RTU stands for Remote Terminal Unit,

sometimes also called Remote Telemetry Unit or Remote Telecontrol Unit.

A RTU is a microprocessor based device

that then connects to plant control or SCADA

(supervisory control and data acquisition) systems.

If you do a search on the definition of a RTU,

you may find many results

that state a RTU is much more powerful than a PLC

as the RTU can have several inputs and outputs.

Well, as you know, so can the PLC.

The RTU does have some potential benefits over the PLC,

which we will discuss.

On price point, the winner right now is the PLC.

PLCs have a lower price point but many consider the RTU to be a much more rugged system

which would lead you to believe that spending more initially will equal out in the end.

As far as process control, the RTU is probably on equal ground with the PLC.

Both controllers can have multiple different types of I/O,

different communications modules,

and programming of processes that may require little to no operator intervention.

Where the RTU is considered to have some advantages

is in environment tolerances, backup power options, and autonomy.

Let's first discuss a programming advantage

that the RTU may have over the PLC.

A PLC requires specific software and specific skills and knowledge of ladder logic,

structured text, function block, etc.

A RTU can sometimes be programmed through a simple web interface.

In other instances, the RTU comes with setup software

that can help you to configure input streams to output streams as well as communications.

There are also many RTU's that have preprogrammed modules

that can just be applied for the desired function.

This advantage can quickly be turned into a disadvantage.

Some RTUs may be programmed with languages such as Basic, Visual Basic and C#.

Of course, these languages require a special skill set just as the PLCs do.

Some RTUs are even programmed in the same languages that PLCs are programmed with

such as Ladder Logic and Structured Text.

A definite advantage is in the environmental tolerances of a RTU.

RTU's are widely used in environments with extreme temperatures

and located in remote locations.

And when I say remote, I don't mean within a few feet or few hundred feet,

I mean miles down dirt roads, on top of mountains,

on off shore oil rigs, that kind of remote.

RTUs are very frequently used with radio,

microwave, and satellite communications.

Imagine using a RTU on an off shore oil rig.

Getting reliable communications would be both essential and difficult.

With the use of the stated communications,

sending and receiving data from these very remote locations is a breeze.

Some RTU's have a backup battery and charging circuit,

such as solar power, that will allow the RTU to continue to operate even when AC power is lost.

Of course, PLC's can have a UPS backup

which adds the same benefit but the charging circuit is a definite plus.

The advantages that were described here can easily be mitigated with the new PLC

and PAC (programmable automation controller) systems.

Just about every category of advantage can be found in other options.

The biggest advantage is the environmental tolerances,

those are hard to compete with.

So all and all, there aren't a lot of differences between modern RTUs and PLCs.

The ever changing technologies do a remarkable job of leveling the playing field.

Emery is risking Arsenal's season with key decision on 26 year old | AFC News - Duration: 1:53.

Arsenal were made to fight for their win against Cardiff as the Bluebirds came back from a

goal down twice.

Ultimately, Arsenal's quality won out in the end with Alexandre Lacazette the best

player on the pitch.

Going forward, the Gunners looked like they carried a threat whenever they got into the

final third.

Defensively, however, Arsenal looked a bit shaky.

Shkodran Mustafi seemed to revert back to the defender the fans saw for most of last

season.

He may have scored Arsenal's first goal but he didn't do his defensive job and was

part of a defence that allowed Cardiff to score two goals.

Petr Cech also caught the eye today but not for a good reason.

As we've seen already this season, the former Chelsea man is not great with the ball at

his feet and almost cost Arsenal a goal today.

Despite his performance with the ball at his feet, Emery admitted that he will continue

to demand that his team plays out from the back.

Petr Cech has never really been asked to play out from the back during his career and it's

quite obvious.

Against Cardiff, the experienced goalkeeper was almost caught out and it looks as though

he may be a target for opposing teams from now on.

Starting Cech at the beginning made of the season made absolute sense from Emery given

the magnitude of the matches.

However, with Bernd Leno waiting in the wings who is more technical, the question remains:

how long will it be until the German comes in?

What is Exposure? - Duration: 1:34.

in photography you'll hear people

talking about exposure in technical

terms exposure is a word that describes

the amount of light that your camera

allows to reach the sensor to make up

the photograph there are three different

ways in which you can control the

exposure the amount of time that the

sensor is shown the light this is

shutter speed the size of the hole that

the light is allowed to pass through or

aperture the sensitivity of the sensor

itself or ISO so you have three

different ways to manipulate your

photograph by changing the aperture the

shutter speed or the ISO if the photo is

dark it's known as being underexposed

this is because the sensor hasn't been

shown enough light if the photo is too

bright it's known as being overexposed

this is because the sensor was shown too

much light so to get a good exposure

need to balance out your aperture

shutter speed and ISO when you do this

you'll get a nice-looking photo then you

can tweak and tune each of these

settings to get exactly what you want

and that's about it if you want a more

in-depth video on what to change and

when click on the eye in the corner this

will take you to my video on when to

change aperture shutter speed and ISO if

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Named Their Dog! Is It a Nod to Their Royal Tour — or a Famous Poem? - Duration: 3:29.

The pup of Sussex finally has a name!  Prince Harry and Meghan Markle adopted a dog, reportedly a Labrador Retriever, at the end of August — and their new addition will go by Oz, PEOPLE has confirmed

A source also shared that the dog has been joining them at their country getaway in the Cotswolds area and Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace in London

It's unclear what exactly the inspiration for the dog's name was, but perhaps it's a reference to the couple's first official royal tour, which will take place this fall

They're heading to Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga and New Zealand. Australia is also the location of the next Invictus Games, a Paralympics-style event that Prince Harry, 33, created for wounded and injured service members

The name could also have literary origins: a famed 1818 poem by Percy Shelley, "Ozymandias," explores the fate of Egyptian ruler Rameses II and contains the line, "'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings

"  Meghan, 37, is a known dog lover. Before moving to London, she had two rescue pups at her home in Toronto, one of whom, a beagle named Guy, relocated with her across the pond

The other, Bogart, was gifted to friends.  Guy, meanwhile, has been embedded into Meghan's new royal life, and was at her feet as she sat for her hair and makeup on her wedding morning

Harry and Meghan's move mirrors that of his brother Prince William and Kate Middleton, who got Cocker Spaniel Lupo shortly after their wedding, settling him into life with them in Anglesey, North Wales

The newlyweds recently made their first public appearance following their summer break

They attended a special West End performance of the smash musical Hamilton to raise funds for one of Harry's longtime charities, Sentebale, which he set up alongside his friend Prince Seeiso of Lesotho

The couple, who previously saw the hit show during a night out around Valentine's Day earlier this year, were guests of honor, alongside Hamiltoncreator and Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda

As well as seeing the show, the trio met the cast and crew on the stage of London's Victoria Palace Theatre

Upcoming events for Prince Harry and Meghan include the annual awards night on Sept

4 for Prince Harry's charity WellChild, which works on behalf of seriously ill children and their families and caretakers, and on September 6, the 100 Days to Peace gala, an evening of music marking the centenary of the end of World War I at Central Hall Westminster

Let's.. just pretend it's a half bath..

Just come out already

Insulting_Ferreng.gif

Hey, daughter.. Sis..

You're not mad, are you..?

I'll continue to run

even though I can sense the eyes watching me from behind..

Time passed by

and one day

she seems to be heading somewhere with Ferreng?!

I'm taking it for a check-up in case it over-dieted for the last 3 months

After all, she's the only one who truly cares for Ferreng..

Ferreng's getting an ultrasound

Ferreng did lose lots of weight compared to the last time, didn't it?

It has lost lots of fat. The fat layer appears thinner and it looks like it has cut a good amount of weight

As soon as they get home..

she pats it on the back~

Give me treats!

It has just won an apple

The fruits of hard work...

have never been sweeter..
