Waching daily Oct 31 2017

(tranquil music)

Time runs forward,

and Lupin scarcely misses a step

of our intricate training dance.

Lupin is currently two pounds, ten ounces.

You know, she's responding really well to that weight.

She's very, very attentive, she's feeding on

the fist, she's completely in the right zone.

(tranquil music)

(scissors snip)

Before a hawk flies free,

a falconry bell the size and shape of an acorn

is fixed onto its topmost pair of tail feathers,

next to a tiny radio transmitter mount.

These help us find the hawk

if it flies out of sight.

(bell jingles)

Right, sweetie.

I know you're a bit noisy now, but.

First, though,

I fly Lupin on a long line of braided cotton

called a creance.

It is both a literal line of attachment

and something more than material reassurance.

(Helen whistles)

(bell jingles)

(orchestral music)

That went brilliantly.

She's in a ferociously good mood right now.

And so am I.

I mean, I sorta think she's ready to fly free.

There was no hesitation there,

she didn't try and veer off.

She just, in fact at one point

she was so desperate to come,

she didn't let me walk away.

So, she completely trusts me,

she wants to come to me for food.

She isn't thinking about flying away.

I think we're there.

Is there scientific evidence for low carb? - Duration: 4:39.

Many of you watching will be wondering whether this is an evidence-based approach,

a very reasonable question.

The good news is there is a pile of evidence for the low-carb approach

and it's growing really on almost a daily basis.

But before I come to that it's perhaps worthwhile remembering

that before the drugs for type 2 diabetes,

a low-carb approach was the accepted way to treat diabetes,

there was nothing else.

So that was going on for decades, was perfectly accepted

and exists in the medical textbooks around the 1920s and 1930s.

Coming back now to some of the evidence we've got now,

I'm aware of well over 40 to maybe 50 now RCTs on this,

there are meta-analyses as well

and these are going to be lumped together

and it will be a link that will appear below the videos,

so that you can access this evidence and have a look for yourself.

What's really good news now

is the UK guidelines for doctors particularly mention

that we should be advising low-glycemic index carbohydrates

for our patients with type 2 diabetes.

Thinking about that, there is only one way to interpret advice

about low glycemic index source of carbohydrate,

that has to be a low-carb diet, really.

And that exploring that is perfectly safe and I think reasonable.

And that's what we'll be doing later on in the series.

Just even as a basic approach, the idea of cutting sugar,

which is how I would always begin with a low-carb diet,

cutting table sugar,

I think is completely reasonable for somebody with obesity and type 2 diabetes

and a very safe first step.

And you can start with that if you're nervous,

but I'd advise you have a look at the evidence and judge for yourself.

But I think there is enough evidence for us to use this approach.

So speaking personally, it's interesting for me to look back over the last five years

and think about how few problems I've actually had.

The problems I have had

have mainly been to do with the advantages of the low-carb approach.

So yes, blood pressures have improved

and people felt perhaps dizzy when they first stood up,

because they were already on pre-existing medication.

I don't actually see that as a problem,

because of course I've cut the blood pressure medication.

I've encouraged patients to have their own blood pressure machines

so that I knew about that there's a problem.

Another group might be people who are on pre-existing drugs for diabetes,

which I'm keen to cut if that's what the patient wants to do.

Again if they're measuring their blood sugar, I know about those problems.

I've had a number of patients who started with muscle cramps.

In fact I get them personally, because I'm a runner.

Now the muscle cramp thing generally means you need more salt.

That's easily done.

So I talk about that in advance.

So the patients are not surprised if they get muscle cramps.

They go, "Oh, yes, Dr. Unwin told me about that and I just need to have salt."

So I mentioned that quite commonly.

Sometimes constipation has been a slight problem,

but really given that I'm encouraging the patients to have a lot more green veg,

I don't think that is something that's a great worry.

I'm still surprised really by how few patients have a problem

and when we think internationally

there must be well over, I don't know, half a million people doing this at least.

And what's interesting is that beyond them

are thousands of doctors doing this low-carb approach.

And that gives me confidence really, because it's growing all the time.

I'm in personal contact with 250 doctors using the approach in the UK alone

and that number is growing day by day.

Mike Huckabee Drops A Huge WARNING For America Obama Is FURIOUS Over What Is Revealed(VIDEO)!! - Duration: 3:02.

Mike Huckabee Drops A Huge WARNING For America Obama Is FURIOUS Over What Is Revealed

so joining us to shed some light on what this really means is Governor Mike

Huckabee governor welcome good to see you tonight

I mean thank you Marlo swaggin settles and you know and all the people who were

mistreated by the banks we heard so much about it and I would didn't you just

assume that the money was going to the people who got hurt in those

transactions and it's unbelievable yeah this is it is unbelievable somebody

ought to go to prison for this I mean this is worse than a mafia shakedown

because at least if the Mafia shakes you down for protection your store doesn't

burn down but this is a case where the Liberals have played Robin Hood they've

stolen from the government the taxpayers and they've given it to their pals it's

really outrageous and I think that part of it that is so frustrating imagine for

example if under a Republican Department of Justice the Department of Justice had

allocated money to the National Right to Life or if they'd allocated it to the

NRA can you imagine how that would have gone over with the Democrats I don't

think very well you know senator Lankford of Oklahoma and House Judiciary

Chairman Bob Goodlatte are behind this stop settlement slush fund Act of 2017 I

mean this is what we talk about when you talk about draining the swamp right I

mean this this is this is pretty murky swamp here well it's real murky swamp

and the sad thing is it's taxpayer money money that should have gone either to

the customers of an organization fund keep in mind how simple this is you're a

bank you get fined well instead of paying the full fine to the government

of the Treasury Department are giving it back to your customers you instead make

a donation to some liberal group now look Martha I don't care if the donation

is to a liberal or conservative group this violates the Constitution because

only Congress can appropriate money this is outrageous

yeah and you know when you look at the protection of the system in in DC and

they looked into it that both the Government Accountability Office and the

Congressional Research Service concluded that the settlement settlement

agreements did not violate Congress's power of the purse so you know they sort

of circled the wagons on this right well sure there

protecting each other but I think any simple reading of the Constitution says

that you don't have bureaucrats who can just create money out of thin air that

doesn't have an appropriation from Congress Congress has the power of the

purse if it's not an appropriation I don't care if it's in the state of the

federal level the executive branch can't just go out and say we'd like to spend

some money doesn't matter whether Congress has approved it we're gonna

spend it cuz we want to it doesn't work out I mean how about paying a little bit

of that down with the money but it has to be dispersed to different

originations are unbelievable governor Huckabee it's always a pleasure to see

you thank you very much Thank You Martha

How to Draw An Octopus | Drawing Lesson for Kids | Step By Step - Duration: 5:10.

Hey everyone Welcome to Super Simple Draw

Make sure you have something to draw with and some paper

And don't forget that you can pause the video if you need more time

Let's draw an octopus

Start with a big circle for his head

And two little dots for his eyes so he can see

Draw another circle

With a circle inside for his mouth

Do you know how many tentacles an octopus has?

That's right, eight!

One...

Two...

Three...

Four...

Five...

Six...

Seven...

And eight

Did you know that tentacles have little suction cups on them?

Let's draw some

They're little half circles like this

And they allow the octopus to grab onto things

Like this soccer ball

An octopus can be almost any color

How about red?

And pink along the suction cups and for her mouth

And white for the suction cups

Or, our octopus could be white

With blue along the suction cups

And aqua-green lips

With stripes for camouflage to help him hide

Our octopus will be blue

An octopus loves to swim

Look at him go!

Oh, look!

A fish

It looks like the fish wants to be friends

But this octopus doesn't like fish very much

Be careful, little fish

Oh...poor little fish

Thanks for drawing with me

See you next time

EAirwheel Electronic Chairs for for people with disabilities - Duration: 3:48.

hello, friends! no, it did not strike you

I did not fall from an electric unicycle or segway,

it`s a new product of the company Airwheel -

model Airwheel A6.

There is a chair,

which is controlled by the balance of the body.

I move the body forward and backward.

Rotate with the joystick

right and left.

The weight of this device is 46 kilograms.

backrest can be folded

for convenient transportation.

For the first time it `s unusual that the model is not controlled by a joystick,

but with a slope. This is due to the fact that the chair

is based on the well-known Segway Airwheel S3.

The maximum speed of the chair is from 6 to 9 km / h.

and the power reserve of the manufacturer indicates not in kilometers,

and in time - up to three hours.

what else I want to tell about this chair?

the size of the wheels is 14 inches,

there is a manual brake,

From the left side.

if you need to pull the handle back,

push it and now you go.

there is an on / off button on the seat,

which is located on the opposite side.

you turn the device on and off With this button.

my first sensation:

I'l I did not test the chairs for the disabled before,

and I like how the chair rides,

although this may be slightly unusual for

people with disabilities.

but quite sensitive joysticks

and the chair moves well,

Although the slope of the hull is a peculiar solution

and I dont know will it gain popularity in Russia.

what else can I say: for riders,

which failed unsuccessfully,

this Airwheel chair will be interesting.

Also on the joystick is an information display,

showing the level of battery power and speed of the chair.

guys, take care of yourself

and if suddenly you are in a difficult situation,

then buy an Airwheel chair.

you did not seem,

I'm testing another electric vehicle,

new armchair for people with disabilities

Airwheel H8.

it can accelerate to 6 km / h.

can withstand weight up to 130 kg,

the power of the motors, which are used in gyroscope -

350 watts.

Airwheel chair can be folded

and it is convenient to carry.

weight of the chair - Airwheel - 27 kg.

under me is a handy bag,

for storing things

during transportation.

The Airwheel chair has several speed modes,

which are regulated on the dashboard,

and a convenient joystick control.

the only difference -

the joystick responds with a delay of 1 second,

so all movements you should do fairly smoothly.

now I turned on the maximum harsh mode,

this chair are able to deploy me,

if my weight is since 100 kg.

in more smooth modes

chair is not able to move me from the spot and turn when turning.

in maximum mode, as you can see, there are no problems.

friends, be careful on the roads,

we all love you, bye!

More than 400 nomads gather in Oregon for their own 'town' - Duration: 5:20.

Life on the road: More than 400 nomads live out of tiny vans after rejecting the 'American Dream' form their own 'town' in Oregon

More than 400 nomads came together this month for one of Americas largest vanlife gatherings.

Incredible images of Descend on Bend in Oregon show a huge array of vans and mobile homes parked up for the annual gathering.

The event featured potluck sharing dinners, scavenger hunts, a fundraising breakfast, yoga, and live music.

At night the nomads gathered around a campfire where they sang songs and chatted into the early hours.

It is estimated that more than six million Americans - 1.

8 per cent of the population - live life on the road.

Breanne Acio, 30, from California, attended with her wife Lacey Mayer, 28.

She said: There are over six million people in the United States living in non-traditional housing (i.

, RVs, vans, and boats), not including tiny houses,.

However, this is how many people report their non-traditional residences.

The actual number is estimated to be millions more.

Because of the stigma, most people dont realize what a common lifestyle this is and people dont often share it freely.

Gatherings help you to realise that there is a community out there.

There are only two or three large annual vanlife gatherings in the United States.

People travel from long distances to go to them.

Sometimes, this lifestyle can be lonely because the community is so spread out; plus, the lifestyle is often stigmatised.

Gatherings give people an opportunity to connect with community, collaborate, and learn from others who are living an alternative lifestyle. .

Breanne explained the reason so many people are turning to this way of life and rejecting societal norms.

Many people in this movement feel disenfranchised by a system with declining wages and increasing costs of living, she added.

The American Dream of owning a home, having a secure job that pays well, and having time for family and friends, doesnt seem like a possibility to many people in our generation.

So, people are pursuing happiness and a lifestyle that allows for more time to pursue the things they love.

Unfortunately, in America, and many other societies, our economic system has smothered our unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, with the pursuit of monetary survival.

Vanlife, minimalism, and the tiny house movements are primarily comprised of people trying to carve out their own, alternative path, and to regain these rights.

Gatherings are important because they allow you to meet and collaborate with people who are changing the dominant narrative.

Breanne and Lacey have started to host bi-monthly gatherings in San Diego, although these events only last for a day rather than a weekend.

Our first one was in September and we had over 50 vans throughout the day, Breanne said.

The next one is November 4th, and our meet-up page has over 200 members, just in San Diego.

We plan to have workshops on building and collaborations on making a living digitally.

We also started an Instagram account, @vanlifegatherings, to help people share and find more events and places to connect.

What I Wore ~ Dressing For The Weather Not The Season ~ Ep. 21 - Duration: 5:29.

[Audio Length: 0:05:28] RECORDING COMMENCES:

Rajka Hayden: It's a brand-new week full of outfit possibilities.

Let's see what I choose.

Even though we are in the middle of fall, it is literally like summer here in southern

California.

If I didn't have a calendar, I would swear its summer, but it's beautiful, I'm not

at all complaining.

I am dressing for the weather, not for the season.

I still have one my vintage Hawaiian dress, again in the middle of the fall.

It is one that I picked up at Bad Madge & Company here in San Diego.

I altered it quite a bit, I had it tapered a little bit and I brought it up quite a bit,

it was almost to the ground, I make it short.

I'm pairing it for work today with this nice little vintage green leather belt that's

exactly the right color.

I do love the back of this dress, it has some nice detailing in the back which I think makes

it unique.

Then keeping with my summer Hawaiian theme, I have on these handmade sandals that I picked

up from Island Sandals in Maui.

So, heading off to work on this fall day in this.

It's still hot, so I am again dressing for the weather.

As much as I would love to get out my fall things right now, it just doesn't make sense.

I've got on this little vintage dress that I picked up at Bad Madge & Company.

It has a little sparkle to it.

I think it's just really lovely.

I've had it fitting perfectly for me by Donna.

Look at the back, it has some lace here, just a really nice detail and it feels really comfortable

and good I have a little blazer I'll wear over it to work if it gets colder.

I have on this ruby cross necklace that I got from my grandparents for my 16th birthday.

I love that and I wear it and think of them.

Then, finally these Rothy's shoes, which are just so comfortable, they're like wearing

slippers.

They're sustainable, they're made out of all sustainable materials and I think they

just add a little bit to this outfit.

Off to work.

Today I am wearing my LuLaRoe dress that I got from Katlyn Morin, my niece and I really

like it.

It's a super basic dress, but it has this hemline that's sort of graduated that gives

it a little bit on fun.

I also like that I can style it a bunch of different ways, so every time I wear it, I

do something a little different with it.

For example, today, I'm keeping it a little basic with these fun Moroccan slippers that

I just picked up from Artemis Designs.

So very comfy and yet stylish.

Then I have my corset belt from Love Strength here that I think cinches it nicely.

Then this very old pearl choker that I have.

So, kind of black and white and grey, but I think it's a little bit fun for today.

Today I am featuring one of the work horses of my wardrobe, which is this little black

St. John knit skirt.

This thing, I mean, I've had it forever.

These St. John knits, you invest in a nice basic piece like this, you'll have it for

life.

I actually got this one at the company store, so it wasn't even that expensive.

But, it just goes with everything, I can dress it up or down, it feels great, it keeps its

shape, I even hand wash this and it's fine.

So, today I have it paired with this little Kit & Ace, just a little tank.

And, then this fun sweater that has a little bit of sparkle.

This is vintage, it's a knit, it has some nice sequinning on it, just to give it a little

bit of sparkle and fun.

I got this at Bad Madge here in San Diego.

This animal print scarf, scarves buying at thrift shops, unbelievable what you find,

some beautiful ones.

This one is silk and vintage, paid maybe like $5 for it.

I love it.

And to keep with that theme, I have my animal print shoes that I bought off of eBay, they're

Kurt Geiger.

Look at the tiny little kitten heel with the little pop of red.

So, that's what I've got going on today.

Check out this vintage silk Kimono that I picked up at one of my favorite thrift shops,

which is the Hospice Resale Shop in Encinitas.

All proceeds benefit the Hospice.

I love this, it's so different, the way that it's kind of like a dress and the buttons.

Today I have it styled with my Love Strength corset belt, which I think modernizes it a

little bit.

I have my Artemis Designs little shoes, I don't know if you can see them here with

the way the sun is.

And then these are Hanes leggings.

Let me show you how these Hanes leggings work down here.

They're just normal leggings this way, but look at this, if you want to wear them as

a tight, you can.

You just go like this, and viola, now you have it as a tight.

They're very cool, I think they're really a fun little piece to have.

That's it for this week.

Thank you so much for watching, I really appreciate it.

I'd love to know in the comments below what particularly you liked or maybe didn't like.

Until next time, have fun and dress it up a little.
