there for about fifteen minutes, stirring

occasionally.

Now especially if you're using mascara on top of the lashes, which I don't usually do

because I feel like it just damages them um you can see little specs of glue and mascara

floating around in the lash container and now it should be really easy to take off the

glue of the lashes.

It's normal if the lashes lose a few um individual lashes but it shouldn't be too much and just

keep on doing this until everything is gone.

Now just place them in the container they came in or something else that is curved similarly

um because you don't want the to dry straight, you want them to dry curved, so they go easier

on your eye and now just take a clean mascara wand and brush them through, so the hairs

don't dry clumped together but they're nice and individual and here are the lashes nice

and clean!

I really hope that you liked this video, if you did, you can always subscribe right here,

you can leave me a thumbs up and hit that notification bell.

My videos come out every Tuesday and Friday and most of the time in between depending

on how much time I have and I really hope I have a lot of time, so I can make a lot

of videos for you because it's quite fun at the moment, so yeah, I really hope I'll see

you next time!

Bye bye!
