Waching daily Nov 5 2018

The first time I saw Declan Rice play in midfield was at Liverpool on the opening day of the season

West Ham were well beaten and after the game I did not think Rice had it in him to master that position

He could not handle Liverpool's movement and was dragged all over the pitch. He has since learned from that game and made the position at the base of midfield his own

Rice may be just 19 but when I watch him now, I see an old head on young shoulders — a player who is towering in the air and not afraid to be aggressive

Mark Noble was waxing lyrical about him when I spoke to West Ham's captain recently

His schooling as a centre back gives him that defensive instinct to snuff out danger whenever West Ham do not have the ball

During West Ham's brilliant victory over Burnley he won back the ball 12 times, more than any player on the pitch at the London Stadium

He has become more disciplined in maintaining his central position and when his team are in possession, he drops back between the centre-halves to allow their full backs to attack

Rice has all the hallmarks of Fernandinho, the anchorman of Pep Guardiola's Manchester City midfield

The Brazilian is still performing at the peak of his powers but given he is 33, City will be on the lookout for a long-term replacement

I would not be surprised if Rice is already on their radar, and plays against them in West Ham's next home game

It will be the biggest test of his fledgling career. He has the same attitude as Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and John Terry — players who put in the hard yards in training and worked tirelessly to keep on improving

Gareth Southgate should be banging down his door to convince him to play for England rather than the Republic of Ireland and Rice must also decide whether to sign a new deal with West Ham

When young players burst on to the scene, it is usually creative players such as Mason Mount and Jadon Sancho who catch the eye

Rice's future will be just as bright and it is vital that he makes the right decisions for his career

What struck me most about Arsenal's draw against Liverpool was the Emirates atmosphere

The fans were brimming with optimism and it was a ground transformed. That is all down to Unai Emery

For the last 10 years, their fans have been crying out for grit and determination in their team

Now, Arsenal do not know when they are beaten.  After conceding a second penalty at Wolves, Juan Foyth will have wanted the ground to swallow him up

It may have been a nightmare Spurs debut but he must view it as a learning curve

He now knows he needs to work on his body position and how he defends one-v-ones. Iron out those mistakes and he will come back stronger

Whatever you may think about Wayne Rooney's recall for a farewell England cap, there is another striker who I hope Gareth Southgate calls up when he names his squad on Thursday

Bournemouth's Callum Wilson is one of the most in-form English forwards. As our table shows, he has been involved in 10 Premier League goals this season — a figure bettered only by Manchester City's Raheem Sterling

Pace is key to whether a player can cut it on the international stage. England proved against Spain that they can hurt good sides on the counter-attack with their blistering speed

Wilson gives defenders nightmares when he runs at them and is part of a team which plays the sort of attractive, attacking football that Southgate wants

England also lack depth up front. I hope his electric start to the season is rewarded with a first call-up

Everton fans I know are desperate for Marco Silva to sign a striker in January, but they have a ready-made centre forward in Richarlison

He is strong in the air and has a good blend of pace and physicality. Think of Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry

They started as wide men before moving into the middle. Richarlison has all the attributes to do the same

'This is not how I raised him,' says mother of mail bombing suspect Cesar Sayoc - Duration: 5:50.

The mother of the man suspected of mailing more than a dozen suspicious packages to prominent politicians, media figures and celebrities said she did not raise her children to incite fear, describing her accused son as having been mentally ill "for a long time

" Madeline Sayoc, the mother of 56-year-old Cesar Sayoc, told in an exclusive letter sent by her attorney that she awoke from surgery last week to learn that he had been accused of mailing at least 14 suspicious packages addressed to liberal politicians and others who support liberal policies, such as Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and Robert De Niro

"While I have not lived with my son for 35 years or even heard from him in over four years, I cannot express how deeply hurt, sad, shocked and confused I am to hear that my son may have caused so many people to be put in fear for their safety," Madeline Sayoc wrote

"This is not how I raised him or my children." Madeline Sayoc said her son has struggled with mental illness for some time, adding that the nation has work to do in how it deals with mental health

"My son has been ill for a long time and my family and I have tried, over and over again, without success to urge him to get the help he needs," she wrote

"We, in America, have a mental health crisis in this country and need to change laws to allow families to compel and require mental health treatment for those in need of such treatment before their illness worsens to where it is too late

" Sayoc's current attorneys have not commented on Sayoc's mental health. The mother also called upon President Donald Trump and other leaders to consider how their words can be viewed by some as "license to violently act out in our country

" ".Our political leaders, like our President Donald Trump, need to recognize that there are many sick people in this country who take their rhetoric and words of 'War with the Media' and 'War with the Democrats' to heart," she said

".I beg President Trump and others to refrain from talk of War with fellow Americans and remembers, as Senator McCain taught us, that we may politically disagree but we are all patriotic Americans and all we want is a safe country for all Americans

" Daniel Lurvey, Sayoc's former attorney who represented him in his grand theft and petty theft charges in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, expressed surprise that he was arrested for the string of suspicious packages, describing him as "a gentleman" with "no political agenda

" "He's as regular, non-political as can be," Lurvey told after Sayoc was arrested, adding also that he is "somewhat gregarious and friendly

" Sayoc was arrested on Oct. 26 after investigators tracked his cell phone to a parking lot in Plantation, Florida

Authorities identified him as the suspect after finding a fingerprint on one of the packages sent to Rep

Maxine Waters and matched it to a print Sayoc provided during one of his previous arrests

Although he had not lived with his mother for years, his official residence is listed as her Florida, home

He had primarily been living in a white van covered in political stickers that is now being investigated

On Friday, Sayoc appeared briefly in federal court in Miami but waived his right to a pretrial detention hearing and agreed to be transferred to New York, where he will be tried for federal criminal charges including interstate transportation of an explosive, illegal mailing of explosives, threats against former presidents and certain other persons, threatening interstate communications and assaulting current and former federal officers

"The magnitude of what has happened does weigh on him," Daniel Aaronson, one of Sayoc's private attorneys in Florida, told on Friday after the hearing

"He was the most respectful client that I have ever represented. When I heard his name in connection to this, I just stuttered and stammered that he could possibly be involved

It's just not the person that I know." Another one of Sayoc's former attorneys, Miami-based lawyer Ronald Lowy, told after his arrest that Sayoc's mother is a committed democrat and that his alleged behavior is inconsistent with her political views

ABC News' Santina Leuci, Justin Weaver and Morgan Winsor contributed to this report

What is PowerBank and how will customers benefit? - Duration: 1:25.

The PowerBank is the first one in Australia, in one of our communities

that's also got the highest penetration of solar in the country. What we're

trying to do is store everybody's solar that they're

producing, that we can store for them and we can actually give it back to them.

The way the trial works is that it will be 52 customers that will be invited to be part

of the program. Each of those customers will have access to effectively eight

kilowatt hours of storage here at the Tesla PowerBank. That actually gives

them the ability to earn credits with the energy that they spill onto the system,

which is stored in the battery and offset those credits against their

future consumption. We can store, using the PowerBank in our network, your

power. So it actually brings a whole community benefit not an individual

benefit. I really do envisage a future where Synergy and Western Power are working

seamlessly together, focused on bringing great products and services to our

customers and I think if we combine the power of these two great businesses then

really the sky's the limit in terms what we're going to achieve together.

Is Michael Bloomberg Running for President in 2020? | Heavy.com - Duration: 7:49.

Is Michael Bloomberg Running for President in 2020? | Heavy.com

Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg has raised further speculation about a potential presidential run in 2020.

He debuted a series of ads on Sunday, November 4, with a message urging voters to choose Democratic candidates when they go to the ballot box on November 6.

The two-minute ad, shown above, was paid for by Bloomberg's PAC, "Independence USA." According to the Washington Post, the commercial was part of a $5 million advertising campaign designed to encourage people to vote in the midterms.

The ad is titled "Higher Purpose.".

One possible clue that Bloomberg is considering a presidential run is that he begins his ad by attempting to come across as non-partisan.

He comes right out and states that he wanted to address the American public "not as a Democrat or a Republican… but as an American who is deeply concerned with the direction of our nation.".

Bloomberg then states that he "watched the recent bombings and mass shootings with growing alarm" and alluded to political violence as being a threat to democracy.

Bloomberg also invoked the mass shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, stating that violence against a religious group "tears at the heart of our humanity.".

Another clue is that Bloomberg alludes to being a Washington outsider, which has been a popular theme on the campaign trail.

President Donald Trump appealed to voters as a businessman, and as someone who was not part of the establishment in Washington, D.C.

If Bloomberg is running for president, he appears to be striking a similar tune.

He called out current lawmakers in the ad.

"We look to Washington to lead, to offer solutions, to bring us together, and to appeal to all of us as Americans… We expect a plan.

We expect to be called to a higher purpose.

We expect to work together.

I don't hear that call coming from Washington these days.

Do you?".

Here's a third clue within this ad: Bloomberg goes after President Trump.

He does not say the president's name, but a photo of the president appears on-screen as Bloomberg describes the country's division.

He appears to blame President Trump for the political discord.

"Shouting in hysterics instead of calm reasoning.

Pointed fingers instead of open hands.

Division instead of unity.

We see this most dramatically with the fear-mongering over immigration." Bloomberg goes on to describe what could be interpreted as a political platform, by listing what he thinks is wrong with the current administration and Congress.

"Sadly, our greatest threats today can be found from within our borders, from a government that is constantly on the verge of shutting down over partisan bickering, that is accumulating record debt, and failing to address our most urgent problems." As Bloomberg says that last line, pictures of a broken roadway and smokestacks flash on screen, alluding to infrastructure and climate change.

Bloomberg ends the ad by stumping for Democratic candidates.

"At this moment, we must send a signal to Republicans in Washington that they have failed to lead, failed to find solutions, and failed to bring us together.

That's why I'm voting Democratic.

America is the greatest nation on earth and for all our sakes we must start becoming the UNITED States of America once again.".

   .

Bloomberg had tongues wagging when he re-registered as a Democrat in October 2018.

He had been a Democrat prior to 2001.

But he joined the Republican party in 2001 when he decided to run for mayor of New York City.

He left the party in 2007 to become an Independent.

He won a third term as New York City's mayor in 2009 as an Independent.

Bloomberg was briefly considered as a potential presidential candidate in 2016.

He announced in February of 2016 that he was thinking about running as a third-party candidate.

He ultimately decided against it.

In the current election cycle, Bloomberg has put a lot of money behind supporting Democratic candidates.

In October 2018, he donated $20 million to the Senate Majority PAC.

According to CNBC, Bloomberg also donated about $80 million throughout 2018 to boost the campaigns of Democratic candidates for the House.

Bloomberg is currently one of the world's richest people.

According to Forbes, as of November 4, 2018, the 76-year-old media executive was ranked 16th on its real-time list of the world's billionaires.

His net worth was estimated to be $46.2 billion.
