hey it's Anna Von and Luna Tuna here from TravelMama AnnaVon I'm gonna tell you a
little bit about how to travel to Bali with kids we're currently in Bali
Indonesia hi Luna welcome join the conversation I'm about to give you one
of my best travel tips for kids it's really easy to come to Bali you can do
it by yourself with kids this is one of the easiest places in the world to
travel with your children and I'm gonna teach you how to make it even easier
today in this video are you ready tuna yeah estas lista
we're at a cell store we're getting some credit here one of the things that drives me
nuts that travelers do is they get off the plane and then they live on Wi-Fi
like if you have enough money to afford to come to Indonesia from Canada don't
be cheap with your phone shit man get a card you can usually buy a SIM card at
the airport for somewhere between $5-$20 Canadian in any country in
the world and usually the card comes with a certain amount of data you can
get about a monthly plan of unlimited data for about $10-$20 as well
I seem to use a lot more data here in Indonesia than I do in say Guatemala but
honestly like when I fly to Mexico I just get a card at the airport load it up
and then get my Guatemalan one back and when I leave you should be connected all
the time you can do this at the airport don't be cheap don't be lazy get your
Wi-Fi sorted
my next hot tip for you is driving everybody in Bali drives the scooter a
scooter cost between $60 and $100 for a month for a rental and
it's about two to three dollars to fill up for the week and that's if you're
driving it every day you need to get yourself a scooter okay if you have a
kid bigger than her they can stand in the front that's how everybody does it
here get used to it if they're smaller get yourself a backpack man there is no
place for strollers here strollers are only good for big Western fancy cities
if you go outside of that you need to learn to carry your children you need to
learn how to drive a moto I learned to drive a moto in India which means that
you can do it I don't have a license in Canada and I'm a good driver the good
news is you can drive on the side of the road going 20 here and no one's gonna
honk at you or mess with you they know you're a new driver they can tell by how
you're driving also nobody drives more than 40 so as far as I'm concerned I can
take an accident at 40 just go slow stay on the side be careful learn to drive a
scooter it will change your life here I do it with her you can do it something I
can't stress enough when you're traveling with kids just keep it simple
you know we rent a place without a pool because we don't need one every day
leave a little trampoline it's really kid-friendly and instead we just like
find places where we can kind of come and hijack the pool for an hour you know
with kids it's so easy to keep them happy you do not need all the extra
fixings you can just do some swimming
my last travel tips here for you on going to Bali with kids is this you
should always always travel with Tempra or a Tylenol if you've got little kids
like me Luna's still under 2 - she teethes and it comes out of nowhere and she
spikes these teething fevers and you know they can happen on a plane they can
happen at the airport they can happen on a layover they can happen in the middle
of the night you don't know where to go Tempra is key if you have older kids
like kids six and under you should still be packing something for that you can
get at any pharmacy here Tempra look at that si Tempra
so the last thing you gotta really look out for
when you're traveling is this try to be mindful about how much garbage you're
creating the whole tourist industry is set up to create an incredible amount of
garbage it's basically if you're travelling anywhere as a tourist you are
contributing to taking a giant dump on the world and I'm not talking about just
cuz you took a plane I mean the single serving plastic to getting rid of
mangroves for you know hotel sprawl the way that they throw
away half the food they make in these big awful you know all-inclusive if you
come to Bali this is a beautiful island and you're not at home
so be a good houseguest you know do your part do as much as you can we travel
with fold up bags you know I never use plastic bags anywhere I take a bag with
me we put things in the bike and the bike boot you know if I can carry it in
my arms what do I need a plastic bag for I actually I'm really proud of this
I'm gonna see if I can find it when we came over on the flight and I've been
here for almost two months now I got this bottle of water in the airport in
Taipei and I've been reusing it every day since I've been here it's almost
time for me to get a new one it's getting a little foggy but there's no
reason why you can't do this kind of stuff while you're
traveling and I feel like especially while you travel you should be really
like wow thank you so much for inviting me to your country let me not take a
shit on your rug it's super important to be mindful and it's really hard as a
tourist because like I said everything is set up for you to you know be
mindless the tourism industry is for single drunk people who want a deal on
day drinking the whole thing is set up for that and if you're traveling with
kids get out of the tourist areas get into more local areas work a little bit
harder be a bit more mindful try to eat it locally owned places stay in locally
owned hotels or Airbnb is and just like put some money into the
economy into the pockets of the people that actually live there and not
companies that are foreign nationals and you know watch you're plastic man you can
always say no thanks I don't want to straw in my drink nothing's stopping you
if you really like exploring the world with these little guys try to keep it
as beautiful as possible so that when they grow up there's something for them
to show their kids that's the end of my diatribe on that if
you have some great travel tips that maybe I didn't say or questions leave
them below thanks for watching oh and we have a YouTube channel it's all about
eating Tempra all over the world so traveling as a single parent all over
the world and it's called TravelMama Anna Von thank you so much for having
us say bye bye say adios she's so happy
