Top 4 U.S. Cities For Growing a Business (Personal Experience) 🌇 - Duration: 3:56.

- Over the past two years,

I've lived in a lot of different cities,

maybe a couple dozen cities all around the world

and today I wanna talk about

how moving from different cities changes your outlook

and I wanna characterize a few cities,

go through some stuff that I've learned.

The main takeaway from this video

is that you can change your vibe by changing your city,

you can change your outlook

by changing the people that are around you

and you can get closer to your goals

by just moving locations.

First city I wanna talk about is New York.

It's the first place I moved to after college.

The reason why I moved to New York City

from Naples, Florida

is because I was emailing people in Naples

to try to get clients for my startup

and was receiving almost no responses.

I got a couple responses but almost nothing

and sometimes, in order to make something

happen in your life,

you have to move to the place where that thing is happening.

I wanted to be in startups.

So that meant I either had to be in San Francisco

or New York.

What I learned from New York

is there's a lot of networking events

and there's a lot of opportunities.

I was sending cold emails

from the day that I moved to New York.

I was in China for a month before that

and two weeks from the day that I moved there, I had a job.

That's how fast things move in the city.

It's no joke, the hustle in New York is real.

The only downside to New York for startups

versus somewhere like San Francisco

is because New York is cheaper than San Francisco

and it's also near all these other states

like people can drive in from Connecticut,

they can come in from New Jersey,

there's a lot more fake businesses

and a lot more fake startups at the networking events.

San Francisco on the other hand is pitch city.

The entire time I was there I was going to networking events

and selling and being sold to.

The opportunity in San Francisco

is about the same as the opportunity in New York

but what I found is because San Francisco

is such an expensive city,

there's a lot less fake startups there

and let me know in the comments

if you found different for San Francisco

but the quality of the businesses

especially if you're in SaaS

which I was back then is tremendous.

There there's Las Vegas

which is the city I moved to directly after New York

and Las Vegas so far has been one of the most helpful

startup cities and the reason why they do this

I think is because their startup culture is weak

and they know it but to give you an example

of how helpful Las Vegas is,

I had met 10 of the top entrepreneurs there

just by sending them emails, we met for coffee.

I ran into Vegas's biggest entrepreneur, Tony Hsieh

just chilling at a bar within the first couple days

in downtown Vegas and actually met Vegas's mayor

at a tech startup event.

So while the economic opportunity

isn't really there in Vegas,

the people there were incredibly helpful

and now I've been out in Los Angeles

for the last couple months

and the vibe here is completely different.

It kinda feels like a retirement home.

A lot of people are walking around

and I don't really know how people are making money.

In New York, when you meet somebody, you'll shake their hand

and the first question is what do you do?

In LA, almost nobody asks that question

and I think it's because there's so many people

that are fake actors or fake whatever

but they're actually waiters.

They don't actually make money and they're embarrassed by it

especially in the entertainment space

which is what we're digging into in this new company.

Also in LA, there's been a lot more meetings

with no outcomes.

In New York, almost every time you have a meeting

with somebody, there's some reason for the meeting

and there's some outcome like some output

whether it's a proposal or new business opportunity

or something.

In LA, I found that more people

are likely to take coffee meetings

just for the sake of getting out of the office.

Those are my top four cities.

If you're stuck out in the middle of the country

like I was out in Wichita for about six months

removed from everyone,

sometimes that's good to be completely isolated

'cause it lets you focus 100% on your business

but if you really wanna get things going,

every time I've been in a major city,

I've seen major jumps in the business.

3 Yoga Poses for Healthy Happy Hips! - Duration: 14:25.

Hello, I am Mariko with B-life.

Today, we are focusing on pelvis.

Pelvis plays an important role of linking upper and lower body

and it has connections with many muscles.

If the muscles are imbalanced under the influence of the person's habit,

the pelvis can be also imbalanced.

It leads not only postural distortions, but also headache, lower back pain, knee pain and so on.

So, today's yoga is for realigning muscles surrounding the pelvis.

We are practicing 3 poses.

Let's enjoy them together!

Extend both legs in front.

Hands are beside your hips.

Press your hands into the mat to lift your buttocks a little.

Then, place the sit bones vertically down to the mat.

Avoid rounding your spine, keep it nice and long.

Sit tall.

From here, bring right heel beside the right hip.

Flex the left foot, push forward with the sole of the foot.

Keep your spine long,

Walk your hands to front.

If you can grab the left foot, go ahead.

Fold forward.

If you feel tight, just look for the spot between stretch and efforts.

Left heel keeps pushing forward.

Feel the stretch in the calf and the back thigh.

If your body is ready, walk your hands to forward

forward fold.

Breathe slowly. Let's take 3 to 5 breaths.

Inhale deeply, lengthen your spine.

As you exhale, reach forward a bit more.

Slowly come back up.

Let's move on to 2nd pose.

Bend the left knee, place the sole of the foot to the right inner thigh.

Bring the right ankle on the left thigh.

Keep flexing both ankles.

Lift your hips once to shift your weight equally onto both sit bones.

If your hips or knees are tight, You could place your foot in front,

or change the position of the right heel on the left calf.

If it is fine, keep the right ankle stay on the left thigh.

Inhale, press into the floor with the sit bones.

Walk your hands forward.

Place them wider than the knees width.

Inhale, lengthen your spine,

Exhale, hinge forward from your hips.

Relax your upper body.

Send deep breath to out side of the buttocks.

Loosen the tightness and improve the imbalance of the muscles.

This pose is also effective for easing sciatica

Inhale, take a deep breath in.

Exhale, slowly.

Come back up.

Extend both legs, shake them side to side.

We've done 2 poses, let's do the opposite side.

Bring the feet together.

Place the hands beside the hips.

Place the sit bones vertically down to the mat.

Extend your spine nice and long.

Bring left heel beside the left hip.

Flex the right foot, push forward with the sole of the foot.

Keep your spine long,

Walk your hands to front.

Fold forward.

If you can grab the right foot, go ahead.

As you inhale, soften and expand your abs.

Exhale, deeply and completely.

Complete exhale will make the next inhale smoother and deeper.

Send your breath to the back of the right high to loosen the muscle.

Take 2 more breaths.

After a complete exhale,

Slowly come back up.

Let's move on to second pose.

Bend the right knee, place the sole of the foot to the left inner thigh.

Bring the left ankle on the right thigh.

Keep flexing both ankles.

If you feel tight,

You could place your foot in front,

or change the position of the left heel on the right calf.

Find the right position for yourself.

Make sure your weight is equally shifted onto both sit bones.

Inhale, lengthen your spine.

Walk your hands forward.

Place them wider than the knees width.

Inhale, open your chest.

Exhale, hinge forward from your hips.

Take deep, relaxing breaths

Feel deep stretch in the buttocks' muscle.

Loosen the tightness and improve the imbalance of the muscles.

Inhale, take a deep breath in.

Exhale, completely.

When you are ready, slowly come back up.

Uncross the legs and shake them.

Relax your hips and knees.

The third pose is lizard.

Begin with table top position.

Hands are just under the shoulders.

Knees are under the hips and hip distance width.

Bring the right foot out side of the right hand.

Lengthen your spine.

Tuck your left toe.

You could move the left knee backward, for better stretch.

Bring your chest up and open.

If you want to go next level, place the forearms to the mat.

Imagine drawing the right knee toward the right shoulder.

Stay center. Not to lean to the right side.

To go deeper, lift the left knee higher and push the left heel back.

Your core is parallel with the floor.

Imagine a lizard is crawling the ground.

Increase the flexibility of hip joints.

This pose also strengthen the core.

Don't forget to breaths.

Inhale deeply through your nose.

Exhale, completely.

Inhale, push the left heel back.

One more inhale.

Exhale.

After completing exhalation, lower the left knee,

Right foot back and rest in the child pose.

Here, release any tensions, relax.

OK, let's do the opposite side.

From the table top position.

Hands are just under the shoulders.

Knees are hip distance apart.

Bring the left foot out side of the left hand.

Move the right knee backward for better hip joint stretch.

If you want to go next level, place the forearms to the mat.

Bring your chest up and open.

Shoulders are away from the ears.

Drawing the left knee toward the left shoulder.

To go deeper, tuck the right toe, lift the right knee higher and push the right heel back.

Here, don't forget breathing.

Keep your spine nice and long.

Your core is steady.

Increase the flexibility of hip joints.

Inhale deeply through your nose.

Exhale completely.

If you feel tight, you can keep your knee stay on the mat.

Or instead of forearms, you can still stretch hip joint by keeping your hands on the mat.

Choose whichever you like.

Those are the 3 yoga poses to relieve tensions around your buttock muscles.

How was it?

For those of you who feel your body imbalanced,

I would suggest that you continue practicing these poses,

so that your body would be back into alignment.

Today, we are focusing on shoulder blade!

I am introducing poses for relieving tensions of shoulder blade area.

By practicing them, you could also loosen up your shoulders and back muscles,

which also tend to be tight in a chilly, wintertime in particular.

Let fs enjoy the practice and the most importantly, feel good together!

Let fs start with comfortable seated position.

You could sit in a cross-legged or sit on your heels.

Put your hands beside your neck and bring elbows down.

Lengthen your spine nice and long

Exhale, lean your head to the right.

Feel the stretch along the left side of your neck.

Exhale, back to center..

Lean to opposite side until you can feel a nice stretch.

Slowly draw a half circle with your neck from the bottom.

Draw a half circle from the bottom to the left.

Repeat

Gently stimulate your neck.

Slowly draw a full circle.

Move your neck at your feeling good pace.

Let's circle to opposite direction.

After drawing 2 circles, bring your face in front.

Move your hands to the shoulders.

Inhale, circle your elbows up from front

Exhale, down to the back.

Inhale, lift your elbows up and open.

Exhale, drop your elbows down and close.

Relieve tensions around the shoulders to allow shoulder blades easier to move.

Let's do the opposite direction.

Inhale, lift your elbows up from the back.

Exhale, drop the elbows down to the front.

Bring your attention to the shoulder blades as you move elbows.

Feel the connection between shoulder blades and shoulders.

Open your palms, bring them down and side to side, face them up.

Draw both elbows towards the back. Squeeze the shoulder blades.

Imagine you are holding something in between the shoulder blades.

Hold 5 seconds.

Exhale, release and relax.

Once again, palms facing up and draw elbows to the back.

Squeeze the shoulder blades and hold.

Relax.

Inhale, arms over head.

Cross the arms, palms together and extend it to the ceiling.

With your exhale, slowly lean to the right.

Feel the stretch along the left side of ribs.

Back to center, lean to the opposite side.

Back to center.

Press the sit bones and lengthen your spine.

As you exhale, slowly circle your elbows down and squeeze your shoulder blades.

Relax.

Extend legs in front.

Bring the left heel to center.

Extend your right leg to the side.

Right hand outside of the right leg,

Left hand is reaching outside of the right pinky toe. Fold forward.

For those who feels tight, it fs ok to put your hand inside of the right leg.

First, we are going to release the tensions of out side of your lower back.

Your stretching part can be different depend on where you put your left hand,

Find your feel good position by moving your hand.

Don't worry about how deep you are reaching,

As long as you feel the good stretch in your lower back, that is enough.

That is what we are trying to achieve in this pose.

When your lower back begins to loosen, try to extend your arms more from the left shoulder blade.

Reach your left arm a bit more.

Release any tensions in the lower back and around the shoulder blades with your each inhale and exhale.

When you feel you have stretched enough in that position, move your left hand and relax the different part.

With the next inhale, release the left hand and come back up.

Bring your belly button facing front.

Now, put your hands in front slightly wider than your shoulder width.

Slide the right hand to the side.

Bend left elbow.

Slowly reach right shoulder down to the floor.

If you are comfortable, you could place the shoulder on the floor.

Stretch the front side of right shoulder.

If your hips are tight, lift the upper body up.

Bend both elbows. Lower the right shoulder down toward the floor.

Slowly release any tensions around the right shoulder.

Open your left chest toward the sky.

With the next inhale, slowly come back to sitting position.

Right leg back to cross-legged position.

Bend left elbow in front.

Wrap the left arm with the right arm.

You could put the back of your hands together,

or if you want to go deeper, cross the hands to put palms together.

Inhale, raise the elbows up to the sky.

Let's draw a circle with elbows.

Exhale, move both elbows to the right

Slowly draw both elbows toward the belly button.

Move to left

From the top draw a big circle with your elbows.

Now, we are focusing on the left shoulder,

So, let's draw an ellipse which the right side is large.

Notice opening the left shoulder blade as you move the elbows to the right.

Let's do 5 more.

Come back to center.

Inhale, lift your elbows up above your shoulders.

As you exhale, send fresh air to the back and open the shoulder blades

OK

Interlace the fingers behind your back.

Pull your hands back,

Open the front side of your shoulders

and squeeze the shoulder blade.

Switch side.

Extend your left leg to the side.

Bring the right heel to center.

Sit nice and tall

Right hand outside of the right leg,

Left hand is reaching outside of the left pinky toe. Slowly fold forward.

For those who feels tight, it fs ok to put your hand inside of the left leg.

First, we are going to release the tensions of out side of your right lower back.

If you are always standing or sitting in your daily life,

It makes your lower back muscle stiff or tight.

It tends to have accumulated fatigue.

Let's release the tightness of the lower back muscle.

Simultaneously, notice the stiffness of your upper back muscle is also loosened.

Depend on where you put your right hand, the stretching part can be different

Find your feel good position by moving your hand.

Take 2 more breath.

Slowly come back up.

Bring your belly button facing front.

Place your hands in front slightly wider than your shoulder width.

Bend right elbow.

Slide the left hand to the side.

Slowly reach left shoulder and chest down to the floor.

Open your right chest toward the sky.

If your hips are tight, lift the upper body up.

Bend both elbows. Lower the left shoulder toward the floor.

Choose whichever you like.

If you want to feel deep stretch, you could bend left elbow up.

With the next inhale, slowly come back to sitting position.

Left leg back to cross-legged position.

Bend right elbow in front.

Wrap the right arm with the left arm.

Inhale, raise the elbows up to the sky.

Let's draw a circle with elbows.

Exhale, move both elbows to the left

Slowly draw both elbows toward the belly button.

Move to right,

From the top draw a big circle with your elbows.

Now, we are focusing on the right shoulder,

So, let's draw an ellipse which the left side is large.

Notice opening the right shoulder blade as you move the elbows to the left.

Come back to center.

Inhale, lift your elbows up above your shoulders.

Take a deep inhale, open the shoulder blades.

This is a great pose for healing shoulder pain.

Uncross the hands, interlace them behind your back.

Pull your hands back,

Squeeze the shoulder blade.

Open the front side of your shoulders

Release and relax your hands.

Interlace your hands behind your head,

Inhale, lean your head back by supporting with your hands.

Use the weight of your head.

Inhale, open wide your arms and chest,

Exhale, with your mouth, relax

Inhale, open wide your arms and chest,

Exhale

Bring your head back to center.

Final pose, bring your sole of the feet together.

We are softening hip joints in order to prevent the tendency to round our spine.

Now, hold your feet.

Inhale, lengthen your spine.

Exhale, fold forward from your hips.

You are welcome to extend your arms in front.

Sink deeper.

Exhale, release any tensions.

Relax your hips, just let it go.

Relax your lower back then, upper back.

This is also effective for realigning the imbalance of pelvis and hip muscles.

When your hips are relaxed enough, you could walk your hands forward.

Take 2 more breath here.

After deep exhale, come back up.

McDonald's Issues New Chicken Welfare Standards For Suppliers - Duration: 2:30.

Recently, McDonald's announced eight commitments to source chickens raised with improved welfare

across the globe.

The move requires suppliers to follow new standards for raising and slaughtering chickens

served in its restaurants.

The guidelines apply to all of its chicken suppliers, and promote welfare standards like

access to perches, clean coops, and pen-to-plate monitoring to make sure that birds aren't

injured during their growth.

Over the years, animal rights groups, including PETA have protested fast food chains like

KFC, Chick-Fil-A, Burger King, Wendy's, and McDonald's to advocate for

more humane treatment of chickens raised for food.

By requiring suppliers to follow the new standards, McDonald's is acknowledging the political

views of at least some of their consumers, and attempting to make their brand more appealing.

Bruce Feinberg, a senior Director for McDonald's said that the move "might help certain segments

of our customer base make purchasing decisions that they might not have otherwise made."

The new standards are more than simply an attempt to grow sales, however.

As the Managing Director of a company that helps organizations to unlock the power of

procurement, I often help organizations to use their procurement process to advance corporate

social responsibility goals.

And, indeed, a McDonald's statement on the new regulations says that "As one of the

world's largest food companies, we aim to use our scale as an opportunity to achieve

impactful change on key societal issues, and we will continue to collaborate with our suppliers,

franchisees and employees to achieve real impact."

Of course, making policy changes in an organization the size of McDonald's takes some time – and

the restaurant has given its suppliers until 2024 to implement the required changes.

And so it will be interesting to see how these commitments grow and evolve over the coming

years.

Yet, I salute McDonald's in their use of their massive purchasing power and supply

chain to effect social change on an issue that's important to them.

But I'm also curious to hear your views.

Today, we are practicing yoga for tired legs.

We are going to relieve swollen legs by activating lymph flow.

This yoga is also good for leaning legs.

Let's do it together!

OK, let's start. Bring the soles of your feet together.

Grab your feet. Lengthen your spine.

Inhale,

Exhale, fold forward from your hips.

You could put your hands in front, or keep grabbing the feet.

Release the tension around the hips, relax.

Breath slowly.

As you exhale, relax your upper body.

Loosen the tightness around the knees, shoulders and hips.

As you exhale, gradually release the excessive tensions around your hips.

This helps to improve digestive function.

If your hips are enough soften, you could walk your hands further.

Observe and ask your body.

Inhale,

Exhale.

Slowly come back up.

Raise the right knee, extend the left leg in front.

Press the sit bones into the floor to tuck your pelvis.

Raise the right foot, hold the thigh or thin with hands or grab the sole of the foot.

Keep your spine nice and long.

Open your chest.

Avoid pelvis leaning backward,

Press both sit bones to tuck your pelvis.

Adjust the position of your hands to keep the posture.

If your legs are swollen, your lower back muscles are also tired.

Ease the tightness of that area.

Slowly come back up.

Extend the right leg,

Raise the left knee, hold it.

Press both sit bones to tuck your pelvis.

Hands are holding the thigh, or calf or sole of the foot.

Pushing the ceiling with left sole of the foot.

As you stretch, find out nice stretching spot.

This pose helps to realign the position of the hips.

Other than releasing the swollen leg, this improves the digestive function.

Draw bigger circle as much as you can.

Notice the tightness around hips are getting softer.

Reverse the circle.

Hug the left knee, bring it to the chest.

Again, draw the left knee under the armpit.

Face the sole of your feet to the ceiling.

Grab the feet from the outer edge.

Point the right toe.

Press the right hip with the right hand to prevent left buttocks from coming up.

Relax your hips, ease the stiffness.

Bring both knees to the chest

Left foot to the mat.

Put right ankle on the left knee, Slide the leg up and down to massage the calf.

This massage helps to stimulate the flow of lymph.

Slide gently from the ankle to the calf to improve the lymph flow.

You could massage the inner calf to relieve the stiffness.

It depends on the person, but some of you might have tightness on the outer calf.

Massage the outer calf as well.

Find the feel good spot by changing the angle of your leg.

Switch side.

For those of you who have bowed legs,

you might have stiffness in outer calf muscle.

Massage it and heal the tiredness.

Bring both legs up.

Let's improve the flow of blood and lymph, which tends to be pooled in the lower body.

Push the ceiling with the sole of the feet.

Push with the heels.

Stretch the outer calves and thighs,

Relax the toes and turn ankles.

Again, push the ceiling with the feet.

Stay in this pose. Keep breathing.

If it is hard to keep lifting the leg, you could use the wall for support.

In fact, that is more relaxing.

Now, shake your legs and hands to release.

Give gentle kick to both legs.

Hug your knees to the chest, relax.

Well good morning good morning again from Vienna (Wien).

It is a Monday morning and it is actually our last day in this beautiful city.

It is not even our last day.

It is our last hours.

Last hours.

We're going to be leaving in just a few hours to Bratislava but yeah.

Yeah, we thought we'd show you take you guys to a more local cafe.

We kind of showed you what a fancy and famous one looks like but we haven't taken you into

a local one so we're going to do that today.

Correction.

It is actually Sunday.

Haha.

We were wondering why it is so quiet.

How could it be so quiet it is like no one woke up to go to work today.

Haha.

Sunday guys.

So now the question is will our coffee shop be open on a Sunday?

Are you feeling confident?

I have no idea.

It is pretty quiet and the thing is like when we get the day wrong we are always researching

the hours for that day we were assuming it so we didn't check for Sunday at all.

I don't know.

It is going to be a surprise.

So we have made it to the cafe and thankfully it was open and it is a good thing because

I was feeling pretty hangry.

Like this is breakfast happening right here.

So the place is called Aida and it has been around since 1913 so my goodness over a 100

years.

I imagine they've had plenty of time to perfect their pastries, their coffees, their cakes.

So for my drink I got the Aida Melange so this is an espresso with steamed milk and

whipped cream that I have since you know mixed into the cup.

Exactly.

And I also ordered that too.

Haha.

Mmmm.

It just sounded so good.

That is quite nice.

Oh, and have I mentioned everything here is pink.

And it is described as a dark sponge filled with the finest nougat and pistachio marzipan

encased in a light chocolate fondant icing.

That sounds pretty good.

way for us to end our time in Vienna (Wien) and now we're off to Bratislava.

so once you go to your channel which is I'm just going to go to my creator

studio when you go to your creator studio and then you go here and then you

ranking a number 15 for how to block YouTube channels and if I switch that up

I'll get I'll be in the number 15 position of the YouTube search for how

times but for now it's ranking at number 15 and I'll show you with all tags and

if you don't see a green number on next to your tag so that means the tag or

that phrase isn't ranking for any search term for your video and after you scroll

it down a little bit you'll see the tag tools and in the tags tools you see

suggest and here and suggest you can see all the suggestions that tubebuddy gives

you for search and related now search means how you can optimize for youtube

search and as you can see the eye icon says that the views received from the

search term in YouTube and the tags is the top similar top ranking videos that

are using these tags and you can just click this plus icon to add that tag to

your video and as you can see this or the search so just that for graded tags

so you could come up in the suggestion bar for your related videos now as you

can see it says how to disable you how did the sable just a bit more on

YouTube but this video is not about how to disable use restricted mode on

YouTube it's about how to block YouTube channels so you gotta be really logical

feature and I'm just gonna click on create thumbnail and here you could

select the background image or still frame from your video and then once you

have done that you could select the layers you want to put so I'm just gonna

take for example I'm gonna select um I'm gonna select this frame okay so I'm

gonna select this point and I'm gonna press on continue I'm just going to

giving you a quick rundown you can add shapes to it I want to add

this shape so I'm seeing sort of that and then add and here you could drag it

it's really good you need to like you know spend time obviously to make these

within YouTube and you could press continue to make that thumbnail as your

public custom coming up but I'm not gonna do that because you know something

life already have is much better than that one and if you spend more time on

that great thumbnail generator option on the - body I will guarantee we'll get

more views because you will have a custom thumbnail that would attract

people now the feature and the power tip I was talking about is when you go into

video manager so I'm just gonna go into video manager now this

– thousands of jobs

– renegotiating trade deals

– and businesses are more optimistic than ever before.

[news compilation] The front line of climate change and sea level rise,

a place where the coast is washing away at an amazing rate.

Rising water could swallow more land if nothing is done to address damage caused by

climate change and commercial activity.

Louisianans say it's time to stop talking about the

problem and actually start doing something about it.

Narrator: Southern Louisiana has lost on average a football field of land every hour

between 1932 and 2010. And sea level rise isn't letting up anytime soon.

But as wetlands are disappearing, so is an industry that's vital to the bayou's way of life.

At one time in this community, if you didn't work in the oil field, you worked in the shrimp industry.

Yeah, go ahead and run it.

For generations, David Chauvin's family made a good living catching shrimp.

Right out of high school, I was a commercial fisherman.

This is more than something that you do for a living.

It's a heritage. This is a culture.

But over time, David and his wife, Kim, have seen that culture threatened.

When Iook around here, I see a lot of change.

When we have high abundance of imports, that just depresses the price.

What I think is the No. 1 thing that has changed this industry?

Imports.

Kim and David say everything changed for their community around 2000

after then-President Bill Clinton signed the China trade bill into effect.

This bill slashed Chinese tariffs on a wide range of farm and industrial products coming into the U.S.

Imported shrimp could now be priced significantly lower

than those of U.S. domestic shrimpers.

As a result, Louisiana shrimping communities took a hit.

There were so many people that lost everything, from boats, to houses,

vehicles, jobs, everything.

It was more important to import shrimp into this country for people to make a

quick buck than it was to keep somebody that provides so much in this community.

I mean, we came in on a 70 – 70-footer with a boatload of shrimp

and made nothing to the crew share that year.

And my husband said, "No, no, no. Something's wrong with this picture."

It was only because of the resiliency of the people

that live here that we were able to still keep going.

[on phone] Yeah, what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna call and get some current prices

and base my selling price on that.

No, I'm glad you put that bug in my ear. Well, I thought Trump bailed out of the Paris agreement.

I thought – I figured they would have gone the opposite way.

Narrator: Now, Kim and David hold out hope for their industry.

Hey, write him a check for this, sweetie.

They lobby in Washington, D.C., every year for a border tax on imports,

the appointment of a seafood trade negotiator and other demands.

This year, they say things felt different under the Trump administration.

There was a lot of hope when we went because of his "America First" part.

Donald Trump: From now on, it's going to be

America first.

[montage] America first, America will be first again.

It's kind of changed our way

of thinking that we're doomed.

While there's hope that Trump's trade policies

will revive coastal Louisiana communities, the Trump administration has

also proposed devastating rollbacks to Louisiana coastal protections.

East of Kim and David's seafood company is Montegut, Louisiana,

where community members have gathered to discuss another issue that's threatening the bayous:

coastal erosion.

We want to have a conversation, and that conversation is

centered around what you all believe is the future of your – your community, your

parish and your state as a whole.

If you know of issues where there is regular flooding,

put a purple circle on that.

All these bays and lakes and everything, they're all gone.

Their names are gone. They pulled them off the maps 'cause they no longer exist.

I hate to say it, but that's what I see for us in 50 years.

If they start flooding more times, all these people are going to move out of here.

You know, and then you lose the Cajun heritage, you lose our way of life, you lose the shrimping industry,

you lose the oyster and the crab.

It's just depleting so fast that where – where we at, and where he's living, it's gonna be gone.

I don't feel hopeless, but I don't feel hopeful.

The Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act would have

helped to combat coastal erosion.

Signed into law by former President George W. Bush in 2006,

the law shared offshore oil and gas revenue across the Gulf states.

It provided Louisiana with up to a $140 million a year

for coastal restoration projects.

But the Trump administration's proposed budget

repeals the act and strips Louisiana of funding that would have gone toward

saving the state's sinking coastline.

I see the lake creeping in to some people's backyards. That's a little scary

because I don't know what it's gonna be for my grandchildren. Twenty, 30 years

from now, I hope and pray – I would think that there's still going to be an industry.

Yeah, tell her – tell [unintelligable] put more ice next time.

We are a forgotten part of the country.

If the United States could recognize how vital south Louisiana is to the nation, we would be better off for it.
