Waching daily Oct 2 2017

Hi everybody! Welcome back to the channel it is Claire and Rags and it is finally

October which you know what that means it's nearly Halloween now I don't know if you've

noticed but Halloween is kind of my esthetic and so it's already a massive

and amazing time of year for me it is a great

countdown to Halloween and because I love this time of year so much this

month on relax my cat my vlogs are all going to be in Halloween related DIYs

recipes and a few bits of advice thrown in so I thought I'd kick off the

Halloween season with some safety tips! These are all very important obviously

Halloween is a lot of fun but any of your fun following you should not come

at the cost of your cat's health or comfort so Rags and I quickly have a 5

Halloween safety tips for you and your cat! First one is keep your cat away from the door

First one is keeping your cat away from the door Now obviously with the trick or treaters coming around and

the doorbells going to go on in the door is going to be knocked at all times and

they're going to be lots of unfamiliar smells and sounds this kind of thing can

really stress your cat out especially if they are an indoor cat and are much used to have more quieter existence

The best way to combat this is to get your cat a

nice and securely locked away somewhere comfortable for them with all amenities

that they need so food water litter box and a nice comfy bed

Second one is all about candy now Halloween sweets are one of my absolute

favorite things about Halloween actually but they are not to be shared with your

cat I'm afraid especially chocolate though

most cat owners will know that cats are naturally lactose intolerant so giving them

chocolate is an absolute no-no. Same goes for any other sweets that you have

Your cat might like the smell or the taste of them but it really isn't a good

idea to share your sweets with your cat I'm sure that'd be much more happy with a nice big can full of dreamies

The third one is concerning costumes on your cat

now if you are lucky enough to have a cat that while tolerates having a costume on them make sure that safety is at your main

priority make sure they're not wearing anything that is highly flammable always

or it's going to be restricting them to them around their neck or their bodies make sure there's

nothing that can get caught and strangle or throttle them

and if your cat is in a costume and it is really really unhappy don't continue

to have them in it - it's not fair they're going to be upset and stressed out just

so that you can get cute Instagram picture

The fourth one regards outdoor cats so if you have a cat that is more of an outdoor cat than an indoor cat I

do suggest that you keep your cat indoors on Halloween there are a lot of

sort of tricks and hidings going on and it'd be really unfair if your cat got

caught up in that especially sometimes because people like to use fireworks so if you

do have them in majority outdoor cat keep your cat in a couple of days before

Halloween and a couple days after so they don't sort of feel a bit too

outsourced being kept in one night all the sudden. This is just to make sure

that your cat is safe indoors and comfortable and if it's on I think it's

fairly obvious one if you have Pumpkins or Jack lanterns lit with a candle make

sure these are far away from your cat and not put anywhere that your cat can

easily get to. Cats and candles don't mix so make sure that it either outside away

from where your cat is or somewhere high away where they can't get to

Thanks guys! I hope that you found these 5 Halloween safety tips useful please feel

free to share some in the comment section below as we always want our cats

to be the safest and happy as can be especially at the most magical time of

Book Boost: Access For All Challenge Summary - Duration: 2:53.

Learning to read is transformative and impacts a child's

lifelong opportunity to reach their full potential.

However, around 250 million children of primary school age

are unable to recognize basic

letters and numbers, even though half of them have spent

at least four years in school.

Despite the importance of books in boosting

foundational literacy skills, there is a global shortage of books

for children in many mother languages.

For the estimated 19 million children globally that are blind or

have low vision or the millions of children with other print disabilities,

the shortage of quality books in

accessible formats is even more severe.

Current technologies provide the potential for publishers to

produce books that are accessible and designed for

reading by everyone including those with

print disabilities, but these are not being leveraged at scale.

To drive innovation in the publishing space to solve for these gaps,

All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development (ACR GCD)

and Pearson's Project Literacy are launching

the Book Boost: Access for All Challenge

The challenge seeks business models that are rooted in optimizing

and increasing the number of accessible books in the

title development phase of the book value chain.

The competition partners believe solutions in title development

will improve the overall book value chain, resulting in a

more cost-efficient process. An efficient value chain will increase

the number of new, quality, accessible titles, available to

stakeholders involved in book distribution.

Join us in submitting your competition ideas

beginning 26 October 2017!

All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development

Book Boost: Access for All Challenge

a series of competitions that leverages science and technology

to source, test and disseminate scalable solutions to improve literacy

skills of early-grade learners in developing countries

Quick thoughts on... - Context is for Kings (Discovery episode 3) - review - Duration: 8:29.

Hello my beautiful watchers and welcome to another video from my series "Quick thoughts

on..." in which I talk briefly about the next episode

of Star Trek Discovery.

As I promised before, unlike my videos I do about episodes of Star

Trek, Star Trek The Next Generation and Star Trek

The Animated Series, my videos about Discovery will be much shorter and mostly spoiler-free.

Now this is episode 3, called, "Context is for Kings".

I wonder why I have pewdiepie flashbacks.

If you have seen my previous two videos I did about this series, which is available

on CBS All Access in the USA, on cable TV in Canada and on Netflix

everywhere else, you know that to say it politely I didn't like them.

Some people would say I hated them, but that's not very precise, I didn't have

ANY emotional reaction to anything from those episodes, except the Klingons.

I HATE what they have done with my favourite alien race.

This third episode is a huge improvement for me, because for the

first time I felt something really positive.

And it was in the first scene, where Michael and a few

other criminals are in a shuttle, without any specific details I can say just that the

process how they got to the Discovery was pretty interesting,

actually almost exciting.

But my positive reactions went down immediately after we moved to the Discovery.

First, let me talk a bit about the crew of the Discovery.

Short version - everybody is an asshole.

I thought "Three episodes in, and I haven't seen a character which I could

like.

That must be a record."

But that has changed today.

Yes, during the first episode we met Saru, who was kind of interesting, and during the

third episode we meet Cadet Tilly, who is actually the only

truly likeable character on the show so far.

There is a female security officer.

She's a bitch.

Really, how could people like her get to Starfleet?

We have seen different security officers on different shows, both male and female, both

black and white, but this is the first time I have met a security

officer who I honestly want to shout SHUT UP every time

she speaks.

The arrogance meter readings are out of scale with this one.

The good thing is we meet Saru again, he is this time the first officer of the Discovery.

But he's also a dick.

At least at the beginning, in the end of the episode it looks like he will become a bit

likeable.

Then there is Captain Lorca.

What can I say about him?

The actor said in an interview something like (I'm paraphrasing) "Captain Lorca is

a bit fucked up in the head".

I would not say it better myself.

Another character I can't like.

I have to talk a bit about the white guy.

He's a mushroom scientist or some shit, and he's the worst

actor I have seen in many, many years.

Every single time he tries to show a human emotion, his face

starts to do weird grimaces, and it looks like his face will literally explode.

When I've seen it for the first time I thought it was really funny,

but because he was doing it all the time, I started to feel

pretty bad, I mean I started to feel like I'm making fun of a mentally handicapped person.

Or is he an alien who pretends he is a human actor

and he desperately tries to mimic human emotions?

No clue.

Oh and why do they fill the screen with C++ code and pretend it's some scientific data?

But then there is Cadet Tilly.

And congratulations, writers, you managed to create a likeable character,

who actually feels and behaves like a human!

Hooray!

But don't get me wrong, the writing still sucks.

The worst bit is the dialogue, I mean we have the "privilege" to hear such brilliant lines

like "You are one of my best friends" "we know

each other since school", or "I didn't come here to make friends".

You know, cliché lines which only really bad writers use?

And there is one huge action sequence.

Oh yes, the action sequence.

I am sorry but I have to talk a bit about it, it was the funniest thing

I have seen in a long time.

I mean they rip off Alien.

Yes, they are on a spaceship, running through corridors and they are hunted by a monster,

and the monster is Pinky!

From Doom 3.

And my favourite scene so far, Michael on all 4 running through

a Jeffries tube, while being chased by Doom's Pinky demon,

and she's loudly reciting passages from I guess Alice in Wonderland.

I would really love to know what drugs are the writers on, because a sane

person could never write something like that.

I mean it was absolutely hilarious, but I have a feeling

it was supposed to be scary.

Overall, we have finally seen the Discovery and its crew, and I have finally seen a character,

which I actually like.

What a success, right?

I was laughing through most of the episode, even

through all of the death scenes.

But the problem is I think they were trying to create something

scary.

So the opening credits still suck, I'm not going to repeat it in every video, the writing

is horrible, the acting is in some cases OK,

in other cases horrible, but as I said, I watched the whole

thing without feeling the need to check my email, and I was laughing for like 95% of

the episode.

So, I would give this episode 5 / 10.

It's clearly an improvement, but I still can't understand how

the writers got their jobs.

So, that's all I'm going to say for this episode, if you enjoyed my brief

spoiler-less review feel free to hit that thumbs up button, if you like what I do on

this channel check my other videos, you should see some links

to some playlists on screen right now, and see you next monday

when I'll talk a bit about the next episode of Star Trek Discovery, or check this channel

later this week for my videos about the next episodes of Star

Trek and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Until then, thanks a lot for watching and bye.

A quick PS - I started to watch the Orville.

I LOVE the show.

Wish I could say that about Star Trek.
